This quiet family run hotel stole our heart while in Assisi. Very welcoming and the best view you could ask for from their very large garden terrace overlooking the Umbrian countryside. Hearty breakfast served each morning to easily hold you over until lunch. The rooms are simple but comfortable and ours had a balcony overlooking Assisi and the countryside. I highly recommend this quaint family run gem!

Rooms were small and bathroom even smaller. They did a good enough job at keeping the rooms clean. The location and views are phenomenal. Besides that the stay there was terrible. Started off about 2 weeks before our trip. The manager kept bombarding the family with calls about switching a room. We booked the apartment and the manager kept calling trying to get us to switch it stating that “it was 200 meters away and didn’t include breakfast”. Finally the family got annoyed by the constant calls and allowed the switch. Big mistake. They charged 25 extra euro a day for the breakfast. 95% of which my wife couldn’t eat due to a gluten allergy. Also the breakfast was most certainly not worth 25 euro. You could go into town and get a similar breakfast for less than 10-15 euro. Then when we went to checkout they said we still owed 500+ euro. After getting a complete breakdown of the costs it actually came out to 100-110 extra. Not sure where the 500+ came from. The manager that checked us in was rude and yelling, and was just as rude to the travel agent that had to email back and forth with him. She even offered to pay the extra fees out of her own pocket and said that she would never recommend the hotel to her clients again. Overall a very lackluster stay. The town was beautiful, the food in Assisi was excellent and while the views were beautiful at the hotel, the staff and service were not. If I were other Americans planning a trip to Assisi, I would stay away from this hotel. Also following up with other reports/reviews of money being stolen out of the room, we didn’t get any money or anything stolen but definitely noticed that our bags had been rummaged through. Stay here at your own risk.

This is a beautiful family-run hotel just outside the Assisi Old Town. Wonderful for walks into the city and absolutely quiet and away from the crowds. The views from our second-floor balcony were incredible. The service here was extremely friendly, with an amazing breakfast. Thank you to the entire family from us! We will be back.

I can highly recommend you to stay in this lovely hotel. I had a wonderful room at the end of the garden, amazing views, space and cleanliness. Such a peaceful place with overlooking gardens and the beautiful town of Assisi. I thought the breakfast was amazing. Perfect

Beautiful boutique hotel in fantastic location. This hotel had amazing views, super clean, good value for money fantastic customer service and enabled my wife and I time to really relax in between Florence and Rome for 4 nights. Hard to fault this hotel. We will stay at this hotel again.

We can’t say enough good things about Hotel Ideale in Assisi. The location is amazing overlooking Assisi and the Umbrian Valley. Our room had a balcony that took full advantage of the beautiful view. The hotel is small and well maintained; our room was small but efficient. Although you have the ambiance of an older property, the rooms, bathrooms and common areas reflect a recent and tasteful updating. Most importantly, the hotel is run by a family who has your comfort as their highest priority. All the members of the family are very friendly, and the attention to your comfort is evidenced by the wonderful breakfast served each morning. Hotel Ideale is a perfect place to stay in Assisi, and we would visit the hotel if our travels take us here again.

This is a wonderful hotel with amazing views and friendly staff and great breakfast. Also good location. But someone on the staff has sticky fingers. 100 euros went missing from a bag left in the room. The cash wasn’t in a safe so I didn’t report it and at first I thought I had misplaced it. But after searching everywhere and reading similar reviews where the exact same amount of cash disappeared from other guests, I’m sorry to say I think someone on the staff did it. We also noticed one evening while we were having a drink in the courtyard, the lights in our room went off. We thought they may have been on a timer but they came back on a few minutes later. Very strange.

Hotel Assisi is a gorgeous family owned and run hotel. The pride of ownership is evident. The staff are friendly family members. The views of the rooms facing the valley are highly recommended for sunsets and all day observing. The outdoor patios areas also offer spectacular scenic views of the valley and are accessible to all guests. The rooms are on the smaller side with tight box-style showers only. Breakfast is served with diverse food options but limited in variety. The location is just outside the old city to be away from the crowd noise and close enough for walking anywhere in the city. The price is reasonable and representative for the quality. Best of all are the hard working family members and their dedication to treating guests properly and professionally. They really value their guests.

Yelp
PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING!! My wife and I stayed at Hotel Ideale in Assisi for 2 nights in June 2024 and believe that the family that owns the hotel is breaking into the room safe and stealing money/valuables from guests! The first time we came back and found the safe open there was maybe a small chance we forgot to lock it but then the 2nd day both my wife and I made 100% sure we locked it only to find it opened again when we got back to the room and $100 was taken from my wifes wallet! The owner said they have the only key so there is only 1 person who could have opened it. PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE AND IF YOU DO, DO NOT PUT ANYTHING IN THE ROOM SAFE! Please also like this so it will be at the top for anyone looking at reviews.

Yelp
One of the best places i have ever stayed at. What a view of Assisi. What a great service. Everyone is super friendly. Seems like a family business. Our room was clean and great size with a balcony overlooking the whole town. Our reservation included breakfast too and it was sooo good. 100% staying here again and maybe longer than 2 nights.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing stay at this lovely bed and breakfast. The room was clean and well kept and the views spectacular. The manager, Marco, was kind and attentive, and the owners are truly lovely people. The food was incredible and made fresh from local produce. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely repeat.

Yelp
We have been an avid travelers for 40 years and have stayed in everything for hostels to 5 star hotels. Never in all these years have I been treated so poorly,. The owners are horrible people and do not care about customer service or doing the right thing. They stole from an 80 year old lady and DO NOT CARE. We don't know why Rick Steve's would recommend a place with such nasty owners. We will be campaigning for this hotel to be removed from his travel guide and advise all Americans to stay away from these RIPOFF Artists. They know you will probably not return - so they do not care how they treat you. CHECK ALL THE REVIEWS ON THIS SITES AND OTHER SITES AND YOU WILL SEE WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES WITH THIS EXPERIENCE. STAY AWAY,. THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER CHOICES. WE DO NOT THINK THIS HOTEL IS A GOOD REPRESENTATION OF ITALIAN PEOPLE .

Yelp
We stayed there several years ago and by far it was the best value of all the hotels we stayed at. The view was incredible and the free continental breakfast was prepared by the owner's mother, who baked all the goodies. The rooms all have rustic charm. We felt most welcome there. It was closer to the "real" Italy than the touristy hotels in Rome, etc. Hard to find especially if you don't have a car.

Yelp
What a great B&B! Breakfast was very nice with meats, fruit, cakes and, of course, caffe. They have a beautiful overlook of Umbra and is central to Assisi. I would stay her again! English is spoken, but not by all. But, they do have their own parking, which is great.

Yelp
A most difficult review to write. Hotel Ideale has a great location in Assisi. Located at the crest of a hill, some of the rooms have spectacular views of the valley. Managed by Dino the hotel is clean, quiet and well operated. Breakfasts in a room off the lobby were some of the best we had in Italy. I really could go on and on regarding the positives. Now here's the downside. For reasons I do not understand, Dino chooses to like some guests but not others. Dino would be welcoming to most other guests but would scowl and appear annoyed when I was present. Even my wife said Dino's behavior made her feel uncomfortable. I don't understand the behavior as I had the utmost respect for Dino, his energy, attention to detail and passion for the hotel. Sure there are cultural and language barriers. Regardless of differences, it is inexcusable for paying guests not to be treated with respect. Hotel Ideale is a good place to stay if staff chooses to welcome you.
