I was excited to stay at his hotel after reading the wonderful reviews from other travelers. As I had high expectations, I was truly disappointed during my stay at this hotel. |First, the good- the location was excellent as it was close to the Antwerp train station, and was surrounded by plenty of restaurants and two supermarkets. The ladies at the reception were friendly and nice during check-in and out. ||And this is where the "good" ends. Being surrounded by restaurants also meant that anyone staying in rooms facing the street was guaranteed nights of no sleep. The noise was horrible and super loud, which went on well past midnight every single night, no exceptions. Anyone staying on that side of the hotel and is a light sleeper, please do not forget your earplugs. I asked the front desk about this and they just shrugged their shoulders. ||As another traveler had pointed out in their review, the rooms are dated and old. The unit door doesn't really close behind you when you enter, so remember to make sure that the door actually closes behind you for safety concerns. Upon entering the room after check-in, the bed was dirty with crumbs still on the duvet. The bathroom door handle also fell off as soon as I tried to turn the knob (and I don't have superhuman strength or anything). When housekeeping came, they took a look and just took the dirty duvet away without saying anything or cleaning the room again, which was puzzling. The bathroom was tiny, and paint was peeling off the ceiling. ||The lack of hot water in this hotel was also another letdown. I had to take a shower in nearly cold water. When I went to the front desk to report this, there were also other travelers reporting the same issue, so beware when you take showers, because you are not always guaranteed to have hot water. ||In conclusion, if you are a light sleeper, we would suggest another hotel due to the lack of soundproofing for this hotel. In addition, check doors in the rooms to make sure that the door knob/handle works.
