Hotel Gotham Manchester

We had been badly let down by another hotel for NYE and had to scramble to find an alternative at late notice - and we were lucky enough to spot Hotel Gotham.||Great central location in a gorgeous building - very secure and stylish.||We chose a quite pricey package but overall I would say it was worth it. Our room was lovely - quite large although strangely also designed weirdly and was a bit tight to move around in places. ||The event itself started with some champagne as you arrived, followed by canapés in the plush bar area. Service was excellent and there was a great atmosphere.||Then each group was taken up to their table in the restaurant - we got a nice table. Again, the service was very good and as you would expect on NYE, everyone was having a good time.||Everything was really well orchestrated by the excellent manager, Jenny Oh - who as well as dazzling in her sparkly red shoes, had everything running like clockwork and she was very attentive to her guests. She subsequently wrote an email to thank the guests for attending and making it such a great evening - which I thought was a nice touch. Jenny is clearly born to work in hospitality!||The five course meal was good - not each course was to our tastes, but you are trying to please a variety of tastes and am aware you can’t please all the people all the time! Food was well cooked and presented.||Then back up to the bar to welcome in 2026 - more champagne served and we watched the fireworks in the city centre from the outside balconies. Fabulous. Didn’t stick around as it was chilly - but midnight feast of some lovely bacon butties were waiting for us. ||All in all, it was a fabulous night - then throw in a really great breakfast and a late check out!

Yes, this is a lovely smart and trendy venue with all the mod-cons that make this a top class hotel on paper, however the truth is that it's the staff that make this place the wonderful experience it truly is. From the moment our taxi turned up outside the front doors and the concierge grabbed our bags with the biggest welcoming smile, to the lady at the reception desk who just couldn't do enough - true customer service at its best! Well done team, we will be back!

When staying at a 5*, having a nice entrance and a good first impression is key.|The door chap was very pleasant and down to earth but the entrance is just missing that 5* wow. I get it. Due to current financial situations, Im assuming the entrance as been moved to accommodate Gordon Ramseys restaurant.||People have commented on a smell. I found this an unusual smell, not unpleasant but I just couldnt put my finger on what it was. The smell was worst in the foyer and in the reception area. It might be from the building being renovated. ||Our room was very stylish in the Art Deco theme and the bathroom was rather large.||We had a lovely breakfast in the Honey reception. 5* experience, plentiful range of food and a lovely cooked full English.||All in all in was a lovely stay.||Our £99 deposit was refunded 2 days later. I paid on a debit card, no issues.|PS: Im not a prude in an way but I found the 'Romance' box in the minibar very surprising and not what i expected to find in a 5*

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Hotel Gotham for the magnificent organisation of my milestone birthday soirée (Luis Baessa). A special mention must go to Luis, who was an absolute star ⭐. From start to finish, he showed genuine empathy, kindness, and an exceptional level of professionalism. Nothing was too much trouble, and his calm, attentive approach made the entire evening run seamlessly. Luis is truly one of the most professional individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Hotel Gotham should most definitely keep hold of this magnificent man, he is a real asset to your team. I salute him and not forgetting his professional team. Thank you for helping to make such an important celebration so memorable. 💫💫

We have stayed here multiple times, already from the very opening of the hotel. Celebrated 50th birthday and anniversaries here. Needless to say we love it here. |Due to much traveling we haven’t been able to be here as much as we wanted, so it’s been a year since last stay. |Not much have changed.|We still love their decorations for Christmas. | However, housekeeping was sloppy this time. Left dirty towels and glasses in oot room, did not make the bed properly. |The bar at the top was also disappointing. Drink menu was not impressive and when ordering something so simple as a dry martini, it was not very good. Waiting time was terrible as well, even with only a few of the tables occupied. |At breakfast, they forgot several items and had to ask in order to get what we ordered. |So-servicewise we aren’t that impressed this time. |One that really stood out and secured an extra star, is the blonde doorman. He was exceptionally sweet and helpful. Keep him and never let him go :-)

I love this hotel — it's always an experience to stay there! I love the gothic aesthetic, the design of the rooms, and the creative attention to detail in every corner. The atmosphere feels both luxurious and mysterious, and the staff are always welcoming and professional. Every stay feels unique — it’s the perfect blend of comfort, character, and charm. The breakfast in bed was a whole new experience — beautifully presented, delicious, and thoughtfully arranged. From the perfectly brewed coffee to the warm pastries and fresh fruit, everything felt indulgent and elegant. It made the morning feel extra special, like a scene from a classic film. bssss, Batman was there !!

The location of the hotel is good. Walking distance to everything Manchester has to offer. The decor and hotel has been done to a high standard and the staff/concierge team were very nice. The rooms only had single glazed windows which let in a draft and lots of noise which ruined our experience in this hotel. There was no radiator in the bathroom and large windows letting in a draft so it was very cold in there. The pillows were VERY uncomfortable (rock solid and massive) so you couldn’t get comfy and I woke up with a stiff neck. When I mentioned the bad nights sleep and uncomfortable pillows to the staff in the morning, they mentioned that we could have asked for a different pillow and the noise is unavoidable with no real resolution or compensation. When you’re paying £400+ a night you expect everything to be perfect and to have a good nights sleep and if not, some compensation to be given when a complaint has been made. They did eventually offer to take the bottle of Prosecco off the room booking but this was only given after asking for a complaints email and wasn’t offered off their own back. Overall - nice hotel in a good location but they definitely need to put double glazing windows in and change the standard pillows to some that are much better quality (or make it clear upon arrival that you can request alternatives)

Everything about this hotel is amazing from the location to the rooms. However discrimination me and my friend faced while trying to order breakfast was disgusting. Me and my friend are alternative looking and under 30 this apparently made us invisible to the wait staff in the honey restaurant. We were sat at 9am and didn't get any service till 45 minutes later after trying to get the attention of the staff. 3 other parties were sat and order taken before us. All of these parties were of certain age and look. I feel like this discrimination was based on how we looked. We paid the same as everyone else and expected to be treat like so. It was very disappointing due to the wonderful staff throughout the hotel the problem seemed just to be a problem within the honey restaurant

What a fun and elegant hotel! This property basks in the splendor of its historic roots as a bank. Built in 1928, it has beautiful details that add a mystique and character missing from most modern structures. Upon walking in you encounter a whimsical ground floor receiving area. The actual lobby is on a higher floor. The check-in itself was swift and the team was very professional. We were early and they were able to stow away our luggage while we explored the city for a few hours. We booked the Inner Sanctum Suite which is a windowless room that has a video wall (they call it a Wonderwall) that subs as a view. The neat thing is you can change the video to simulate a view of a London, New York or Paris skyline. So cool! The room is elegantly appointed and had a very dark, sophisticated vibe to it. In addition to the Wonderwall, they also had a great sound system wired in that had Classical, Opera, Love Songs or 80's New Wave to choose from- how perfect! There were also so many special touches- local milk in the fridge, pink pig shaped iced cookies and a cheeky gossip rag that gave insights into the goings on at the hotel. There is so much care and imagination that goes into this property! This suite was perfect for a calm night's rest. My only regret is that we only spent one night in Manchester. I would love to stay at this hotel again. Everything about it was charming and special- and the location was excellent. 5 stars all the way for Hotel Gotham!

I booked Hotel Gotham for a night for my bf's 30th and we checked in early enough (with a strangely robotic receptionist!) to have some time to enjoy the outdoor terrace of the 7th floor bar in daylight. The view is not as good as Manchester House but it's fun to be in amongst all the grand old buildings at the heart of the city centre. Rugs are provided and the staff appeared to be trained to come and sit with you to discuss each drinks order, which is useful if you're hesitating about the large cocktail menu. I had the Corpse Reviver No 2, a great suggestion from the bartender having heard my preferences which might be my new favourite cocktail - strong, smooth and light, it's the perfect Sunday afternoon drink. Unfortunately there was some confusion over my bf's beer order, so he got the wrong one (a very unfortunate mistake at £5.50...). Overall the drinks are about as expensive as you will get in Manchester, they are more expensive than Manchester House, some sitting at £14 aka London prices. The bill was therefore pretty eye-watering and frankly I probably wouldn't drink there again. That said, if you do stay in the hotel it's worth a visit as it's so quiet and has some nice views. Staying multiple nights I would advise you to check out some of the other bars nearby (Liquorice and Salut, for example, are very close). The room was very comfortable but, as I got a club room through a secret escapes deal, was small and somewhat strangely proportioned with a large empty hallway and then not much room for the bed. If you wanted a room to spend a lot of time lounging in, I would go for the next rate up at least. I did get a very good night's sleep though and did not notice any noise in the morning (Monday). The restaurant, where we had breakfast, is unusual in Manchester for being high up (6th floor) and has windows all the way around it letting in a lot of light and cool view of an angel statue. Breakfast was good, with high quality ingredients in the fry up and my bf's kippers were fantastic. Overall although this hotel is classed as a 5* I think going for the club rooms you may feel more like it's a very nice 4*. Value wise, that isn't bad, until you factor in the very expensive drinks.

For a place that charges 400£ on Friday and Saturday night, it was very disappointing to come back to the hotel wanting to entertain friends for drinks and to have the main bar "club brass" closed. Three out of my five night stay they closed before 1030 and weekend by midnight. The room was nice, but for that much, they also didn't offer international conversion chargers for wall sockets and it was an item only made available for purchase. The free "continental" breakfast was made up of mediocre danishes, and generic cured meats. If you want eggs, you had to pay additional for them as well. Rather have stayed at the Raddison or the Lowry.

First off I should probably say I'm slapping myself on the back right now for choosing this hotel - so so good and thankfully it lived up to the hype! Great staff, great location, amazing style and architecture, extremely unique - coupled with a boutique feeling and attention to detail meant that every part of our stay was 100% win! The bar 'club brass' was perfect for drinks at any time, the rooms were comfy and quiet, with the club rooms still fairly large - the bathroom and shower were all encompassing and lovely to be in. We ate out for breakfast and dinner each day so I didn't have any of the food but they did deliver these fantastic pink cookies to our room each night which were seriously good - I wish I had one right now! Every time I have peeps visiting I'm going to suggest that stay at HG - what a great place!

Swoon! I am in love with this hotel. What a luxurious hotel to stay in for three nights. While the address is King Street, the entrance is actually on Spring Gardens. Reception is on level 6 (there's a concierge downstairs who will direct you). Check-in was simple with £100 per night taken on my card for expenses. The room I was in was the basic one but only really in size - the best is massive and super comfy and the bathroom is actually quite large. The room was perfectly fine for one person staying and wouldn't be an issue for two, so I actually don't have any complaint about this. The room had a lot of nice touches - great decor, a beautiful large faux fur blanket on the bed, nice books and general styling. The bathroom products were lovely and there's a rainfall shower in the bathroom (as well as a normal shower head if you don't want to get your hair wet). The mini bar was great too - Sipsmith gin and tonic in there which I treated myself to after a hellish trip from Glasgow. There's also really lovely crystal glasses which makes having a little drink feel really luxurious. Club Brass on level 7 is pretty nice - it's a private members club and very expensive, but you also get admission if you're a guest. We stopped in for a drink one night and the drinks were just lovely. There's also a balcony so you can look out over at Manchester. The location is great and close by to a number of really great restaurants/bars and I would love to stay here again.

Quite simply the best hotel I have ever stayed at! If I could give out 6 or even 7 stars I would. I've never stayed in a hotel where before I leave the room I tidy it in some sort attempt to maintain its perfection! I usually judge a hotel on three elements; service, the shower and the bed. I'm pleased to say that Hotel Gotham came up trumps in all of these areas. I had limited interaction with the staff, this is a good thing, but when I did they were professional charming and polite - I had a chat with the concierge on the first evening and on the third evening he remembered our conversation in entirety. Very impressive! The shower reminded me of Peter Andre's Mysterious Girl music video circa '95! Warm waterfalls coming at my from every angle! Just incredible. The bed was also out of this world - strange thing is that I didn't once get under the duvet in my three night stay. Instead I used the huge faux animal skin blanket to keep warm in the night. The attention to detail at Hotel Gotham is exceptional. One example of this is the freshly baked piggy cookies that are left by your bed every day. Hotel Gotham has it all! Comfort, class and a quirky coolness! I can not recommend this hotel enough - if you're looking to impress someone take them here. You won't regret it!

After an afternoon of over indulgence at Hawksmoor to celebrate a friends birthday, we decided to join him on the roof terrace of his hotel - this being Hotel Gotham at the top of King Street. Having heard lots of great things about this place and with me working in the banking & finance industry, I was more than curious to see what the former HSBC had been turned into. Having been in Jamie's Italian and seen the vaults had been turned into individual unisex toilets, colour me intrigued! As a resident of the hotel, my friend was able to invite two guests to join him. Normally, I'm guessing, this wouldn't be a problem but when there's three of you, the front of house is a little over zealous about letting the third in, but after MUCH persuasion, we are admitted entry. Now, the bar is very well presented and it is very relaxed and chilled. Empty is another word. You would therefore be forgiven for wondering what the fuss was about about letting in one additional guest. I'll come back to this later. Once in the terrace and my friend finished off his cocktail, he pushed the boat out and ordered a bottle of Krug. When I say push it out, I mean we could hardly see the shoreline as at £250 a bottle, it was more than a little push! The waiter was very familiar and made us feel welcome and did all he could to make sure we were happy. Over familiarity did however, prevent my friend from getting his second cocktail and there wasn't any apologist forthcoming. We went down to his room to check it out and it was very pleasant and tastefully decorated. Room service was attentive and overall it was good. Now. For the over fussiness. Each floor is protected by electric entry system and there's few staff around so as a guest, it's nice to feel protected so I think that the over eager FOH who challenged a third guest into a quiet bar maybe trying to protect the guests and owners from lots of undesirables, but it's important to remember that not every situation fits a set rule and when people are prepared to spend time and money in your expensive bar, take it!

I don't think I have ever stayed at a hotel where I literally don't want to leave. This is possibly one of the nicest and well though out places I have ever stayed! I am a big fan of the term 'the devil is in the detail' ...at the Gotham everything has been thought out and fits the theme perfectly. The art on the walls, the mini bar, the carpet in the halls, the wall paper and literally every detail here have been fine tuned to make your stay the best it can be. My favourite touches are things like the pig cookies that are left for you each night and the fact the lighting and music are adjusted for when you come back in the evening. The music of choice for your arrival back at your room each evening is classic fm...now I am not usually a classic fm kind of guy but leaving it on really gave the right vibe to the space! This was a perfect stay in an amazing hotel....wow.

Two words: Swit Swoo. This is a grand, swanky new hotel that absolutely wowed me on a sleepy Wednesday evening. I attended Hotel Gotham as a venue for dining; so I unfortunately can't comment on the hotel room itself or how the venue rates for accommodation and looking after guests. But I can however, comment on the exquisite food and drink! The dining area is light and airy - vintage styled windows with a classic stripe wallpaper design and lots of quirky typewriters fixed on the walls with 'Gotham' newspapers half printed. If your one of those who takes millions of photos of the restaurant before you even sit down to eat - like me- then you'll love the interior of this place. Myself and my party were dining from a set menu, which was a little bit limited, but the options on the small menu were all really tempting, so that was a plus point. I opted for Chicken and Ham pie starter, Mushroom Tortellini main, and Rhubarb Bakewell with clotted cream desert. The starter was incredible - a really dense meat-packed pie with a very fancy crust topping and mustard surrounding the pie like a little moat. The starter actually looked like a castle and a moat! The pie was piled up high, with the stream of mustard surrounding. The meat was delicious - the combination of chicken and ham fused together was incredible. The main course was probably the least enjoyable of the three, but I think this is because it was purely mushrooms stuffed into the tortellini, so it was a tad on the 'mushroom overload' side. Possibly my fault for picking this. It did however come with the tastiest leeks. As for the desert - this was out of this world. I was expecting just a slice of Bakewell tart, but was treated to a large enclosed crust 'pie' type tart, stuffed with rhubarb and sponge. It taste like a regular Bakewell Tart except much more fruitier, a little more bitter (in a good way) and the crust was incredibly soft and buttery. The clotted cream gave the perfect finishing touch. Amazing wines, ten out of ten waiter service, and a relaxed ambience. A lovely place to dine. A little on the pricey side, and perhaps their could have been more choice on the menu, but overall a very lovely experience.

God only knows why it's taken me a good month to write this review - possibly because Hotel Gotham was so good words simply could not do it justice but hey I'm going to give it a good try... From the minute I stepped in, to the minute I left, I felt like I was in hotel heaven but with the theme of Batman's home town. Which lets face it, has to be one of the best themes going. The beauty of HG is that it's not in your face and their isn't actually any sign of Batman anywhere - what remains is the eery feel of how you imagine Gotham town to be (shown by images on the walls and quirky, unique furniture) and the suaveness of how you'd think those at the top of the food chain in Gotham would have lived. It's perfection. For me it was the small intricacies that made this place shine - pig shaped cookies, a fur throw, themed menus/note pads/pencils, a useable Gotham printed umbrella, Gotham robes - every last object in this hotel had been thought out and made to fit in with the theme and the result is just magical. Now to my actual room - 10 out of 10. Comfortable bed, a shower you could dance in, beds changed and made daily, shampoos/conditioners topped up, new towels daily, just pure luxury bottled up in a hotel room explosion (can you tell I was excited). My only two tiny-weeny complaints are: - reception on the 6th floor(a tad annoying but you deal with it). - the pillows for me were too soft but this is a personal pillow preference matter. All in all this is by far the most amazing hotel experience I have ever had and if I could I would live there in my little Gotham room forever but sadly good things have to come to an end BUT I will be back... You hear me Batman?!

Well very Quirky interior to say the least me and my parter in crime Robin aka my wife!!!!!! Went for a meal just to try the 5 star hotel and menu. So we went for a starter main and desert it was all very well executed and plated beautifully,but do you know when something is missing that's how I felt? It was good but for the £190 bill for 2 I just couldn't justify it that did include a nice bottle of Malbec and Prosecco which I must say was very nice. After the meal we went to the brass bar where we clicked with the bar staff as we are real people and not pretentious pricks....pardon my language.the cocktails where out of this world and a must if you love a well prepped drink packed with flavor.. all in all a pleasant experience but won't be rushing back.Oh the rooms are funky also.

Batman has much experience of shadow hiding. I must fiRst make declarings of my disapoints. My girlfriendS booked us a room at Gotham hotel after my great love for Batman, the Crusader with Cape. Batman, therefore, was not to be found here. Maybe too busy fighting the Octopus Doctor.? The hotel was many magnificents. The view of Gotham was spectacle from my room. MuST be seen to have a belief. Would recommend. My girfriendS enjoyed them all self very greatly too, with the lavish furnishings. Thank you for my stay to you, Commisioner 5 STRATS

Five. Stars. All. The. Way. I seriously never want to move out of this hotel. Like, ever. It's honestly my favourite hotel I've ever stayed in. Fact. What makes it so good? So. Many. Things. Let me try to list them; 1. I'm such a sucker for a turn down. And these guys do it WELL. You return to your room at night with the lights dimmed, the (fake) fur rug strewn over your bed, and dramatic classical music playing in the background. It's like walking into a movie each and every time. 2. Little jars of pig-shaped cookies left for you every evening 3. The quality of the mini-bar - artisan food, I wanted ALL of it. Plus cocktail glasses! Nice ones! 4. They've thought of EVERYTHING. They have these little sealed up packs of stuff you might have forgotten. A hangover pack with paracetamol, an energy shot, Berocca etc, a charging pack with an adaptor, phone charging wires etc, and an intimacy pack with eh... fun stuff.. 5. The decor. Top notch design here. Every element has been thought through to evoke that film noir type feeling, yet without ever feeling cheesy or overboard 6. A teeny tiny welcome cocktail on arrival, every time. Yes. 7. The bed - comfy mattress, fluffy pillows, luxurious bedding, and the afore mentioned fake fur. 8. The bathroom - excellent heavy rain shower, good quality products, and the sense of opulence con 9. Club Brass (for guests and members only). They describe it as: "You'll pass through two vault-like doors on your way into a Prohibition-style speakeasy that will make you feel like a million bucks." I couldn't possibly put it better than that. 10. Staff. Seriously pro - the right mix of professionalism with friendly. And they're kitted out spectacularly. Love the uniforms - they lend a real sense of occasion the hotel, which I think is a common theme throughout every single detail of it. Outstanding. Do I really have to leave? Like reaallly?

Absolutely not a five star hotel. Tacky furnishings, curtains that don't close properly, rude bell boys, small pokey rooms, No pool, No spa, hotel bar that's full of adverting types in terrible shiny blue suits taking about there new client... likely bathroom tissue brand & finally it's called Gotham. Like an old shitty hotel on the West Side Highway. I have no idea why ANYONE would rate this hotel 5 / 5 - I can only imagine the peasants haven't been to many 5 star hotels ... don't. do. it.

Nicely themed place, based on Batman Gotham City. Had afternoon tea which tasted really good. The service was attentive and polite and the place was clean. The food tasted good and the coffee definitely was better than average. The only issue I have is the length of time it took for things to come. We waited quite a while for each item of food to come, particularly sandwiches. I appreciate that it takes time to hand make things but sandwiches do not take 20-30 minutes. Otherwise generally pleased.

Back at the Gotham.... Christmas markets, then a drink in the roof top bar before dinner... Gotham is a great spot, a little quirky but a proper hotel.... Great team and service first class.... A must, if you like "proper!"

Delighted to have found a fantastic place to stay in my favourite city! I can't fault anything about it - from the friendly staff, to the delicious food, to the most comfortable of beds, to the sheer grandeur of the building with its parquet floors and original tiles in the stairways...and a great location too. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for your stay in Manchester.
