We had a very satisfying stay. Since the bus stop and the station are close by, getting around was quite easy. (If you have a lot of luggage, takkyubin might be a good idea because the walk to the station can be a bit difficult. The bus stop is very close, though.) When we first arrived, we checked in right away and went to dinner. The buffet was fantastic — there were so many options, suitable for both locals and foreigners. I was getting a bit tired of Japanese food, so it was nice to take a small break here. Afterwards, we went to the onsen. It was very clean and well-maintained. They provided everything: combs, shampoo, lotions, face wash, moisturizers, even hair tonic. The hairdryer alone made me unexpectedly happy. I didn’t experience any privacy issues either. The setup is actually very similar to Turkish baths or thermal hotels — the only difference is that everyone is naked here. There are two onsen pools: one indoors and one outdoors. The outdoor one has a view of Mount Fuji, and the atmosphere is lovely. My only issue at the hotel was feeling cold in the room. Make sure to bring warm sleepwear. Turn on the heater as soon as you check in, and avoid opening the window if possible. There was also a humidifier in the room. (Maybe it’s because I arrived with zero expectations and no prior knowledge, but I was truly impressed by everything here.) They also serve nice complimentary teas in the lobby — definitely try the barley tea and green tea. If you’re planning a trip around Japan, this hotel is a great place to add in the middle of your itinerary to rest and recharge. Thank you for everything.

After rounds of research, I decided to stay at Hotel Green Plaza Hakone. There are few main reasons why I chose this hotel. Its location is not too close to the main station, and this gives the tranquility to the guests who stay here. However, it is just a few minutes walk from Ubako station. There are many other good hotels but could be far off from the train station, even though the guests can still take buses to go around and the hotel provides shuttles (I do still strongly prefer to take train throughout my trip, especially to and fro from hotel). Staying at this hotel is very convenient and we went around using the Hakone freepass without any issue. Ubako station is also not that busy compared to other stations like Owakudani station. Apart from that, the price it offers for a room that comes with a private hot spring is competitive compared to the others. In addition, the price covers both breakfast and dinner buffets in the restaurant at the hotel. This feature really brought us lots of enjoyment and convenience during our stay. The buffet they offered includes international food and to our surprise, they still provided big varieties of Japanese food. We tasted so much of them and felt very satisfied with the options. And not forget to mention, the food quality was very great! There were also lots of drinks and desserts options. We always had to complete our meal with a cup of Americano, which was extremely authentic to our liking. The room we went for was Japanese-Style Room With Semi Open-Air Bath. We really wanted to experience a room that has its Japanese vibe and setup. Also, we knew very clearly that we were looking for a room that comes with private hot spring, which gave us high flexibilities and convenience. The hot spring was far warmer than the public bath at the hotel, but manageable . The room came with zaisu and kotatsu setup (I tried to use the most suitable terms here but I could be wrong, basically a chair with arm rest and a table on the floor), which we two really enjoyed and decided to have the similar setup at home in future. The room was amazing and huge. The shower area, the bathroom, prepping area before we enter the hot spring, the yard, the bedroom, the zaisu and kotatsu area etc were all perfect! The soap and shampoo provided were gentle too. I wished they provided body lotion! They also gave many types of tea options with good teapot and tea cups. During our check-in, we were told that we needed to set up our futon as they wouldn't come to our room to do it. There are many places that offer this service (make the bed) but we did appreciate that we could do it ourselves. We had fun setting up our futon for the first time. Furthermore, the hotel provides few sets of yukata in the room too. When we needed more, we could just grab some from the shelf near to the counter at the lobby. The yukata came in few sizes. That was our first time trying out yukata and it was so comfortable. At the end, we wanted to buy 2 sets for ourselves but too bad, the souvenir shop was closed when we checked out. The hotel has a strategic observation deck for the guests to enjoy the view of Mount Fuji, and depending on the weather, Mount Fuji might or might not be seen. We were lucky that we could see the Mount Fuji many times during our stay (in the morning around 7am, before sun set around 4.20pm). To add on, we could see the very top of Mount Fuji from the backyard of our room too. We had taken so many mesmerizing photos of Mount Fuji at the deck. The hotel lobby is huge. There is also a corner where the guests could enjoy some hot tea and coffee (not too sure if the drinks were served during specific time but they were always available whenever we were there). Coming to the service of the hotel staff, they were fantastic. They were very polite, friendly, professional, helpful and patient. We had great experience during our check in and check out time. This hotel is really great. The moment we left our room on our last day, we knew we wanted to come back to this hotel again.

After a long day of traveling from Tokyo to Odawara to Hakone, once arriving to this hotel my party and I felt truly relaxed. The dinner is amazing, such great food and excellent western options along side traditional Japanese foods (sukiyaki, udon, etc), truly delicious and some of the staff speak English so it this place is foreigner friendly but I would recommend having some Japanese language knowledge since this is kind of a rural area. I picked the double western room but it also comes with the traditional futon, you just have to self service it. Beds are comfortable, rooms are spacious in comparison to many Tokyo hotels so it is truly a nice change. You also are provided with Yukata to wear around the hotel and onsen, so beautiful and clean. The onsens are amazing, there’s an indoor one and outdoor one with an amazing view of Mt Fuji in the day, so beautiful. I wish I stayed longer as I was only here for one night, but if I return to Japan again I will come back to Hotel Green Plaza and maybe even get the Mt. Fuji room.

Great place to stay in tranquil beautiful surroundings and if you're lucky a view of Mt Fuji. Was easy to get to (bus J from Odawara station, which took about 40 minutes longer than the expected 50 minutes due to traffic near the ropeway around noon. But the views are really spectacular). Short easy 5 minute walk from bus stop to hotel (ignore other reviews). We had Japanese style room for two. Plenty of space and great view of Fuji from the room. The bathrooms clean and perfectly fine but a bit dated. However not a problem. The onsen experience felt very traditional and really enjoyed it. I'm vegetarian and there were quite a few options in the buffet (breakfast and dinner) which was appreciated . When we left we used the great hotel shuttle to drop us at Minami Onsenso where we picked up the T bus to take us back to Odawara train station (around 50 minutes) The staff at hotel were super helpful and overall it was a great, relaxing stay.

The ryokan style room was clean and cozy, but a bit small for a family of 5. Buffet-style dinner and breakfast were decent, with selection of both Japanese and Western options.Staff were very polite and helpful, front desk staff speaks good English too.Good location for self drive travellers, near to attractions like Owakudani and Open Air Museum. The public bath (both indoor and outdoor) were great. Outdoor female onsen had the Mt Fuji view. Clear instructions to use the public bath. We had a really enjoyable stay here.

Hands down the best hotel we have ever stayed at! Everything from A to Z was absolutely amazing, the service, the location, the room, wow. We booked a Mount Fuji view room, which is quite expensive (around 500 to 700 CAD per night), but completely worth it, especially since both breakfast and dinner are included. The room was extremely spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed. They even surprised us with a box of local cookies for our honeymoon, which was such a thoughtful touch. You are also provided with a yukata (a light Japanese robe) to wear around the hotel, a lovely cultural experience. Every detail was perfect. Worth every dollar, and we would 100 percent come back!

Google
Deep in the mountains, u would expect great view but thats only if u lucky enough to get a good room. Overly priced (u could book an entire “house” around the area with private onsen for cheaper). The room still uses tv from the 2000 (not smart tv, no wifi). Specially outdated room, yes it has the jap vibe, but u would only enjoy it if you are 60-80 yo. Buffet only suitable for old people taste, if u want to eat proper jap food, u would have to travel long way down just to get proper jap food. Would i come here again? Maybe if im a 80 yo. This hotel marks my worst stay in jap.

Worth every penny staying here! We stayed for 2 nights as a break during our 2 week Japan trip. We stayed in an Asian twin room with the open air bath and it was gorgeous with very comfy beds and all the amenities. What made it extra special was that we were lucky to be able to see Mt Fuji clearly during our stay which made the open air bath even more luxurious. A nice addition to the bath too, is that the hotel provide onsen powder, to give you all the benefits of the onsen without needed to attend. The staff are excellent and very helpful, and the food although buffet style had some nice variety and is very tasty. The hotel is a tad out the way with one 40-50 minute bus ride from Odawara Station and a short walk but once you get there it's super relaxing!

Yelp
From the outside, the place doesn't look too great, but step into one of their rooms and you'll love their Japanese style set up! We'd love to go back and stay there again. Ryokan style place. Worth it!! Beds were low to the floor, but you can also pull out the thick floor mattress pads and sleep like the Japanese did/do. Rooms come with a Japanese robe, sandals, and hygiene items (toothbrush, brush, cotton swabs). Our room had a table and chairs (where you sit on the floor). Onsite is a Japanese bathhouse. The best thing here! Spas use mineral hot spring water!! We wore our robes and grabbed our hygiene and skincare stuff. Be ready for a traditional experience (everyone is naked). Men's only and women's only sections. Spas were wonderful! One was inside and the other was outside. We went late March and it was freezing, but going in the hot springs outside was amazing. Plus, it snowed! Spa is under an awning so it didn't directly snow on us, but it snowed just outside the overhang. Beautiful!!! And while walking back to our rooms while in our Japanese robes, it snowed again! What an experience!! Buffet onsite. Food is decent. Traditional mo Japanese food. Local attractions to try: pirate ship (20 mins from one end to the other) and gondola ride. Beware: sulfur springs in the area make it smell like rotten eggs. When you get to the top of the gondola ride, get the cooked black egg! It's cooked in the hot grounds there.

Yelp
Lovely hotel up in the mountains. Scenic onsen. Could not see Fuji from the men's side but apparently you can from the women's side. But still a nice onsen bath.

Yelp
I booked one night in March for this hotel. It's a bit far to get to from Tokyo but I think it was worth it. I booked it for the Mt Fuji view but it was cloudy so couldn't see it. I booked a Japanese style room which included dinner and breakfast buffet. The buffet had a lot of selection and you can try seasonal local dishes which was great. I've never had natto or sakura soba so I got to try these dishes. The onsen was really nice and well maintained. They have Dyson hair dryers in the women's locker room, what world is this? If you want private time, go when it first opens in the morning. I managed to be the only one in the outdoor onsen for at least 20 min. The staff don't speak much English but they do try to help you. I'll have to come back to see that Mt Fuji view!

Yelp
We absolutely loved our stay at HGP Hakone! The onsen has a beautiful view with incredible amenities (sauna, Dyson blowdryer, skincare products, etc.). The dinner buffet had a great assortment including hot pots, sushi, and udon; we could have eaten there for days. Highly recommend booking a Japanese style room because they are more likely to have a view of Mt. Fuji. Great value for the price!! Looking forward to coming here again.

Yelp
This is one of the places that you can be in an onsen with the view of Mt. Fuji, except don't come on cloudy foggy days. The entrance to just the onsen is 1600¥ per person and includes a face and body towel. The facility is in the B1 level. There is abundant hygienic products to test and use there. Lockers are included free to put your clothes in. The onsen has an outdoor and indoor component for both male and female. They serve sake for free during onsen from 15:00-19:00 for girls side, not sure about the men's side. The temperature is hot, would say upper limits, I can only handle being half way to 1/3 into the water. Even the showers were hot despite me trying to turn it down. Highly recommended, they make their own onsen q10 + EGF product for face, amazing because as you rub it turns into water on your face/body. Only sold in this place. Love this product, will come back again :)

Yelp
When you search hot spring hotels in Hakone with views of Mt.Fuji, this hotel is always on the top of the list. We decided to stay at this hotel for a night as a mini-getaway from Tokyo. This hotel is conveniently located right off one of the stops on the Hakone Ropeway, a 3 min walk from the station. There are signs when you get off the Ropeway directing you where to go. There is also a bus stop that isn't too far away from the hotel. When you first walk in, you are greeted by welcome drinks already poured out for you when you arrive. The check-in process was easy, and the staff would give you a rundown of the rules and a guide of the hotel. Dinner and breakfast buffet is included with your stay. At check-in you choose when you want to get dinner. You do not need to reserve a time for breakfast. The rooms were clean and spacious. Our room had two queen sized beds and a Japanese style table on top of tatami mats . When we went down for dinner, staff came into our room and moved the table aside, and helped us set up an additional two beds on the tatami mats. The food at dinner and breakfast wasn't that good but they did have a huge selection of food. Since food wasn't the main reason why I choose this place, it didn't really matter to me that the food was bad. You are provided with slippers, towels, and a yukata in your room that you bring down with you to the hot springs. The hot springs is opened until 12:00 am for hotel guests. The changing area was spacious with cubbies and lockers for you to store your belongings. They also provided a lot of skincare products for guests to use after the onsen. There are two pools, one inside and one outside in the open. The indoor onsen is a lot bigger than the outdoor one. They also have a sauna room. I enjoyed the outdoor one a lot more. Contrary to what I thought, there is still lots of people late at night and early in the morning. The view of Mt.Fuji inside the onsen was amazing during the daytime. They have 2 foot massage machines inside in the changing room as well as two massage machines in the area where people sit after their onsen. It was a great touch especially for someone like me who has been on the go for a while and really needed my muscles to be relaxed. They also have a garden with magnificent views of Mt.Fuji as well. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you are on a budget and want to experience a traditional onsen experience with a view of Mt.Fuji.
