We loved our one-night stay at Gran De Oro. We landed in San Jose and stayed here our first night before we started to explore the rest of the country. The hotel was well appointed, very charming, very comfortable, and the staff was wonderful! We loved the restaurant too. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. It was a gorgeous setting. We just loved it and will definitely be back. Oh, and breakfast was also perfection! And we loved the jacuzzis!

Well appointed hotel with large, comfortable rooms and quality linens. The staff without exception was outstanding. Excellent a la carte breakfast choices and a varied menu for lunch and dinner. Cocktails had a generous pour and the desserts were delightful. We enjoyed the hot tub. My massage was wonderful

Started our adventures in Costa Rica at Hotel Grano De Oro and it was the best choice. We were only spending the night so did not need a specific location in San Jose. But loved how easy it was to find this hotel with very accessible parking. The hotel was beautiful and fun to wander around. They actually upgraded us to a family suite, which was spacious and amazing. We had fun in the hot tub and even just sitting out on the decks in the early morning, But - the true standout for this hotel was the staff. Everyone was just incredibly kind and funny. The restaurant food was delicious- do grab both dinner and breakfast there. And the waitstaff were totally delightful - patient with us as we speak almost no spanish yet they guided us on on pronunciation and gave us tips for our stay. Absolutely recommend this hotel!

Just a 5/5 experience! My husband and I stayed here for one night on the first stretch of our honeymoon. Immediately, we were met with wonderful service. Some members speak English, others speak very little, but that’s okay! Smiles got us a long way. The hotel was accommodating to us immediately. They let us drop off our luggage and give them our dirty laundry while we waited for the room to be ready. We spent the time exploring the city. When we were ready to check in, all our luggage had been moved up for us! Our room was clean, had beautiful views, and we were even given complimentary items for our honeymoon! The shower was a little tricky to figure out, but we got it eventually. The hot water fluctuated between hot and lukewarm, but all in all, was good enough. There is parking across the street in a gated area. They open and close the gates when the guests need to access the car, so it was very secure. Highly recommend this hotel!

A. Ice hotel and a beautiful traditional house. Beautiful courtyard as a restaurant. The food was great, the room was quiet and clean. Bathroom was nice and clean. Breakfast is a la carte, so don’t expect to be quick in the morning. Friendly staff, small gym and jacuzzi.

We spent our last night in Costa at this lovely hotel! Checking ln was very easy and welcoming. ||Our room was so sweet, with its own patio garden that even had a fountain. We had just come from whitewater rafting after 4 nights, and 5 days in the Rainforest, during the dry season. Yet, we were deluged by rain our last three nights there, so none of our clothes had dried! Once in this darling room, I draped our wet clothes all over thest patio, to dry. Success. We loved our room, it was very practical, pretty and comfortable.||We met friends for dinner in their beautiful dining room. Delicious food, great cocktails, nice wines by the glass, lovely service! ||Because we were headed to the airport at 5 the next morning, breakfast wasn’t yet served. But the c made nice croissant sandwiches to take, then went into bar brought us lattes to take with us! ||What service, all around!

Beautiful remodeled mansion in San Jose, very comfortable rooms, lovely roof top terrace with hot tubs, and very good dining room. It is walking distance to a Central Park, and a bit longer walk to central San Jose where you get the flavour of everyday life in the capital and for Costa Ricans. It is not a touristy town, but very down to earth and interesting. Worth a visit if you want to get a feel of real life.

We arrived in the dark on our first trip ever to Costa Rica and our tour company booked us into this hotel for our first two nights. We arrived later in the evening and had no idea what to expect. But we needn't have worried at all about our lodging. Our first impression of Hotel Grano de Oro was very positive. We arrived at the elegant front entrance and were met by friendly staff who helped with our bags. The gentleman who checked us in was kind and informative and made us feel immediately welcome, to the hotel and to Costa Rica. We were shown to our Deluxe Patio Room which we found to be comfortable, clean and inviting. We really enjoyed our little enclosed patio with live plants and bubbling water. We slept well in a comfortable queen bed. In spite of being near a busy street, we were not disturbed by the traffic noise or city sounds. In the morning we went to the hotel restaurant to have breakfast and were taken aback by the elegance of the place. We sat outside in a beautiful atrium and were treated to a really nice meal and excellent service. We were so impressed that we went back that evening and had a terrific dinner, this time seated inside in the stately dining room. The next day we enjoyed the rooftop hot tubs and seating area as well. While they are not large, they were perfectly enjoyable and comfortable.|Our stay at Grano de Oro got our inaugural trip to Costa Rica off on the right foot.
