Had a really great stay here, Xabi and Alba the owners were lovely and very hospitable. The hotel is extremely clean and really nicely done with it being set in a fantastic historic building, once in the rooms it is very quiet so had a great nights sleep. Also a short walk to all amenities in the town centre. The breakfast is great with a fresh and good quality selection. Would definitely stay again. Thank you so much!

Google
A perfectly situated hotel right in old city of Girona. I recommend calling the hotel prior to arrival to get assistance with parking as we drove up with the assistance of Google maps and were led down some very narrow streets. Breakfast was delicious. Family run hotel which has been beautifully remodeled. Highly recommend !!

Perfect location to walk around all of downtown Girona. Also just secluded enough to be away from all the noise. Easy to find since it’s very close to the basilica. Family owned and the owners were very welcoming and warm. They provided so much help to get around, reserve taxis, etc. The rooms are extremely clean and one of the most comfortable hotel beds i’ve slept on. I would stay here again

Lovely place to stay! Hotel is built on remains of ancient building 2000 years old according to the owner. Be preparad for a steep walk and getting lost in the castle streets. Unique location, spacious room, amazing hot tub. Great view from the rooftop. Family owned and the staff are very helpful. Wi-fi works great!Would satay again.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel arranged a taxi for us from the airport and it was very well organised, the taxi dropped us in the square nearby and directed us to walk a short way to the front of the hotel. I can imagine it’s difficult to find if driving yourself.|On arrival, we were let in the front door and walked to the front desk. There was a man and a woman, I believe to be the owners, and they didn’t even look up when we came in. They were silent as they checked us in and asked us to pay immediately. We needed WiFi to sort out our Monzo account, but they refused to let us use the WiFi in reception? We paid with a different card and they showed us to the lift to room 208, reminding us not to use the WiFi until we were in the room.|The room itself was spacious, the bed was big and comfortable, the balcony was small but looked over the front of the hotel where it was quiet. The bathroom was nice and had a modern shower. The room was cleaned daily which was great. I loved the decor in the room, keeping traditional aspects such as the stone walls and light shades but with modern twists to it.|Unfortunately, the couple didn’t really acknowledge our presence the whole time we were there, and whilst we didn’t talk to them a huge amount, when we did it seemed a little rushed and I never felt very welcome. There were never any suggestions or recommendations, or even a smile as we walked in and out. We asked for an umbrella once and this was refused immediately.|We can’t comment on breakfast as we didn’t eat here - we decided to try out the many fab places to eat in Girona instead. We were going to have breakfast on the day of our flight home however breakfast is 8:30-10:30am which seems late for hotel breakfasts, and meant we couldn’t fit it in before our taxi at 9am.|The location was perfect and very central to a lot of places, but up a lot of steps / hills so you would need to stay elsewhere if you had any mobility issues.|Overall, the stay was comfortable and clean but the staff were not as friendly or welcoming as I’m used to in a 4 star hotel. I would rate this 3 stars, as nothing major stood out to me.

A very gracious family hotel in a perfect location! This hotel is truly a labor of love for the family. The iron work is forged by a family member & each piece shows different Girona history & folklore. We were very comfortable & thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Historic. We had the breakfast & it was really delicious with fresh cooked eggs, along with everything else one could hope for. Don't miss the 4th floor seating area-great spot to watch the sunset over the cathedral.

We stayed here for 2 nights.|The hotel has a good location, near a lot of the tourist attractions.|We had a room with an outdoor seating area. This is a big bonus in a city hotel, however we didn't like the room,as the shower was awful.|The shower is over a whirl pool bath, and it sprays water everywhere.|It's also impossible to get the room dark at night.|The breakfast is adequate.|The owner is not particularly welcoming or friendly.

This hotel is located in a beautifully preserved historic building located up behind the cathedral in the old town. Our room was beautifully done but would have preferred a shower as was impossible to wash long hair without soaking the floor and definitely not a full glass door into the bathroom! The bed was so comfortable which was much needed after a hike uphill with luggage so get a taxi as no parking. The couple who run it are lovely and very helpful. We didnt opt for breakfast but it is on offer for 16 euros pp. A fridge in the room would be nice as there isnt a bar albeit there is a vending machine. All in all, despite the steep climb to this hotel, there is alot to love about it and enjoyed my return trip to Girona one of my fave Spanish cities.

Yelp
The best inner-old town hotel of Gerona situated next to the main church in the very heart of everything!! Fabulous rooms, fair priced! Don't miss it.... The owner manages the hotel as well; his name is Xavier!!

Yelp
This is a fantastic hotel built on the original stone foundation with tons of modern amenities. Situated in the heart of the old hilltop city center just a stones throw away from the cathedral and more importantly my cycling tour company. Xavier runs the place with his mother and attends to the cycling crowd. There's the primary hotel section (4floors) and an adjacent apartment. The rooms are tastefully decorated with lots of heating and extra comforters for it can get pretty chilly inside a building like this. They are working to expand the dinning area to support larger buffets for the peak seasons but I find the coziness my to my liking. They serve typical Catalian hot breakfast that are miles (sorry, kilometers) better than hotels I've stayed with in Barcelona. If you're staying in Girona, you can't go wrong with the Historic unless you hate walking up hill. This is a must for a memorable visit to this ancient city.

Yelp
My lady and I spent one night here in March of 2012 and wish it could have been a week...located in the Jewish quarter, with a Cathedral to the left of it and a Castle and the Arab Baths behind it the romantic aspect of it was incredible...The innkeeper who check us in was this sweet little lady who spoke very little English..What we did get from her as she gently caressed the stone wall in the lobby was that it has been in her family for 900 years. There was a light rain that evening and the cobble stone streets were glistening in the lamplight....the rooms were a mixture of ancient architecture and modern conveniences,"We stayed in the Flies room, the view was great, the bed comfortable...the only thing I would have like is a shower...it had a bathtub with a spraywand, BUT that was a very small sacrifice for such a nice place" . The staff was very helpful despite the language barrier. In other words if you want to send a VERY romantic week or weekend with that special person in your life then this is the perfect place to stay.the only reason I dont give it more stars is it only goes up to 5 ;-)
