I would like to start by saying that this hotel was very reasonably priced (booked through easyJet), and the pool facilities were lovely. The rooms were a good size too, which was appreciated.
Our Spanish is not the best, so we understand that some things may have been lost in translation. That said, I do not believe this hotel deserves its four star rating. The hotel felt quite tired and was noticeably dirty in places, with stained carpets and marked walls.
Our room was very dusty and not clean at all. The door frame was coming away from the wall, and the walls were paper thin. I dropped something under the chair and found that the floor underneath was filthy. There was also no kettle, mugs or coffee in the room, which felt like a basic thing to miss.
Breakfast was as expected and the selection was good, well stocked and ran smoothly. However, the atmosphere at dinner was extremely uncomfortable.
We saw people waiting in the corridor for around 15 minutes (to pay or to be seated) while several tables sat empty, with waiters walking past us and tending to places where no one was seated.
When people were finally acknowledged l, we once said that we were a group of five (which was part of our booking), the waiter huffed and said, “this should be fine.” We were then shown to a table with only two chairs and had to pull up the other three chairs ourselves.
We ordered a sangria at 10.15pm and by 10.51pm it still had not arrived. We had already been served our main courses but still had no drinks, so we ended up leaving early that evening.
When my friend went to the bar to ask for a drink instead, she was told quite aggressively to sit down, which felt really unnecessary. Staff did not appear to be rushed off their feet – in fact, they spent more time chatting with each other than actually serving guests.
Our vegetarian friend found a piece of bacon in her pesto pasta. The dinner setup was also quite confusing. Nothing was explained clearly, the menu was poorly laid out, and we struggled to communicate with the staff about how things worked.
One particularly unpleasant moment was when we saw a waiter applying cream to something on his lip right next to the food station during breakfast. That really put us off.
On a more positive note, check in was smooth and the reception staff were genuinely helpful and kind.
