Hotel Gattapone

A delightful hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Delicious and abundant breakfast offerings. Right in the middle of Gubbio's Old City. Room was clean and had everything you'd need. My room overlooked the square below and I enjoyed the regular ringing of the many bells in town.

The Hotel Gattapone, Gubbio was well located in a beautiful city. After a long day walking the Way of St Francis, The Hotel Gattapone, Gubbio had a reasonably comfortable bed sleep in, but we were part of a group of 21 pilgrims and we all arrived on a cold, rainy day at the same time, and all needed a hot shower at the same time.  Unfortunately the heat and hot water were operated on strict, very limited time schedule.  During the off hours, the hot water supply was very limited and not up to our demands. The Hotel Gattapone would be better suited to smaller groups arriving on separate schedules.

We arrived in Gubbio without reservations. We lucked out choosing Gattapone from a list we got at the town information center. The hotel is spic and span clean. Simple, elegant design. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Breakfast was included and was abundant. Each table was labeled “reserved” according to room number. The cost was very reasonable. We had expected to pay more. The location is off a lovely piazza, and our room window opened up to a sweet private little courtyard. It was an easy walk to everything we wanted to see in the town of Gubbio.

Perfect location. Beautiful room. Decent breakfast and helpful staff. The only drawback is the very thin walls between rooms allowing you to hear every conversation and noise your neighbors make. Additionally, the church bells go every 15mins Al night long but I like d that.

The location is really handy in exploring Gubbio. You can walk everywhere.||||The room was clean, staff was friendly. The breakfast was great.||||Absolutely no complaints about this hotel.||||Well the one complaint, and it is not hotel relatet td, but the nearby church bell must be one o the few in Italy that goes on ALL night. It made for a disrupted sleep.(butyou would hear it in all the hotels in the area).

If you're arriving by car, the hotel is a short walk up the hill from the Piazza 40 Martiri, where you can park short-term (you won't want to drive in the "vertical" part of town). Free longer-term parking is available at the Teatro Romano, some 300 meters farther on. My room was small and didn't have a view, but was cozy and comfortable. Wi-Fi worked well and breakfast was standard for Italy. Friendly staff. Good value for money.

Hotel is well located for exploring Gubbio and easy to reach from the bus stop. Staff at reception were friendly and helpful and had loads of suggestions for things to do, places to eat and local shops. I had a superior room (made cautious as a result of a previous review about room 252 so I went for "superior" rather than "comfort"), which had views over the rooftops and a spacious bathroom.

I only stayed one night and found the location perfect, close to the main bus stop (I came from Perugia), located on the lower area of the town so easy to get to, no stairs to climb. Staff were lovely, breakfast great. There is also a cute terrace to sit outside.
