This is where I always stay when I am on business in NYC. I lived a few blocks to the west of the hotel for 2+ years and know the neighborhood reasonably well. It is in a great location with Madison Square Park 1 block away, and the 28th Street no. 6 train 2 blocks away. Besides being on a beautiful street (e.g. Park Ave.), the hotel is not too far north or south for foot travel. I usually make a pilgrimage to McSorleys Bar in Village by foot if I have some time. The 6 train can have you at Grand Central or uptown in minutes. The rooms have sound insulation which is a blessing for diffusing out noise from the street. I regularly stay in a suite but every room I have seen is quite nice. The hotel is ideally sized - it has all of the necessary amenities and none of the problems of a large hotel which also hosts conventions etc. The staff is simply exceptional in every way. Complimentary breakfast is a great way to start the day if your agenda permits it. The last trip I missed my cancellation date by some hours and the desk volunteered to waive the cancellation fee (which would have been lodging for 4 nights). I simply have no complaints re: this hotel. If you are new to NYC, this is a great initial choice. The hotel is quiet and the roof garden is serene. For the record I have probably stayed in a dozen or more different hotels in NYC at one time or another.

Google
Really enjoyed our stay. Stumbled on the Giraffe looking for a hotel in Manhattan with larger than average rooms and wasn’t disappointed with our choice. The rooms are comfortable, attractive, clean and spacious. After reading lots of reviews, we decided on a King with a Juliet porch. Great bed, lots of light, no noise. The staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. Would definitely come back.

I had to go to NY to help my daughter move out from her apartment in Greenwich Village so was looking for a hotel close to her place. After reading lots of reviews, I decided to stay at the Hotel Giraffe on Park Avenue for four nights. ||The hotel lobby was elegant and welcoming with lots of seating areas. My room was very spacious and comfortable and had a cute balcony from which I could see the buildings on Park Avenue and 26th street. The bathroom had all the amenities for convenience. In the lobby, there was a nice complimentary breakfast every morning which included boiled eggs, croissants, toast, yogurts etc. There were also plenty of protein bars and fruits if looking for snacks during the day.||I found the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful! Andrew brought up a mini fridge on request and helped with the luggage. Also, Gaby and Emely printed out UPS labels from my email so I could use them for packing my daughter's stuff. I also ordered food via Doordash a few nights and members of the staff brought up the food. All were very pleasant.||Overall, I had an excellent experience and was very happy with my stay at the Hotel Giraffe. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in visiting NYC and wanting a wonderful stay.

Google
Very pleasant stay. I’ve stayed in dozens of hotels in NYC between the budget of $325-550 and this hotel stood out above many. The room size was large compared to other hotels (I had a queen room on the 10th floor). Nice view and small balcony. The decor is a bit 90s, but honestly all fixtures were in excellent shape. The bellman and front staff were also very friendly and helpful. Location is solid too. Just a few blocks from a subway stop and lots of restaurants and a Whole Foods nearby.

Google
This was my fourth stay at Hotel Giraffe. I find it is perfectly located for easy walking access to Chelsea and NoMad, and a pleasant walk to Soho, the West Village, and Broadway theaters. The hotel is smaller sized so the staff quickly learn your name, and the ambiance is friendly and familiar rather than the impersonal larger, more corporate properties. The staff have always been professional while also being friendly and interactive. |The rooms are generous by NYC standards and my room has always been clean with everything working. The beds, linens, and bathrooms are all very nice. While the free continental breakfast may not meet everyone's needs, right down the street there are numerous coffee shops and full restaurants. It is my first choice in NYC.

I try to stay at this gem botique every time I come to NY. It is always super clean, staff is friendly and helpful and the continental breakfast is perfect. Coffee also great. I’ve stayed both for business and with my family of 5. Recommend it for both! Pricier than the other boutique hotels but you get what you pay for!

Google
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here - lovely room with a balcony, refreshments served in the lobby throughout the day, friendly staff, gem of a rooftop garden. Great location! Would return again (and sooner, if NYC prices weren't so awful)

Google
Enjoyed this hotel. Staff was very kind, respectful, and helpful. No in-room coffee, but there's a nice machine downstairs with pastries, fruit, and water. Location is great, room nice size. We had a king balcony room facing park ave, and it was quiet at night.

Yelp
Really had a great stay here. The hotel is located in the flatiron area of Manhattan with a lot of things to do and eat. There are a lot of good restaurants nearby and a nice little park. First time I have stayed in this area of NYC and was not disappointed. The hotel itself is pretty awesome. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. They were super nice and really did go above and beyond our expectations. Our room was pretty big for a room in NYC. The bed was a queen size bed. The room had a desk and chair and another chair with an ottoman. The bathroom was a decent size. I did not feel cramped but can't say more than one person could be in there. The room was cleaned everyday which we really appreciated. They also gave 2 water bottle every day. In the lobby they would serve breakfast and keep small snacks out the whole day. For breakfast they had boiled eggs, yogurt, pastries and croissants. They even had a barista making coffees. Rest of the day they had put out cliff bars and scones and other yummy snacks. The price for the room was great. Overall really happy with our stay here and would stay here again!!

Yelp
Have stayed at the Giraffe at least half a dozen times and can't believe I have never left a review. Great location in Murray Hill right on the 6-line, nice rooms, breakfast bar and snacks through the day and a helpful concierge -- all at a reasonable (for NYC) price.

Yelp
We use to stay at W Hotel Union Square but with W's construction, it turned us off and started staying at Hotel Giraffe. Since we always arrive to NY early, we were glad Giraffe was able to accommodate us in few hr early checkin. That has always been a plus wherever we stay. This time, Giraffe was able to allow us check in early. Last few times, they were not able too which was honestly a turn off for us. Big plus for Giraffe this time! As for the staff, they are the most friendliest from the desk staff to the morning breakfast staff! The front desk gentlemen gave us umbrella when it was about to rain. I cant remember his name but we were very thankful for him giving us an umbrella. Breakfast morning staff was top notch! We adore Gabriella! She is the best of the best! It is people like her why we would come back to Hotel Giraffe. It is the staff that makes a business. It has always been and Giraffe has the best staff hands down over W Hotel Union Square! Breakfast was standard. No hot food but more of a continental breakfast. They should consider that because if Hilton can offer hot breakfast, they should be able too because Giraffe is a much more classier and better than Hilton Hampton Inn. Lobby room is soo nice to have coffee and small bite to eat. One thing we were disappointed in was there was NO bottled water or sodas like in the past. We have no idea why. We loved that offering of the Giraffe especially in hot weather and we pay Resort fee of $25 so we do not know why they stopped offering bottled waters, snacks and Sodas even though, they did offer bars, tap water, coffee and fruits. This is the disappointing part of staying at Giraffe. We appreciated these amenities in the past but not this time. Hotel Giraffe, you need to bring back the snacks, bottled water and sodas! We probably ate $5 at most for the coffee, bagels and 2 hard boiled eggs. If people are abusing taking sodas... maybe you should get a fountain soda machine? It was super hot out and we were wishing to take bottled water up to our room. WE were disappointed. As for the room, we love the room suite 206 even though it was noisy at times. Great room super clean, the maid was sooo sweet and asked if we need anything. Again, the staff was superb in all departments! As for the room, they need to update the outlets. There was NO usb connector at all and need to redo the outlet situation because most of people need USB and more outlets for their electronics. We had to bring our own power surge since we stayed there handful of times.. is that sad for us to do that staying at a such luxurious hotel like Giraffe? Room needs to be upgraded in outlet power department. Lastly, Hotel Giraffe needs some sort of loyalty program as well. Will be stay there again? ABSOLUTELY! Mainly because of the location is great and staff is great! Pricing is higher than Hiltons.. but worth the price for us except for the $25 resort fee. Thank you Giraffe for such a wonderful stay! We will be back!

Yelp
This had to be one of the most pleasant hotel experiences I've ever had. Hotel Giraffe is located in one of the greatest parts of the city. I say this because I went to Baruch College, and I know this area fairly well. Much of it has changed with a lot of new businesses and has updated quite a bit since it's been a while since I've been in school, but the area is still amazing. Right upon walking in, I was greeted with the door opening for me. Check in was a breeze, and I was given my room promptly. I was surprised at how small the floors were, but the rooms were super spacious. My room also had a balcony which was so cool. There's also fitness area, that you can enjoy. Being that this was a mini vacation/business trip for me, I wasn't able to partake in any of the amenities except a good nights rest. The staff was quite wonderful and the lobby is spacious and has awesome refreshments (Joe's Chips for the win). Can't wait for my next stay here!

Yelp
Hotel Giraffe is a sweet hotel tucked away from the busy streets and yet it's close to everything you need to see/visit. Communication with them was awesome, they kindly upgraded/approved our request for 2 queen beds within 24 hours of our arrival. The lobby offers snacks and refreshments complimentary and their rooftop bar is a great amenity! Everyone we encountered was so kind and helpful, always offering their assistance. The rooms and bathroom were comfortable and spacious, not to mention quiet! Especially given that our room face a busy intersection, we slept great at night and noise was not an issue. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
I love this hotel! I have never been able to sleep while traveling--all night I usually lie awake and toss and turn. For some unknown reason, I slept like a baby at Hotel Giraffe. Every single night. We had a balcony room and we enjoyed having the door open during the day to hear the city sounds and get fresh air. The hotel has a homey feel to it, right down to the books and live potted plants in our room. The day we arrived the bellhop/doorman gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations for restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The one thing I was disappointed about was most of the reviews I had read mentioned the breakfast and happy hour. These are no longer offered, which I assume is due to Covid. However, there are always snacks and beverages available in the lobby. I will definitely stay at Hotel Giraffe again.

Andrew R.

Yelp
Hotel is decent but they alot of services discontinued. They have closed the on site restaurant, discontinued the happy hour service they once had, and the rooftop garden terrace is just a sitting area now. There are rooms with great views of Park Avenue on the front but they put me in a back room with a view of the alley and very few windows - a depressing room. If staying here make sure you get a room at the front. On balance this hotel is simply a room to sleep in, priced high because it's Park Avenue. There are better options for the price.

Yelp
I noticed this stylish boutique hotel on a cab drive to the airport a few years ago and made a mental note to check it out sometime. Well, I got my opportunity recently when a work-related trip came up, and the company travel agent asked me where I wanted to stay. "Oh, how about the Giraffe?" I said with conviction even though I had no idea what it would be like. I knew the NoMad location was attractive because it was close enough to walk to the office, and it was nice to be close to Madison Square Park and the Flatiron District because it was too damn cold to trek much further. My quiet, spacious room was on the fifth floor with a queen bed and balcony. Not much of a view but who's complaining for $246 per night? There was not only a complimentary continental breakfast in the morning but also complimentary wine and cheese in the evening. However, what really struck me was the exceptional service, especially the bellman who got me a cab to the airport without me asking. There were first-rate dining options close by like Upland across the street and the exceptional 24-hour bistro L'Express a few blocks south (review: http://bit.ly/2Bk6Zxg). This Giraffe is worth sticking your neck out for. Rimshot please. RELATED - Here a collection of New York City hotels I've tried and reviewed: http://bit.ly/2OfTYZr

Yelp
My expectations were exceeded by Hotel Giraffe! I was in the city on business and this hotel came highly recommended by my colleagues. I now see why. To start, the rooms are very spacious for NYC and even have a small balcony. I LOVED the blinds that automatically go up and down with the push of a button by the bed, along with the turndown service, live plants in the room, and bathroom amenities. To top it off, they have a small rooftop with a bar, complimentary wine "hour" from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm (with cheese!), and a basic continental breakfast is also included. The Flatiron location is minutes away from Madison Square Park and central for your Manhattan adventures. There are tons of restaurants around and even a restaurant in the same building as this hotel. The staff was friendly and the room was super clean. I would definitely love to come back here and would recommend checking it out for your next trip!

Daniel B.

Yelp
I've been to this hotel twice. Neither time was by choice, per se. It's the place where I was booked on business travel. But it's a lovely place, with great free wifi in the rooms and the lobby. Perhaps there is even good wifi on the roof deck, but the first time I was there it was winter, and the second time was so hot that I spent as much time indoors as possible. The wine hour is much much longer than an hour. In fact, we were able to take advantage of this amenity both before and after our dinner. And upon returning to the room, it had received turn down service, which included a couple of small chocolates, the blinds shut to block the morning sun, and some relaxing music playing on the clock radio. Well played, Hotel Giraffe. Well played. The included breakfast items may be better than some economy hotels. But you're in New York City people! Skip the free breakfast and find something amazing. It's not about counting calories. It's that any human being can only eat so much. When you're in Manhattan, you should try and make every bite count. Even if you find yourself traveling for work.

Carmen O.

Yelp
Great hotel in the NoMad area! Spent seven nights at the hotel giraffe and was very pleased with my experience. Hotel was clean, staff was friendly, and location was terrific. Great lounge area always fully stocked with snacks and beverages. Daily room service was prompt and kept me flush with toiletries. My only real complaint was the lack of onsite fitness facility. I utilized the NYSC sports club a five minute walk away for a $15 daily fee. Recommend if you're looking for a place to lay your head while in the city!

Clarissa K.

Yelp
Hotel Giraffee was a big surprise for me as before this visit I never even heard of this place. Upon arrival our reservations were a bit screwed up so it took awhile to straighten everything out. Since it was a bit of a mess it left me with a suite the first night and a different room and floor the next. Other than the high floor the suite was not all that in fact it was worse. Between the toilet paper in the toilet and hair in the shower I was fearful that the room was never made up for me, a new guest. That evening I couldn't maneuver either television and someone came up and said the TVs needed to be reset. I didn't go to a hotel so I could point out where maintenance was needed. The plus side of the hotel breakfast was included in the lobby the next morning I got a cappuccino to go and a banana. Also a plus was that it was a smaller hotel so they knew you when you came in and out. This hotel also has turndown chocolates made by Astor Chocolates so you know they made extra efforts to make your stay more comfortable. As for me I would definitely stay here again as it was in walking distance to midtown and shopping. Like they always say location is everything thus the three star review.

Thomas S.

Yelp
Wonderful staff who are always super helpful! The hotel is great for long-term business stays and offers free refreshments 24/7. Also in a very convenient location! My only complaint is that the rooms are a bit dated but overall the price makes it very reasonable.

Kelly M.

Yelp
We recently stayed at the Giraffe hotel. We had stayed at the library hotel previously and wanted to try another hotel in the collection. unfortunately, we were put in an ADU room which was fine except the bathroom floor was level with a curtain through the middle of it and a shower at one end with a toilet at the other. Due to this the floor got completely wet whenever there was an attempt at a shower. It made it slippery and safe and quite horrible to walk on. The engineer did his best to come up with a solution which was rolling up three rubber mats and putting them as a barrier. Unfortunately it didn't really work and we had to use monstrous amounts of towels every time we tried to shower. I was awful and terribly unsafe. The staff was very nice but there is nothing they could do as the hotel was booked. Just horrible!!

Yelp
One of my worst experiences in a hotel so far. SUMMARY -They don't accept international cards. -They are rude and not polite. They won't try to help customers. -They charged me twice arguing that my card was "declined". They don't want to refund the money, they asked me to talk to my bank. It was a US$538 night reservation. The second transaction wasn't declined and they couldn't show me any receipt showing that the second transaction was declines, so I ended up paying almost $US1000 for a very standard hotel in NY. -Rob Devito, the Front Office Manager, instead of trying to help the clients, he confronts the clients blaming him for the problems that the hotel staff has generated. -It seems that the good rating score that they have was achieved some years in the past. They are not the same ones they used to be, so don't trust the current overall rating. FULL STORY We chose Hotel Giraffe for a special night based on the outstanding reviews on Google Maps. Unfortunately, the Front Desk staff is way far from those ratings, including the manager. We paid $538 for a Wednesday night and I honestly feel any $200-$300 hotel would have a much better (and polite) staff/service. We have used our international cards all over the US without any issues. Today, none of them worked when we tried to pay at the hotel. Instead of trying to help us, they just insinuated that we didn't have any money on the cards and that we should call our bank while sitting in the lobby to not disturb other customers (note that there was no other customer at the front desk at that time). That was rude, so we used those cards to pay for our lunch just 20 minutes before we arrived at the hotel. I would have expected Front Office staff to help us, trying with different payment terminals at least, just to double-check that it was not the hotel's fault. Instead of that, they just mentioned, in a very rude way, that they just charged "another foreigners" without any issues. After that, we tried with 2 other credit cards, those two from the US, the last one ended up working so we got access to our room. Surprisingly, the third and the fourth card were charged, with two different amounts. My third card was charged $538 (+$20 that my bank charged me a commission for the transaction), and my fourth card was charged $638 (including a $100 unexpected deposit). When I saw both charges, I went back to the Front Desk. The front office staff was very defensive from the beginning, as if they already knew what had happened. They were just mentioning that it was not their fault and that I had to solve it by myself with my bank. I showed them both charges from Hotel Giraffe from both credit card apps. The Front Office Manager, Rob Devito came into the scene but he kept the same position. Everything was my fault and it was an issue with my bank, so I had to solve it and they would do nothing for me. I would say that, whether is the customer's fault or not, I would expect a Front Office Manager to listen to the customer first, keep a nice and polite tone, and try to help as much as they could. That was not the case at all. Rob kept a very rude attitude since he started talking to me, and he confronted me several times with a very defiant attitude He basically did nothing to try to help me until I asked for proof about those "declined" payments. I then realized that they were doing random charges to our cards, ones including the "deposit" and others without including it. For my third card, they charged $538 but the "decline confirmation" they showed to me was for $638 (not for the $638 that they actually charged me). So they couldn't prove that the charge of $538 wasn't declined and I ended up paying almost $1000 for 1 night at a very standard NY hotel. After having to waste 90 minutes trying to talk with my bank, but I had to hang up the phone so I could at lest walk around NYC... This has been a very frustrating situation. We came here to enjoy NY and we expected not to have any issues, but the staff made it not possible at all. I am very disappointed with my experience at Giraffe. NY is full of hotels, so whenever you decide to pay more than the average prices, you are expecting, at least, a nice and polite Front Desk staff & manager. Not sure if they had a bad day, but they literally ruined my night in New York. I truly hope other customers that visit this hotel have a better experience, so I really envy those other reviews saying that they had an outstanding experience at Hotel Giraffe. Unfortunately, it was not for us. Seems that before they were doing a great job, but not any more. Hope this helps. Thanks

Ian W.

Yelp
We booked the hotel Giraffe for 3 nights during the US Open. We had a lovely stay at "The Library" which is a similar type of hotel owned by the same company. The stay was a great disappointment. When we got the keys to our room, nobody mentioned that we were put into a room for people with disabilities. (Nor did anyone mention it to us when we booked the room) As a result, the bathroom had no door and we could not shower without making the entire bathroom wet and unsafe. They didn't offer to move us until the last night and by then it did not matter. They gave us extra bath mats to act as a "dam" of sorts and We wound up laying towels on the floor, but for this amount of money, one would expert a better alternative solution. We would go back to the library but would not recommend the giraffe based on this experience.

Gabi M.

Yelp
I was fortunate to stay at Hotel Giraffe on a recent two night work trip to NYC and was super pleased with my experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff was welcoming and attentive to my needs. Some of my other favorite things about this lovely locale: *Convenient location! *Complimentary wine and cheese hour *Fabulous amenities including comfy robes and quality toiletries *Complimentary continental breakfast *No issues with the free wifi or phone reception in my room I packed my toothbrush in the same ziploc bag as a mini perfume, so when I went to brush my teeth upon arrival, I found my toothbrush tasted like perfume... blech! Luckily, Hotel Giraffe provided me with a new one in addition to some little travel packets of toothpaste! There are countless possibilities when it comes to finding accommodations in NYC, but if you're lucky enough to stay at Hotel Giraffe, you will not be disappointed. I hope to be back soon!

Sara B.

Yelp
I had a great experience during my stay at Hotel Giraffe. Rooms - clean and spacious with a super comfortable bed. During both of my stays I got lucky and was in a room with a balcony. There is also always plenty of free water in the room which is a plus. Eats - breakfast is included in the stay and it is delicious. Tons of fresh pastries, fruit, yogurts and cereals. They will also make you a to-go cup of coffee if you are in a rush. What's most impressive is the wine and cheese hour that they offer every single day. The spread is fantastic - lots of different cheese and crackers, olives and veggies. Prosecco, wine and coffee drinks are free flowing and a staff member constantly comes around to the table with a refill. Oh, and there is also live pianist. I've never seen anything like this at a hotel before, and I'm convinced that it's what keeps our group coming back during our annual conference. Customer service - A +++. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. There was a stain on my sheet - not a huge issue at all but I did bring it to their attention just so I could get a new clean sheet. They were extremely apologetic, changed the sheets right away and even left wine and chocolates in my room as an apology. Good customer service speaks volumes, and Hotel Giraffe has got it down. If anyone asked me for a NYC hotel recommendation I would send them to Hotel Giraffe without hesitation.

Yelp
My recent stay at Hotel Giraffe was thoroughly exceptional. Before I detail as to why, I also want to mention that setting up a group reservation is a breeze here, thanks to Ray, Director of Sales. I had a bunch of changes leading up to the reservation (and even a mistake thanks to me counting someone twice) and all was handled with ease. My group was handled expertly, with the exact rooms as described and no bizarre mysterious charges (always happens when I book a room block). I've stayed in an array of hotels in Manhattan before, from luxury suites to shoe box budget hotels and the value of Hotel Giraffe is extremely high. December's rates are understandably higher, as it's shopping and holiday season, but not as high as I'd expect for a two room suite. Several of my colleagues had balconies and most had suites with the exception of one or two people. The only room with a much higher rate contained two beds and it was the only room that was left when I had a last minute addition to my room block. My room was on a lower floor and I woke up daily to the music of a Manhattan morning. Yep, it's music to my ears because it brings back fond memories of being an NYU student living on 5th Avenue. You're staying in Manhattan, people. Embrace it! (or stay in a quieter part of Brooklyn). The room felt practically luxuriously-appointed, with plush furniture, surreal Man Ray-style photographs on the walls, cushy drapery and dimmable lights. The bathroom is also spacious and sparkling, with marble countertops and a huge tub/shower. Bath products are basic but they have a menu of available products should you need anything (from toothpaste to ear plugs to a coffeemaker). You'll never hear me saying this, but don't get a coffeemaker. Why have Keurig drip crap when you have access to ALL the complimentary espresso drinks that you care for in the lobby? I didn't take them up on their lovely complimentary breakfast, but damn, that espresso was appreciated. Know what else was appreciated? THAT WINE TIME! What hotel has a three hour complimentary wine "hour" pray tell? Unreal. Yes, there's cheese, which I don't eat, but also mixed nuts and crackers. And the lovely bartendress was the best, kept refilling our glasses. Speaking of the staff, every person I encountered from bellman to reception to servers was outstanding. Outstanding (gotta say it again in case you didn't get it the first time). I had a very busy week with a personal almost-tragedy that went down right prior to check-in and this hotel stands out as being a refuge for me. I feel like I will always book my annual conference here, but also hope to have a staycation night or two ASAP.

Yelp
'Tis the season for yet another exceptional stay at Hotel Giraffe. I've stayed here what, 10 times at this point? It just keeps getting better. I arrived into Manhattan earlier than expected so I was prepared to store my bags and putter around the city, but a room was available for a much appreciated early check in. This time around, I was lucky enough to rest my weary head in a lovely suite with a separate sitting room, immensely comfortable bed, desk area, and luxurious bathroom. Beyond the fabulous amenities, the staff are the real MVPs here. Everyone is so helpful, kind, and accommodating -- the customer service is unreal. From complimentary breakfast to a daily free wine & cheese hour (best part of the day) with a live pianist, Hotel Giraffe just can't be topped. A total gem in the Flatiron district.

Katarina L.

Yelp
An incredible boutique hotel right in Flatiron. I don't really know where to start. The room, maybe? Cozy, huge comfortable bed, and a gigantic bathroom with walls an walls of mirrors. Very clean and never without fresh towels, replenished water bottles, and little chocolates. Hello heaven. Looking at you little chocolates. Every single person I have encountered has been friendly, eager to make sure my stay is going well and looking to help. I can't say enough about the them. Breakfast in the morning is complementary and definitely a little treat. I usually stuck to the fruit salad that was pretty heavy on the honeydew. Classic fruit salad. Nevertheless, it still had a healthy mix of other, more highly coveted, fresh fruit. Besides the fruit, they had plenty of pastries, cereal, hard boiled eggs, etc. And let's not forget the most important part of the day. Good old hot coffee. By my third morning, the amazing staff had my double espresso order down and who doesn't love feeling like a regular? They also would kindly make me one for the road if I needed an extra jolt for my walk. My favorite part of this wonderfully unique hotel was the wine and cheese hour in the lobby each and every evening. Wine, champaign and cheese is complimentary to all guests to enjoy while listening to live piano. It was such a great way to wind down from a really busy day at the office before my group headed out for dinner. And last, but most certainly not least, 1 PM check-out. I am going to say that one more time for the folks in the back. 1PM. Check. Out. If you are planning a trip to NYC, I whole heartedly recommend this hotel. Sleep in and enjoy wine and cheese like the wannabe fancy person you know you are.

Yelp
Staying at Hotel Giraffe was an NYC experience out of a movie. It's right on Park Ave., a minutes walk from the Flatiron area, and absolutely luxurious. HG was more than accommodating and truly was a 5 star experience. Check in was pretty much a breeze. They let me know about the complimentary breakfast in the morning, complimentary wine and cheese in the afternoon, and they gave me a coupon for 20% off at the restaurant located in the building (hey, I'm not made of money so I'll take that coupon). Any time I interacted with the staff it was an absolute dream. My luggage was sent to me and they delivered it up to my room. When I ordered delivery they always called to ask if I'd like it sent up to my room. They have turn down service complete with some delicious chocolates. The view from my room was very New York and I really loved the balcony. It was tiny, but it was so nice opening up the doors and letting in the NYC sounds while I typed away on my laptop. With the doors closed though it was relatively quiet so you'll be perfectly fine if you're not fond of background noise. I didn't explore the hotel as much as I would've liked to, but the next time I'm NYC, I'll seek out HG for my stay first.

Yelp
This hotel was fantastic! I just happened upon it when looking for a hotel room and am so happy I picked it! In NYC, we had a room with a French balcony and room to move around. It was not a huge room but bigger than I had expected They did charge a $25 resort fee per day, but it was worth it. We had good coffee at the hotel each morning and bottled water for the room. When we got there, our luggage was all wet. When I called about their laundry service, they offered to throw the clothes in the dryer. I am so appreciative because it saved us having to find a laundromat to run everything through the dryer. Fantastic hotel. Great location. If we come back to NYC, we are staying there again!

Yelp
Wow Hotel Giraffe. I think I am now spoiled. Living not too far from NYC - when I come here, I normally stay with friends or just come in for the day and go home so I don't usually stay in a hotel. However, now I will definitely think twice about that knowing places like this exist in NYC. The location is great being close to many restaurants and shops that you can walk to and the staff is very helpful in sharing their favorite spots. The rooms are spacious and clean and have everything you need to have a great night sleep. I love the outdoor balcony area!! They have a complimentary breakfast which had an assortment of bagels, pastries, hard boiled eggs, breads, cereals, fruit, and more! They also had daily papers out in the morning that you could take with you if you wished. I am not a paper reader but if I were that would have been awesome. They also had a complimentary wine and cheese hour(s) that went from 5-8. 5-8!!! Wine!! CHEESE!!! We were able to take advantage of this before and after dinner and for "last call" the woman working the bar came over to us to make sure we were okay and offered us one more drink or some cheese to hoard. So sweet. They had a rooftop lounge area which is great because it sort of takes you away from it all. Another thing I loved was the turn down service. When I got back in from the night I was pleasantly surprised to see chocolates, my bed turned down, slippers, the blinds pulled (which went up and down with a switch how fun!) and some soft music playing. I brought some cookies up from the snack area (Yes free snacks) and they were wonderful to provide me a toothbrush and toothpaste since, DOH, I somehow forgot to pack them. I would definitely recommend this hotel when coming to NYC. It was a perfect stay!

Yelp
One area of expertise I lack sorely in is hotels in NYC. Any long time resident will have a tough time recommending places to stay that don't break the bank or are the size of a shoebox. I do know this: I would recommend anyone with a decent budget to give Hotel Giraffe a try. Nestled on a quiet corner of Park Ave near the Flatiron / Murray Hill, it is an ideal hotel destination without the stuffiness of Midtown East or saturation of tourist central. My balcony room was surprisingly spacious and comfortable. While I was on a higher floor (and thus, didn't hear the sirens / construction noise), I reveled in my cool balcony space and super clean bathroom. These boutique hotel rooms feel pseudo luxurious, complete with quality amenities in and out of the room and even turn down service. The bed was equally fabulous, I had no problems getting a good night's rest. The complimentary breakfast in the lobby is on the lighter side, featuring a variety of pastries, cereal, fruits, and cheeses. There is also a happy hour in the same space which includes house wine, champagne, and more cheese. Gym rats will receive passes to any New York Sports Club in Manhattan (though the closest one is on 23rd & Park: http://www.yelp.com/biz/new-york-sports-clubs-new-york-63) and if the weather is good, don't forget about the rooftop. Nothing is more New York than spending some time admiring our endless skyline. The real winner is the service. I never had a problem getting what I needed from the front desk and their doormen are a courteous bunch. They're quick to help with luggage and are superb at hailing a cab for anyone who needs it. If you care about the proximity to awesome businesses and can afford a sub $200 a night hotel room, look no further than Hotel Giraffe.

Yelp
I took my mom to NYC for her birthday weekend, and Hotel Giraffe was our "home base" during that time. From start to finish, everything was wonderful. There was pretty much nothing that would have made our stay more enjoyable. The room was huge, with two queen-size beds, and two desks/vanities. The beds were super comfortable. They left a bottle of red wine and chocolates in our room the first night when I "slipped" and told them it was her birthday. Super nice touch. There were always snacks, fresh fruit, and water in the lobby, and even a self-serve espresso machine. Continental breakfast, and complimentary wine served at happy hour. There's also a restaurant, Bread and Tulips, on site as well. The location (Flatiron) was convenient for us, close to transportation, walking distance to tons of restaurants, Madison Square Park (great people watching!), and shopping. I cannot recommend Hotel Giraffe highly enough. This was our second birthday trip to NYC and although typically we'd choose to stay in a different neighborhood every time we visit, we may just end up here again.

Yelp
Great hotel the rooms were clean and the staff was extremely helpful. The lighting is extremely low, and it kinda makes you a little sleepy :). I was disappointed that there was no breakfast available. Snacks in the lobby were OK.

Yelp
I want to love this hotel, I really really do BUT this is my second stay and I left again unsatisfied. Upon arrival, at 3 PM, our rooms were not ready. When we returned from dinner in Tribeca around 7 PM, we arrived to a room that smelled beyond awful (for lack of a better description, it smelled like a hockey bag). After contacting the front desk, someone came up and preceded to spray air freshener into the vent...needless to say this DID NOT solve the problem. We were told no rooms were available and we could potentially move to a new one the next day. On my way out the door the next morning, I stopped at the front desk and asked if there were any open rooms I could move into at check-in time and was told, with a very confused look, that the hotel was not full and I could move that morning. Yes, I was ticked after having to "sleep" in a gym bag smelling room all night! After this experience, all I can say is that the customer service is sub-par and I do not think I will give them a third try. I prefer their sister hotel; Hotel Elysee. They are much more accommodating, their attention to detail exceeds average and their onsite bar, the monkey bar, is far superior than the one attached to the giraffe (sorry drinks matter).

Yelp
This is probably one of the nicest hotels I have been to in such a long time. I have literally traveled the world and stayed at both hotels and air bnbs. If I had to pick a top 3, this hotel would be one of them. They start off right with such an amazing location on park street. It's so easy to get there and to get around. If you are driving they also have a valet service. It's 45 bucks, which I know is a lot, but your your car is in good hands. They also deliver it right to the door when your ready to leave. The hotel itself is beautiful and full of class. When you walk into their gorgeous lobby, you will feel extremely welcome. Whether it's the courteous staff or the snacks they leave out for you to have. They also have a wine and cheese set up from 5pm to 8pm and breakfast the next morning. The rooms are so lovely. As you can see from mine, the room is perfect. They also have balcony doors that open right up to a balcony where you can sit and relaxing while watching the city below you. You definitely must check this hotel out next time your in the city!

Yelp
This review is more about the hotel happy hour. I did not stay at the hotel but went to the happy hour with colleagues that were staying there. The hostess, Gabriela is amazing! Friendly, attentive and cheerful! Wine, cheese and snacks are complementary for guests. It was a great experience and even included live piano music. I was staying at a nearby hotel and their happy hour paled in comparison. I will be back to stay on my next visit.

Yelp
Stayed recently and it was very pleasant albeit brief stay. Look forward to visiting again.

Yelp
Here's how much I love this hotel: the constant tree shredding/car crushing/trash collection kept me from sleeping soundly, yet the Giraffe still gets a perfect score. Again, I slept like shit, and the hotel still wins. Giraffe thinks of the little things that make an extended stay feel like home, without feeling like an Extended Stay, if y'know what I mean... No? Fine. Turndown service with bedside chocolates, a cable TV that acts like cable at home (On Demand!), a walkable Juliet balcony, complimentary bottled water, and a kinder, gentler one-ply TP. Meanwhile, the lobby welcomes your morning grumblings with a free continental pastry and cereal buffet, and pacifies your post-work prandial pursuits with a wine and cheese hour - again, gratis. The entire staff is impossibly polite, dealing with shattered champagne flutes (not my fault) and spilled coffee (my fault) with a genuine smile, and a demeanor that screamed, "No really, it's perfectly acceptable." There are no gimmicks at Hotel Giraffe - no space age, in room conveniences, nor are there nouveau design elements. On the contrary, the polished efficiency and minimalistic chic stir Mad Men allure, intuiting and delivering what you need rather than devices to distract you from things you're missing.

Yelp
Husband and I were invited to an event and this is where they made reservations for us. Arrived on a Sunday (entrance is on 26th); we stayed for 3 nights. Pros: Very large room; living room with door separating bedroom and bathroom in hallway Balcony Many closets (we had 4) 2 thermostats (one in living room & one in bedroom) Many layered blinds/curtains to block out light Free Wi-Fi Free Wine & Cheese from 5pm-8pm every night with piano player Free Coffee & Pastries in the morning (never tried this) Free access to New York Sports Club (since they don't have a gym) Turndown service w/chocolates Umbrella in room (excellent, since it rained every day we were there) Couple of bottles of water provided free of charge (plus there's a refrigerator in the room to keep your water cold). Cons: Elevators were a bit slow More children than I expected (had a baby crying next door which you could only hear when standing by door; plus several children at wine & cheese hour) Free Wine was of lower quality (I didn't try the cheese) Overall, good service & great location.

Yelp
Great vibes, very classy : only come here if you want to enjoy the heart of NYC! Less expensive then others downtown - and it's worth every penny if you want a quality experience second to none.

Yelp
Gem of a hotel! I'm really glad I found it and would absolutely stay here again. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff was very responsive and friendly. We loved the wine and cheese hours and also the snacks and breakfast in the lobby. The location is very good and easy to walk anywhere. The subway is close and we felt very safe at all times. Plenty of good spots to eat at near the hotel.

Yelp
Color me impressed! And I'm not easily impressed when it comes to hotels. I think it's perfectly rated at four and half stars. Who knew that you hotel rooms of this size were even available in NYC. Not only was the room spacious, it even had a balcony! Even though I was there during the weekdays, it was booked solid the night before check-in, so we weren't able to get an early check-in. They did store our luggage for us without hesitation. The bed was comfy and there were several rare amenities in the room. Things like q-tips, cotton balls, a scale, house shoes, robes, and a safe are all items that you don't find in your every day hotels, but were pretty nice to have during my three night stay. Oh, and there were plants... not the artificial kind, but the kind that I can't seem to keep alive in my house, so those were nice to have around for a few days too. The free breakfast and the happy hour were both added perks too. The happy hour included free champagne, wine, cheese, crackers, olives, nuts and an assortment of veggies. The turn down service was also an added perk. They literally roll the shade down and turn on soft music. If you decide to turn down the shade before then, the automatic shade opener switch is near the bed. And don't think that the shade and music completely drown out the outside noise... it is NYC. The only annoying thing was that the morning of checkout, the alarm clock went off at 6am and we didn't set it and it didn't go off any other mornings.

Yelp
First of all, let me say that I loved my stay at Hotel Giraffe. Even if this place wasn't any better than your average Motel 6, the location cannot be beaten. Right on Park Ave and walking distance to pretty much anywhere you want to walk, you are seconds away from the subway and surrounded by restaurants and shopping galore. The staff at the hotel was incredibly attentive. They didn't miss a beat even if it was just a greeting while walking in the door and heading to your room. The self-serve breakfast and happy hour were certainly superior to most. Seriously, complimentary wine AND cheese?! That right there is the what dreams are made of, my friends. The rooms are beautiful and ginormous by NYC standards. It came with all the regular amenities and went above and beyond with a patio that opened up over Park Ave. The nightly turn-down service was nice. It was nice to come back to my room with the shades down, relaxing music playing, and yummy chocolate on the pillow. Some of the reviews that I had read were people complaining about the noise. Here's the thing: You're in NYC. On Park Ave. Good luck getting away from hustle and bustle and the sounds of traffic. It's part of it, right?! I didn't have any issue sleeping through the night. My single complaint is a big one. When you stay at a nice hotel, there are a few things that you come to expect. General cleanliness. Hot water in the shower that doesn't run out. Nice sheets (that's a big one). Nice sheets. Right? These are reasonable. And I think there should be a sheet to toilet paper ratio that should be respected. If you are going to provide nice, high-quality bedding to sleep in, why would you provide sand paper for your delicates?! Call me a toilet paper snob. I don't care. I have standards, people! Though it's probably good that the Hotel Giraffe didn't meet my toilet paper expectations. There's a good chance that if they had, I never would have left.

Yelp
Where do we begin? I have stayed at many properties over the past 20 years, both for work and pleasure. I have stayed at high-end resorts as well as basic business traveler stops. Hotel Giraffe is by far the most impressive hotel that I have ever stayed at. It is the cleanest hotel that my wife and I have ever experienced. You could not even pull dirt up from the countertops. We always perform a pre-cleaning every time we stay at a hotel. I will tell you, the Clorox wipes were white after we cleaned. The concierge and front desk staff were amazing along with the host of the nightly wine and cheese reception. This review does not do this hotel justice. If I were able, I would give it 10 stars. We will definitely be back at the Hotel Giraffe when we return to New York City at the end of the year.

Yelp
I refuse to stay anywhere else but here. Next time I go back up to NYC, this is going to be my home away from home. I initially only planned on a one night stay (Fri-Sat) and was going to stay with a friend for the rest of my long Labor Day weekend, but I loved the hotel so much I ended up booking a night from Mon-Tue. Let me give you a list of reasons as to why you should stay here, and go nowhere else. 1) Service: EVERYONE was friendly, professional, helpful, and just generally awesome. Since I was checking in so late on a friday night (closer to 11 pm), I was going to miss out on room service, and would be too tired to go out to a restaurant (restaurant in hotel closed at 11). I'd emailed for a list of restaurants that would deliver so late, and they (excuse the pun) totally delivered. Within minutes of emailing the request, I got a list of recommendations. 2) Great location: Flatiron district, lots of places to eat/hang out within walking distance, and close to public transpo. 3) Low key hotel - no tacky in your face bling - but really elegantly appointed. The lobby/lounge is small and only for hotel guests, as there's a little snack/food bar for guests to partake. Free continental breakfasts (pastries, bagels, fruit, cereal AND boiled eggs. YES!, plus kickass coffee machine, milk, yogurts and juices. In the evenings, there is a wine and cheese reception, and then cookies and snacks available 24/7. May I recommend that you eat all the cookies and drink all the coffee? I tried.) 4) Sweet Swanky Suite: Sell you first born child and book one, I don't care. It's worth it. Spacious, with a teeeeeny balcony with a lovely view - got room 1006, then 1106) Comfortable couch, large bathroom with good water pressure, and bed of magic. (Request a mattress topper if you like softer beds, as the mattress is a bit firm. Also, ask for all the pillows. All of it.) 5) Quiet and restful: after a full day of running around the city, it's always awesome to go back to your room, knowing you'll be able to sleep the sleep of the just. Never was bothered by noise, and traffic noises on the upper floor was negligible. 6) The Roof: I usually took my breakfast of champions (coffee, nicotine, boiled eggs and...more coffee) up on the roof, and a late night (ok, more like 1 or 2 am) relaxing smoke before I turned in. It's quiet, it's gorgeous, and I felt like a million bucks relaxing in such a nicely landscaped/laid out space. It apparently is open to the public in the evenings as a bar. 7) Can I reiterate how pleasant and professional the staff is? Consider it reiterated. 8) FREE WIFI. Free, EXCELLENT wifi. In short: Hotel Giraffe is A++ amazing, will stay again. Soon.

Yelp
Stayed there in March. Hotel was nice and clean. Great location and much more reasonably priced than some others in the area. I like that is not very 'sceney' and is a quiet place to spend a few days. Shout out to Rob at the front desk who is great.

Nicole R.

Yelp
Review based on rooftop experience only: What a gorgeous rooftop in the Flat Iron District!!! During a recent NYC bachelorette party, a group of us rented out the rooftop for a private wine tasting. Service was phenomenal & views were amazing. Perfect venue for a smaller private gathering. Would love to stay at this hotel @ some point. Great area too; I'm a fan of the Flat Iron District.

Yelp
This boutique hotel is a peaceful oasis in the middle of Manhattan. We had a spacious suite and the staff was very attentive and welcoming. You can't beat the location and free breakfast and happy hour. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Team Hotel Giraffe!

Julie Z.

Yelp
Love, love, love this boutique hotel. They were on their Ps and Qs and were so accommodating. I forgot my toothbrush and toothpaste- no problem= just picked up some at the front desk. Forgot my razor- no problem= picked one up at the front desk. I had a button fall off my shirt- no problem= picked up a sewing kit at the front desk. They had complimentary wine and light snacks each night and a good assortment of breakfast foods in the morning. I always had fresh, juicy berries and a latte. Great way to start the day when you're out of town. Room was more than adequate with very tall ceilings and a huge comfortable bed. They had a relaxing top floor (12th I think) balcony for all guest to hang out. Only thing missing was a pool or at least a hot tub.

Richard C.

Yelp
Just got back from a 2 night stay in a king balcony room. It was our first time at this hotel & will now be our go to place.Room was spacious & even though the balcony was a walk out we still enjoyed the view. Staff was extremely friendly and very accommodating. I have never seen some many items complimentary in the lobby...water, coffee/cappuccino, chips, soda, fruit etc...we stayed a month ago at another NYC hotel and could not even get a bottle of water. Great location!!! Looking forward to going back soon!!!

Yelp
I worked with Hotel Giraffe over the course of a few months to plan a large booking for my teammates who were visiting. I'm not sure if you've ever had to organize a large group stay, but I've literally never done it before without finding some sort of mistake on the billing, rooming list, or not hearing back from the contact for weeks. On top of that, we all know what a crazy ripoff Manhattan hotels can be. Throughout the entire process my contact, Ashley, was amazing - so quick to reply, on top of her shizz, professional, and friendly. And the prices were lower than comparable places. Their free breakfasts and wine hours (actually three hours) allowed me to actually save a ton in feeding these peeps throughout the week. And these are not skimpy complimentary treats: we're talking full glasses of wine or bubbly with LOTS of refills In fact, I had to ask them to stop refilling at some point because I was worried that I'd be too tipsy before dinner! Has that ever happened to you at a hotel before?? The service was phenomenal at every stop. It's a classy, luxurious hotel but with the service of a friendly mom and pop B&B. My guests complained about the street noise at night: garbage trucks, construction, etc. But as someone who lives in a busy part of Manhattan I can tell you that it's pretty much par for the course to have to deal with those jarring noises most nights. I guess Hotel Giraffe could invest in some more sound blocking windows, but other than that there's only so much they can do about being in the middle of the Flatiron!

Jordana S.

Yelp
Love this unique, boutique hotel. Never too crowded, this place is nice and relaxed. Quirky giraffe theme is adorable. Beautiful lobby lounge area. Gorgeous rooftop bar. The rooms are spacious with a comfy king bed and your own terrace overlooking park avenue! Perfect choice for our special night out staycation on the city.

Stephanie Y.

Yelp
How do you rate a five star hotel that ended up being one of the worst hotels I've slept at? This boutique hotel is wonderful. From the friendly greeters and front desk to the complimentary continental breakfast filled with fresh fruit salad, pastries and hard boiled eggs, the wine & cheese hours (read three hours of free wine, bubbly, cheese and nuts) and the all day snacks of Milano's and muffins. The room is spacious for NYC standards and quite tastefully decorated and I loved the turn down service. The strong wifi is free throughout the building and there's HBO! So many wins makes this hotel undoubtedly five stars all around. So, what's the problemo, Steph? My room located at 403 was a sleeping nightmare. The bed wasn't the most comfy, but that wasn't the problem. The problem was that from about 645-730 it sounded like I was sleeping in a construction site/garbage landfill. Trucks honking, moving, lifting, every noise possible to wake you up. It was not fun. On top of that I mean 403 was at the elevator, so while other guests were waiting for their elevator and making small talk, alas, I could hear all of that pretty clearly and loudly through the door. One more complaint to throw on: the shade/curtain didn't quite cover the window allowing light to seep through making it a noisy and bright room. My three nights at Hotel Giraffe ended up making me a very pampered, well fed, but exhausted guest. I would undoubtedly stay here again if the price is right. Ear plugs. I don't like sleeping with them, but I'd have to get used to it. The perks and overall feel of the place is too good to give up. That, or request/upgrade to a higher floor.

Rachel C.

Yelp
My favorite hotel... Maybe ever??? Where else do you find such stellar service, unique ambiance and comfy rooms? The real question is where else in NYC do you find that PLUS a spacious room (in NYC no less) AND complimentary snacks ALL. DAY. LONG. Seriously this place just was top notch. I don't think I'll ever stay anywhere else in NYC. The location is great and easily accessible to tourist attractions as well as great restaurants/bars in the area. Did I mention the complimentary food? I did... But nothing in New York is free, so this is so awesome. They have a pretty solid breakfast selection with pastries, fresh fruit, coffee/tea and even a small espresso maker. The staff will kindly help you with whatever you need. They also have snacks throughout the day you can help yourself to, as well as cookies at night! The room like I said is so spacious for New York, and the beds were comfy. I loved that you even had access to a tiny balcony. Plus, black-out shades, yes please! The bathroom was also spacious and had a nice large counter. I just can't get over the space! Large closet tops the whole room off! Do yourself a favor and splurge on a stay here. You will not be disappointed, because you know... Free snacks!

Yelp
What a hidden gem on Park Ave! We came here for drinks on the roof for my friend's birthday on a Weds night. She reserved the space from 7-9pm. Our waitress was so attentive and handled the entire roof so smoothly. Excellent drink menu, too! We didn't eat any of the small plates but I saw flatbreads and meatballs on the menu - both of which I'm sure are great. I DRANK... - Grapefruit Margherita - Looooove grapefruit + tequila, so this is a winning combo for me. - Wine, wine wine Atmosphere is amazing on the roof! Excellent views, lots of greenery, and a huge giraffe statue to capture the name of the place.

Yelp
Let's get this out of the way: I've never stayed here. But: 1. I have seen the rooms,* and they are lovely. 2. The staff is fantastic. And when I say staff, I really mean Gabriella. Gabi (we're friends now) runs the complimentary wine hour in the lobby (at least sometimes), and she clearly understands what hospitality is all about. I don't know that I've ever felt so welcome, even at hotels I was actually staying it. I drank prosecco, ate cheese and olives, and we danced, and we cried. And we laughed and had a really really really good time. Just like Macklemore said we would. _____________ *I know what you're thinking, but no woman would ever take me back to their room (except my wife, which is why I had to marry her immediately). I just had to pee, and they don't have a bathroom in the lobby so my friend let me use hers. I only rummaged through her suitcase a little bit, I swear.
