We spent a wonderful 4 nights here. We had Room 27, which was spacious with separate lounge and bedroom. It has a partial view of the sea. The room was very clean. The road outside is busy but we didn’t hear traffic noise in the room when the doors were shut. The staff were very helpful and gave tips on the locations to visit. The hotel is well placed and it is easy to walk to all of the sights. Breakfast is included and offers a very good selection, not just cake and coffee. Although better cappuccinos are had in other cafes. The breakfast staff could have provided better and more friendly service.

A really nice slightly different hotel, we loved the furniture and the general style. The rooms aren't huge but had everything you need. Good shower (slightly small) but plenty of hot water, comfy bed, good Wifi . A balcony for both the room and bathroom.|We had stayed at 5 different locations as we were on a cycling holiday and we thought this was the best breakfast we had all week. Lots of fresh food, coffee good, homemade yoghurt, as well as some sweet cakes, but all italian breakfasts have this so it's part of being in Sicily I think. Good service and everyone very helpful.|The roof top terrace is a lovely place for an early evening drink, fabulous views over the bay.|We accept the room was slightly noisy at night as the hotel is one the one way system which goes around the island so does catch the traffic, however Syracuse is very busy generally so not unusual I would imagine. We stayed two nights and had a sea view which we loved.|Definitely recommended.

Hotel Gutkowski is the perfect place to stay to explore Isola di Ortigia the small island in the historical centre of the city of Syracuse and the southern area of Sicily. The city is very walkable and the hotel is well situated on the water’s edge on the eastern side. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were clean. The hotel has a common deck for an early evening drink to watch the sun set before dinner. The hotel dining room has a very good vegetable forward approach and well worth getting a reservation for. There is a large public pay lot a block away and it is patrolled.

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights and loved it. It is charming, quiet, and right on the water. And, importantly, the rooms can get very cool, which is important if you're visiting in the often scorchingly hot summer. You will also be just a few minutes' walk from the Parcheggio Talete (a grungy parking lot) — you may see some horrific reviews for it, but if you avoid the ticket machine and use the EasyPark app instead you'll be fine. If you're visiting Siracusa, you'll want to stay in Ortigia, and Hotel Gutkowski is an affordable, comfortable option.

We enjoyed an extremely pleasant stay in the hotel annexe ( as we requested a seaview superior room ). The room was spacious and beautifully decorated with both contemporary and antique furnishings. The bed was very comfortable with excellent linen. New double glazed windows gave good sound insulation at night from outside noise from the street. The air-conditioning unit is also quiet. The bathroom was very good except for a strangely small shower head, positioned high above the tiles, luckily I am tall! Some hooks for hanging wet towels would be useful though. We appreciated the generous and delicious breakfast, with many homemade or locally sourced, mainly organic produce. The hotel team were charming and very helpful. If arriving by car, registration of the number plate via the hotel is essential as a local resident restriction zone operates. We parked in the nearby Talete public car park, using 10 & 5 Euro notes per 24 hours. The municipality should update the parking machines as a nightmare to use. To be fair, our hotel receptionist did recommend use of the Easypark App. A lovely stay in an amazing location with plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

This is a lovely hotel and we had a great time. The off season pricing was approachable. Our room didn't have a view but it was right off a terrace that had an absolutely gorgeous view. The room was cozy and quiet, even during the storm that came in on our last night. Everything was clean and tidy. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The breakfast in the morning was simple, but delicious with enough options to fill you up for a morning of walking and site seeing. I especially appreciated the morning cappuccinos. The restaurant was closed during our stay but the hotel is within a several minutes walk of many great food options. Be aware that parking on Ortigia has recently changed and the hotel is no longer able to offer free parking, as overnight island parking is now for residents only. So if you drive you will need to park across the bridges in Siracusa.

The location by the sea is perfect. The room was big with a great decor: white walls, terracotta floor and great old furniture. The common spaces are cozy and the funky style is nice. We went for a room with sea view, worth it. Breakfast was just ok.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would rate this hotel above a 2! The rooms were very basic and so loud. Our room was on the first floor main building. The weather was quite hot but the owner only allows the air conditioner to be turned on for a few hours in the afternoon. To sleep at night you have to open the windows which doesn’t cool your room hardly at all. Plus the bugs flying in. We were on the street side so you dealt with loud vehicle and people traffic, garbage trucks at midnight and cats yowling in the early morning. Very little sleep was had, in addition I sent out for laundry and it came back so wrinkled I had to ask for an iron as no one would want to wear those clothes! In addition the breakfast was barely passable. Take my word for it, this is not a hotel you want to stay at unless you have very low standards!
