Hótel Hvolsvöllur

Hotel is along a side road but not too noisy. There is an outdoor hot tub which close at 10pm.Room size is reasonable, bed is a bit soft but its comfortable. The breakfast is hot and good.A good location for stopover.

Pretty good stay with nice spacious rooms. There is a selection of egg, beans and breads for breakfast however evening meals where slightly disappointing. Nice spacious hallways and bathrooms good for large groups room keys included with each room overall a pleasant stay.

The floor in my room has a terrible smell, everytime i re-enter my room I am overwhelmed by the stench. The food was not up to standard: hair in food, chicken raw!!! I left my room unlocked with the key inside, workers came in, didn't clean (even though we put up the sign) and locked our key in our room!! Shower had no space and bath was shaped peculiarly so washing was incredibly difficult, bathrooms flooded by the shower. Fire alarm drill at 4.56AM. Does not look like the photos. However, beds were comfortable and hot tubs were nice.

There were some minor issues with the room, but nothing big and nothing that the hotel wouldn't offer to fix. Everyone working there was very pleasant, and the rooms are nicely sized compared to others we've seen.

Never come to this hotel ,the female person in the reception, is very very rude behavior, bad temperament, never help to anything ,she behaved like a heroin , bad hotel ,rooms ,bad ,everything is bad ,breakfast not good ,bad ,location bad , We stayed on 26/3-27/03/2025. But very very bad experience, I went two times in Iceland ,but never seen like this bad female receptionist.

We stayed here on our last night in Iceland. The rooms are albeit old, I believe it is decent for a night stay. I was with 5 other people, 3 people in one room. The staffs were helpful and answered most of our questions. The best thing about this property is that you can see northern lights right above the hotel. It was amazing. The front desk has info about northern lights, we went to the church to view it. It is also close to the major waterfalls. The location is close enough to the airport if you are driving back to Keflavik/Reykjavik and have an evening flight back. The breakfast is good and they have on-site restaurant which closes at 9 pm. Overall, a pleasant stay.

I’ve never been so utterly disgusted with MANY THINGS! For example the staff were incredibly rude! Also, the food was DISAPPOINTING AND INEDIBLE! The chicken had a hair. ||The rooms, they do not change your sheet, and may not take dirty cups. 🤮

Probably the best restaurant you can choose for a dinner around during your stay. We wanted to try some Icelandic cuisine and it surely met our expectations. We had grilled whale for the appetizer, then the lamb rack and a tuna steak served with sesame and soy sauce. A pavlova for dessert. All was served beautifully and tasted great, the service was excellent and very friendly. Definitely worth the price.
