Hotel Hospes Amérigo

We stayed 4 nights during the new year’s celebrations. The hotel is perfectly located walking distance to everything you will want to see and do. Our room was great, with street view and two balconies. It has an amazing sound proof system. We enjoyed the people watching and the holiday celebrations from the balconies. The staff in charge of bringing ice, cleaning the room, helping with bags and taxis, were all exceptional. The rooftop has an amazing view of the castle and we were able to enjoy it several nights even though it was closed (the bar) for the season. The only disappointment was that even though I was celebrating my birthday a few days into our stay (and the staff had been notified), it was not recognized by the check in team at all. We are titanium members and it is always something we expect, especially for this type of hotel. If we come back to Alicante, we will definitely stay at Hospes again.

Hospes Amérigo – A Perfect Blend of Elegance and Comfort What a cool yet elegant 5-star hotel in a fabulous location! The facilities are first-class, including excellent restaurants and a stylish rooftop bar. We stayed in a lovely, spacious room with a well-stocked minibar and a quality Nespresso coffee machine. The large bathroom was spotless, with great water pressure and premium amenities. Breakfast was outstanding, offering both freshly prepared dishes from the kitchen and a wonderful buffet selection. The hotel is just 300 meters from a beautiful beach and only 15 minutes from the airport — incredibly convenient. Every member of staff was attentive and welcoming, making our stay truly special. I can’t wait to go back — both for the hotel’s exceptional hospitality and everything that Alicante has to offer.

This was our second stay at Hotel Hospes Amerigo and once again, it did not disappoint. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the hotel is in a fantastic location - close to the beach, museums, and plenty of great restaurants. The family rooms are spacious and offer plenty of space for everyone, which made our stay very comfortable. The swimming pool has lovely views and a peaceful atmosphere, though a few of the jets were out of service this time, which our kids missed. Room service was excellent and there was just the right amount of attention throughout our stay. Breakfast has a fairly limited selection, but the service is highly attentive and there is a nice level of personalisation, which made it a great start to the day. We would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to returning again.

On arrival we were a little early for our room, but we were given a chilled glass of cava and they stored our bags for us. We returned at the check in time to be told that we had been upgraded to a deluxe room with a juliett balcony. The room was perfect with not only a rain shower but also a full size bath. Every day we were supplied with fresh towels and a bottle of drinking water. As we were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary, in the early evening a member of the hotel staff brought us a chilled bottle of cava. The whole of the hotel was spotless and the staff were friendly and always attentive with a special mention of Jennifer in the restaurant and at breakfast. We would also like to mention Ivan in the bar, who was chatty and knowledgeable. The location of this hotel is perfect for exploring Alicante with everything within walking distance. One minor disappointment was the choice at the breakfast buffet, whilst the food was fresh and of good quality, there was no variation in the choice for the whole week of our stay, even so we would have no reservations in recommending this hotel for a stay in Alicante

This was our fifth visit to the America hotel and once again our stay was absolutely perfect. From check in to departure we received absolutely first class service from the highly professional staff. We were greeted on arrival and offered a welcome drink and then taken to our room which was spacious, warm, very clean and just what we wanted. The breakfast service was again excellent with a great range of food options. Thank you to everyone and hopefully we’ll be back next year.

Quite pricey for Alicante but lovely room and fab roof top pool (heated) overlooking Santa Barbara castle. Minibar / fridge, kettle and coffeemaker, UK etc TV channels. Very nice staff (a special shout out to Cristina). Only thing missing for me was a bar. Apparently there's one up top but closed when we went. The cosy library would be perfect spot for one. Parking in basement tight but great to have one in such a central location. Would come back. 👍

The hotel is very comfortably furnished and located right in the center of Alicante. The rooms are spacious, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel features an intimate pool and an excellent rooftop with a stunning view of the castle. The Fondillon restaurant offers tasty food at reasonable prices. The breakfasts are varied and enjoyable. Highly recommended.

This was the absolute worst hotel I have visited in 21 years of submitting reviews to TripAdvisor. The fact that this property is ranked #1 in Alicante and has the temerity to call itself a 5 star is shocking.||At best this is a really bad 3 star hotel. ||The absolute worst aspect of this property is the Wifi which is terrible. Low bandwidth, no way to conduct a Zoom, constantly dropping, etc. Staff is aware of the issue and suggested I work from the library where “is better”. This at a supposed 5 star hotel! The front desk manager said there were Internet issues in the area but I was in town for meetings at an office 2 minutes away and they had never heard of them. Surprised I wasn't referred to an Internet Cafe! ||To be clear, if you are in town on business, a digital nomad or use the Internet, do not say at this hotel.||When we entered our room, their “best suite” were shocked to walk into the bathroom, ridiculous lack of privacy. Speaking of which, on a beautiful sunny afternoon all the blackout shades were drawn. When we opened them the reason why became readily apparent, the “view” (from their “best room”) was a decrepit office building mere feet away. Unless the blinds are drawn you have zero privacy. As a bonus in the alley 3 floors below are several dining establishment providing noise to add to the luxury experience.||Far worse, there are serious sanitary shortcomings. There were ants in our toilet area, sink area, bedding and mold in the shower right below the platform you stand on. The spa is tiny and overcrowded, gym has tired equipment and its shower also featured mold. One morning there was no hot water because the hallways ceiling was leaking from an area also covered in mold. The shelf in the shower was broken.||Truly staggering.||On a Sunday night at 8pm, the fire alarm went off once, than again a short while later. When we went to the front desk, we were told that it was a “test”. With no warning or explanation to guests!||We had to go to the front desk because the phone only worked if you dialed a 4 digit number that nobody explained to us and all of its instructions were in Spanish (for a hotel with large number of English speaking guests).||Can’t speak to the quality of the food other that the one ice cold room service breakfast we had, which was included in our rate (but the front desk attempted to upsell as an upgrade on check in).||As a final service failure, we made the mistake of having laundry done here. One brand new shirt was completely ruined and the rest of the items were so saturated with fragrance that they had to be thrown out after we washed them again, $650 worth of nearly brand new Lululemon destroyed, our nice Tumi luggage still reeks.||On departure they waived the laundry charge for destroying our clothes….||This place was so bad that we checked out a day early and they comped one night, but that was only about half of the cost of our clothes their laundry ruined.||The fact this property is so highly rate makes me question the trust I have put in TripAdvisor, something is not right here. Just do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else; would not stay again if I was paid to do so.

One of only a handful of 5 star hotels in Alicante, this exemplary property is right in the action. Surrounded by a plethora of outstanding bars, nightclubs and eateries festering local favorites, tapas, middle eastern, Indian, Chinese, Japanese and Thai food. The marina across the main road makes for a lovely stroll in the evenings. Even the happening Marmarela and Ocean Race Museum is just 10 minute walk away. Smartly designed rooms with old world architectural accents throughout juxtaposed with modern practicality and efficiency. Exemplary hospitality staff who go out of their way to care well for you. Stunning view of the "face of the moor" castle from the rooftop pool and bar.

This was a great choice to stay a night or two in Alicante. It was very charming and cute - our room had lovely balconies that you could step out of and see the street, and buildings across! The location was quite nice, walking distance pretty much everywhere, including restaurants, and even the beach in Alicante. It had a nice rooftop pool (pictures really don't do it justice) with a VIEW of the cathedral and mountain!!! Not only that, but it had a retractable ceiling, which was pretty awesome. There were lots of lounge chairs, both inside the pool area, and outside on the regular balcony, with a bar too. Although the room was very charming, there were some details I wasn't too fond of. The bed for instance was too soft, and made my back hurt. The air conditioning didn't work, but we were fine with open windows (good breeze at night). The mini fridge was full of items, so we weren't able to place our own personal items in the fridge. Also, the sinks & shower all had trouble draining. Lastly, just FYI, on Sundays Alicante has slow streets, where cars cannot drive through. The hotel is located on one of these slow streets - I wish they gave us a heads up ahead of time, as we kept driving and driving around. I wish they told us that we could have asked the police officers to move the railings for us to get to our hotel. Overall though, I did enjoy the hotel, and it was perfect for our 1 night stay in Alicante!

By far the best hotel in Alicante. Yes, it's a little pricey but the spa, roof top pool and restaurant make up for it. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and Jonas really made our time worthwhile. The rooms are luxurious and are very well kept. We had a marina view which was lovely. Our only issue was the air freshener in the lobby. It wasn't pleasant and very over powering.

Fantastic facility with a phenomenal staff that close to beaches, dinning, the marina, the casino, and the old fort. The views aren't great, and this is true for pretty much every place that isn't beach front. With that said, a great spot to lay your head and expect lore Alicante.

Alicante's #1 on tripadvisor.com would probably be the best reason to book this place. The hotel is a beautiful building, well located in the midst of all the action, couple of minutes away from all the best restaurants and a short walk away from the beach. There are fabulous restaurants in the area, and the little cava bar in the hotel is pretty damn good too. The rooms are super stylish. Of course, this is no Hyatt or Mandarin Oriental, although it is supposed to be a five star hotel. An electric kettle is not available in the room, although it is provided on request. There is a gym and a pool on one of the floors, which has an attached terrace/balcony overlooking the beach. However, the gym is not the best thing about the hotel. Breakfast was included in the cost of the room, and although somewhat basic, it was fresh and felt quite fulfilling. Overall, highly recommended!

Older building but huge rooms. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Perfect location to explore the city, walk the beach, and see the historical sights. Would definitely stay here again. Roof top bar is also nice even though there are not any real views.

I stayed at Amerigo in May 2015 with my husband and parents. The staff is extremely well trained in 5 star service. We were provided excellent service at every turn. The front desk staff called and arranged a private tennis lesson for my husband. They made several great restaurant recommendations. Rooms are very large and well appointed. The building is beautiful old stone with modern finishes. Close to the beach. Excellent value for the money.

Love this hotel. For a 5 star hotel the rooms are incredibly well priced. We stayed a couple nights in a junior suite and a couple of nights in a standard room. Both were excellent. The hotel is situated in an ideal spot, right between the beach and the old town. Best of all is the staff, who are really helpful and friendly. We got a lovely welcome by name every time we walked into the reception which made us really feel pleased to be staying there. We didn't try the michelin starred restaurant this time but there is also a more casual restaurant where the tapas are imaginative and delicious. Already planning my next trip.
