This place is amazing. Right in the heart of the old town and within walking distance of EVERYTHING you want to see. Its on a charming quaint little alley street. Idyllic spot above a Michelin rated restaurant. Food was excellent here. |It is an SLH property so you can expect high quality accommodations and they definitely deliver. Rooms were very nice and clean and well furnished. |The onsite breakfast was outstanding. |Service was wonderful. Ulricke was the woman who checked us in. I think she is the manager. She is wonderful and helps you with all your needs. |I would definitely come back here the next time we come back to Salzburg. Its such an amazing city! And this is the perfect hotel to stay at when enjoying this city!

We stayed at Hotel Golgasse in Salzburg in May 2025. If I could give this hotel a six star rating, I would. Firstly, the lady who runs the hotel is an absolute delight. Her name is Ulrike. She shows a genuine warmth and care for her guest. A check in process with Ulrike which is unrivalled anywhere we have been in the world. Welcome drinks, and a warm towel upon arrival. The rooms are beautiful and decorated with modern fixtures. Shower and bathroom very clean and soaps and shampoos are of a very high quality. The rooms smell amazing and when you return after a busy day sightseeing, it is so nice to come home to a nice smelling and serviced room. Beds comfortable. Hotel located in the old part of town and in close walking distance to the major attractions. This hotel comes with my highest of recommendations.

A wonderful stay in a great location. ||Greeted by Ulrike, whose warmth, humor and professionalism really set the tone for a great stay. The room was spacious, quiet and comfortable. Bathroom was like a mini spa with luxury amenities and a powerful rain shower head. There are soft bathrobes and slippers available which was a nice treat. ||Dinner in the restaurant was excellent— fresh, well prepared food and enhanced by professional, courteous and helpful wait staff. The restaurant has 2 seatings, 6pm and 8pm. Make a reservation. ||Breakfast was also delightful. Great selection of fresh breads, cheeses, fruit juices, coffee, and eggs made to order. Katerina brings a motherly warmth and attentiveness to the breakfast experience. ||It wasn’t easy to get this hotel booking. There are only 16 rooms. Plan ahead.

Agree with amazing receptionist. She made our stay. Friendly helpful super caring. This could have been a flawless city break but unfortunately there’s a rude waitress working during breakfast shift that refused a 4 year old for an additional croissant, and refused a packed breakfast (as this service is not “available” - really? For an SLH?). Yes we had to leave early (7.30am which isn’t that bad). In the end the receptionist lady saved the day as she helped us with a packed breakfast to go. We are thankful. Understand it’s not the most young family orientated hotel but this service was just shocking. I’d also comment on her attitudes being very insistent with other guests versus towards us. Not sure what it was. Lack of experience and training i suppose which again shocking for a SLH. Rated 2 for service because with a small kid we do love our breakfast and dining time together. Wont go back with family again.

This was a great find! It was a real gem in the heart of Old Town. Well maintained and the staff and service were among the best we’ve experienced! Bar none! Ulrika Koller went above and beyond during our stay. With all the restricted areas for cars, we couldn’t find the property. I called and spoke with Ulrika, who directed us and them came out to meet us, as we were still lost! 😂. She showed us the way and was so sweet. They also had an issue with our room and Ulrika was more than accommodating and really went above to make things right. I cannot say enough good things about this property. If you come to Salzburg, you must stay here!! We will be back. Thank you Ulrika and I believe his name was Christian. You made this the best stay of our epic trip!

We felt very welcome at Hotel Goldgasse. The building is very old and characterful, with rooms that look modern and cool, decorated with splashes of bold colour and an opera theme. There is an inclusive minibar (soft drinks and Nespressos), and a glass of fizz on arrival. I was worried that Brits wouldn’t be popular after Brexit but Goldgasse (and Salzburg generally) made us feel very at home. Beds are huge with 2 x single duvets.||They invite you to not have the chambermaid service any day you please saving you €10 which was good. As other reviewers have said, the manager is a big personality, which is part of the charm. They were very helpful with any questions, taxis etc. They also provide umbrellas which is a nice touch.||The location is the best part. All the main attractions; Mozarts birthplace, the fortress, Dom Quartier, Catacombs etc all nearby, and being nestled in a pedestrian cobbled street was lovely. Breakfast is 7-10am and the moment you sit down someone will simply say ‘Eggs - fried, scrambled or omelette??’ at you. Rest assured you don’t have to have eggs - a platter of ham, bread, cheese, croissants, jams coffee and juice will arrive shortly after.||If you plan to do the Sound of Music or Hallstatt tours (we did both) they leave from Mirabell Palace is about 15-20 mins walk away.

We loved this hotel! The location was great, it was very quiet and the unique decor was fun! The manager Ulrike was the best part of our stay! She was very friendly and helpful. She made a point to greet us everyday and also give us a sweet send off that included refreshments for a long days journey. ❤️

Fabulous hotel in every way. Quaint with old world charm. Right in the centre of historic Salzburg close to everything. A wonderful hostess who greeted me with a glass of bubbly. And an absolutely extraordinary breakfast served to my table. Comfortable bedroom with free drinks and snacks. Just perfection!

Yelp
Everything about our experience at Hotel Goldgasse was a 5 star. We were greeted at check in with a big smile, hot towels, and a glass of sparkling elderberry infused water, and amazing customer service. We were later taken to our room where we found a beautifully decorated room with a gorgeous view down in to the streets of Salzburg. The only thing I would have to say is that if you are a light sleeper you might want to request a room on the other side of the building if at all possible. We could hear people outside walking around throughout the night, but we also kept our window open the entire night and it did not bother us at all. The restaurant attached to the hotel is a Michelin star. We unfortunately didn't get the chance to eat there. Anyways, look no further and book this hotel already! I promise you wont regret it. GREAT LOCATION!
