Hotel Il Belvedere Matera

What a wonderful experience staying at this hotel. We were greeted by Simone' who welcomed us to his beautiful property. Great communication from booking to arrival and helping us find convenient parking very close by. We stayed in room 201 - superior with a small patio terrace on the ground floor. Our cave room was very clean, spacious and classy. Hotel has a beautiful terrace overlooking the sassi and just a few short 3–5-minute walk to restaurants into old town, highly recommend a stay here and would return again in a heartbeat! Breakfast included was a nice bonus.

The Junior Suite—Caves was amazing. Compared to typical tiny, tiny typical European rooms, this one was 2-3 times the size of rooms we’ve stayed. The room is a cave that people actually lived in but, with all the appropriate updates. It has a private gated entry. The view outside the gate is amazing—overlooking Sassi Caveoso—the oldest section of the city. Staff super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent.|Parking is a challenge. The road is one way so Park up the hill about 100 meters before the hotel. It’s an underground parking garage. Access may be a little tough the first time but the views make it worth the trouble.

Recently stayed at il Belvedere with two other friends. We stayed in the non cave rooms which were lovely with lots of light and very spacious. The service and assistance that we received from every staff member was exemplary. The terrace over looking the old city, caves and canyon was seriously to die for. The locations is perfect and within an easy walk to anything and everything. I have given this B&B 5 star rating but if I had been able to give it 6 stars, I would have….!

Excellent location with breathtaking views. The cave room was spectacular.|Breakfast had many choices.Very friendly staff. The giro in ape organized by the hotel was great too. We highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel must be one of the best hotels we have stayed in. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The terrace of the hotel is situated so perfectly for the best views of Matera, just sitting at night with a glass of wine and enjoy the most stunning view. The really nice breakfast buffet was also enjoyed on the terrace. The cave room was beautiful and quiet large. Over all I can only recommend this place as it is perfect.

A Perfect Stay in Matera||The hotel is perfectly situated right at the start of the tourist route that circles the city, with a parking garage just 100 meters away—making it ideal for exploring the Sassi.||The room we stayed in was absolutely beautiful and incredibly spacious. It remained pleasantly cool even in 30+ degree weather—we didn’t even need to use the air conditioning.||All of the staff were courteous, helpful, and genuinely friendly.||The view of the Sassi from the terrace is likely one of the best in all of Matera. One of our favorite evenings was simply sitting out on the terrace with a glass of wine and some snacks, soaking in the stunning view after a long, hot day of exploring.||Breakfast was very nice—simple but typical of many Italian hotels. The staff were happy to make a delicious coffee of your choice.||If we ever return to this amazing city, we will definitely stay here again.

Absolutely wonderful! We were fortunate to stay in the junior suite. It was the most beautiful room. Stunning! The view from the deck is specular.a perfect place for a drink in the evening and delicious breakfast in the morning. The staff were all charming and as helpful as could be. A fantastic experience.

Authentic cave hotel experience with stunning views across the city of Matera. Attention to detail was evident throughout our short stay. Evening drinks on the terrace was one of the many highlights of our stay. Highly recommend. The only downside was that we should have stayed for more nights in this beautiful place. Staff were excellent and very helpful.
