My wife and I have stayed here several times over several years. It is always a delight with a wonderful host family and cozy rooms. Out most recent stay was in the house attached to the hotel. It was just as nice as the hotel. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Gurko when in Veliko Tarnovo.

We loved everything about this place! This family‑run charming Hotel Gurko in Veliko Tarnovo is located on oldest main street Gurko which has a unique combination of natural landscape and authentic arhitecture. The owners and the staff are warm, generous, and truly put guests first and made us feel like part of their family. The Room 21 was spectacular. The private balcony frames unforgettable views day and night of the Asen Dynasty Monument across the Yantra River. The rooms look fantastic, everything is clean. The amenities like free parking and Wi‑Fi reliable. Breakfast was a true standout! generous assortment of cheese and cold cuts, fresh fruit and yogurt, pastries, toast, coffee and juice, all served with care. It felt traditional and abundant. Beyond the meals, the owners and staff were exceptionally helpful, offering tips on local highlights, helping arrange parking, and speaking excellent English. They make every part of our stay seamless every time we visit Bulgaria. Our experience at Hotel Gurko was unforgettable. The combination of fireplaces, vintage wooden interiors, peaceful location, and panoramic views made it magical.

Do not expect a Hilton or a Marriott. No shower curtain, hand held shower spray only. New bathroom fixtures. No soup on dinner menu. Unsanitary electric tea kettle and coffee maker. Comfortable bed, HVAC works. Prepare to be served a massive breakfast one person could never consume. Owner does not take no for an answer. Delicious food. Tap water not recommended in Veliko Tarnovo.

River views and old lanes within walking reach. The room is clean and cozy, and at night I sit on the balcony watching the old town lights. Homemade breakfast with local jams and cheeses. Helpful staff for directions and taxis. A comfortable base to explore at an easy pace.

A beautiful, characterful hotel in the heart of the fascinating old town. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast and dinners were delicious and plentiful. All the staff were helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend a visit.

Perfect spot right in the city. A small hotel, it's tucked away on a small stone-lined street just below the main street (Veliko Tarnovo is a vertical city). That means it's accessible but quiet. The view is to die for, making the breakfast and dinner experience perfect. The staff is friendly and the room comfortable - excellent value for money.

We loved everything about this place! The rooms look fantastic, everything is clean, and the view is gorgeous. The food is 10/10 everything we ordered was very well cooked. All the ladies we have spoken to are crazy nice. She was also able to find us a parking place. The only small thing was with the payment through Booking.com that we still have to figure it out - I forgot to pay 😅 I thought the payment would go through Booking.com and it seems it didn’t. But we’ll find a way to fix it I’m sure.
