Hotel i Dammusi di Borgo Cala Creta (Lampedusa, Sicily) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Stepping into Villaggio Albergo i Dammusi di Borgo Cala Creta feels like slipping quietly into another time. Scattered gently across Lampedusa’s windswept landscape, these traditional stone cottages (dammusi), built in classic Arab-influenced style, stand with white domes, dry-stone walls, and slender windows. Life here moves softly, from shaded patios to private gardens; guests sip coffee, explore the on-site art gallery, or wander toward the turquoise shallows of Guitgia Cove. It is tranquil, understated, and perfectly matched to an island that remains refreshingly untouched." - Tablet Hotels

I came here to do smart working and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Ended up having breakfast a couple of times, the room is quiet and the WiFi works well. I had such a good experience that I wish to come back and stay at their rooms! Thank you so much

I stayed here recently for work. The accommodation is stunning and very comfortable. The hotel staff were incredibly accommodating. We were also very well fed on the one evening we ate in the hotel restaurant. Unfortunately there was a very long wait for the food, to the extent that one of our partners cancelled due to tiredness. The restaurant was not busy. I really liked the plastic-free toiletries in the bathroom and I really wish more hotels around the world had this initiative. Overall a wonderful place to be.

This hotel is a gem. It is clean, sustainable and elegantly decorated. The entire team especially Giovanna was kind and very accommodating. The food was great and the Wi-Fi worked amazingly for those who have to work. We loved it! I highly recommend it. It’s close to everything - beautiful beach and downtown.

The location is very authentic with the dammusi houses. It is a very safe and quiet area and close to the natural beach Cala creta. The hotel offered many extra services such as transfers, boat trip, scooter rental. The staff was very friendly and helpful! Thanks to Andrea we visited a nice restaurant and he gave us advice about the island. When you go to Lampedusa this is the perfect place to stay.

We stayed 8 nights at the Dammusi di Borgo Calacreta. On the day of arrival our flight was delayed in Palermo and arrived in Lampedusa very late. Upon checking in Maria made sure we had dinner and arranged a table for us at a nearby pizzeria (walking distance from the hotel serving excellent wood fired pizza and seafood). The hotel is so charming and very reminscent of the cottages you see in Santorini. We had a fantastic, clean room, great bed and bathroom and a patio where we would sit and have drinks. From the patio we had a small view of the water but to be honest, you dont need a sea view since you are out on the water all day long. The entire hotel staff was so gracious and was happy to help us out with questions about the island. They even set us up with a scooter to drive around the island. As the previous reviewer mentioned, Cala Creta is definitely the best part of the island. This area felt less crowded and commercialized than other parts of the island. There are small houses and a few stone cottage hotels in the area. We had a great lunch at the nearby restaurant that overlooks the water. Originally I tried contacting another hotel via email (in perfect and proper Italian) in the area that includes all meals and boat rides around the island. Looking back now, I am glad they never responded to my numerous requests for a room. Staying at the Dammusi di Borgo CC was far better. We had a chance to experience some fantastic restaurants on the island (La Perla, Gemmeli and the fish restaurant on the end of via Roma that displays their fish). If you have experience driving boats then renting a boat is the way to go. Its was the highlight of the vacation. The beaches are gorgeous on the island but in July they were too crowded for our taste. So if you want to escape the crowds, the boat is the way to go. There are also private and group charters as well for those who prefer leaving the driving to someone else. One note to mention, for those of you who dont speak Italian.... you may find it difficult to communicate as there are very few english speakers on the island. Everyone is absolutely friendly and welcoming but it does help tremendously if you are able to speak at the very least conversational Italian. Lampedusa is a fantastic island if you are looking for a gorgeous sea and fresh seafood.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed in the Dammusi di Cala Creta and we loved the experience!||The hotel is in a stunning location on the island of Lampedusa (Cala Creta). We are very frequent travelers with an acquired experience. What made the difference in the Dammusi di Calacreta is the staff. Stunning service and willingness to arrange our stay. All of them are amazing. Our favorite was Giovanna at the reception. When you see employees with a smile (even the cleaning ladies who did an impeccable job) this is the sign, they feel at ease working there. Everything worked fine since our arrival where we were picked up at the nearby airport. We liked the fact that everyone is accessible and ready to help even the responsible person for this hotel. Danilo, at breakfast time was super kind and chatty Carlo very entertaining when it came to help us set services around the island. We also tried their Tunisian dinner. Food was really good. The dammuso is the traditional house on the island. We loved ours, as it was cosy and well organized. It was a few steps away from Cala Creta where you can enjoy swimming in a stunning natural scenery. Bravissimi! To end, we also appreciated that the staff is gay friendly. We really felt at home with them! ||||Giuseppe Bellia

This is not a luxury nor fancy hotel but more authentic accommodation (it’s Lampedusa - a cute island with sunshine/ beaches, everything SIMPLE but beautiful!!). I love the small patio where we can have some chilling time with wine & cheese, sunshine and partly the sea before dinner. ||People there are very friendly, warm welcoming and you would just miss them loads when checking out. We do not speak Italian and some of them might not speak full English but they still tried their very best to use the body language to talk to you, not only about the info but also chitchatting! ||Thanks again for the team Dano, Ezio, Joanna, Victoria, Franca, Antonio and many more. You guys are excellent people and made my experience in Lampedusa a truly lifelong & unforgettable one!|

I've wanted to visit Lampedusa ever since I saw the film Respiro. Staying at Hotel i Dammusi Di Borgo Cala Creta did not disappoint - it is higher priced accommodations, but entirely worth it. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, pick-up and drop-off at the airport and in-town, gorgeous sea-views and clean, simple rooms. We stayed in a dammusi and enjoyed watermelon slices at noon. If you want to vacation like an Italian and enjoy simple life and relaxation, book here... :o)
