I was horrified to have someone enter my room through the window whilst I was having breakfast. They went past various valuables (including my wallet) which I'd left highly visible on the bed that morning, ready to take with me for the day. The thief went to a zipped up handbag in the cupboard and stole a very significant amount of cash and my passport - they were in the same envelop. The thief must have had prior knowledge of the money's location. A random search by an opportunist thief would have taken the money from my wallet and other valuables before finding the cash they stole. And how did the thief know I had left my room if they were not told by someone from the inside? You can not see my door from the outside of the hotel. Someone spending time looking in through the window from the hotel lawn when I could just be in the bathroom sounds rather risky to me.||||Later that day I noticed the window was in a open lock position so it could easily be slid open form the outside. I got the hotel staff to show them this. They fiddled with the lock then told me there was no problem - I saw them switch the latch but they denied it.||||There was one pretty abrupt and rude receptionist, who acted as if I lost a €5 note whilst out and about that day! She was very unhelpful in guiding me to the local police station and with all other arrangements I had to make to postpone my trip home as I had no passport. Unbeknown to me, my credit card details were not saved for my extended stay. That night, this receptionist called the restaurant staff and told them not to serve me. The restaurant staff did not know why, just said this was what the front desk called to say. It was incredibly humiliating in front of the other guests. All someone needed to do was either ask me to pay up front or ask for my card again.||||The hotel was clean, but the rooms smelt musty and like they are not used that regularly. Tea / coffee facility in the rooms would also have been a great and simple addition, especially as I was leaving early most mornings (but not the morning described above!!) and was told although I had to pay for breakfast, I was not allowed into the breakfast room 15 minutes early to make myself a coffee or take a croissant away with me. I thought I might be allowed to take some fruit on the go if I waited until their opening time of 7.30am, but was once again stopped as I left the room and told to hand back the apple. And to add insult to injury, the morning I stayed later and had breakfast, was also the morning I spooned some very large creepy crawlies out of the jar of strawberries. I quietly mentioned this to the waiter so she could deal with it subtly, and although she picked up the strawberry jar, she simply put it back on the table in a different place without clearing it out - I could even see other insects in there!!||||I have never complained about any hotel like this before. It took 4 days for me to see the manager. If he and the hotel had apologised for what happened and said they would look into it, I would have felt totally differently - and even had some sympathy for them. But a total lack of engagement from the staff and manager, and only defensive conversations leaves a very unsupported and bitter feel to the whole sorry situation. The manager refused to answer any of my questions and just kept repeating the same sentence - saying it is usually a very safe area. A passer by would not have thought we were in the same conversation! I was made to feel it was my fault and nothing to do with the hotel. I have since heard rumours this is not the first time something like this has happened at this hotel, although I have no evidence for this statement.||||Really, really not good and I have never experienced anything like this before.
