Amazing stay! The rooms were beautiful, clean, and authentically decorated. Every morning we enjoyed a freshly made, delicious breakfast. The staff was so welcoming and friendly, and the location couldn’t be better — right in the heart of Prague! We also loved the little touch of their homemade liquor delivered to our room every day. Can’t wait to be back!

Excellent location, within walking distance of St. Charles Bridge, astronomical clock, and train station. The hotel is quiet, yet there are numerous restaurants and bars in the area, including a very nice bar in the hotel itself. Thoughtful touches include robes in the room, coffee/tea in the lobby, and umbrellas to borrow. English-speaking staff. Rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast is amazing; very good quality and lots of variety. Bonus for those on a longer vacation, there is a laundry around the corner that can wash and fold for you.

We’re a family of four and stayed in the family apartment at Hotel Hastal. For us, it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The hotel is perfectly maintained with an authentic and classic ambience. The location was excellent and we walked to most major sights, which made exploring Prague with kids easy.||Front desk staff were consistently friendly and helpful. The family apartment room on the 6th floor was spacious, comfortable, and quiet.||Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice but it was the hotel’s 24/7 complimentary hot beverages with coffee and hot chocolate setup that really appreciated especially after a long day out.||Overall, Hotel Hastal Prague offers superb value in the heart of Prague. We’d highly recommend Hotel Hastal for all types of travellers especially if you want character, comfort, and a walkable base.

Hotel was old but well kept. Rooms on the small side but everything else made up for that. Great location-close to everything but tucked away enough that you don’t hear the busy nightlife.||Service was amazing and exceeded expectations from Julie to Osmy at the front desk. Very helpful and knowledgeable. We had an early morning flight and they arranged for the kitchen to pack us breakfast. This was so appreciated!||Highly recommend and will stay there again.

My group just spent three nights in this hotel (3couples) and it could not have been any better. I loved the old world feel and modern comforts. I felt at home. The location was so perfect. We walked to everything we wanted to do or caught public transportation for further locations. The breakfast was outstanding I will miss the delicious selections. The staff was so helpful and kind. I will certainly return to this ferment boutique hotel again.

We loved everything about our experience at the Hotel Haštal—super friendly and helpful staff, great location for Stare Mesto, and comfortable spaces with historic character. It definitely feels family-owned with great care for the details, a welcoming glass of liqueur, advice for the best cash exchange, and help finding the right tours. Big bonus that the Lokál restaurant just feet away was affordable, popular and very tasty. The price was right and included a tasty breakfast.

Booked this hotel based on the very positive reviews here and elsewhere, as I like to patronize smaller/family-run hotels when possible. The location is excellent - you can reach almost all major sights in Prague by foot or it is very easy to access tram/bus/subway within a few minutes' walk. There are also plenty of restaurants and shops nearby including pharmacy, grocery store, etc. At the same time, the hotel is located in a quiet square so you are not bothered by too much city noise and crowds. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast staff less enthusiastic but polite.||The hotel itself is decorated in a classic style and there are lounge areas to relax in as well as free coffee/tea in the lobby. Our room was somewhat old-fashioned in decor, which suits the hotel, but had conveniences like a mini-fridge, AC, etc. What was a bit confusing were the room categories as listed on the website vs booking page vs what we actually got. The hotel website lists "Superior Standard" ,"Deluxe" ,"Superior" and "Cozy" room categories but when we booked direct from this website, we were offered the category "Standard" which is not actually mentioned on the website. Then when we arrived, we were told we were "upgraded" - however as far as we could tell, the upgrade was only that we had a view of the square. The room itself was not an upgrade as far as size or facilities (for example, old small TV so clearly we were not in Superior or Deluxe category according to website descriptions). Other booking engines offer yet different categories. Although we appreciated the view of the square, it would also be helpful if the room descriptions and categories were more transparent and matched across the website/booking platforms. ||In any case, the room was comfortable and clean with plenty of space for storing bags and a sitting area. The bathroom was a bit of a weak spot. We would have liked an extra shelf to put things on and there were also some maintenance issues including an exceedingly slow drain in the shower which meant we had to turn the water off every 30-45 seconds and then wait 2-3 minutes in between for it to drain out so as not to flood the bathroom. We reported this so hopefully it is fixed for the next guests. There was also some mildew/mold in the shower cabin (which was removed after the first housekeeping visit) and a constantly dripping shower head. ||Breakfast was ok, but has room for improvement. The space is a bit cramped when full and the buffet area is rather dismally lit which doesn't help the presentation. At this level and price point of hotel, I would also expect things like real orange juice, not the watery thin "juice" on offer. An alternative like apple juice would be welcome too. The bread and pastries were fine and the "bullseye" eggs were good, but the rest of the buffet was rather uninspiring and there were a lot of fruit flies around. Personally the breakfast did not really add anything for me and I don't really get the rave reviews. ||My criticisms are meant as constructive and overall, we did enjoy our stay here. I would consider staying here again thanks to the location and the cozy/quiet atmosphere, however an option to book on the website without breakfast would be welcome.

We spent 8 nights in two different rooms at this hotel and it was wonderful. The staff was friendly and helpful and spoke perfect English. The rooms were charming and comfortable. We could not have been happier with our experience.

Yelp
Fantastic+ Service is exceptional and warm, especially from receptionist Tom (raised in U.S. but moved back w parents in Prague and loves it).. Centrally located to many historical sites. Breakfast is a glorious spread and included in the hotel booking. Housekeeping service every day. We felt so at home I felt compelled to run home to the hotel after everyday, like I knew my mum was there to care for me. Tomorrow we check into the Hilton but now I just don't want to go there... Hotel Hastal is the classiest place ever, but not necessarily flashy or glitzy. Conservative, classic. The attached bar is also special; very young mixologists w stiff sophisticated and smooth unique drinks. So needed after a cold day in Prague. Hard for me to muffle our excitement on this place. Thanks Rick Steves for this top notch recommendation! More than wow.

Yelp
Hotel Hastal Prague Old Town Hotel Hastal is located just outside the Jewish Quarter in Prague's Old Town. The great location makes it easy to access all of Prague's sights, especially if you take advantage of the subway and tram system. A tram stop is a short five minute walk from the hotel. If you walk five minutes in the opposite direction, you will find the Old Town Square, featuring the Tyn Church and the Old Town Hall Tower with its popular Astronomical Clock. The hotel is not fancy, but is very comfortable and clean. Art Nouveau works from Alfons Mucha decorate the hallways and the rooms. Our room provided plenty of space along with a double bed, desk with a chair and closet. The room also included a small TV and a safe. The bathroom was spacious with a corner shower. The large double window overlooked a mostly quiet small square and church. A delicious breakfast of hot and cold food is included with the room. The breakfast buffet includes eggs, sausage, meats, cheeses, breads, yogurts, cereals, and jams. The options do not rotate, so plan accordingly for long visits. A coffee machine and tea are available 24 hours a day, a very nice perk! We caffeinated up one afternoon before taking to the streets again for a concert. A double room starts at 80 Euros (about $110) per night. We emailed the hotel, booking directly with them. A credit card number was required to hold the room, but only cash (USD, Euros, or Crowns) are accepted at checkout. For Rick Steves followers, Rick recommends this hotel in his 2014 Prague & the Czech Republic Guidebook.

Yelp
We loved staying here. Favorite spot of our month long European vacation. Friendly staff with amazing history of life in Prague under communists. Locally owned. Perfect location in the center of historic distance and easy walking everywhere even with luggage to the train station. Would love a return visit.

Yelp
I read about this hotel is Rick Steves' write-up of places to stay in Prague. Based on that and the previous reviews, I went ahead and booked my 3 night stay. I did a Google Street View drive-by (which includes a little inside navigation as well- very cool), so I kind of knew where to go and what to look for when I got there. While I was checking in with the friendly front desk clerk, the manager came up to me and personally greeted me and thanked me for coming. There is a nice large, wide stairway, but a handy elevator as well, which I was not expecting based many prior stays at smaller independent hotels throughout Europe. Not having to lug my bags up to the 3rd floor was nice. The room seemed freshly renovated with delightful colors and wonderful European down bedding. Sure, the room is small by American standards, but by European standards it was exactly what I was expecting. There was a small flat screen TV, nice small desk, an armoire to store clothes, and a safe (but it was not bolted down, so I don't know what purpose it would serve except to serve as a nice handy place to store all your valuables for someone to walk away with). The soap and shampoo provided could have been a little larger for my taste, but they provided fresh ones every day. Europeans don't always provide a small washcloth with the assortment of towels, so bring your own if you need it. Air Conditioning is available, but you have to call to the front desk to have it activated remotely. I didn't need it with an open window to the courtyard below. Wi-fi (wi-lan) worked great. Fast enough to download my favorite podcast and they have several repeaters for the various floors. The breakfast was one of the best ones I've ever had with a breakfast-included hotel. Scrambled eggs, small sliced Czech-style hot dogs, cereals, juices, teas, great coffee, breads, sliced meats, sliced cheeses, steamed vegetables, etc. A very nice lay-out. I loved the automatic coffee/espresso machine out in the lobby. Every time I came back to the hotel, I had it make me a nice fresh cup of espresso. Quality was way better than I was expecting from an automated machine. Loved that touch! Parking is a problem in any old-town European city. If you have to bring a car, the hotel has an arrangement with a shopping center a short walk away where you can park your car in the underground garage. Again, this is one of the nicest garages I've ever been in. The Europeans really know how to make an underground concrete parking garage look very nice and pleasant. It cost me about a hundred dollars to park for 3 nights, so be aware that parking in a very dense European city is not cheap. When they give you directions to the parking garage, be careful that you do NOT inadvertently drive down into the garage marked "Palladium"-- that is the garage for the mall across the street and they don't have an arrangement with them. It's east to get confused, so pay close attention to the driving directions given to you by the front desk clerk. Upon check-out, I was again approached by the manager, thanking me very much for my stay. I must say, I have NEVER seen such friendly and grateful hotel management. They really strive hard to make sure your stay is pleasant. It seems they prefer that you pay in cash upon departing, which may be inconvenient. I don't really understand why. Regardless, definitely stay here. You won't regret it!
