Very cool surroundings with the old hospital grounds. Beautiful view from the rooms as you can look out on the water - but when the darkness falls over these areas and you go for a walk. There are some really creepy statues/sculptures out there! Small girls sitting in crying positions, weird dogs outside the doctors old mansion. Perfect for a late night horror-walk. At our arrival at the hotel there was free coffee, tea and biscuits in the hall - Loved that! And a big morning buffet. We didn't pay for the buffet as it was a special offer we got during winter. So I wouldn't know the price. Nice and modern rooms, everything is newly renovated and decorated in beautifully matching colors - I really enjoy stuff like that. Just as I love the take-a-book-from-the-shelf-if-you-want option. I will probably come again!

Quiet hotel with great outdoor area for families. Basic breakfast included with the most popular cold and warm dishes. Dinner in the restaurant tasted good although the menu wasn't the largest. Family friendly and low key atmosphere. Short ten minutes drive to the nearest town where you can find more restaurants and shops.

Nice restaurant with good food, helpfull staff (ppl from smaller cities in Sweden are in general more pleasant than the ones living in the larger cities, but that's true for most countries).||Rooms are a bit too basic though, not really cozy. ||But the price was fantastic. Payed 1500 sek for the whole family and that included 2 course dinner and entrance fee for Innovatum (a science center in Trollhättan).||As said before; it's a bit outa town, but who would go to Vänersborg for shopping?||If you've got kids I'd recommend "Vattenpalatset" (an adventure bath). It's not big, but it's not over crowded and a nice place to go if you've got kids.

It’s a very comfortable hotel newly renovated. Rooms are not so large, but clean and have all necessary things. The hotel located near lake and has a large territory around. There is restaurant inside which has also tables outside. Included breakfast with all popular meal. The hotel has 4 charging stations for EV which cost 95 SEK.

The rooms were recently renovated so they were really nice. The shower only had the hand held nossle. The staff was nice and the breakfast really good.|The location is just ok. A bit away from town but the view from the dining hall is nice. But there is nothing to do on walking distance. And the area isn’t the most pitoresque. But if you have car you can go into town.

We booked the hotel for a very cheap price and didn't have high expectations. The rooms are small and have the flair of a youth hostel (none), bathroom is tiny and shower is separated from the rest of the bath with a curtain - but as said we didn't expect much. Food in the restaurant was good (except the buffet menu - better chose a la carte). ||On the positive side - great location just 100m from the canal only separated by a football ground, free bikes which we used for a ride to Trollhaettan along the river and Lake and very friendly and helpful staff - we extended our stay for another night. ||

This hotel es booked by our travel agency. We had booked a trip around Sweden and were very excited to stay at Vänersborg for two nights. However, we fled after the first night. It has been the absolutely worst hotel experience we have ever had.||Here are some details for you:||- The hotel is far away from the town, you have to drive by car to go anywhere. The hotel is located next to a refugee accommodation. Their children played very loudly on the playground in front of the hotel, even at 11 p.m. and later.||- When we wanted to check in, the staff couldn’t find out reservation. They seemed to be overwhelmed.||- The worst thing about our stay was our room. The first room we were given was extremely dirty. So we complained and asked for a different room. The second room wasn’t any better. Everything was covered in dust. The windows were dirty and had dead flies on them. Everywhere in our room was dark hair. On the bed, on the furniture, on the toilet. The furniture itself was very old, beaten and in some cases damaged. The sink wasn’t mounted properly, the toilet didn’t flush right and our night table was so poorly mounted, they it came off the wall.

Quite uninspiring overall. Small, cheaply decorated rooms, but clean and fresh. Restaurant follows the same lines, uninspiring menue but good service. The main take away is the great terrace with a grand view over the Göta Canal and the park in front. Beautiful!
