This hotel is such a treat! It is beyond what you would expect from a boutique hotel. From the moment you check in, you're greeted with special care and treated like royalty. The grounds are heavenly kept. The restaurant is next level and beautiful! The front desk will assist you with whatever you need and then some...umbrellas, towels, taxi, restaurant reservations, etc. It's located in the city so about 3-6 hours from the experiences we traveled to Costa Rica for (Beaches, volcanos, waterfalls, wild life). Roads are easy for travel so we're fine. Don't attempt any short cuts...take highways 27 or 34...no less traveled roads!!! Consider yourselves warned.

This hotel went above and beyond during our stay. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant was delicious. Marco and the staff at the front desk treated us like family in a time we needed it most. We will be forever thankful! If we are back in the area the choice of hotel will be an easy decision. Thank you!!

Had a great one night stay. All front desk staff were thorough and very accommodating. Beautiful grounds with open concept and beautiful gardens. Close to restaurants and other places you can easily walk to. Forgot a medication at home and one of the front desk staff called the pharmacy for me to translate. We left early in the morning and they made us a to-go breakfast box. Highly recommended!

Had high hopes here on a one night stopover before flying. It’s historic, but beyond reception that also translates to dated. The reception / front desk staff were very young and not all that experienced. Restaurant was a lovely setting, but the food wasn’t great. Dinner was totally underwhelming and over priced. Breakfast was a fiasco. Despite being first in and only one other person it took nearly half an hour to get anything, and they was what they offered us as what they could get us quickly as we had a flight to catch. We ended up rushing rating in about 5 minutes so we didn’t miss our flight. And we’re talking juice, fruit, yoghurt - that sort of thing. There was never a smile in the restaurant.

What an incredible welcome to Costa Rica! We adored this hotel and couldn’t have chosen a better spot for our one night in San Jose. The food was out of this world and the service was impeccable. Such a charming and timeless spot, thank you for having us ❤️

We loved our one-night stay at Gran De Oro. We landed in San Jose and stayed here our first night before we started to explore the rest of the country. The hotel was well appointed, very charming, very comfortable, and the staff was wonderful! We loved the restaurant too. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. It was a gorgeous setting. We just loved it and will definitely be back. Oh, and breakfast was also perfection! And we loved the jacuzzis!

Just a 5/5 experience! My husband and I stayed here for one night on the first stretch of our honeymoon. Immediately, we were met with wonderful service. Some members speak English, others speak very little, but that’s okay! Smiles got us a long way. The hotel was accommodating to us immediately. They let us drop off our luggage and give them our dirty laundry while we waited for the room to be ready. We spent the time exploring the city. When we were ready to check in, all our luggage had been moved up for us! Our room was clean, had beautiful views, and we were even given complimentary items for our honeymoon! The shower was a little tricky to figure out, but we got it eventually. The hot water fluctuated between hot and lukewarm, but all in all, was good enough. There is parking across the street in a gated area. They open and close the gates when the guests need to access the car, so it was very secure. Highly recommend this hotel!

Well appointed hotel with large, comfortable rooms and quality linens. The staff without exception was outstanding. Excellent a la carte breakfast choices and a varied menu for lunch and dinner. Cocktails had a generous pour and the desserts were delightful. We enjoyed the hot tub. My massage was wonderful
