Hotel Hohenstauffen

Family owned and run, it was more like an intimate bed and breakfast than a hotel! We had a spacious room for 2 and large bathroom. A lovely breakfast was included.

Great location. The hotel is near both train station and old town. They served great breakfast too! The family owners are very helpful and friendly, showing us where to eat for good Austrian dinner and how to walk to the old town. It’s home away from home. The antique in it relive our childhood memories. Will definitely recommend it to friends.

I had a pleasant stay here in late November 2024. The hotel itself is very quiet - I didn't hear street noise or from other rooms. It was very convenient to walk the train station and bus station, and an easy walk into the Old Town as well. Staff were friendly. I booked online and did need to pay a room tax in cash (3.50 euro for 2 nights) which was fine. I did not do the breakfast so can't comment on that (I'm never impressed by hotel breakfasts and prefer when traveling to get something out and about). The bed was quite hard, and only 1 pillow per bed (luckily I was given a double and used both pillows). Another quirk is the heavy door key which you give to reception when you come and go which is a little odd but no problem. I forgot to take a photo of my room - it did not seem to be as outdated or garish as some of the other photos. Maybe I got lucky or they've remodeled recently. All in all for the location it worked quite well and would recommend especially if on a budget.

Had a truly wonderful stay at Hotel Hohenstauffen which is definitely underrated and one of the better hotels in the area. Linda (the manager) was very friendly and welcoming, and saw to many things herself (e.g. serving drinks at breakfast). She also took care to accommodate us, such us by allowing us to leave our luggage after checking out, lending us a power adapter to use, filling our hot water flask. The room was very clean and had a nice quaint feel to it. Beds and bathroom were in good condition. The breakfast spread was also great and very good value at 6 Euro per person. Excellent location with the main train station just a few minutes away, and the main attractions in Salzburg were easily accessible. Good food options in the vicinity as well. Overall, Hotel Hohenstauffen was great value given the quality and convenient location. Would like to convey our gratitude to Linda for her hospitality and a fantastic stay!

Close to the central station, but this is the only advantage: Generally quite loud, maybe except for a few rooms. We were promised 'the quietest room', but were given one facing garbage collection every morning around 5-6am, loud enough to wake up even with windows closed in winter. Room quite big but plain, wannabe old-fashioned, no bin, no air conditioning, no kettle, quite cold, breakfast rather mediocre. Charged extra the ‘local tax’ which was not mentioned at all when booking directly via their website (explanation: “it is complicated”). Price-value suboptimal, avoid if closeness to the central station is not essential for you

Easy access from the train station. Linda could not have been more helpful. She gave us lots of useful information on directions to the Christmas Market with sights along the way. Charming and old World hotel. Convenient to every thing! Will stay again and spread the word to our traveling friends.

The staff are so helpful and good. Rooms are clean and cute. Breakfast is normal. Location of hotel is wonderful. It is close to train station and center. The price of a night is cheap according to other hotels in Salzburg.

Fantastic! Quiet stay in Salzburg - tons of history and charm in this establishment. Located a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A genuine hands-on approach (as opposed to chain hotels who sometimes don't seem to care about their guests). The staff is very welcoming, kind, and helpful. I will for sure stay here again if I'm back in Salzburg! Thank you for such a nice stay.

I stayed here for one night with a friend in late December 2018. Most hotels in the area seemed to be of the same quality (ie. on the older side). We got a twin bed room - the bed was extremely comfortable and I had one of the best sleeps of my trip. Street was quiet though I did keep the window closed. Bathroom was clean and relatively large. Wifi signal was strong. Breakfast included bread, cheese, meats, yogurts, juices and small pastries - more than I was expecting. Check-in was easy. Though hotel was on the older side, the bed and bathroom didn't feel that way. It was easy enough to walk from the Salzburg train station to the hotel, nearly impossible to get lost!

I stay here every time I'm in Salzburg and love it. They have a great breakfast and it's just a short walk from the train and center of Salzburg.
