Superb, extremely well run, as well as great value hotel! ||We understand why people keep coming back year after year to this family-run operation: after a few days, you are part of the family! ||Great ambiance, good food (we took the 1/2 board option: at breakfast, you are given a sheet with the weather, a local recipe, and the menu of the evening: you can then tell them what you are allergic to, and they’ll propose something else). There are several delightful dining rooms (we prefer the smaller ones, more intimate). ||But, what we liked BEST was the SPA area: large, sunny, covered pool overlooking the village and its church from afar (however, a little too much chlorine for my taste as I am allergic to it), 2 large saunas (one with wonderfully aromatic hay), 1 small steam room, 1 huge round tub of cold water for the bold ones and a lovely silent relaxation room ( remember that we are in a “Germanic” area where one takes saunas in the nude). There is also a small but good gym next to the main pool. The actual SPA is lovely and unpretentious: Paula gives great “hay treatments” (you lay on a warm water bed covered with aromatic hay…SO relaxing after a whole day skiing!). ||The rooms are very, very nice: even the least expensive ones come with plush robes and slippers (do ask for one overlooking the valley). On the ground floor, there is a nice area with a lot of toys and legos for children, as well as a library area with many books on the art and history of the region. ||The only glitch is the WIFI: it rarely works, even downstairs in the lobby ( however we appreciated the fact that it is cut off at night in the bedrooms to avoid electro magnetic pollution)||All in all, the Heubad is a great value hotel that we recommand highly ( if you go during the winter, it is a little far from the slopes, but it is well worth it) ||Thank you Elizabeth, Martha, Paula, and the whole crew, chefs and waitresses included! ||We shall be back!
