Hotel Goldgasse (Salzburg, Austria) 16 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"From Salzburg you might expect wedding-cake opulence and a relentless focus on opera. So when a hotel like Hotel Goldgasse challenges your expectations with a healthy dose of modern design, it’s a welcome surprise. A central Old Town location on the south bank of the Salzach has much to do with the hotel’s appeal, barely a stone’s throw from the university and the Baroque cathedral. Goldgasse’s public spaces and guestrooms retain some period ambience, clad in classic stucco and antique stone flooring. On the ground floor, the hyper-regional Gasthof Goldgasse preserves the essence of a traditional Austrian inn, down to the knots in the ceiling beams and the wine list bursting with national pride. You’ll get a sense of the building’s heritage in the copper tableware; these Kupferpfandl’n reflect the livelihood of the skilled coppersmiths who once ran a workshop here. Be sure to try the city’s famed specialty, Salzburger Nockerl: golden-brown peaked dumplings crowned with powdered sugar." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed here in Aug 2025. Fantastic location and beautiful hotel. The hostess Ulrika was amazing. She welcomed us and offered sparkling wine and soft drinks whilst she checked us in. She suggested places to visit and places to eat. She escorted to our wonderful rooms, a very personal touch. The breakfast was amazing and room bar had soft drinks and water for us to use free of charge. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Lovely.

This place is amazing. Right in the heart of the old town and within walking distance of EVERYTHING you want to see. Its on a charming quaint little alley street. Idyllic spot above a Michelin rated restaurant. Food was excellent here. |It is an SLH property so you can expect high quality accommodations and they definitely deliver. Rooms were very nice and clean and well furnished. |The onsite breakfast was outstanding. |Service was wonderful. Ulricke was the woman who checked us in. I think she is the manager. She is wonderful and helps you with all your needs. |I would definitely come back here the next time we come back to Salzburg. Its such an amazing city! And this is the perfect hotel to stay at when enjoying this city!

We visited this hotel in Aug 2025. It’s a wonderful hotel. The hostess, Ulrika was wonderful host. She made us feel very welcome. Offered drinks and made us at ease during the check in process. She escorted us to our rooms (which were upgraded). Minibar was free with some soft drinks and water. She also recommended places to visit and eat. The breakfast was fantastic. ||Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Very well located hotel in the old town with a decent restaurant too. The suite was very comfortable to return to after a day out touring the many possibilities in beautiful Salzburg. We didn’t come across any lounges or public rooms - it is a ground floor restaurant with bedrooms on the floors above - but, in a city as lovely as Salzburg, most people want to be out and about!|A superb welcome upon arrival from a gregarious host who offered us a glass of fizz and sat us down to explain what was on offer in Salzburg - every hotel should have someone who does this…very few do…and I’m not sure I can ever recall anyone doing it as well as the lady here!

We stayed at Hotel Golgasse in Salzburg in May 2025. If I could give this hotel a six star rating, I would. Firstly, the lady who runs the hotel is an absolute delight. Her name is Ulrike. She shows a genuine warmth and care for her guest. A check in process with Ulrike which is unrivalled anywhere we have been in the world. Welcome drinks, and a warm towel upon arrival. The rooms are beautiful and decorated with modern fixtures. Shower and bathroom very clean and soaps and shampoos are of a very high quality. The rooms smell amazing and when you return after a busy day sightseeing, it is so nice to come home to a nice smelling and serviced room. Beds comfortable. Hotel located in the old part of town and in close walking distance to the major attractions. This hotel comes with my highest of recommendations.

A wonderful stay in a great location. ||Greeted by Ulrike, whose warmth, humor and professionalism really set the tone for a great stay. The room was spacious, quiet and comfortable. Bathroom was like a mini spa with luxury amenities and a powerful rain shower head. There are soft bathrobes and slippers available which was a nice treat. ||Dinner in the restaurant was excellent— fresh, well prepared food and enhanced by professional, courteous and helpful wait staff. The restaurant has 2 seatings, 6pm and 8pm. Make a reservation. ||Breakfast was also delightful. Great selection of fresh breads, cheeses, fruit juices, coffee, and eggs made to order. Katerina brings a motherly warmth and attentiveness to the breakfast experience. ||It wasn’t easy to get this hotel booking. There are only 16 rooms. Plan ahead.

Agree with amazing receptionist. She made our stay. Friendly helpful super caring. This could have been a flawless city break but unfortunately there’s a rude waitress working during breakfast shift that refused a 4 year old for an additional croissant, and refused a packed breakfast (as this service is not “available” - really? For an SLH?). Yes we had to leave early (7.30am which isn’t that bad). In the end the receptionist lady saved the day as she helped us with a packed breakfast to go. We are thankful. Understand it’s not the most young family orientated hotel but this service was just shocking. I’d also comment on her attitudes being very insistent with other guests versus towards us. Not sure what it was. Lack of experience and training i suppose which again shocking for a SLH. Rated 2 for service because with a small kid we do love our breakfast and dining time together. Wont go back with family again.

Fabulous hotel in every way. Quaint with old world charm. Right in the centre of historic Salzburg close to everything. A wonderful hostess who greeted me with a glass of bubbly. And an absolutely extraordinary breakfast served to my table. Comfortable bedroom with free drinks and snacks. Just perfection!

Yelp
Everything about our experience at Hotel Goldgasse was a 5 star. We were greeted at check in with a big smile, hot towels, and a glass of sparkling elderberry infused water, and amazing customer service. We were later taken to our room where we found a beautifully decorated room with a gorgeous view down in to the streets of Salzburg. The only thing I would have to say is that if you are a light sleeper you might want to request a room on the other side of the building if at all possible. We could hear people outside walking around throughout the night, but we also kept our window open the entire night and it did not bother us at all. The restaurant attached to the hotel is a Michelin star. We unfortunately didn't get the chance to eat there. Anyways, look no further and book this hotel already! I promise you wont regret it. GREAT LOCATION!
