There are mainly 2 components to a hotel stay- the infrastructure and the services provided by the staff. While the hotel is in an excellent location with popular markets, eateries and sights in close proximity (within 2-3min walk), the rooms and hotel could certainly do with a facelift. |The shortfall in the infrastructure is more than made up by the service provided by the excellent staff at Godwin. We asked for a room at the higher floors with a sea view, and were promptly showed 2, and chose the one we liked. Having lived and travelled in mutiple countries through the years, I can vouch for the exceptional service provided by the hotel staff. Right from the guards at the entrance to the reception staff(Mr. Singh and Mr. Joel) make you feel very welcome. They were always at hand to suggest good eateries and places to shop and visit. Daniel manages the breakfast buffet and the drinks bar on the 9th floor. An absolute gem of a person!! He entertained us with myriad stories from his experience in the Middle East and the other places he worked. Always made our day to see him around. Mr. Tara Singh and the other support staff were always around to cater during breakfast time, even though this was a self service. |We noted that the turn around time for room service was pretty quick, be it ordering food, or sorting the wifi, or even getting a bottle of water.|We will definetely miss the warmth of the people who work at Godwin.
