Located about 30 minutes drive away from the Tokyo Haneda International Airport in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Kanto, Japan, the Hotel Gracery Shinjuku is a 4-star hotel in the heart of the bustling Shinjuku district. Opened in April 2015, the Hotel Gracery Shinjuku is a popular base for leisure travellers who want to immerse themselves in Tokyo’s urban energy.||Ambience is a blend of contemporary functionality with a unique pop‐culture twist. Its most iconic feature is the giant Godzilla head prominently displayed on the terrace, a nod to local Japanese film heritage, and along with Godzilla exhibits at the entrance, instantly sets a playful urban tone. The overall design leans toward modern minimalism with natural colour palettes, which admittedly can feel utilitarian.||Rooms at Hotel Gracery Shinjuku are designed for practicality and comfort. I stayed at the Standard Twin Room, which was spacious, with comfortable twin beds and clean bathroom facilities. The working desk was decent, and there are universal power sockets available. However, the clock in my room wasn't working.||Service is friendly and efficient. Technology is leveraged through the 24-hour self-service reception, but staff are always on standby to assist. Attentive to guest needs, the multilingual concierge service is welcoming and helpful, demonstrating good knowledge and efficiently fulfilling requests. No surprise that service here tends to be generally well rated.||The facilities and activities have the basic leisure facilities covered, including fast stable wi-fi, laundry services, and currency exchange. That said, business facilities are notably lacking, and there are no fitness options. Located as they are in Shinjuku, there are many entertainment options nearby. Overall, Hotel Gracery Shinjuku is a good hotel for leisure stay.

This is a well located hotel, right at the train station, which is really handy. If this is the most important thing for uou, tgen this hotel is perfect. ||However the rooms are very dated not even having a proper window. The bathroom is very old and no counter space. While there was a kettle, the rooms were supplied with minimal tea facilities. I had to keep asking for more teabags each day and NO GYM! ||The service was good. In fact I was so shocked by the standard of our room that I asked to be moved. This was done quickly and pleasantly.|I would call this a 3 star hotel.

Google
Very clean, comfortable, and spacious if compared to other hotels in Tokyo. The facilities are great: laundry room, water and ice machines in the hallway, and a polite, helpful staff. The location is amazing! You're right in the liveliest part of the city, but without the noise. One big highlight: the hotel allows you to store your luggage if you're traveling to other cities in Japan and returning to Tokyo later — which was super helpful for us. We didn’t have to carry big suitcases everywhere. Out of all the places we stayed in Japan, this was by far the best. Highly recommend!

Google
The hotel is amazing however the surrounding area late at night is not so good. Very crowded and its the red light district some shady people around. However, tons of things to do, places to eat, shopping etc. the hotel is also next to a police station and there is security around. Japan hotels room run a little small which is to be expected but for what you get and the price top notch

Google
Overall a decent stay — rooms are in line with what you’d expect in Tokyo at this price point (quite cosy!), located close to transport/connections/food. It’s a big hotel so it’s always pretty busy — and the area gets quite hectic on Friday / Saturday night. Always easy to find your bearings back to the hotel — just look for Godzilla!

I've stayed here on three occasions and it's a safe bet – comfortable, clean and not too far from Shinjuku station. I chose it initially because Japanese addresses are hard to convey and I thought I could simply tell cab drives I was at the hotel with Godzilla on top. (Later it dawned on me that perhaps there's more than ONE? No, there isn't – fortunately.) Having the big guy adorning the building is great fun, in any case. But during the past two visits, which were 15 months apart, the "head" hasn't been working (no roaring on the hour) and access to the outside terrace under it has been closed. C'mon, Hotel Gracery: FIX GODILLA!

Google
Loved - that the staff were always available, lovely and always helpful. Room were quiet and it was a very busy hotel with bustling nightlife below. Hotel is well located to everything we wanted. Struggles - Tiny rooms and tiny beds (by Western standards). We had to take turns laying our bags on the bed to open them, then move the bag to access the fridge, and move it again to get into bed.

Reviews relating to minimal space, really shouldn’t be underestimated in this hotel. Opening the door into your room, you take 7 paces forwards and you come to a small square, where a double bed is situated and a small settee. There is no wardrobe to hang clothes, just 3 coat hangers on the wall and another 3 next to them. There are no drawers to put clothes into either. Anyone staying beyond a couple of days will struggle in this space. |There is a kettle, a TV and a shower room. Aside from that, there is little else. |The area around is busy and there are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants. This area seems more suited for the youngsters of Tokyo. We were on the 12th floor and at times, late into the night, you could still hear the late night revellers. |Breakfast served on the 8th floor was odd from a western world perspective and I found myself only managing 30% of the offering. It varied from a Japanese attempt at an English breakfast, which included broccoli and a mixture of croissant style sandwiches. Some may find this appealing, but our party of 6 people from England all struggled with the offerings. |We found ourselves actually venturing towards other parts of Tokyo for our entertainment and enjoyment, so I would look for a hotel elsewhere if I were to return to Tokyo again, which I would definitely like to, as I throughly enjoyed the city itself

Yelp
If you are a Godzilla fan, definitely worth a visit. They have close the landing to get up close to the Godzilla head. The lounge offers and excellent view of the Godzilla head. The lounge itself is modern located on the 85$ floor of the hotel. Staff was friendly. We ordered all the drinks they had that were Godzilla themed as well as pastries. We were all Godzilla fans so had a great time reminiscing when we first saw Godzilla. Plan to stay at the hotel next time given the chance.

Sam M.

Yelp
Our room was on the small side. There was no place to leave a normal sized luggage open. There were 4 elevators that take people from the ground floor to the 8th floor lobby. Never saw all four of them working, at the most 2. Only certain rooms on floor 9-10 have Godzilla views. However, our room on the 30th floor had a great view, although the window itself was so narrow. What annoyed us most about our room was how dim the shower/tub room was. I feel that one has to be a Godzilla fan to truly appreciate this place. I can't say we plan to come back.

Yelp
We stayed at Hotel Gracery for two nights--one in a standard room and the other in the Godzilla Suite. As my fiancé is a huge Godzilla fan, we splurged on the suite, which was about $700 USD for one night. While the booking process was a bit tricky (we had to confirm details via email and phone), the suite was fantastic--spacious, located on the 30th floor with a great view, and filled with fun Godzilla-themed features like stomping sounds and effects. The standard room, on the other hand, was quite cramped (12th floor) and didn't have much storage space, making it difficult with one suitcase and two carry-ons. The hotel's location in a busy area is convenient for exploring and finding food, and the 7/11 on the first floor is a nice perk. Breakfast at the Sakura restaurant was okay, but nothing special. Overall, we had a great experience, especially for Godzilla fans, but the standard rooms could use more space. PS: they provide pajamas for you!

Yelp
So the star of the show at this hotel is obviously Godzilla. It may be a bit overpriced, but the Godzilla head and artistic Godzilla coffee are well worth the trip

Len L.

Yelp
Love this hotel since it is in the center of Shinjuku. Close to JR rail and airport limo. Plenty of shopping and restaurants in the area. We did not opt for breakfast in the Gracery as there are plenty of eats outside. The roof top for Godzilla head was closed but I was able to see if from the lobby on floor 8. This hotel has plenty of washing and drying machines (they are busy all day long, even at 1am.) Cost is 300 yen to wash and 100 yen to dry. This hotel offers luggage storage and weigh scale which I like. Highly recommend.

Lisa K.

Yelp
Located in the heart of Shinjuku, hotel gracery, also known as the Godzilla hotel is in close proximity to the nightlife, 100s of restaurants, and the metro station! The rooms are fairly small - we couldn't even comfortably open our large suitcase on the floor. The bathroom included both a shower section and bathtub, which was necessary after a long day of walking. The only con I can think of is access to the Godzilla head was closed during our stay so we could only view it from the inside.

Lisa L.

Yelp
Excellent location! Nightlife around you. Lots of eating and shopping. This hotel is also close to the train stations. Checking in was a breeze and they speak very good English too!! Did I mention that they have a big Godzilla head overlooking the city on the same floor when you check in? Awesome!

Angela M.

Yelp
This was a great place to stay for the Tokyo portion of our trip to Japan. The staff at Hotel Gracery were all extremely hospitable, welcoming, and efficient. Both check-in and check-out were smooth, fast experiences. The rooms are tiny, as expected, and a tight fit for two people, even with only one carry-on piece of luggage each. But because our rooms were only places to sleep, shower, and store our things because we were spending all day and night exploring, it wasn't too bad. But it did make getting ready every morning a little frustrating, having to work around each other in such a small space. The room had a double bed, a built in couch/chair, a mini fridge disguised within a built-in end table, a pants press, TV, coat hooks and hangers (no closet), and a hot water kettle. There are a number of amenities you can request. Our first night, I asked for an iron and ironing board. The second, an extra blanket. Both requests were fulfilled very quickly. The bathroom is Japanese style, meaning the tub and shower are in a separate room within the bathroom, closed off by a tightly-sealed door. If you've never used a Japanese shower, it may feel weird to just stand there in the middle of the room letting the water go all over the floor, but that's why the door has such a good seal and the floor is rubberized and anti-slip. The guests were quiet and sleep came easy here. Our room was very clean. And of course, if you're a huge Godzilla fan, this is the place to be. The entire hotel is dedicated to the franchise (the room we were in was not Godzilla themed though and I'm not sure if the hotel has any), but it's done in a really classy way that doesn't feel tacky. The most over-the-top and cool feature is the life size Godzilla on the observation deck of the building, looking down over the hotel to the street below. He'll also roar if you figure out how to make him do it. This was a very solid, cool hotel and I'd be happy to stay here again.

Yelp
A very nice hotel, centrally located in the Shinjuku area, and next to the Kabukitcho area. Also known as the Godzilla Hotel, the hotel features a super huge Godzilla on the 8th floor, which can be seen from the streets, and animates every hour after sundown. The lobby area is super modern and contemporary. Check in is automated with Passport scanning and key delivery. Check out is by inserting the key at the 8th floor kiosk as well. The room , while small had everything we needed. Several outlets and light controls from the headboard, and they also had some pour over coffee and coffee heater in room. The bathroom areas were separated, sink in the room, shower and tub Japanese style behind one door, and the toilet in another room. As mentioned, the room was small, but to be expected and everything was efficient. The highlight of the hotel was the location directly in the middle of Shinjuku and smack dab in the middle of all of the action and neon excitement that you see in the movies. A great choice if you are in the Shinjuku area. And only a 3 block walk from the Shinjuki Metro station.

Yelp
Hotel Gracery was one of the best hotels I stayed at in Japan. The elevator rides are very quiet and smooth. The bathroom is nice and spacious, they clean your room every day. One thing to note is the air in the room is really dry, make sure to use the humidifier in the room if you don't want to wake up sounding like a chain smoker. The views are nice and it is right in the heart of Shinjuku. If you are into that late night life, this hotel will put you right in the middle.

Katherine L.

Yelp
We stayed here for a few days on our first stop in Japan. The front desk staff here was wonderful, especially Tuyen. A big thank you to her for helping us navigating Tokyo on our first trip to Japan. The room was quite small but I think it's typical for all the hotels in Japan. Very clean and had everything we need during our short stay. Highly recommend this hotel and we definitely will come back here again on our next trip to Japan.

Peter L.

Yelp
Previous stay was 8 years ago, things seem to have deteriorated slightly since then but it's still a cool place to stay. Located at the heart of Shinjuku's red light district, it's a short 10 min walk from the East exit. Furnishings remained the same and slightly dated, room was even smaller than I recalled. The breakfast buffet drastically regressed, the varieties and qualities paled in comparison to the past. There is no gym on the premise, but they are partner with a fitness center nearby usage fee is 1800 jpy. Thankfully the Godzilla on the 8F is back from distinction and continued to roar its defiance hourly from 12 to 8pm. Each roaring session only lasts about 1 min so try to time it.

Yelp
i don't recommend this hotel, the rooms are unsanitary. when i was staying i found a bug between the couch! i quickly had to go report it. but their staff is really friendly and helpful. they gave me an upgrade to a twin bed. though the hotel is really cool with the godzilla outside, and the theme, i still don't recommend on the cleanliness.

L L.

Yelp
If you want actions 24 by 7, this is the place for you. Despite surrounding by a seedy but safe environment, this is an oasis that any tourist can find a good night sleep We booked one of the largest twin rooms doubling the price of a room with a double bed. The extra space was well worth the additional costs - as we never felt claustrophobic while resting in the room in between distinctions. The room was clean and we had the option to skip daily housekeeping. If you do that, the hotel will leave a bag of clean/fresh towels and complementary bottle in front of your door. I found that very considerate. We enjoyed the location of the hotel - as it reminded us being in the middle of NY City's Time Square - but much safer. We were not seeking adventures but imagined it would be a perfect place for those who wanted to.

Theron S.

Yelp
The hotel is clean and you get fresh towels and water everyday. The hotel is on top of a movie theater and several places to eat. There is also a 7-11. They all speak English and very helpful with making reservations at a nice restaurant. They will also book any tour that the hotel may be in partnership with such as gray line tour. My only problem with the hotel is that the tv is not in English or I couldn't find out how to make it in English and they washer and dryers are not monitored by hotel staff. I watch a lady dry her clothes 3 times in the same dryer telling me her clothes wasn't dry. That was a lie because it takes about 1 hour to dry clothes. I guess she didn't want me to use the dryer. Other than those 2 problems, this is a great hotel. Nakano, she was very helpful with making my reservations and tour. Thanks again.

Yelp
Just checked in last night, so far the property and service is wonderful. The pillows are amazing, slept like a baby never moving. The shower is a traditional Japanese style shower with separate deep tub. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Taxi and Uber drivers are ready and waiting. Great location near everything. Definitely will return.

kathy j.

Yelp
4 star because godzilla was not open. Nice. Good location and free breakfast. We were able to get taxi easily every day. Also close to train station.

Yelp
Let's be honest. If you're going to book a hotel on Bourbon St. or Times Square or in Shinjuku, especially one with a giant Godzilla head attacking it, you're probably not going to have a 5 star tranquil resort experience like the Ritz-Carlton of my 4:00 am dreams. That said, this was just an alright hotel. And maybe just a bit TOO BIG. Check in felt like checking in at an airport counter. The Japanese service was, of course, both polite and efficient, but the vibe seemed a wee bit off and impersonable. Get to our room to discover a magnificent view of a block wall and multiple roof air conditioning units (?). Hello? Return to the arrivals -- sorry, check in -- counter and deal with a supervisor who had an attitude about giving us the room we had actually booked. At this point I feel like I'm in a Twilight Zone eppisode where Japan has become one huge corporate robotic machine. ("Konichiwa. Welcome to the Hotel Gracery," said the huge phony Godzilla head shipped over from Disneyland.) Get reassigned to the room we had actually booked, but with a semi-frown. The room was alright. The bath and shower were huge by Japanese hotel standards. There's a 24 hour 7-11 on the ground floor so you can stock up after a long night of dealing with Shinjuku. The initial check-in experience, though, left a kind of unusual stank in my mind. Bottom line: wished we had stayed again at the Shinjuku Prince Hotel a couple of blocks away, which functions like a Japanese business hotel rather than a Disneyland tourist trap. And it was closer to the subway station. With some very talented street buskers 'tween, unlike the neon strip clubs south of Godzilla.

Arman S.

Yelp
Pros: The location couldn't be better. The staff were helpful, and they included free bottle water during our stay. The restaurants located on the first floor were excellent. To boot, there is a 7-11 as well. By the way, believe the hype regarding Japanese 7-11 food. Their pork sausage and egg sandwiches are outstanding, and they even sell hot coffee in a can. Can't beat the convenience. Cons: drunk young people. They were no bother, but the sight of inebriated 20 somethings leaves a bit to be desired. There was always a huge mess left on the streets after hours only to be completely cleaned up by mid-morning. Overall, I would stay there again, but at a discounted rate. There were other hotels nearby, but I don't think any were as convenient as the Gracery. The Godzilla motif was a plus as well.

Yelp
We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed how close it is to popular attractions and restaurants, either a quick train ride or taxi ride away. Everyone is friendly, big shout out to Yogi at the Concierge's desk who was very knowledgeable and helped us book transportation for our next location. It was a bummer that their rooftop was closed during the time of our stay to see the big head of Godzilla up close, but there were plenty of other statues to enjoy. We brought our toddler with us so bear in mind that this area is busier, most especially at night, and the rooms are smaller so pack wisely. All in all, we would definitely come back and stay here again!

Erin H.

Yelp
We booked for two adults and a child. Upon arrival, we were sent to a room with one bed which was a double, even though the desk attendant repeated that it was a booking for two adults and a child. There wasn't even a trundle or a couch to sleep on, just the double bed. My husband went downstairs to find out why this had happened, the response? 'This is Japan.' You don't say... we know where we are but how does that justify putting three people in a room that would only fit two? So, we're fat Australians and should just pile on top of each other? Between the manager and desk staff, they tried to blame Booking.com but three people are three people, regardless of where you booked. Then they tried to charge double for a room with an extra bed. Eventually my husband ended up paying some extra but I don't think we should have had to. We asked the concierge for assistance with trains and were misinformed. The cards for foreigners were not available, we could have avoided long wait times at the station if he had better informed us. Tokyo for first timers is confusing for even the most experienced travellers. This was irritating. Also, the Godzilla rooftop experience, which was the main reason we booked there was closed. No clear reason why. Good things: location. It's very 'red light district' but that doesn't bother us. We would stay elsewhere next time.

Michael W.

Yelp
Short Story: I stayed at Godzilla's hotel! Long Story: We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights as part of our stay in Tokyo. The room here is a bit nicer than Tokyo Stay. The bidet is a bit better and the shower area is a bit larger. We didn't eat the food here as we explored the area. The hotel does have a safe deposit box and a fridge. Verdict: I would be willing to stay again!

Lyn S.

Yelp
Got exited coming all the way from California to see Godzilla after reading all the reviews about how cool it was. Once we found the hotel, they would not let us inside. I asked if we could at the very least just walk around and buy drinks and they said only hotel guests were allowed. Very disappointing.

Kelly S.

Yelp
Godzilla!!! Our first hotel out of 3 places we stayed at. It was definitely a different vibe compared to the other places we stayed at. Once you walk down stairs, there are so many eatery's, shopping centers, people. It is convenient but at night, it can get a little frightening as a female as some male men would try to lure you. But besides that, it's very centralized! So you can do your shopping, watch a movie, head to a krispy kreme, not even a block away!

Lynn W.

Yelp
We booked a "double" Godzilla-view room as a lark for two nights and while the novelty is definitely fun, the room is not great. I understand that standard Tokyo hotel rooms are often tiny but that's why we booked a double--pictured with two double beds on their website. Nonetheless, we've got one bed that is barely a full, I'm pressed against the wall, and we're tripping over our suitcases. The pillows are like rocks leaving us both wide awake and aggravated at 3am. On top of that, they don't offer daily cleaning unless you're staying more than three nights--an "environmental" policy that they announce by written notice *after* you check in and pay. They will refresh towels and empty trash bin, but no change of sheets. Not a huge deal, but in hot humid Tokyo, particularly in this ultra-crowded section of town, it's just not up to par. This is no bargain hotel, after all. The room was very clean, however, when we entered and the bathroom with tub is nice. You may be here more for the public Godzilla-themed space and indeed the 8th floor rooftop where he lights up on the hour is fun and gives great images. But anyone can access that, you don't need to pay these prices. There's a small sign saying Hotel Guests Only as you enter the 8th floor Lobby, but there is absolutely no control on that. People wander in and out of the rooftop at will. You only need your room key to access to the hotel room floors from 9 and up. They also close the adjoining rooftop bar at 7:30p (!) so forget having a cocktail before dinner. Other than that, you can buy some Godzilla merch--as can any member of the public who pack out these elevators. Location is very good in that you're in the TOHO building in the center of Shinjuku and the adjoining IMAX cinema is a great theater. The complex's restaurants are all chains, but that's to be expected in what is the (much bigger) equivalent of Times Square. The staff is very helpful and polite, but expect long lines at check-in and check-out. 20,000 yen for a lost card key (which you must return upon departure) and 17,000 for a late (noon) check-out, though you can swerve the latter by joining their membership club at check-in. It's a fun option especially if you have kids or are traveling alone, but I'd give this hotel a pass and just come up for a quick fire-breathing visit. It's free.

Scott L.

Yelp
This "Godzilla" Hotel is located within a 10 minute walking distance from the Shinjuku Metro and JR station. The Godzilla goes off hourly emitting smoke and lights (see schedule). This red light district also has numerous bars, restaurants, and convenience stores, in addition to other unmentionables. The lobby of Hotel Gracery - Shinjuku is located on the eighth floor with very helpful front desk and concierge personnel. Loaner umbrellas available for use. Secure card keys take you up to your floor with a pressing of the card against an elevator reader. The card is also used to operate your room's electricity as in most Asian and European Hotels - energy efficient! Rooms as in most Japan are small. However, The bathrooms are great allowing for European, American, and Asian style bathing. The warm bidets are great while the bath, shower, sauna is something most of us wish we had at home. Beds and pillow are hard and take getting used to. Would stay here again! Great inexpensive sushi, Yakiniku, and Ramen places are within a short walking distance. 7/11 located near the entry on the first floor.

Yelp
After staying at another hotel on the other side of the city I was ready for some Tokyo action. The type of action you'd expect from Tokyo, the type of action you'd find in the movies... this hotel fit the bill... perfectly. For one, don't let the novelty fool you (the giant Godzilla hanging off the side of the hotel) as the inside is somewhere between decent and nice. Nope, it's not luxury but for about $100 USD a night in February, it had a lot of wiggle room to be a lot worse. My least favorite part? The small rooms. But guess what? This is Tokyo, all of the rooms are small. Therefore, you can eliminate my only real gripe from the get-go. My favorite part? The location! I really wanted to stay in a hotel where you are hit in the face by everything that is Japan the second you walk out the front door. The food, the people, some noise, the lights, the chaos... it all happens here. We could not have picked a better hotel for both the price and convenient location and our return trips to Tokyo will absolutely include at least a few nights at The Gracery.

James M.

Yelp
I've been staying in Shinjuku area business hotels for around 20 years now. Typically I'd stay at the Washington Shinjuku Hotel, the Century Southern Tower, the Keio Plaza, or something similar due to cost and convenience. I'd never stayed on the Kabuki-cho side of the area until an in-law and mutual Godzilla fan asked me why I'd never stayed at the Gracery, aka the Godzilla hotel. Well now that I decided to finally take a chance on what I assumed was just a gimmick, I don't know if I'll ever stay anywhere else on business trips to Tokyo. Space-wise it's not much different than other business hotels, which is to say the rooms are small. But the Gracery, aside from being a newer and more modern hotel, offers a free Android smartphone to use for the duration of your stay (it's an ""ok" Android phone but still, that solves one issue for most travelers right off the bat). The rooms are clean, with a TV and refrigerator, and in some rooms a DEEP Japanese style bathtub! As someone who used to live in Japan I really mIss these tubs. Of course there is the novelty of having a living, breathing Godzilla statue fire up once every hour for the novelty. And I never hear it in my actual hotel room either. There's also an excellent Toho Cinema in the same building, and plenty of restaurants and karaoke bars and nightlife in the area. The best part? During my stay, it was cheaper than any of the other business hotels, and it's nicer. So I expect this will be the first of many repeat visits to the Gracery for me. Highly recommend!

Michael V.

Yelp
Definitely the best all around value you could ever want for a hotel in Tokyo. The lobby was very nice and the staff was extremely helpful and polite. The room itself, while a little small (but not claustrophobic) was very clean and efficient. They really used all the space in the room to its full potential. The bathroom is extraordinary. The toilet was nice and heated when you sit on it and had numerous options to wash yourself. The shower and bathtub were also phenomenal. The hotel includes free breakfast and the food it's probably the best breakfast buffet I've had. It has both Western and Eastern options so it was nice to have both eggs and dumplings for breakfast. One of the other best parts of the hotel is the location. It's centrally located in Shinjuku, about a 5 minute walk from the massive Shinjuku station. It's very easy to get a train to anywhere in Tokyo from there. There's also tons to do and tons of stuff right outside the hotel. Another part I liked is that there's a 7/11 underneath the hotel in case you need to pick up something. I will be returning to this hotel when I go back to Tokyo.

Shirly C.

Yelp
This is THE perfect place to stay at in Tokyo, more specifically Shinjuku. The Shinjuku subway station which leads to pretty much every other station in Tokyo is just a 7 minute walk AND not to mention you are in the CENTER of Kabukicho's bustling night life, multiple department stores as well as right next to Ktown. You just cannot miss this hotel...look for the gigantic Godzilla head. I reserved my room on a FEMALE ONLY floor and it was perfect. Everything was tailored to females...I had an awesome facial steamer, nightly sample facial and body potions, DHC toners/moisturizers/masks, matcha bath salts, curling and straigtening iron upon request, & large light up makeup mirror. Of course they had the usual hot water heater, ironing stuff, robes... Room was cleaned daily. All the supplies were renewed daily. BREAKFAST BUFFET: breakfast of a champ I must say~ you get the western side and the asian side. Scrambled eggs, cereals, salad, croissants, vegetables, fruit juices to the DIY udon table, fresh tofu, porridge, large selection of pickles and mini side dishes. LOVED IT! My only gripe is the WIFI....you just cannot be slower than my portable..thats unacceptable -.-!!! As an FYI..don't get lured into the seedier drinking areas late at night...aka yakuza land...or at least be more cautious and polite. Never had an issue. Theres tons of tourists everywhere anyway.

Yelp
This was my hotel while I was in Tokyo, which seemingly found a balance between being classy while having some fun at the same time. The decor in the lobby is sleek but classic at the same time. Of course, the giant Godzilla statue right outside doesn't seem too classic but it has its uses. You can see it from a long ways, so you won't get lost. I was surprised that the driver from the airport got lost finding this hotel. It's the tallest around and that roar wasn't loud enough? Service was polite throughout and the staff was generally helpful. Some of them will struggle with English and actually you might be better off speaking in Chinese to them (if you speak Chinese). The rooms are tiny, but that's to be expected. There's no closet space and I had to keep my suitcase upright and my clothes kept in there. However, the bathroom is roomy and really nice. You can either take a shower in the bathtub or just right outside it, as the bathing area is separate from the toilet and sink. Otherwise, the room was super clean and the mini-fridge was a bonus. Minus one star for being such a pain-in-the-@$$ regarding the keycards for the elevator/room. You can only access your floor with your keycard. So if you have other people to visit on other floors, you have to either have one of their keycards or meet them in the lobby so they can take you up their floor. I get security and all, and I'm okay with restricting elevator access to guests, but this arrangement is a bit excessively stringent.

Yelp
CONVENIENT. That's the one word I would go with for this spot. Location, service, amenities, all super convenient. The service is A+ (as it always seems to be in Tokyo) and helpful. It seems like everyone is English speaking. Staff is knowledgeable and gracious. They even lended us umbrellas when it started pouring and they took out on our poor, stupid American souls. It can be confusing cause the main reception and like by is located on the 8th floor. The rooms themselves are floors 9 and up. The result is a fantastic view of the skyline and city if you manage to get a room at least floor 19 and up (I would highly recommend trying to get as close to the top floor as possible for the view). The rooms are "cozy" (politely saying small here) but efficient! All Japanese hotels run smaller than what Americans are used to though. The tub/shower combo is AMAZING if you need a soak after a long few days off walking. THE BEST PART is the FREE INTERNATIONAL CALLS you can make FROM YOUR ROOM! Can you tell I was super excited about this fact? About the Godzilla head ... I have to admit that I thought it was a bit kitchy at first cause... Really? However, it was actually very useful when trying to locate our hotel from afar! So that's an unexpected perk. Convenient store is located on the first floor right next to the entrance if you need something really quickly at all off hours of the day/night. The train station is a short 5-7 minute walk from the hotel. You will also run into some very interesting and somewhat overstimulating number of shows within 10 minutes walking radius (ex. Robot Restaurant, Girlie shows, themed cafes, etc.). Highly recommend! I would definitely stay here again on my next visit!

Yelp
Stayed in Tokyo for 5 nights a Saturday night through Thursday in November. I booked our hotels pretty last minute and this hotel was sold out for my dates and I was pretty bummed. So I ended up booking us 1 night stay at an APA hotel around the corner (which was fine, but TINY), and then moved over to this place on Sunday - and I'm so glad we made this choice. The hotel is right in the action (in my opinion, Shinjuku is a bit overwhelming, but that's kinda part of it, right? And so if you've already chosen to stay in Shinjuku, this is definitely a good option). A quick 8 minute walk to Shinjuku station - we easily did this with all of our luggage when we arrived and departed. There's the giant Godzilla head on the roof, which makes it more "Tokyo-y", definitely never stayed at a hotel with a Godzilla on the roof in the US (every hour the godzilla lights up and squirts out smoke - you can view this from the roof or from down below). Check-in was easy, we came a little early and they let us leave our suitcases (and then once we came back and got our keys - our luggage was already brought up to the room for us!). We wanted to have dinner one night at a Michelin star restaurant that required reservations by a concierge. The hotel concierge very kindly made this reservation for us, sitting with us and translating back and fourth as our first choice of time/date wasn't available. Room was nice. A bit small by US standards, but big enough for the bed, 2 suitcases (although we had to keep them closed - and only open when we weren't moving around too much), a small sitting chair, a decent size bathroom/shower (including a bidet of course), and 2 hooks to hang a few items (probably about 6 hangers total). The original pillows we got weren't very comfortable, but they actually have a few different options you can order from room service (for free), we asked for the extra soft ones after the first night and those were great. The bed was good, probably the most comfortable of the 4 hotels we stayed at while in Japan. Huge bonus was the wifi hotspot that came in the room. It's basically like an extra phone (I think you could also use it to make calls from your room), but you could also bring it around with you and use it as a hotspot for your own phones to hook up to. That saved us $10/day with verizon. As I said, the area around the hotel is a bit overwhelming. There's a lot of people on the street trying to promote their night clubs, but no one was creepy about it, you kind of get used to it and it's entertaining to see. You're also in walking distance of Golden Gai which is a cool alleyway with lots of tiny bars and restaurants. As well as Yakatori alley which has lots of places making chicken skewers on the street. We didn't get the breakfast package, but paid for the breakfast 1 day just to try it out. Honestly, it wasn't that good. The best part of it was the american style portions, but even that, meh. I definitely wouldn't pay for the breakfast package unless you're getting a really good deal on it. There's plenty of coffee shops around that you can pick up breakfast, or just go all in and get ramen for breakfast like we did a few times.

Yelp
My hubby doesn't write Yelp reviews so this rating is on his behalf. We didn't stay here on our trip to Tokyo, but hubby specifically sought out this hotel because of his love of Godzilla. His words: "If I miss seeing the Imperial Palace, that's fine, but if I miss seeing Godzilla, I will be crushed." Ok, whatever floats your boat. So we make our way up to the top floor and are told that we can only see Godzilla up close if we are hotel guests or if we get something to eat at the cafe. We do the latter, opting for the "Godzilla set", a dessert plate with cake, ice cream, and a molded Godzilla chocolate. The chocolate is way too sweet but hubby doesn't care. He cant wait to go out to the patio to see Godzilla. We finally make our way out there and he takes at least fifty photos of Godzilla from different angles. I must admit, it's a pretty impressive sight. Hubby goes and asks the security guard when Godzilla will light up. The guard says 7 pm, and since that's only ten minutes away, hubby can't believe his good luck. When the clock strikes 7, smoke and flashing lights emerge from Godzilla's mouth. Hubby takes a video of the event. He leaves the hotel satisfied. His life is now complete.

Yelp
Five stars for a great bang for your buck! Hotel Gracery is in the middle of everything in Shinjuku, and only a 7 minute walk from the Shinjuku station (which is a great hub to everywhere). So yeah, location is great, especially if it's your first time in Tokyo. If you worry about noise in that type of location, just don't, the hotel lobby is on the 8th floor and the rooms are above, so you can't hear any of the craziness out on the streets. The room I got was on a ladies only area, which was interesting and comfortable after all. Being it was a room for women, they provided different amenities, including special cosmetics, and a steaming machine to open up the pores on your face. The room was small, but it had plenty of room for my needs. The bathroom was large and modern, great tub by the way. The room also had an amazing calf massager that came in handy every day during my stay. Honestly, the only thing I didn't like about the room was the bed, since it was pretty hard, but everything else was perfect. I didn't eat at the hotel, but I did go out to the terrace, to check out the super cool Godzilla head outside, which is only accessible to people staying at the hotel.

Yelp
Nice hotel. Great location in Shinjuku. It's less than 10 minutes from Shinjuku Station. It's a very busy hotel. The rooms are small, not surprising for Tokyo. They offer a breakfast it's about 2100 yen. There are plenty of cafes around that offer cheaper breakfast options. It was a comfortable stay.

Yelp
Awesome hotel and the godzilla head is a tourist attraction. To get here from either airport, it is best to purchase the airport limousine bus pass which is 3100 yen or 2000 yen for seniors or children. The website have other discounts that might be worthwhile to take a look at. From narita airport you need to purchase tickets to go to shinjuku west. When you get off at the stop, you'll need to walk towards the keio dept store (blue sign) and walk towards the left then there is a WEbus stop #21 that makes a stop to the hotel for only 100yen. Best to check out the WEbus schedule to see their schedule since they do not operate late at night. For first timers to Japan it might be best to catch a taxi for about 1000yen or less (about $10usd) rather than hauling luggage to hotel. When returning to the airport, if you are using the airport limousine bus (which is recommended), you just need to present your ticket to concierge desk and they'll give you a free WEbus ticket to get dropped off at the shinjuku west station (not sure if it is a limited promotion). For narita airport, get off at the second WEbus stop and the line for limousine bus will be right next door.

Yelp
Went to Japan in October 2019 and stayed at this hotel for a week. This is also known as the Godzilla Hotel because it has the Godzilla head on the very top of the building. We were given a room at the highest level which was nice because we could see everything from our room. The room was a little small but it wasn't an issue at all as there was enough room to move around. There's also a cellphone with data included in the room that you could borrow so you could navigate your Google maps to roam around. The bathroom is high tech with their bidet, shower, etc., something that you don't usually see in the US. The location of this hotel is very accessible to everything. Walking distance to the JR train station, shopping, restaurants, you name it. We didn't really interact much with any of the workers except during check-in and check-out, but they seemed okay. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Yelp
I give it 4 stars for location but the rooms are dated and because of its prime location, it can get busy with the elevators to get to the lobby on the 8th floor and out the building from another set of elevators that get you to hotel rooms. My biggest gripe is that there is no seating or open space where you can sit and eat your snack. Any take out food must be consumed in your room which only has a small round table. Rooms have no hooks anywhere and you are expected to use the hangers instead behind the door. The rooms do have a lot of technology integrated and I did notice a switch that turns on air purification using Panasonic NanoE that is built into the room's ceiling. Over-all this space is very convenient to all the food and shopping. 5-7 minute walk to the train station. Right around the corner is a lawson's and 7-11, down the block you have your clubs. The only thing I found annoying was that the toilet is in its own little room and you have to come out to wash your hands, then shower and tub is on the opposite side of the walkway. I would probably still stay here again just because of convenience and it is the Godzilla Hotel!

Yelp
Whenever I visit Tokyo, i always stay in Shinjuku or Shinagawa, Shinjuku has a lot more action and great restaurants. Wintertime, hotels in Japan for some weird reason turn off their central air conditioning systems, this means you will bake to death in your hotel room. I always look for hotels that have windows that open. Thankfully, the Hotel Gracery Shinjuku is one of the few hotels that keep their central AC on year-round, they also have a vent that opens on the window to let fresh air in. The room itself by Western standards is really small, but that is how hotel rooms are in Tokyo unless you are paying the big bucks. I found the room comfortable and functional, the bathroom was nearly as big as the bedroom with a nice shower and strong water pressure. Hotel Gracery Shinjuku is located about a ten minute walk from the Shinjuku train station, the Airport Limousine Bus also stops at the Shinjuku train station so getting to the hotel is super easy. I definitely recommend the Hotel Gracery Shinjuku.

Yelp
Choosing Hotel Gracery Kabukicho for our Tokyo stay was the perfect decision! Truly a balance of classy and fun! You can't miss Godzilla and the location is central to all the action. There's a 24 hour 7-Eleven downstairs, different restaurants inside and on the exterior of the building. The rooms are cozy but the bathroom is a dream! There's a bidet toilet and next to it, a wet room with a huge tub that fits two people plus a hand shower. It was like our own little spa. Soaking in that tub felt therapeutic and rejuvenating. Our room had a stunning view of Shinjuku.

Yelp
I like this hotel! Compared to the couple hotels I've stayed in Japan, this hotel has professional staff at the lobby with great english speaking skills, and larger room! It is not as big as many rooms but definitely bigger than others in Japan. Very clean and good for a short stay. I'd recommend!

Yelp
Cool spot in the heart of Shinjuku that's close to shopping, food, and transportation. If you are new to Tokyo, this the area I would recommend. Rooms are a bit smaller compared to the states and similar to New York. You know your close to the hotel when you hear Godzilla's scream!

J T.

Yelp
This place is right in the center of shinjuku. It's a perfect tourist hotel and in the center of Everything. My only Complaint is that it's a bit small but other than that everything else was decent. We only stayed one night and was able to see the Godzilla. Pretty cool attraction. Shinjuku is also better at night with al the lights!

Dave H.

Yelp
I highly recommend this hotel! You get onsite laundromat so you can save on the amount of clothes to bring and pack more souvenirs. Close to the subway station. It gets busy at night but it still safe and entertaining. You can borrow free umbrellas from the front desk. The best part is you can use the "handy" smart phone for free. It is essentially a smartphone you can take out of the hotel with you and hotspot your personal phone to it too. Saved so much on roaming charges.

Yelp
If you're looking for a really nice place to stay in the heart of Shinjuku, look no further. The hotel itself is really nice. The staff is very polite, friendly, and helpful. The lobby, which sits on the 8th floor, is large and nicely appointed. There is a terrace on the lobby floor overlooking the action down below. The Godzilla statue (with shows) is an especially cute touch. The rooms are small by Western standards, but normal size by local standards. I especially loved the layout of the room and how efficiently the space was used. Additionally, I found the room to be clean and modern, and like many reviewers here mentioned, the bathroom to be a pleasant surprise. The location is perfect. As soon as you step out of the hotel, you instantly realize that you're right in the middle of the action. I recommend you try the crepe place on the corner at the base of the hotel on your way to or from the hotel. A block or so away is the famous Robot Restaurant, all around you are endless options for amazing food. A short walk away is the train station to whisk you away to other parts of Tokyo. While you are in the middle of it all, bright lights, vibrant night life, people all around, you'll find your room to be a serene oasis when its time to sleep or take a break. Other people did mention hearing the Godzilla show from their room. I heard a muffled rumble once in a while, but it didn't detract from my much needed rest.

Yelp
The rooms are a little small for 2 if you're used to American hotels, but if you're traveling light, open to thinking about it as "cozy", or are smart about organizing the room to work for you, then it's not a problem. Everything feels really clean, modern, and the bathroom/shower being huge is a (random but) nice plus. The room has a customizable AC, the bed is firm but supportive, and is a perfectly good choice if you don't plan on being in the hotel very much whilst in Tokyo. The location is great as a homebase for exploring around Tokyo, and it's probably the most affordable large hotel in the Shinjuku area. There aren't a lot of amenities like a gym/pool, but there's a lot of amazing food spots and bars within walking distance and the subway is less than 10 min walk away.

Yelp
Finally made it to Tokyo in Spring 2016. Flew from Osaka (ITM) to Haneda and bused it to the west side of Shinjuku. Was a pretty easy ten minute (fifteen if you take your time and soak up the sights) to the 'Godzilla' hotel. I was impressed by its location and style hotel. Guests staying at this establishment appeared to be your usual tourists. There's a Krispy Kreme downstairs where I had a 'Green Tea' donut and close by the Robot Restaurant. I was able to go to Ichiran Ramen three nights in a row with a minimal wait. My friends were staying in other parts of Tokyo (Westin, Grand Hyatt) and my hotel was the central meeting point for us on our evenings out. Hope to be back soon!

Yelp
I had a great stay here in December 2015, and found that other than the guys hustling me to "see girls" on the seedier streets, this was a great hotel base for visiting Tokyo. The neighborhood was lots of fun, and very easy to get to the rest of Tokyo from. I took the subway and trains most everywhere when in Tokyo and found this location good for the Narita Express airport train, and for my travel in Tokyo. The hotel is modern and new, and while my room was small it was very modern, and the cleaning staff was attentive. I also liked seeing the Godzilla monster when I was coming home. I found the 7-11 on the first floor was a handy to go to place for a beer at the end of the day, or quick snacks on the run. There was good security, and friendly staff. Overall, if you book from the USA and get a good deal, I would stay here in a snap next time I visit Tokyo. Japanese pillows are different. I found them fine. The wifi worked great. I streamed music, did some Skype, and it worked well. I thought the location was great. I got a great price on the room - and having stayed in other Tokyo hotels have to say that this was worth it when it popped up on a discount website I jumped.
