Hotel Geranio au Lac

We stayed for 2 nights at Hotel Geranio au Lac Locarno. It was a very good experience. The location is great, next to train station, and a few minutes walk to the center. The room is spacious, and has a balcony with a lovely view on the lake. The staff at the reception are kind and helpful, I forgot my hat and they kept it for me for a few weeks. Breakfast was very good with a lot better f variety, you can have breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake when good weather. We will stay again at this hotel.

This hotel was outstanding in all aspects. We had a room overlooking the lake and the balcony was a beautiful spot to enjoy a glass of wine or cup of coffee and enjoy the view. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. The location is fantastic - very close to the train station. Offsite parking was easy and convenient.

I stayed at this hotel last weekend while participating in the Ascona Half Marathon. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. The room was advertised on Booking.com as having a lake view, but this was not the case. Upon entering the room, it was immediately clear that it did not match the description or the photos provided online. When I approached the reception to clarify the issue, the receptionist was unhelpful and informed me that nothing could be done until the following day when the manager was available. Unfortunately, the manager’s response was even more disappointing — she was not customer-oriented and showed no willingness to find a fair solution. I generally avoid writing negative reviews, but in this case, I feel compelled to share my experience so that other travelers are aware. If you are considering staying at this hotel, I strongly recommend verifying your booking details carefully or choosing another hotel with better customer service and transparency.

Really liked this hotel. It is ideally located with Lake Maggiore out the front and train and bus stations just behind. |We stayed for 3 nights in a recently renovated double room with a good sized balcony and lake view. |Breakfast buffet was very good. You can also help yourself to tea and coffee at any time. ||Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

great location right at the lake; friendly and helpful staff; great breakfast with many choices of good quality - and free coffee all day; a small but comfortable single room with (almost) all amenities you need (a small fridge would have been nice)

Was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It is mega-close to the train station so no trouble wheeling luggage from train to hotel. Had a warm welcome from the lady on reception and, although we arrived early, our room was ready. We were grateful for the hotel's air-conditioning as it was very hot during our stay and the hotel's fridge was very useful. Had a room with a huge terrace overlooking the lake. Breakfast was great. We ate out on the terrace on all 3 mornings we were there. Particularly liked the freshly-squeezed orange juice. My only gripe was the shower head. The water came out like a garden hose! If we'd have stayed longer I'd probably have mentioned it, but for 3 days I put up with it. However, I can thoroughly recommend the Geranio for anyone wishing to stay in Locarno.

Perfect location. Close to city center and lots of restaurants. new rooms, nice service. Good for a few days vacation.

I love this small twin room. I had a great view of the lake. The hotel has an excellent breakfast, and I love that the espresso machine is available all of the time (on the 2nd floor) for guests to use. There's also a vending machine and a back exit that is directly behind the train station. The staff was warm and friendly.
