Hotel Grand Chancellor Townsville

The views are why I booked. But the windows were so dirty and no furniture on patios. 😪 The carpet is also super old in the rooms and feels and smells dirty. Upgraded bathrooms and full size products are nice but don't expect any upgrades in the coffee area. Very basic. My 1 year old stayed with us this time and busted her toe on the lip of the tile from bedroom into bathroom. Why can't this be flush? It's not easily visible at all. If it wasn't her, it would have been me. Also I have a disability and walking is difficult but parking is around the back and next door and $15 per night. No valet. No on site parking. You'd figure for nearly 250 per night, better amenities. Unfortunately we won't stay here again because of the cons listed.

Neat, clean, larger rooms. Great views (I was on level 10 overlooking river). Staff are friendly and reception is 24hrs. Room service and on-site restaurant available. Large bed, great shower, would recommend it.

Old place, high price, not swimming pool as in the pictures, the lift doesn’t work properly, the bathroom fan makes noise all the time. Plus, I found a cockroach in the bed. Good receptionist. I would recommend to book next door which is half price and same facilities or somewhere in the Strand as this location is completely dead.

This was my last minute booking without checking the reviews. Th reception staff was great and helpful. But the rooms were stinging, not cleaned properly. Previous guests used water bottles and other waste materials were there in the room. The shape of the building is weird, can make you claustrophobic

Rooms are not friendly, weird shape and stuffy. But in saying that the staff were amazing. Service is top class. Food is amazing but expensive. Need to fix the air conditioning system, was complicated. Look before you book. I booked a spar room and there was only a bath. Disappointing but again the staff made the stay really lovely and made up for the whole trip. The owners need to change things, not the staff on the ground, they are doing their best.

Quite expensive to stay. NO microwave or cutlery so you have to eat out or at their restaurant/room service. Pool was out of service and was never refunded any money back for not been able to use the facility. Aircon wasn't working properly and we were there in the middle of summer. Bed was comfortable but that was about the only positive about the hotel. Overall not impressed with the stay.

The stay was pleasant and the hotel well situated. Staff were friendly and ready to assist as required. There was an air conditioning issue that they attempted to resolve. The problem wasn't really fixed but they did offer for me to change rooms. I just couldn.t be bothered repacking and unpacking so lived with it. I would stay here again.

No parking nor pool access available on my 2 day stay. Continuous running water in the toilet- reported but not addressed. Sounded like my own personal water feature within the room. Appeared to be invisible on check in as unacknowledged for a period of time whilst idle chit chat occurred. Location was great but not befitting my circumstances for work related stay. My employer booked this, I would not choose to stay here
