Hotel Il Belvedere Matera

Authentic cave hotel experience with stunning views across the city of Matera. Attention to detail was evident throughout our short stay. Evening drinks on the terrace was one of the many highlights of our stay. Highly recommend. The only downside was that we should have stayed for more nights in this beautiful place. Staff were excellent and very helpful.

Perfect spot for Matera with a stunning roof terrace view over the city. Our room in the grotto was very spacious and clean. Nice and cool even without Aircon on the very hot days. Staff were all very welcoming and friendly and helped with recommendations for restaurants, which were excellent (especially Soul Kitchen). Free parking was available nearby. Delicious continental breakfast each morning with lots of options. We will definitely be back.

A Perfect Stay in Matera||The hotel is perfectly situated right at the start of the tourist route that circles the city, with a parking garage just 100 meters away—making it ideal for exploring the Sassi.||The room we stayed in was absolutely beautiful and incredibly spacious. It remained pleasantly cool even in 30+ degree weather—we didn’t even need to use the air conditioning.||All of the staff were courteous, helpful, and genuinely friendly.||The view of the Sassi from the terrace is likely one of the best in all of Matera. One of our favorite evenings was simply sitting out on the terrace with a glass of wine and some snacks, soaking in the stunning view after a long, hot day of exploring.||Breakfast was very nice—simple but typical of many Italian hotels. The staff were happy to make a delicious coffee of your choice.||If we ever return to this amazing city, we will definitely stay here again.

My stay at the Hotel was exceptional. The room was not only spotless and well-appointed, but also offered a stunning view. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every need was met, from quick check-in to helpful recommendations for local attractions. The amenities, like the pool and gym, were top-notch. I especially enjoyed the delicious breakfast buffet. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for comfort and convenience.

A friend had recommended this property which we ultimately selected over some of our travel agent's suggestions based on value. Il Belvedere did not disappoint. Our room (not a cave room) was spacious and had a wooden ceiling. The staff is extremely friendly and the location is convenient for exploring the Sassi on foot. You will never tire of the amazing view from the terrace. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast there each morning, afternoon aperitifs, and nighttime views of the centro storico lit up.

Great location, easy walk to everything. Apartments very clean and good size only minor comment the bed frames where quiet old - but maybe intended as part of the charm in one of the apartments we had. |Common balcony area for breakfast or a drink provided a great view of the sissi. |Hotel also book Vito tuk tuk tours which was great way to orientate ourselves.

Absolutely wonderful! We were fortunate to stay in the junior suite. It was the most beautiful room. Stunning! The view from the deck is specular.a perfect place for a drink in the evening and delicious breakfast in the morning. The staff were all charming and as helpful as could be. A fantastic experience.

The hotel is easy to get to with parking close by. We preordered the prosecco and local charcuterie board and enjoyed the view under their shaded patio. Out room was ready early and pre- cooled and very clean. All of the employees were kind and the breakfast was varied and delicious. We enjoyed walking around the city. It was a nice stopover on our way to Lecce.
