Hotel Heureka, Cannaregio, Venice, Italy - Explore & Book

"In a city dripping with elegance, it’s hard to stand out. But this 16th-century canal-side palazzo dazzles with its strikingly flamboyant makeover. Sumptuous (but not chintzy), historic (but not stuffy) and lavishly Baroque (but not vulgar) - it's a hard mix to pull off, but the owners have got it spot on. After years spent hunting the perfect building to host their vision, the doors of this crumbling palace were flung open and - Eureka! - a hotel was born. Faithfully restored keeping the original layout, the exposed brickwork, polished marble floors and beamed ceilings provide the canvas for bold art and playful furnishings. 10 rooms offer superb beds and free-standing tubs; 2 large piani nobili house sitting rooms with opulent Murano chandeliers and a grand piano. If all this overwhelms, the antidote can be found in the walled garden, a haven of tranquility for alfresco breakfasts and afternoon naps. Tucked away in laid-back Cannaregio, the hotel provided the magic of Venice we were looking for. Nearby bàcari serve cicchetti (light bites) to local artisans and canal-sides buzz with drinkers lapping up the last rays of sun. We hear grumbles of Venice losing its allure, but this hotel left us completely under its spell. Highs A peaceful canal-side setting in authentic Cannaregio, where you're worlds away from the hordes of tourists and tat shops Stunning interior design flair all wrapped up in a 16th-century palace The peaceful shaded garden is a rarity in Venice. It’s blissfully quiet apart from the birds While the building is palatial the service is warm and very friendly The owners have remained true to the original palazzo layout, which means you get lots of communal space Lows No restaurant on-site, but there are lots of excellent options within a short stroll, and a snack menu at the bar It’s a bit of a hike (20 mins or water taxi) to the main sights, but if you're looking to explore hidden Venice it's a fine location No twin rooms While they accept children, all that precious art on display may invite little wandering hands" - Ben Reed

We Love Hotel Heureka! We stayed here in October for 3 nights. The whole staff was incredibly professional while still being warm and friendly. They helped with booking museum tickets, restaurant reservations and a complimentary trip to Murano on a private water taxi. The breakfast is delicious and the bartender is great and makes a tasty propriety spritzer. When looking on the map I was a little concerned the hotel wasn’t closer to all the action….trust me, this is a plus. It’s a 5 min walk to shops and restaurants. After a day of fighting crowds, walking down the quiet canal to the hotel is a welcome site. It feels like an oasis. The star of the show is the 16th century building that has been meticulously renovated. Not sure how I would describe the design, modern avant-guard while maintaining a connection with the 500 year old building. It’s cool and very unique. Overall a great stay and next time we are in Venice will definitely book again.

This was our second stay at the wonderful Hotel Heureka and I can't recommend it highly enough. A beautiful, boutique hotel in a peaceful location that feels like an oasis of calm after a busy day of sightseeing and the crowds of San Marco. ||The delicious and generous breakfast in the peaceful garden will set you up for the day. There's also a great selection of bacaro and restaurants a few minutes from the hotel and it's easily walkable to all the famous sights. ||But what makes a stay at Hotel Heureka so special is the amazing staff. They are all so genuinely kind and welcoming, especially Franco the head concierge, who apart from being one of the nicest people you will ever meet, is also a wealth of knowledge and will make your stay in Venice a truly memorable experience. And that is priceless indeed.

This was my second time staying at Hotel Heureka and this time i brought my parents and friends along to experience it, and once again it blew me away. ||The hotels locations is perfect, away from the crowds and gives you a look into what living in Venice is actually like. It still cacs excellent transport links with the Vaporetto from the airport and to all the sites of the city being located just behind the hotel. ||The hotel itself is like a museum in that every beautiful object has been carefully curated and considered to set exactly the right mood. I encourage you to visit each of the floors and parlours to see all the pieces of art and curated scenes they have created - truly beautiful. Lets not forget about the rooms which are all impeccably clean, unique and will inspire you to make bolder design choices at home. They are also very quiet, at no point did I ever hear another room, making you feel like the property was your home in Venice. ||Last but not least, every member of the team is exceptional (and not just exceptionally dressed!) going out of their way to make our stay special and memorable. Special mention to Franco who organised a fantastic lagoon tour by beautiful vintage boat and dinner for us at a wonderful restaurant - even recommending what we should order. ||I have been recommending this hotel to everyone since my first stay in 2022 and I will continue to do so and will certainly be going back.

We have stayed at hundreds of hotels around the world and nothing compares. Yes, the building if extraordinary but it does not compare to the staff of Franco, Andrea, Monica, Beata, Deanna, Alessandro, and the rest of the team that are so very professional yet personable who made us feel so well taken care of and welcome. We cannot thank you enough. The location of this fantastic place is in such a quiet area of Venice you would not know you at such a popular destination, yet there are many great restaurants within a 10 minute walk. The cooked to order breakfast each morning is something special to look forward to. The bar had a fine selection which includes their signature spritz which is a must try. Our stay was simply the best.

Searched for a great hotel away from the crowds and found this gem in the Cannaregio neighborhood. Loved the location north of the Grand Canal. Short walks to the city center and main attractions, but peaceful walks along the smaller canals with no crowds and far less noise. Andrea the hotel manager was excellent and Alex the bartender made the best aperol spritz with a Venetian twist. The entire staff was friendly and the hotel itself is beautiful. Make sure to spend your mornings or apertivo time in their garden. The only thing this hotel lacks is great views (from at least our room) but in a city like Venice you spend so little time in your hotel and you are out enjoying the city.

Hotel Heureka was by far our favorite hotel of our recent trip to Italy! A must-stay while you're in Venice. ||It is situated in a quieter neighborhood with a lot of fabulous restaurants and wine bars, so you can escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy a quiet evening. The location was a welcome respite after the crowds of San Marco. ||The whole staff is so welcoming, kind, and knowledgable - we took their advice on restaurants, wine bars, places to see in Murano and Burano, etc. They won't steer you wrong, we had an amazing time! ||The hotel itself is really cool and artsy. There are lounges inside to relax and the garden in the back was the best place to start the day with breakfast each morning. A very unique stay.

Wonderful hotel in beautiful and quiet Cannaregio. We are so happy we stayed in this part of Venice. Our room was small but worked fine. Everyone on the staff was so friendly and welcoming/helpful, especially the head concierge Franco who we can’t say enough about. We wish we could take him home with us. We flew nonstop from Atlanta straight into Venice and Franco arranged direct transfer to the hotel doorstep. Also when we were leaving for Florence he arranged direct transfer to the train station. Morning breakfast was delicious —double espresso cappuccinos and fresh croissants, scrambled eggs with mushrooms and fresh fruit. We hope to return to Venice and we would love to see all our new friends at this hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Heureka for 3 nights in August 2025 and had the most incredible time. Service: 12/10, A++. Very friendly and helpful staff. The concierges, Franco and Monica, went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time in Venice. Extremely proactive. Boat bookings, restaurant recommendations and reservations, etc. etc. Made our trip very memorable Room / Property: Clean and beautifully decorated. The garden is an oasis - tranquil, pedicured, a great place to relax Location: Away from the touristy hustle and bustle of Venice but convenient, charming, and <20 minute walk from everywhere Other: Breakfast was delicious. We got drinks from the bar once - great cocktail and wine list, reasonably priced
