Hotel Il Belvedere Matera

Perfect spot for Matera with a stunning roof terrace view over the city. Our room in the grotto was very spacious and clean. Nice and cool even without Aircon on the very hot days. Staff were all very welcoming and friendly and helped with recommendations for restaurants, which were excellent (especially Soul Kitchen). Free parking was available nearby. Delicious continental breakfast each morning with lots of options. We will definitely be back.

The hotel is easy to get to with parking close by. We preordered the prosecco and local charcuterie board and enjoyed the view under their shaded patio. Out room was ready early and pre- cooled and very clean. All of the employees were kind and the breakfast was varied and delicious. We enjoyed walking around the city. It was a nice stopover on our way to Lecce.

My stay at the Hotel was exceptional. The room was not only spotless and well-appointed, but also offered a stunning view. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every need was met, from quick check-in to helpful recommendations for local attractions. The amenities, like the pool and gym, were top-notch. I especially enjoyed the delicious breakfast buffet. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for comfort and convenience.

Absolutely wonderful! We were fortunate to stay in the junior suite. It was the most beautiful room. Stunning! The view from the deck is specular.a perfect place for a drink in the evening and delicious breakfast in the morning. The staff were all charming and as helpful as could be. A fantastic experience.

Great hotel, perfect location, stunning view. We didn’t stay in a cave room and were glad as it was a chilly night and it was nice to have a large, bright room. Good buffet breakfast that can be eaten on the terrace. There is a back gate that puts you on the path down to all the sights in the Sassi. As you near the hotel the parking garage is on your left. I recommend parking and wheeling your bags the few yards to the hotel on your right. If you pull up outside the hotel to unload your bags you will then have to drive around the one-way system to return to the garage.

We had a fabulous 2 night stay here in April. Junior Suite 47 is a phenomenal room- spacious, quirky (you're in a cave), and very well equipped. The shower was so big!! A comfortable bed. The complimentary bottle of wine and minibar was a very generous touch!!! The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet had a good choice of options; pastries, cereal, fresh bed, fresh fruit, juices, yoghurt, cold cuts & cheese - there was a lovely breakfast foccacia too. What a breathtaking view over the ravine from the hotel terrace and right outside your bedroom door!! Only a short walk to the restaurants, bars, rock churches (as it sounds.....churches carved into the rock). It's lovely to see the lights of the old town go on from the hotel terrace (as the picture shows). We loved this hotel as the perfect base from where you can explore the town of Matera. It is worth staying overnight in the old town so you can enjoy the ambience after the day tour groups have left. We will definitely be back to this hotel.

This was a gem! Simone was exceptionally welcoming and helpful. We savored our breakfast while sitting outside on the terrace, admiring the amazing views. We also read and enjoyed a drink on the terrace in the afternoon. Our room was spacious, spotless, comfortable and full of history. It was a memorable and unique stay.

This was one of the best hotels in which I’ve ever stayed! Location and service were fantastic! Our cave room, the junior suite, was extraordinary and very spacious and unlike any room we’ve stayed at throughout our travels to Europe and Asia. Views from the breakfast terrace are best in world. Seriously. This is a family-run business which takes great pride in a hotel that they’ve designed and built. Highly, highly recommend! 10/10!!
