Hotel Greif (Bolzano, Alps / Dolomites) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"When a classic European hotel undergoes a boutique renovation, there’s always a danger it’ll lose touch with its roots, that it’ll throw out the old-world baby with the faded-wallpaper bathwater. It’s something that clearly concerned Franz Staffler, the owner of Bolzano’s Hotel Greif, but judging by the results — accomplished with the help of the noted Viennese architect Boris Podrecca — the Greif has kept its heritage, even as it’s modernized its aspect." - Tablet Hotels

Great location. Weird room with two stories; bedroom upstairs and bathroom downstairs. I couldn’t find an electrical socket upstairs with the standard European two-pin…? If you need to use the bathroom in the night, wake up before going down the stairs. Staff were excellent and helpful. Location is excellent.

Great (with *one* weird caveat) The service at Hotel Greif is incredible! The greeter was very nice and helpful. Sebastian in the dining room was a delight to my daughter each morning (whoopsy!) and Diego was a very relaxed and informative bartender. Everyone was just great! My only issue was that they drained the hot tubs between 9pm and 8am! Imagine my shock as I'm having an evening soak after my daughter goes to bed, and my hot tub drains on me! And then, I couldn't get up early to enjoy it, either, because it didn't fill until after we left the hotel to explore. I asked the front desk to change the automation, and they accommodated me the next couple days, to differing degrees. I would just warn anyone renting the rooms specifically to use the hot-tubs with a view, that the hours you might enjoy them might not be allowed. I think most people would find this ridiculous--as you paid for it. That weirdness aside, the Hotel Greif is a beautiful place with great staff and is about a ten minute or less walk from the main cable car--which is perfect and lets you avoid driving and parking.

Excellent hotel in an excellent location. Very close to the Bolzano train station. All of the restaurants and shopping are right outside the front door. We got a complimentary upgrade when we checked in to a lovely room with a patio and a beautiful bathroom. One of the nicest hotel rooms we had on our entire trip to Italy. Access to the pool at the sister hotel right across the street was a great feature - especially on the 100° F summer days! Breakfast was DELICIOUS!!! Great espresso drinks, great fresh fruit, and my favorite was the salmon lox Highly recommend!

The hotel itself is very nice wth a great location. The problem we had was more to do with the reception staff. Upon checking in we had to move our car, the front desk attendant gave us the name of the parking garage without any instructions. This new garage had been open for about two weeks, So GPS was of no help in finding our way. They did not offer to help us with our luggage and you have to take an elevator up one flight of stairs to get to the main elevator. When you get off the elevator there is a surprise as you have to go down a four stairs to get to the rooms. Overall with the exception of Isabell who worked one day at the front desk the staff seemed uninterested in providing any help of service.

Great location next to the main square and a short walk from both the train and bus stations. Very friendly staff. Spacious and beautifully laid out room. Wonderful breakfast. Overall, one of the best choices in Bolzano as per our experience.

Hotel Greif is a lovely property in the heart of Bolzano, right on Plaza Walther. Our room overlooked the Plaza, which is the hub of both day and evening activity. Room was spacious, nothing overlooked. Highly recommend Walther's as a great place for a cocktail and dinner.

Breakfast was delicious every morning and a highlight of our stay.! When we had a problem with the air conditioning, the staff was incredibly kind and quickly moved us to another room. The only downside was the artwork in our first room, which depicted male anatomy in every picture and felt more like something a high schooler would draw in a bathroom stall than real art. (Not great for my 13 year old daughter) Our second room was much better, and overall this was a five-star stay thanks to the wonderful service and hospitality!

Outstanding service and a stunning hotel in a great location. This is the second time I've stayed at Hotel Greif and how easy it was relative to other hotels makes it stand out. There are fewer minor inconveniences, the things I didn't know I wanted but needed were there. When I left something in the room, Hotel staff found it, called me and made it easy to get my belongings back. I am grateful. I felt cared for without being patronised, thank you.|And my rooms were both comfortable, spacious and impeccable. Overall Hotel Greif was the best of the several good hotels I stayed in Italy.
