For the price this small hotel is a great deal. The location is fantastic, it is close to everything you may want. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The breakfast is just enough food and delicious. The coffee machine in the lobby I want to take home. The rooms are clean, nice hot water, AC, WiFi, Cable TV all stations, small fridge all good.

The hotel is not very clean. There were cockroaches hanging in the room. I woke up one day and no water was available. Sometimes hot water was not working. Breakfast is very limited. I think the hotel has a good potencial but need maintenance and better cleaners. In the other hand, personal was nice and helpful. And the bed was comfortable.

Nothing special about this place. I visited with my daughter and husband and had requested a king size online but was given a queen. The reception advised they didn't have any king size beds until the next day. We signed up for breakfast included but when the day came we were given 1 voucher because their policy is 1 breakfast per room and we needed 2. We stayed here 2 nights and each morning we woke up to a flat tire. ||The staff is nice but they have a very non caring attitude. More like a take it or leave it attitude. At the end we couldn't wait to leave. ||The area is ok but I would not recommend it if you don't look like a local because you will stand out a lot, specially if you are a woman. It's not very safe at night for walking. There is a restaurant 1 block away that I recommend because is good and cheap.

Great place to stay. My husband and I stayed here two nights for business/ visiting friends. We had a vehicle and parked it in front of the hotel. If you are taking public transportation there are many close options. We were on second floor. Safe in room. Big closet. Air conditioner worked great and didn't make noise. Wifi fast and works in room. Small fridge also in room stocked with water, soda, juice and beer (for extra charge). Nice sized bathroom with HOT water! Breakfast incluided (grab a voucher from reception and take to connecting restaurant). They have 4 or so options to pick from. I was happy to see a healthy option (fruit bowl). Best natural juice ever also incluided. I felt very safe at this hostal. Room might be a little small for some but it worked fine for us. Location also worked great (malecon, zona colonial, etc. close). If you want a "party" hotel this not for you. We had a nice, quiet and safe stay for about $44 a night (tax/breakfast incluided). I will be back!

Advertisement was better on the eyes than the actual way the rooms looked in person.. I found a few bugs in my chicken soup from the cafeteria/ restaurant which I was told to look at as "extra meat" which wasn't what I was expecting to hear. They didn't do anything to make up for that but I figured it's a poor country so just let it go. The service over all is very cold and the people are very judgemental with their guest, but one of the workers did his best to help me out which I'm grateful for. Stood for over a week so had to make the best out of it. Sometimes it's best not to expect the best from people.

I'll just list pros and cons of this hotel, I stayed there for a total of four weeks on two different trips this summer. ||||Pros:||Price 40$-60$||Location, a block from the malecon||very clean (though i did catch a bug or two but you got to shrug that off as just being in DR)||||Cons:||You cannot prepay for a booking, and I'm sure paying by card incurs higher fees.||Though all staff are competent are pleasant enough some of the receptionists at night and day are not the most enthusiastic, a smile anyone?||||Overall this has the best bang for your buck in Santo Domingo cheaper standard rooms are obviously on the small side but if you are used to european and especially london hotels you'll be just fine. ||||You even get complimentary soaps and shower gel, though i'd suggest you buy your own. As a last note though the ladies that work as housekeeping for the hotel are probably the nicest at the hotel (I'd left my safe unlocked one day and everything was accounted for, they could have easily stolen some notes and acted clueless) you need to often specify you want extra towels or new pillow cases and such. Somehow pillow cases seem to smell at every hotel in Santo Domingo but anyway be prepared for that and pack your own pillow or pillow case if you can. ||||Anyway it's aways easier to remember the small bad things than the good, I'd definitely stay here again if only they would accept prepaid bookings online.

Hostel has an empty plot on one side and a massive construction site on the other. On the first morning they were smashing at the wall of the empty plot beside my room. I changed to a room on the other side of the hotel. The next morning a huge digger began at 8 AM until 6 pm, and it was impossible to stay in the room at all with the incredible noise ! This will continue for a long time, as this construction site just began work on 04/03/16 ! Another room that they wanted to change me to had a totally broken safe. ||||The bathroom sink surface in 2 rooms I stayed in was not level, therefore any spilt water flows over side of the surface and constantly drips onto the floor. Annoying and dangerous for slipping. Had cheapest toilet roll you can buy, which was impossible to break properly at all. In first room I stayed in, Aircon unit dripped on my head, so had to turn off and tried to sleep in a hot room. Girl at reception did not even know about the construction, or which room faced where !||||The hotel had 2 taxi drivers who sat outside. one was OK, however the other (with a light brown Nissan saloon) should be avoided. He takes strange routes and is not honest. For example I asked him if he had change for 500 peso for a 250 peso ride, he said yes. But when we got there, he said he only had 100 peso notes Therefore he did not have correct change and was not honest !
