Hotel Geranio au Lac

Really liked this hotel. It is ideally located with Lake Maggiore out the front and train and bus stations just behind. |We stayed for 3 nights in a recently renovated double room with a good sized balcony and lake view. |Breakfast buffet was very good. You can also help yourself to tea and coffee at any time. ||Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A 3-star hotel that many 4-star hotels should take note of. Cosy and very clean rooms, very comfortable beds, nice balconies with tables and chairs, renovated bathrooms with brand new fixtures, varied and plentiful breakfasts, and friendly and welcoming staff. What else? (Oh yes, olive oil and vinegar for the small breakfast salad.)

Perfect location. Close to city center and lots of restaurants. new rooms, nice service. Good for a few days vacation.

Was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It is mega-close to the train station so no trouble wheeling luggage from train to hotel. Had a warm welcome from the lady on reception and, although we arrived early, our room was ready. We were grateful for the hotel's air-conditioning as it was very hot during our stay and the hotel's fridge was very useful. Had a room with a huge terrace overlooking the lake. Breakfast was great. We ate out on the terrace on all 3 mornings we were there. Particularly liked the freshly-squeezed orange juice. My only gripe was the shower head. The water came out like a garden hose! If we'd have stayed longer I'd probably have mentioned it, but for 3 days I put up with it. However, I can thoroughly recommend the Geranio for anyone wishing to stay in Locarno.

Incredible location, fantastic service; views of lake and mountains, very modern and perfectly clean rooms

I love this small twin room. I had a great view of the lake. The hotel has an excellent breakfast, and I love that the espresso machine is available all of the time (on the 2nd floor) for guests to use. There's also a vending machine and a back exit that is directly behind the train station. The staff was warm and friendly.

I stayed here for 9 nights for a conference in the town. I am so glad I chose this hotel. I was given an upgrade to a double room due to the length of my stay, which was very nice. The room was spacious and had a balcony with a view of part of the lake. Unfortunately I didn't have much time to enjoy it as it was a busy week. The bed was firm, just as I prefer, and very comfy. The room had air conditioning, which was great, as the temperature was in the high 20s for all of my stay. Plenty of storage and the bathroom had everything I needed, once I found the hidden cupboard behind the mirror! The staff were so friendly and helpful. I want to mention the reception staff Maria Theresa and Monique in particular who were very kind and happy to do anything they could to help - thank you very much! They let me use the hotel's laundry room to iron a few items and even went to the restaurant next door to get some ice for me to help with inflammation from insect bites, which I had a bad reaction to. Beware of the midges when sitting outside at night. ||||The location of the hotel is perfect, the road in front of the hotel is very quiet, hardly any traffic, just a few steps and you're walking along the pathway alongside the lake. Only 10 minutes walk to Piazza Grande and the Palacinema where our conference was held. ||Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. A nice touch from the hotel was the 24 hour access to tea and coffee, as this isn't provided in the rooms, but is accessible in the breakfast room at any time. ||I found the hotel to be extremely clean and comfortable, and quiet. Not sure how many rooms were occupied during my stay, but I didn't really hear anyone else. I would definitely recommend staying here.
