Hotel Geranio au Lac

I love this small twin room. I had a great view of the lake. The hotel has an excellent breakfast, and I love that the espresso machine is available all of the time (on the 2nd floor) for guests to use. There's also a vending machine and a back exit that is directly behind the train station. The staff was warm and friendly.

We had a wonderful experience in this hotel (3-7 of September) especially with Claudio and his many advices and tips. Claudio and Gabriel are very kind and really helpful that's why our stay was so pleasant. The breakfast change every morning and was delicious. Many thanks to them!

I stayed here for 9 nights for a conference in the town. I am so glad I chose this hotel. I was given an upgrade to a double room due to the length of my stay, which was very nice. The room was spacious and had a balcony with a view of part of the lake. Unfortunately I didn't have much time to enjoy it as it was a busy week. The bed was firm, just as I prefer, and very comfy. The room had air conditioning, which was great, as the temperature was in the high 20s for all of my stay. Plenty of storage and the bathroom had everything I needed, once I found the hidden cupboard behind the mirror! The staff were so friendly and helpful. I want to mention the reception staff Maria Theresa and Monique in particular who were very kind and happy to do anything they could to help - thank you very much! They let me use the hotel's laundry room to iron a few items and even went to the restaurant next door to get some ice for me to help with inflammation from insect bites, which I had a bad reaction to. Beware of the midges when sitting outside at night. ||||The location of the hotel is perfect, the road in front of the hotel is very quiet, hardly any traffic, just a few steps and you're walking along the pathway alongside the lake. Only 10 minutes walk to Piazza Grande and the Palacinema where our conference was held. ||Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. A nice touch from the hotel was the 24 hour access to tea and coffee, as this isn't provided in the rooms, but is accessible in the breakfast room at any time. ||I found the hotel to be extremely clean and comfortable, and quiet. Not sure how many rooms were occupied during my stay, but I didn't really hear anyone else. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Really lovely hotel. Excellent location. Friendly and very helpful staff. Breakfast buffet excellent. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Good value for money. Restaurant is also good. Get a lake view room...it is superb....

In a group of 23 with Road Scholar, we were scheduled for 3 nights. On the second night at least 9 of the group tested positive for Covid. Those folks could not continue on the tour but were allowed to stay in the hotel. The hotel must be commended for the safe and excellent care. First day they placed breakfast outside the door, other days we could go down and bring choices back to room. No maid service but clean towels were provided. We could pick up an evening meal at the desk, without meeting other Covid carriers. The hotel had obviously been through this before and were careful and kind.||||My wife and I were negative but elected to not continue with the "Covid tour." As the tour ended in 4 days, at least 11 stayed at the hotel for 3 more nights before departing for Zurich Airport and home to the US. We all had to pay for the room and meals by ourselves as Road Scholar abandoned us.||||It is a lovely hotel with a great location, but they do not have air conditioning and the temperature was 85-90 degrees making sleeping very unpleasant.||||Armand

My go-to hotel in Locarno. Fantastic location, fantastic staff.

Very nice location but the hotel Needs a big refreshing. The bathroom are not in normes as I could hear everyone taking showers and flushing toilets. As I am in real estate promotions I can tell this needs to be fixed. The breakfast is good but would need more variety of meats for non porc eaters. The view can be very nice if you are lucky to get a room above floor 4. Price is all about the location and nothing else. You can get their bikes for free it is a plus as everything is in a few km away!

I stayed at the Geranio with my two young sons for a (very warm) couple of days. We had a really lovely time.||The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from Locarno station, and is about a 10 minute walk from the Piazza Grande in the town centre. There is 2 hour parking outside the hotel, and longer 4 hour parking spaces a few minutes up the road. However spaces could be hard to find at busy points. ||The hotel has a deal with the nearby multi storey car park opposite the station - you pay 14F for 24 hours. ||The reception staff were so helpful, full of ideas of where to go on days out. Guests also get free local transport under a local Canton scheme to cut congestion - so we caught a bus to Ascona to enjoy a walk through its historic centre.||The room was fine. Without air conditioning it could get very warm in the evening, however it was pleasant to sit outside on the balcony. The children slept on a sofa bed.||Breakfast was a good choice of cereals, bread and ham/cheese. There is also coffee available at any time, which was a nice touch. ||I would definitely recommend Hotel Getanio, we enjoyed our stay.
