Hotel ILUNION Bilbao

Avoid this hotel. It is located right beside a night club so during the weekends its incredibly loud. You will hear the music all night long (our room was in the fourth floor). If you have to stay here, DO NOT pay for breakfast. Coffee machines were broken both days, food trays are empty for long periods of time. Noisy staff throw plates into carts. I did not trust the look of anything in the food, so I o ly tried the fruit. And even that they managed to screw up. A waiter noticed there was almost no food (at 10am) and asked if i wanted something prepared for me. I asked for some eggs, but i didnt even try them. Staff at the front desk are rude, speak over you and apparently were never trained in service or hospitality. Never saw a single smile. Rooms were OK; dark and only three electric plugs! Cleaning staff yell through the hallways at 8am. I understand its a 3 star hotel, but €150 for this is absurd.

Excellent modern hotel, centrally located, ten mi utewalk to Old Town. Gorgeous rooms, comfortable bed, duvet and pillows, great shower, quiet, luxury at a good price. Maria Gonzales was especially kind and helpful in reception.

I was very dissatisfied with this hotel. arrival - I left a request for parking, no one confirmed it, but no one refused it either. to get to the hotel I had to cross a low emission zone, but I didn't have a sticker and no one warned me that it was required. I went to the garage but no one opened the door for me, saying that the garage was occupied and there were no free spaces. When I asked how I could get back out, I was told to reverse, which was very dangerous because the driveway was narrow and at a steep angle. I was told to park in another place, but there was no low emission zone there, and if I had known that I would not be given a parking space, I would have gone there right away without the risk of getting a fine for crossing a zone for which I did not have a pass. further regarding the hotel itself. we are not disabled, but nothing that we received was for disabled people. its peculiarity was that the shower was very inconveniently located, but the entrance to the shower was half covered by a curtain that did not close or open, so you had to crawl under it. in addition, there was black mold on the curtain.Next - the bed linen. It was clean, but the blankets... it was a breeding ground for ticks that bit us every night. Every morning we scratched ourselves, my wife had a bite on her arm that didn't go away for a week!

We are actually spending 2 days in the hotel. We arrived in the rooms, and it’s really warm in the room. I called the reception, and they told me that it’s not possible to put the temperature under 24-25 degrees. It’s important to give those kind of informations before check-in. I would have not choose this hotel if I knew it before. Any offer has been made to make a gesture for the customer. Any consideration.

We liked: - location is perfect, next to city centre, bus station, aeroport bus, metro etc. - Good room, with comfortable beds, good air-conditioning. - Entrance area is comfortable and nicely decorated. To be improved: - Don't book this hotel if you are staying over weekend and want to sleep from Sat/Sun -> there is DISCO next to the hotel, evenso we stayed on 4th (!!!) floor, we could hear everything and feel the bass in the bed...that night was no sleep possible with music till 6 a.m. Reception didn't warn us about disco and couldn't offer a room at higher floors... - Check-In took at least 30 Min, it was very slow, ineffective. Some receptionists didn't speak English (it's embarrassing for a big hotel chain). Check-In time is strict at 14:00, no minute earlier, I haven't seen such inflexibility in other hotels... - Room was missing water cooker (which should be standard in 3 star).

It is weird the whole check-in process. It seems like we are entering North Korea. The location is sketchy but central. The rooms are awesome. We spent one night at this hotel, it was awesome to enjoy the room, and very convenient to park and charge the carat the parking below the hotel. The lift is available from the lobby to the parking directly.

I was charged an extra 60% for my room by the hotel because of an apparent error they had with booking.com Communication from booking.com and the hotel itself has been non-existent. The rooms were fine but service has room for improvement. I wouldn't book at any Ilunion hotel on principle.

Had a pleasant stay at Illusion in Bilbao the week of 7/9/25. The staff at the hotel was not very friendly. Asked for assistance with our TV and were told to "keep trying". Went back the next day and we were told that someone would be up shortly to help and no-one ever came. Breakfast was good, no smiles at all from staff when requesting help. Language barrier was a problem. During our Thursday and Friday nigh stays there was the thump-thump of music playing at the disco on the street until the early hours of the morning which interrupted sleep. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are very clean. Location is excellent. Would stay there again with the hope that service improves with feedback.
