A Flawless Stay at the Hotel-Gasthof Goldener Greifen The Hotel-Gasthof Goldener Greifen provided an absolutely excellent two-night experience in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about this hotel; it was a perfect base for exploring this stunning town. The location could not have been better. Situated within a stone's throw of the main square, we were ideally placed to enjoy everything Rothenburg has to offer without unnecessary walking. While the central location is a massive advantage, I do want to offer a word of advice on arrival: finding the designated parking lot was a bit difficult. When the GPS led us up a small, narrow alley, we were sure we were lost! However, once we were parked and walked over, the minor initial confusion was instantly forgotten thanks to the hotel staff. The staff and service were consistently exceptional from start to finish. The check-in process was quick, efficient, and genuinely friendly. We were made to feel welcome immediately. Our room itself was beautiful—large, perfectly clean, and flawless. We chose to eat dinner at the hotel's restaurant, and it was as perfect as the hotel room, the staff, and the location. The service was attentive, and the atmosphere was lovely. The second treat of our stay was the breakfast. It featured homemade everything, a fantastic variety, and, again, the staff and service did not disappoint. If you are looking for an impeccable stay in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, look no further than the Hotel-Gasthof Goldener Greifen.

We absolutely loved our short stay here. It is literally in the heart of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. We wish we could have spent several nights as the on-site restaurant was closed during our visit. Breakfast was included and available, which we thoroughly enjoyed! We learned about a currant preserve called johannisbeer which is frequently used in foods and liqueur in the region. We look forward to coming back to this 600+ year old gem when we visit again! The staff was excellent, very friendly and super accommodating.

The staff here is incredible. They do it all, and always seem to be friendly about it. Rooms are nice and clean. Actually more spacious than I expected. You can't beat the location. The only down spot for me was the tight turns and parking, which was was hard with a extended van. But can't fault them for that.

The food and service was terrible. The waiter was rude and never checked on us. We felt like an annoyance. The food was too salty. I wish we would have eaten somewhere else. Absolutely worst meal in Germany. Ate dinner.

We went here for dinner and some beers on a warm and sunny May evening, we dined in the biergarten and it was very gemütlich. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. I had the Rinder Gulasch with mashed potatoes and red cabbage. My wife had an enormous Turkey schnitzel with spätzle. The server was very friendly, he made sure that we stayed hydrated. The hotel part looked cozy and we will give that a try next time.

Had a lovely stay here, including one of the best breakfasts I have had at a hotel. The property is perfectly located right next to the beautiful market square, yet the rooms are very quiet. The hotel dog is also adorable!

Great hotel on transit. Location is not great, but service and rooms are good. Food is also quite well.

Their breakfast is the most amazing part. They first bring tray of meats, cheese and bread. Coffee is served in a crafe. Then they ask how you want your eggs. Unbelievable!!! Rooms are very clean and modern. Bathroom is also very new! Can't say enough good things about this place.

Went here for an early dinner a were seated outside in the courtyard which was pretty packed. Sadly we were seated next to the dirty, stagnant fountain that was not working. I'm not sure if they were just understaffed or strangely busy for the hour but it took us forever to just order drinks and then quite a bit longer to order food. So long that we almost decided to leave. However the food did come out quick and was quite good. Definitely could do without sitting next to the mosquito infested fountain but all in all it was good food.

We stayed in a large family room in the back of the place and my family loved it. We had five people (parents and kids ages 6,11,12). This was the favorite place on our trip according to the kids. The staff is friendly and the breakfast was great. This place is not fancy but they have large rooms, clean, good WiFi and convenient to town square. The house is historic and charming. My kids insist on this place getting 5 stars and I agree.

Loved this place. Only a few feet away from the town square. Good price. Big room for a family of 4. We had dinner downstairs that was really good (especially the wild boar goulash!!). There was a ton of food at the complimentary breakfast (see pics). Staff was very friendly. Convenient free parking too.

Stayed there July 16 and 17, 2014 This hotel is build originally as the Mayor's home, and is just 3 doors from the town square. Much of the hotel and furnishings are from the original home. We have stayed here before and were happy to return. Some of the rooms have been added and are very clean and nice, but not historic. Location is perfect, but can be hard to find the back gate to enter the parking and beer garden. All the staff are very friendly and efficient. They serve a great breakfast each morning, and the restaurant is open for dinner at competitive prices. Breakfast is included, parking included, and internet included with rental. Only thing some might not like is there are steps, and no elevator. Also no air conditioning, not often needed. Overall, we love the place, the people, the location, and would stay there again if the chance came. Many of the guests become like a big family during the meal times, and share their days experiences. Highly Recommend.
