This was my worst hotel experience in Barcelona. The hotel feels oversold and over-marketed and does not live up to the IHG Hotel Indigo brand. The overall build quality is cheap and superficial: slow and unstable elevators, an extremely tight double bed in the standard room, and “stylish” interiors that are largely plastic foil. The main issue is air conditioning and ventilation. Most standard rooms have only a very small window towards inner covered small yard causing poor air circulation. There is no cooling mode on the AC. Staff advised us to turn off the AC and open the window, but the room temperature still stayed around 27–28°C, making it impossible to sleep. The explanation was that “it is winter so only heating is available,” which is unacceptable given the indoor temperature. We eventually paid extra to upgrade to a premium room. Ventilation improved, but then the heating did not work properly, and the room became too cold at night. The climate issue was never properly resolved. The front desk repeatedly provided standard scripted responses without real solutions. Overall, not worth the price and not recommended

A boutique hotel with attractive decor themed to it's location and the ornate glassed-in balcony off the bedroom is a wonderful vantage point to watch the street life. The low score for the room is entirely based on it being cold. The staff are in the main attentive and friendly (see exception below). We used IHG points for the room and breakfast was not included but was excellent value for €18 and remains open until 11am. HOWEVER this hotel advertises 24 hours room service but has NO breakfast items from room service. When I complained I was told I could order from the dinner menu. As the response was immediate and cutly dismissive I suspect the issue arises frequently. Indeed I heard the same staff member responding to a telephone inquiry in the same manner just minutes later. The room temperature seemed fine on checking in but was cold during the night, the thermostat seemed to be locked. I raised this with reception and was told someone would look into it, however, the same experience night two. Not the hotel's fault but important to know that Uber, Bolt etc. are not allowed to pick up or drop off in front of the hotel. You need to use a traditional taxi.

Giving a 3 star only due to the following reason. Check in was smooth and the receptionist was super nice. We Checked in late so we had to get dinner from the hotel's restaurant. On entering, no one greeted us, we smiled and waved repeatedly and no one answered. So we chose a table for ourselves (it was me and my parents), on sitting down, a waitress PATRICIA magically appeared and told us we weren't allowed to sit on that table and we should sit in the corner. We did that and then tried to grab Patricia's attention multiple times, but she seemed to be busy with the other SPANISH SPEAKING guests only. We waited for more than 45 mins before we went to the man at the reception and placed our order with him. He apologised for the experience and was nice and attentive to us. None of the other waiters or bar staff attended to us throughout the night and we had to get up to ask for glasses for our water as it was not served to us. Hotel is very good and the staff at the reception are very polite but IF YOU DON'T SPEAK SPANISH, PLEASE AVOID THE RESTAURANT. I have been to many countries including other cities in Spain but never faced racially discrimination like this before. Edit: On seeing other reviews, apparently this isn't an uncommon experience at the hotel's restaurant. On weekends, it is often booked for private events such as speed dating but it would be really appreciated if they could find a designated area for the hotel guests.

The staff & facilities at Hotel Indigo were amazing! It’s hard to know what to expect when you book someplace online but we were not disappointed! Our transfer arrangements for pickup and drop off were handled smoothly and efficiently. Communication was quick and accurate. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and bilingual so there was no language barriers. They even provided us with a complimentary boxed breakfast when we had to leave for the airport before their restaurant opened in the morning. The hotel is within walking distance of the Hop On Hop Off pickup/dropoff (about 2.5 blocks-10-15 minutes depending on how quick you walk). Highly recommended!

A lovely place that makes you feel that you're in GaudĂ's Barcelona from your first step. The location is fabulous: it's easy walking distance to many major attractions. The rooms are modern and equipped with comfortable beds. Breakfast has a good variety of options. The bar is very cozy and can provide you with a good quality food all day long. Special thanks to Jarra, an amazing barman that makes you feel welcomed and enjoy your time.

Three weeks ago we stayed at the hotel. The air conditioning was a bit slow, but Sam came and fixed it immediately. I asked him for some advice on getting around the city with the kids, and he recommended some great places and restaurants. His attention was excellent, and he is very friendly.

Location is fabulous. Barcelona is a very walkable city. People are so friendly. Staff at the hotel was great and go out of their way to provide whatever is needed. Will definitely stay at this hotel again. Cannot compliment the staff and the hotel enough. Thanks for a great trip!

Yelp
This was our first time visiting Barcelona for our Mediterranean cruise from the Barcelona cruise port to Cadiz, Lisbon, Porto and Morocco. We stayed at the IHG Hotel Indigo Barcelona Plaza Catalunya for two nights prior to our cruise from Barcelona's cruise terminal. I loved the Plaza Catalunya area. As I previously reviewed, our airport taxi driver had trouble locating our IHG Hotel Indigo. The IHG Hotel Indigo is a four-star superior hotel, with design and decor that takes inspiration from the neighborhood's architectural masterpieces. Take, for instance, their GaudĂ-inspired lobby and guest room murals, and the patterned fabrics and artwork that showcase the community's history. Outside their doors, it's a short walk to the GaudĂ original Casa BatllĂł as well as the cafes and street performers of La Rambla, the Temple de la Sagrada Familia, and countless shops and boutiques. When we checked in early at the front desk I was recognized as IHG Platinum Elite. Since we had an overnight flight from EWR Newark to Barcelona we arrived at the hotel in the early morning so we had to wait for our rooms to become available later that morning. We waited outside in their courtyard in the shade. At the IHG Hotel Indigo Barcelona Cocktail & Snack Bar, you may enjoy a drink or a snack after a day of exploring. The bar staff here were very nice. We stopped here to pick up some drinks before sleeping. Their poolside terrace is a perfect place to soak up the atmosphere over a glass of local cava. Our king bedroom #108 overlooking the pool included breakfast. I loved our room, because it had a very high ceiling and was at the end of the hallway on the quiet courtyard. We had an outside patio area with lounge chairs overlooking the courtyard. Our room rate included two daily breakfasts, which were very nice. See my many pics. I enjoyed my daily cappuccino, freshly cooked eggs, local bacon, sausage and local Spanish ham. My hotel cost was 403 Euros per night or 806 Euros for our two night stay or $964.34 (USA) in total. Including our bar bill my total hotel cost was 830 Euros or additional $45.01 USA. The hotel was in a great location near the major center of shopping and dining. I love tapas. See my prior two local restaurant reviews. The hotel staff here were very nice. They arranged a very large taxi to take the four of us including our four large luggages from the hotel to the Barcelona Celebrity cruise port. I would return here again. More to come regarding our Celebrity cruise port experience.

Yelp
hotel indigo barcelona is located just a block from plaza catalunya which is also one of the aerobus stops from the airport or roughly 45 euro taxi ride...location is perfect and mostly walking distance to el born, gothic quarter, picasso museum, basĂlica de la sagrada famĂlia, nova icaria beach, casa batllo, casa mila, shopping, barcelona nord bus station if you want to travel around spain and more...location and staff is fantastic...park guell appears close on the map, but take a 15 euro taxi because it is quite a hike up...hotel is comfortable and part of ihg...perfect for a family of 3 wanting to stay in one room...they will provide a twin bed in a single king room...room is clean and comfortable...bottled water is complimentary and restocked...some car noise during the day since it is next to a main street...the pool is small, but they need to do a better job cleaning or skimming all the bugs and flowers out daily...too much smoking in the pool area...they do have a nice fully stocked bar and restaurant, but seemed odd that the bartender doesn't know how to make any cocktails...you can only get beer, wine or straight pours from the liquor bottles...still a good hotel to stay...the front desk staff are excellent...rooms are little over $200 a night if you average the nights during the summer...

Yelp
Location was awful. Miles from everythig a tourist wans to go to. Room was nice but when on vacation, lication is everything. Desk staff bt particularly helpful. Sent me on to wild goose chases.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel! They have an amazing breakfast buffet -- with wonderful REAL eggs, not powder like they are in the US, whole gorgeous fruit, sliced fresh fruit, cheeses, a variety of breads, real amazing dairy products, plant milks, cereals, and much more. You really don't have a need to go out to get breakfast since you can purchase this buffet at a discounted price upon check-in. The rooms are comfortable, yet a bit smaller than I was accustomed to, with high quality toiletries. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Room service is 24-hours. You are close to shops, restaurants, sites, and public transport. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
We were scheduled to spend several nights in Barcelona at this hotel before embarking on a transatlantic cruise. Eight days before our trip I suffered a retinal detachment and had to have immediate surgery the next day. Because of this surgery, I am unable to travel, first because I can't fly, and additionally because I am currently under post-op follow-up from my physician. We have a letter from him which confirms this situation. I realize that the reservation made at this hotel was not within the timeframe for cancellation. However, this is in no way a "normal" nor possibly anticipated situation. All our other travel vendors (cruise line, Delta, tours, etc.) understood this and made an accommodation out of compassion and understanding. Regrettably, this hotel's values and consideration for it's guests apparently don't align with the rest of the other travel and hospitality industry providers we dealt with. That's a shame. When we do reschedule our trip in the future we will certainly not stay somewhere which show such a lack or understanding or sympathy.

Yelp
We stayed here from April 10th - 11th, two nites. When we arrived we were quickly taken care of by Nahule (I think that's the spelling). Very tentative pleasant. Once the formalities were taken care of this associate Veronica quickly introduced herself and explained that even though our room wasn't ready (we did get there early) that they were quickly working on get it ready for us. She offered for us to have a drink in the bar, on the house while we waited. She further explained that she would be available for any help we needed during our stay. She also provided us with breakfast credit during our stay. Since we needed to do a money exchange she directed us on where we could do that. They held on bags while we went to go Euros. When we returned the room was ready and Nahule help take our bags, 4 large ones to the room. Checking out still the get attention and pleasantness from Veronica and Nahule. There was another fellow you help us get a taxi. He stood outside waiting for a large taxi to go by, which took quite a bit of time but he waited very graciously. We plan on being back there in about a week and looking forward to seeing all of them. Oh the breakfast buffet is amazing too as so is the staff too. Thank you Lorena Ustero for having a great team!

Yelp
We had a great stay in Barcelona. The hotel was nice and we had a free upgrade of our room that has a balcony. We weren't able to use it because most of the time we were outside plus the fact the weather is so hot and very humid. The breakfast buffet is nice and lots of choice. Everyday the food is almost the same. I love their mocha cappuccino there. Th hotel is close to shopping mall and lots of restaurant nearby and tourist destinations:)

Yelp
A lot of pros and very few cons from this hotel. PROS: in the city center and close to almost everything. You walk out the front door and Barcelona is at your footsteps. Everything from Las Ramblas to Gaudi's Sagrada Familia and his other architectural masterpieces are super close! ROOM: The rooms are really cute and somewhat modern. Even though I got the best room you could get, it was slightly small. The bed was extremely comfortable and it was very quiet in the evening and it made for a good nights sleep. I believe I had a superior room, whatever the best for me could get and it was just looking over the pool with no Terrace. Staff: The staff was super friendly and unpretentious. They helped us out by trying to expedite our check in and also by calling us a taxi to leave to the airport upon checkout. Even though I am platinum, they are not very big with upgrades. CONS: Not many. The coffee machine did not work but that was probably just in my room. Also, this hotel can be pricey for what you get. It is a nice four-star hotel boutique style and certainly not fancy but it's definitely not a dump. It's in a great part of town and will most likely meet your needs.

Yelp
As a Platinum Elite IHG Rewards member, I was pleased to stay at this beautiful modern hotel in the center of Barcelona. It is 0.5 miles from Passeig de Garcia (L3 Green Line) which is a large Metro station connecting to other subway lines including L9 Orange from Barcelona airport. The direct airport bus (Aeropuerto Bus) is close approximately 0.5 miles next to Placa Catalunya metro station. The hotel is in easy walking distance to the beach, main tourist areas and great restaurants. Staff is friendly and helpful. They have a swimming pool and beautiful bar lounge.

Yelp
The staffs are super friendly and helpful, the hotel is so close to everything that you need to get to in Barcelona. The pool though was very small, I had such a wonderful time in Bali with indigo, but a little disappointed when I saw the pool in person. The pictures of the pool was a little misleading.

Yelp
I've stayed in my fair shares of hotels but this one has to be in my Top 3 favorites. It's the right amount of fancy and hipster. Everything is new, complimentary (water bottle, juice, teas, coffees, and Biscoffs), and the hotel is very close to several main attractions. By the way... the bathroom is spacious, has dual sinks, the tub has two shower heads and JETS. The staff is unbelievably friendly and definitely made us feel like we were at home.

Yelp
Used to be my favorite hotel in Barcelona. In an excellent location and the rooms are quite nice for the price level. However they charged me incorrectly and even presenting them with proper documentation during checkout they would not budge. They did promise to have the GM look into it - but of course this never happened. Emails, calls and even corporate complaints are not being responded to. So while I love the hotel and location it's up to you to decide whether you want to risk this property overcharging you and then never responding. I know my choice. Too many other properties nearby to waste time with Hotel Indigo Barcelona.

Yelp
Convenient location. Friedly staff. Free WiFi. Styled rooms. Supermarket nearby. Rather noisy as the windows and walls don't isolate very well. Bathroom needs attention. Fridge out of order. Overall not really four stars.

Yelp
Excellent location in the central district of Barcelona. Easy walk to multiple restaurants, attractions, and most important public transit. Upgraded to a street side Guadi style room. Very styish and hip. All staff was very pleasent. Will stay again when traveling to Barcelona.

Bill S.

Yelp
Great little hotel in a convenient location. Our stay has been great. Front desk staff are helpful and friendly. Room is nicely furnished and large. Prompt, thorough housekeeping staff. Decent breakfast buffet and friendly bar man. The only improvement I'd suggest is to addressing heating/AC controls. They use an energy saving system that shuts off power unless your room key is inserted into a slot by the door. Fine and good, but when you return, the heatingAC system doesn't always turn back on which requires a somewhat complicated restart. Very minor inconvenience from a top-notch property.

Yelp
The hotel is in a great location and has everything you need for a nice stay. Marta is their best employee and very accommodating, she was friendly from the very beginning. It's unacceptable to have a bar with bartenders that 1) don't man the bar to give service and then 2) to have the bartender outside talking to "a friend" for 10 minutes just to come inside 20 minutes before closing time to say "sorry we are closed, I'm already in my regular clothes" (this is all in Spanish of course.) The front desk attendant, Patricia, said the bar closed at 1 and "to enjoy", but then we are told at 12:40 that it's closed. Very unprofessional and disappointing after a long day on vacation. I am not only and IHG rewards member, but also have given business to this particular hotel for multiple days and to be told I can't have 2 drinks made when there are 8 people sitting around the bar drinking is absurd and unacceptable. Feels a bit discriminating since We are 2 YOUNG females and there were 8 OLDER men STILL drinking around the bar as the bartender stated she was "closed". This one incident has made this stay less than satisfactory to say the least.

Gene L.

Yelp
As you enter the hotel, and for the 7 days following, the pungent aroma of sewer like bathroom cleaning solution permiated the air. The first day we wanted a cappuccino but if you did not pay the 23 euros for breakfast it was impossible to get any coffee from anyone. Also the first night we tried to get a drink from the bar and waited 10 minutes, but the bar was not manned at 830 pm. I am a gold ambassador member and was given a room upgrade but this room overlooked one of the busiest streets in the area and was very noisy. The rooms in the courtyard seemed better. The front desk and cleaning staff were very helpful and pleasant. The next time in Barcelona I will try another hotel
