I would highly recommend Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin if you are looking for a visit to Rincón de la Vieja National Park or would like to experience some beautiful waterfalls with handing bridges and hot springs. Especially for families with children of all ages it has so much to offer, and they are WONDERFUL WITH ALLERGIES of all kinds. Their restaurant is completely Gluten Free and they were able to accommodate all of our families other allergies as well. The staff was lovely and the property with all the variety of activities offered is a huge plus. Staying at the hotel allows you access to the Hot Springs and Waterfalls so you do not have to purchase additional entrance fees or go with an outside guide company. We only stayed one night but it was well worth it and we would have stayed longer had more people in our party been interested in some longer hikes in the national park. Well worth the trip and visit to the National Park- it was the highlight of the trip for my daughter and I!

Fantastic stay! The rooms were just as described and pictured on the website. We really like the layout of the property and being able to walk to the restaurant, nature walks, and adventure center. It wa very convenient to have our own car to access the national park, waterfalls and hot springs, but it seemed like the shuttle was prompt too. The tubing was so fun! My family did the canopy tour and had a fun time. We saw capuchin monkeys and a big yellow rat snake along the red pools walk, very cool. We loved all the waterfall walks. The food was excellent with lots of gluten free options- much appreciated! The buffet was really delicious and had a lot of variety. All well seasoned food and very nice service. All the staff were friendly and helpful. If we ever return to the area, we would definitely stay here again!

We stayed in the Luxury Eco Tent. It was private and surrounded by nature. We saw so many unique animals just walking around the property. The eco tent is safe and enclosed with A/C and very nice showers. The eco tent also comes with free breakfast delivered to your front door every morning. This breakfast was some of the best I’ve ever had - complete with coffee and fresh fruit juice. We did a guided hike to La Cangreja Waterfall. This was probably the most memorable part of our trip. It was challenging but incredibly rewarding. Our guide was great - we learned so much along the way and the views were amazing. Definitely get a guide if you want to the La Cangreja hike and don’t try to do it alone. For a quicker and less challenging hike, you can do the La Oropendola waterfall which is less than a mile round trip and mostly paved.

This is an amazing property. From the minute I stepped off the shuttle I felt welcomed and was in awe with the beautiful grounds. There’s so much to see and do that is included with your stay. The grounds and trails are well maintained and marked well with directions and names of trees. The food was very good and I really appreciated all the options as I am gluten-free and dairy free. The food was very clean and tasty. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. We did private birdwatching and tour of the Rincón national Park with Johnny. He was so knowledgeable, easy going and a skillful naturalist. I learned so much from him. The pace of our hike in the national Park allowed for time to take in the views and discover many varieties of wildlife. In addition, we very much enjoyed the spa experience, the mud and hot springs experience as well as visiting the waterfalls on the property. I highly recommend Hacienda Guachipelin.

I would highly suggest this place. Rooms are great, we stayed in rooms that were part of a connected building, but the noise level was low from other guests. The property and location are the highlights! Access to the Rio Negro Hot Springs, the waterfalls right on the property, and the adventure park. The ziplining was my favorite in Costa Rica. Great location to access the Rincon de la Vieja National Park.

We loved this property! The staff was amazing and the room was clean and comfortable. You can hike to several waterfalls and swim in the clear blue water then warm up in the hot springs. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub which were refreshing and provided a great spot for happy hour viewing of the volcano. So much to do here and near by. We'll be returning again next year. Try the casado in the Hacienda Restaurant, so good and a great variety.

We had a wonderful stay. The surroundings are breathtaking, but what really sets this place apart is the staff. Every single person we met was not only incredibly friendly but also highly competent, whether we were doing the mud bath, tubing, or zip-lining. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and very comfortable. We were also impressed by the food. It was yummy and with good variety. The entire operation is exceptionally well-run. There are many, many activities to choose from. I’d happily stay here forever. Highly recommended.

This review is specific to the mountain bike rentals and single track tours. I am an avid mountain biker and was excited to do some riding in costa rica. The bikes on the website are well known high quality brands (Santa Cruz mostly), so I expected well taken care of bikes and knowledgeable bike staff. Unfortunately, the bikes were really poorly maintained and bike staff were not very bike savvy. Once we got going both front and rear suspension were blown out. The seat post and collar slipped and needed regular adjustment on the 6 km climb, and on the descent the suspension was bottoming out because the seals were shot and they had not been properly maintained. It took away from the experience of what would have been some really cool trails. Half way down the descent it dawned on me that no real safety check had been done on the brakes, or front and rear thru axles. Im a confident rider, but that's pretty sketchy and could lead to a nasty bail or injury. I expressed my concerns to staff after the ride and gave them a list of things to consider repairing and/or upkeeping to ensure satisfaction and safety of future riders. I wasn't pushing for a refund or discount, I mainly tried to explain from the perspective of a moutain biker that this kind of thing will continue to upset clients and that with a bit of regular maintenance people will leave smiling instead of kind of annoyed they spent a bunch of money on a good bike that's been left to rot. The staff humored me with my little list of repairs but honestly no one really seems that interested in bikes. If youre a beginner, you might not notice, but insist on a safety check. If youre getting a guide, ask them to indicate any hazards or changes in terrain. Our guide said nothing about this. Not a problem for me, as id rate the trails as green to blue, but would be an issue for a beginner rider. Also, seriously consider whether you 'need' a guide. The trails were all marked and he didn't really do anything for us. Nice enough guy, but .... In the end no discount or refund was offered from the front desk staff or management. So don't expect that sort of thing if you do go and it kinda sucks. Remember, this is bike specific, I did not stay in the hotel or do any other activities, so I cannot comment on those. Hope this helps folks wanting to rent bikes in CR. Lots of the other stuff Hacienda does seems cool. Can't speak to it though
