We discovered this exceptional hotel during an online search, and it far surpassed our expectations. The location is simply perfect—situated in an ideal spot that made exploring the area incredibly convenient. The entire property was spotless and meticulously maintained, with an attention to detail that was immediately noticeable and added to the overall ambiance. However, what truly made our stay memorable was the staff. Every interaction we had with the team was a pleasure; they were consistently warm, courteous, and highly professional. A special mention must go to the reception staff, who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Their level of service was nothing short of exemplary, making us feel truly valued as guests. Given this outstanding experience, we can't imagine staying anywhere else when visiting this area again. The combination of a prime location, well-maintained facilities, and exceptional service makes this hotel a standout choice for any traveler.

We had a team dinner at Hotel Hafen Hamburg, and the experience was overall fantastic. The atmosphere was great, with a beautiful view and a cozy, maritime-themed interior. The food was delicious, and everyone in our group enjoyed their meals once they arrived. The only downside was the waiting time—we had to wait about 60 minutes for our food, which was a bit longer than expected. Despite that, the staff was friendly, and we still had a great time. Would definitely recommend, just be prepared for a bit of a wait!

Very nice hotel, clean and on good position. Employees in restaurant are smiled and very friendly, but receptionists are disinterested for help. Also problem with parking is big issue, although they claim they have parking - there is no parking provided by hotel. There is only public parking which is always taken and so expensive. Receptionists are not interested to explain anything.

This hotel has very high standards in terms of cleanliness and quality. The rooms are a good size, the food is excellent - the breakfast selection is incredible! Location is good in terms of transport connections and the city - be prepared for some steps to get quickly down to the river!

Hotels in Hamburg were expensive during my stay, and this was no exception. I did not see before I booked that to access the hotel you have to walk 100 stairs up from the harbour side station. That or go to another station and walk past a homeless hostel near the Reeperbahn where lots of men were sitting drinking and waiting for the hostel to open. I think this needs to be better publicised before booking. ||I checked in early as I had arrived early and there was a charge of 40 euros for this but I was tired and wanted to get settled before going out exploring. Finding the front door of the hotel was a challenge as there were building works going on where the 100 stairs ended and that door was blocked so I was directed around the outside of the hotel by a staff member. ||They said they had upgraded me from a Captain’s room to a family room but I also heard them telling the same thing to the next two people to check in so it was hard to feel special. The room was very large (for one person!) with a view of the other block of hotel rooms. It would have been nice to look over the harbour but I guess this is another extra charge. It was quite old fashioned and appeared to have been remodeled in the 80s using lots of wood panelling. But not updated since. ||When I got to the room the TV was not working, nor was the desk lamp. I reported them both and the TV was fixed. The only English language channels were several news channels including BBC, CNN, Al Jazeera and CNBC. And the TV did not allow screen mirroring so I watched stuff on my iPad. The lamp was not fixed until I complained again on the second day. As this was the nearest light source to the desk, it was annoying. ||There was a bath in the bathroom with a shower over it and the room and the bathroom were both clean. Although the towels could be larger and newer, they were quite small and frayed. There was a mini fridge and safe in the room but no kettle. Fortunately I had my travel kettle with me. There was plenty of hanging space including a separate space for coats. It was not possible to control the heating in the room and it was a bit hot for me. ||My stay was just OK but if I return to Hamburg I will be giving another hotel a try in the hope of finding one that focuses on the quality of their offering, this one appears to be just focused on getting money out of the guests for the minimum return.

Short and clear. The lack of organization, the rooms are tidy, for breakfast I think the price is too high in terms of food and quality, if you serve yourself for 27€, you have to look for a free table or ask someone to take the other side, (the food gets cold and becomes tasteless); there is no coffee machine, and you have to wait until they bring you low-quality coffee in a thermos, you cannot take it yourself, and you have to spoil your mood during the conflict to want to take coffee, there is no information that you cannot take it. If you don't like black coffee, you have to ask the bartender until she brings it and it's cold. It's your decision whether to pay 27€ or it's better to eat elsewhere in the restaurant.

Stayed here in May with my daughter and her boyfriend in order to go to a concert. I last stayed here about 40 years ago and I am pleased to announce that it is still great. An imposing building in a very convenient location. Comfortable rooms (albeit a bit small), a lovely bar (i don't normally like hotel bars) and a nice restaurant. The best thing about Hotel Haven is the staff, friendly, welcoming, professional and polite. I won't leave it another 40 years!

Hot hot hot!!! No airconditioning in the rooms is a big negative. Also the staff in the tower bar were very unfriendly and rude. The rest of the hotel staff was very nice! Helpful by providing fans to battle the heat, which helped a little bit. The hotel is very beautiful especially if you are into the Maritime theme. Rooms are clean and nice, but 3 stars due to missing AC.. Would not visit again unless they installed airco.

I had a pretty good stay here and appreciated the proximity to the S- and U-Bahn. I think aspects of the hotel felt more on par with a 3 star rating for me, but the service was quite good so I'm bumping my rating up. The hotel is close to public transit, which is a double-edged sword - it's easy to get around, but the transit is above ground so it's kind of noisy. As a light sleeper I was worried, but I actually had no issues (and appreciated the ear plugs in the room). While the trains are close, it does require a big climb up multiple sets of stairs. If you have a lot of luggage it's wise to take a cab there. So, the not-so-good...rooms were as small as my husband and I could have managed, and the pillows were very flat (we requested two extra but honestly I could have used even more beyond that). We couldn't locate any temperature control, so it was quite warm at night. The good, though...it was comfortable, the view from our room was amazing, and the breakfast buffet was incredible. Getting laundry done was reasonable and easy, and our room was tidied each day. The front desk seemed happy to accommodate requests I made. Overall, it felt like the hotel catered toward a slightly older clientele than us (we are in our early 30s), so I'd probably seek out something a bit more design-focused or more modern next time. Still, it's a great choice for location and service!

Top notch. If you can get a $70 rate go for it Central location, beautiful hotel great in-house restaurant. Nearby bakeries are amazing with low sugar, low-fat fare, that doesn't taste any less

Worst two nights. First rooms smelled so bad we had to change. When we asked the front desk for a new room they said someone else said the same thing early. It smelled of chemicals and rotting flesh. The only other room available had the same issues but the sprayed air freshener. We were told we would be upgraded our second night only to find out that was not the case. It's a beautiful hotel but any place that rents out rooms that are known to smell so bad you can't walk in them... Well that's just super shitty on all kinds of levels.

Checked in and there were ear plugs on the pillow - bad sign. No Air Conditioning meant it was very hot and the windows needed to be left open. Unfortunately it is right next door to the train station and a construction site - noise is a big issue. Also, most rooms have no WIFI though there is wired internet (a couple floors are exceptions). The wired internet required a passcode from the front desk that expires every 2 days and has a data transfer quota attached. Tough to effectively work from here.
