Good location for golden circle tourist sites. |The rooms are in separate houses. The rooms are good but when we arrived there was a company group staying. The drawback of this is our room was next to the communal lounge/ kitchen. The group of workers understandably sat and chatted in the corridor and this area. I spoke to reception and they told me the hotel was fully booked put possibly we could move the next day. |The next morning I spoke to another receptionist (female) and said we would stay in the same room but in future perhaps put group participants next to the communal area. She shrugged and said it is a hotel. |However the rooms are nice and clean. The waiting staff in the restaurant are very pleasant. |I think reception staff need more training. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Very well located for the Golden Circle. We had a Superior room which is arranged around a communal dining area and 2 excellent outdoor hot tubs. The whole complex seems like it is fairly new and is very nicely built, with small buildings spread around a central reception / restaurant. It feels clean, modern and stylish. Service was also very good and the restaurant selection for breakfast was great.

We traveled the Ring Road and stayed at multiple properties all around Iceland. Hotel Grimsborgir was our favorite place. Beautiful location, close to many attractions, but remote and private. Loved the semi-private soaking tubs, and the breakfast was the best we had in Iceland. The beds were the most comfortable we slept in on our 8-day trip. Additionally the rooms were spacious and clean.||Our only issues were:|1. Housekeeping is upon request. We requested our room to be cleaned on Friday, and it was not. This was despite being gone from the property for the day starting at 10AM and not returning until 7PM that day.|2. The dinner menu was somewhat limited. It would be a challenge to dine there multiple times due to the the lack of variety.|3. Despite it being cold outside, the rooms ran warm. The windows do not open fully, and the patio door does not stay open. As a result, we were too warm on both nights we stayed there. Perhaps this isn't a problem when visiting during colder parts of the year, but in mid-September it felt very warm in the room.||Overall a great property and would return on our next trip to Iceland.

When we arrived, everything seemed nice. When we went to bed, the light from outside was so bright (see the picture below). I asked if we could turn it off but it wasn’t an option. We both hardly slept because it was so bright with the shades closed. The room was very warm (24C / 75F). When we arrived, I turned down the heat, but I don’t think the thermostat even works. The window was open when we arrived (guessing that’s why). You have to keep the window open the whole night if you don’t want it to be 24C. We paid $280 just to not sleep. The food was good in the morning at least and the staff was attentive.

Had an absolutely wonderful time here during our 4 night stay! Location: 5/5 Yes, it is a bit away from major attractions, but it is a central location! We rented a car (which honestly is the best thing) and we were able to drive and see the major waterfalls, beaches, and even the famous plane wreck. It is also 15 minutes from a city center with a grocery story and lots of restaurants. Rooms: 5/5 Compliments to the housekeeping staff! Rooms were cleaned very well and made neatly everyday. Had good space, with a balcony, and the neatness made it feel so much more perfect. Breakfast: 5/5 Lots of options - has something for everyone. Staff: 5/5 The restaurant staff is truly wonderful. They were always tending to guests, maintaining the space, and consistently ensuring all was well. The front desk staff was helpful as well giving us restaurant recommendations too! Overall, we had a wonderful stay!

This is a very comfortable hotel, rooms in separate lodges with hot tub available. A bit of a walk to main building if you're in one of the more distant lodges, we had to drive as it was raining hard. A slight mix up with availability of a twin room meant we ended up paying for 3 rooms rather than 2 as anticipated, but the receptionist was going to try to arrange at least a partial refund. Dinner and breakfast very good.

The hotel was great. Our room was very spacious with a common area and hot tubs. The restaurant and bar area were so cozy and inviting. The staff at restaurant, bar and front desk could not have been nicer. The dinner was excellent and the breakfast over the top. We are currently noe in Vik at a hotel that cost more and can not compare. Hotel Grimsborgir gets 5 stars from me.

We had a wonderful stay here! We highly recommend this place. We needed assistance locking our door as we weren’t familiar with the lock. Within 5 min someone had drove over and kindly educated us. Our house was located on the back of the property so we got a view of all they had to offer. It felt homey and welcoming like arriving at a close family member’s house, both inside and outside. Out of all of our wonderful places we stayed, this was our favorite! Food options were limited but the restaurant on site was delicious and service was spot on!
