Hótel Gullfoss

We stayed at Hotel Gullfoss while exploring the Golden Circle. After a day of sightseeing, it was nice to turn in for the day and have a relaxing evening here. Our room was small but clean and tidy. We were at the end of a hallway and has an idyllic view of the neighbouring fields. We booked a reservation at the hotel's restaurant. The servers were lovely and the food was really fresh and expertly prepared. The menu isn't extensive but there are vegetarian/vegan options and food is locally sourced. It was a really nice ending to our long day. I'd highly recommend eating at the restaurant if you're booked for the night.

Decent room. Super friendly staff. Excellent restaurant with a surprisingly large menu for its size and they were able to accommodate my gluten alergy. Great location at the top of the golden circle. Very close to the three main attractions there and minutes away from Basecamp Skjól; the pickup point for transfers to Highland Base in Kerlingarfjöll, which was our destination the following day.

We arrived here just before sunset and they have plenty of parking. It is located only a 2 minute drive from Gullfoss. The staff were phenomenally friendly and also offered a Northern Lights wake-up service until midnight. ||The room itself was clean and large, with a good shower. The bed comfort was average.||In addition, the restaurant for dinner was excellent and had many Gluten Free options. The breakfast was also the standard European continental breakfast with some good options.

The family that owns this hotel are good people and very kind. The restaurant is quite good and you're only a short drive to Efsti-Dalur or Cafe Gullfoss for lunch. In the winter, it's very cozy and there's always hot chocolate. We really appreciate the owners for making us feel welcome and taking great care of their guests.

Excellent stay at Hotel Gullfoss. The staff were all very helpful, nice, and available. Rooms were very clean and cleaned daily. Breakfast buffet was good. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent! Try the lamb. |We arrived very late but sent email to let them know and they accommodated us. |Gullfoss is really rural so be prepared that there is no grocery or gas for miles. The great part of that was the beautiful night sky. We had great aurora viewing and staff will alert you when it’s visible. Gullfoss falls is walking distance from hotel.

This hotel is great in many aspects, except for some poorly thought-out designs. For example, the toilet flushes if you so much as lean back slightly, and the outlets and switches awkwardly positioned near the headboard are a hassle—I accidentally turned the lights on four times in one night.

Had a very nice 2 night stay at Hotel Gulfoss. Don't be fooled by the uninspiring exterior--this is a nice play to stay with a super friendly staff. Breakfast buffet was good (not overwhelmingly so), but not the best during our stay in Iceland. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was quite pleasant--the staff was very interested in making sure we had a pleasant stay. Don't expect flash/glitz/fancy rooms here, but you can expect a nice stay in a clean room, absolute peace and quiet (there is not much nearby) and a very pleasant staff. Would absolutely stay here again!

Wonderful place to stay. I booked the wrong night and when I showed up, the staff was very helpful and found me a room AND refunded me for the night I mistakenly booked. The food was amazing, we had a great time chatting with other guests over dinner. We stayed in several great hotels during our Iceland trip but this was all-around my favorite!
