I’ve stayed at Hurricane Hotel many times over the years, and I used to love it – especially back when it was a simple two-star hotel. Back then, the value was excellent and the atmosphere felt warm and genuine.
Sadly, since the upgrade to four stars, the experience has gone downhill. Expectations rise with the rating, but the hotel no longer meets even my modest expectations. Service feels understaffed and inconsistent, and it’s not enough to just raise the prices and update a few things in the rooms.
A special mention to Susanna at reception – she’s amazing and always goes the extra mile for guests. But one person alone can’t carry the weight of a four-star hotel. Management should really visit a proper four-star hotel like Parador in Ronda or Ayamonte to see how it’s done – even simple things like having two staff members at reception at all times make a huge difference.
Do NOT book the hamam. It’s poorly maintained and absolutely not worth the money – more like a damp room with some steam.
This place still has great potential because of its location and history. I’m sharing this review with genuine hope that the owners take it to heart and bring back the quality and soul that once made Hurricane so special.
