We felt very welcome at Hotel Goldgasse. The building is very old and characterful, with rooms that look modern and cool, decorated with splashes of bold colour and an opera theme. There is an inclusive minibar (soft drinks and Nespressos), and a glass of fizz on arrival. I was worried that Brits wouldn’t be popular after Brexit but Goldgasse (and Salzburg generally) made us feel very at home. Beds are huge with 2 x single duvets.||They invite you to not have the chambermaid service any day you please saving you €10 which was good. As other reviewers have said, the manager is a big personality, which is part of the charm. They were very helpful with any questions, taxis etc. They also provide umbrellas which is a nice touch.||The location is the best part. All the main attractions; Mozarts birthplace, the fortress, Dom Quartier, Catacombs etc all nearby, and being nestled in a pedestrian cobbled street was lovely. Breakfast is 7-10am and the moment you sit down someone will simply say ‘Eggs - fried, scrambled or omelette??’ at you. Rest assured you don’t have to have eggs - a platter of ham, bread, cheese, croissants, jams coffee and juice will arrive shortly after.||If you plan to do the Sound of Music or Hallstatt tours (we did both) they leave from Mirabell Palace is about 15-20 mins walk away.
