This was a cozy hotel in the historic 5 points area. We used street parking which was free on the evenings and weekends. Our bed was comfy and cleaned on day 2 of 3. Tiffany and Justin at the front desk were so kind and helpful! They made our stay so enjoyable even though the key cards for the rooms didn’t work.

I read the reviews after it was too late to cancel so I was a little concerned, but our experience was better than others described. Some positives were the room was nice and clean. We could hear street noise, but we travel with a white noise machine, so even though I heard it, it didn't keep me up. And I didn't think it was that bad anyway. We used the valet service, but there is a parking garage behind the building so use that if you come here! Most of the people working there were not out-going or friendly, but they weren't rude either. However, the woman working the breakfast area was super nice! One thing we found odd was how dark the lobby was. During check-in, it was so dark! There was a smidge more light when we checked out. It was not very welcoming at all and I don't understand the reasoning behind that decision. I say add better lighting! Overall, we were not impressed with the surrounding area, and that would keep us from coming back to this hotel. But if you are in town to go to Five Points, this wouldn't be so bad.

Check in was good but that’s where it ends. Front desk clerk was nice. They control your temperature in your room. As a business travel customer I don’t want to call the front desk every time I want to go from 75 to 70. Fan in room blew all night. It’s loud outside but I guess I should have done a little research. The show didn’t have any body wash had the body balm which is lotion in the shower luckily I keep a bar or two in my travel from my travels. I never write reviews so I will yall with that. Staff is nice I just won’t be staying there again.

Although the hotel itself was a disappointment, there were employees who were the highpoint of our stay. The valet service was excellent. Marci went above and beyond to assist us with luggage and making sure we were in and out of the car safely on a busy street and in the blowing rain. She recognized that we had some specific challenges and was kind and compassionate. ||In the restaurant, Delores was patient and attentive with us and provided excellent service. ||I was excited to stay at a Hotel Indigo because my previous experiences at this brand was excellent. This property has great potential but needs some repair and maintenance.

Positive: The staff there is great! They are also very helpful with useful information. Negative: My air went out in the middle of the night. The front desk receptionist did offer me another room. It was too late to change room for me. The next day the air was working fine.

The people working at this location were all outstanding professionals. Super friendly, helpful and willing to go above and beyond. The neighborhood is very walkable and lots of nice cafes and restaurants. IF YOU HAVE pets...the elevators are VERY slow, so ask for a lower level room, cuz the stairs are well lighted and an option. The elevator was the only negative and if not traveling with pets...10/10.

Couldn't have asked for better service. The room was very clean and comfortable. Joston was kind and helpful along with Marcie who handled our valet service. We stayed at Hotel Indigo because we had a family member that was having surgery at UAB. If you want some good cooking, Ms Deloris won't let you down.

Yelp
Firstly, not photographed Angela the cleaning manager stole my engagement jewelry, a family heirloom and a gift from a deceased loved one, all jewelry pieces and threw those items into the trash bin. Claiming she and her staff felt bad energy from our room because they are christian and we had jewelry they assumed was demonic because it was a japanese theatre mask with horns on the pendant. They took photos of our things, violating my privacy and spoke amongst themselves, refused to clean our room and then proceeded to steal and throw away into the trash my sacred items. The city has since taken the trash out. Secondly pictured, A/C didnt work for 5/7days of our stay. The skirting board was lifted and displaced exposing nails. And to top it off, there was a poo covered towel underneath on of our beds for two nights unbeknownst to us. Breathing in someone else poo whilst we slept. I am livid and beside myself about my jewellry!

Yelp
The Rx lounge at the hotel is usually only open to hotel guests. Must ask to enter the building for the bar if not a guest, not a large top shelf collection but definitely a nice touch of elegance for a downtown bar. Hotel room was decent as well. Would have loved a pool at the rooftop!

Yelp
Checked in this weekend and I was honestly shocked out how this visit went. The location is great and I'm sure that was the reasoning for the price, but the actual stay wasn't all that. Most hotels now have TVs with Netflix and Hulu on them. These don't do bring your laptop and hdmi cord. There was no fridge or microwave inside the room either. Knobs were falling off the shower. I don't think I'm going to be returning here again

Yelp
Check-in was horrible, took over an hour and phone calls to IHG and work travel agency. The parking valet system didn't work, supposed to be all through text, never got receipt for it. Valet was too expensive ($38/night before tip). Room was ok until cigarette smoke came in from another room. It is also on a noisy street at night.

Yelp
This was our first time here. Came over for a concert and didn't want to drive home after. First off, the bed was super hard, I was ok with it but it hurt my wife's hips pretty bad. Room overall was nice, in good repair and nicely appointed. I do miss the in room fridge, but that seems to be the norm for Indigo. Loved the fact it had a walk in shower instead of a tub. Our particular room just had a view of the neighboring rooftop, but downtown Birmingham so not much to expect. I will say the elevator was problematic. When we left, I timed it, we waited 9 1/2 minutes for the elevator. It seemed only one of the two was working. We were only there one night so we didn't try the restaurant or any of the other amenities. The valet staff was very friendly. As much as I hate paying $38 a night, it was the easiest. Probably wouldn't stay there again, but it was close to the concert venue.

Yelp
As soon as we entered the room it was hot. Tried to adjust AC unit but it was locked. Controlled by front desk. Called down and they said they would adjust. After several hours the temp never changed. Went back to front desk to complain. They call maintenance. Maintenance guy came and he was great but the floor did not have Freon. Front desk knew this the whole time. They lied to us. Waiting to see if they will move us to a floor that is cooled. Will follow up with update. As of now.... Do Not Stay Here. Update: They said they do not have another room available. Again, DO NOT STAY HERE

Yelp
Parking lot obscenely filthy and dark. Desk service made us feel unwelcome. Rooms were run down. Breakfast was not worth eating even though free.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. The room was not cleaned, the neighborhood was a huge red flag, and half the hotel was shut down. The down button on the 5th floor wasn't even on the elevator so you have to stick your finger into a hole and try to find it. Immediately left and got a refund. Extremely terrible hotel.

Yelp
Good god, if you actually want to sleep, DO NOT STAY HERE ON THE WEEKEND. My family recently stayed here on a Saturday night - having had great experiences with other Hotel Indigo locations in the past - and the first red flag was the neighborhood. It seems like it is a failed gentrification - a few nice restaurants in the neighborhood but mostly head shops and projects. Lots of homelessness. We didn't valet the car and parked it in an adjoining garage ourselves. We watched a hit and run in the garage and noticed the trash had not been taken out at any of the bins in weeks. The elevator and staircase smelled of piss. Got down to the main floor where the hotel is at and the first thing I noticed was a night club behind the hotel. We got buzzed in by security and checkin was painless and friendly. We were placed in a room facing the street. Everything was fine until about 9 o'clock and then the motorcycles, ATVs, and party buses started going up and down the street. People doing wheelies on ATVs and motorcycles till 3 in the morning - nonstop. No police presence, nobody breaking anything up. Just constant noise - and loud, brain thumping music from said cars. Allegedly the other side of the hotel is no better because it faces the previously mentioned nightclub, which I discovered while reading reviews about the Hotel Indigo in the middle of the night while I was trying to sleep. Check out was painless. Ended up not paying for parking because some yahoo broke the gate. The attendant trying to fix the gate said it happens every weekend, so I guess there's that. If you do stay here, go to the Indian restaurant across the street - it is absolutely amazing. Otherwise, stay the hell away from here. At least on the weekends.

Yelp
If only it was possible to leave negative stars. Checked in on Friday for a one night stay - UAB appt. I asked about parking upon arrival and was only told of a valet option, $35/night. Very small room, 2nd floor, with a scenic view of the low roof covered in HVAC equipment. No mini fridge. No bottled water. No drinking glasses. We walked across the street to the Indian restaurant for dinner, which was superb. Walking back, we heard what sounded like a gunshot, startling a group dining at an outside patio on the corner. Boarded up storefronts, graffiti, and homeless people. Room A/C does not cool room. However, it is just one night so manageable. Until the live music/DJ started up; I never thought I would miss a loud A/C and fan. The noise is so loud earplugs do not help. It is midnight and no slowing down. Per the front desk, the festivities last until 2-3am, and there is no noise ordinance. We will prob sleep thru check out.

Yelp
I've stayed at several Hotel Indigos (Tower Bridge area in London and the one by Paddington Station, London) as I like their small boutique feel. Each one has its own theme with fun decor to match. This one though seemed a little run down and could have been a bit cleaner (common areas). However, The sheets and towels were clean, the room itself fresh, and the front desk was friendly...their hospital scrubs threw me until I realized the theme was an Apothecary. My only real complaint was that their restaurant/bar had limited hours.

K C.

Yelp
This hotel did not offer everything it advertised, I was unable to eat dinner inside the hotel, due to no evening chef. Only 1 elevator was working, the ADA door button did not work to open the door, I was placed in a room on the left side of the hotel near loud restaurants on Friday and Saturday nights until late into the night. The house keepers could do a better job cleaning and sweeping the floors so that hair and debris from pervious guest is removed. I request a late cleaning which I never received. The room should provide card or sign to indicate where coffee pot is located. My clock phone did not work, the toilet seat was slight out of place and needs to be fixed. The hotel needs to do a better job of walking through the rooms to make sure they are cleaned and everything is in working order. An additional charge was made to my card by the Hotel at 4am which I am monitoring to see if it falls off, I was only told there would be one charge for incidentals to my card. The location of this hotel is downtown so you are subject to homeless encampments and open drug use and debris on the street.

Yelp
This is by far the worst Indigo we have ever stayed at. The valet over charged us nightly. Grossly under staffed. Only one person at the front desk. Smelt like weed in the hallway outside our room. Nobody was working the restaurant or bar so the front desk person had to wait on us. Elevator broke so had to walk up and down 4 flights of stairs. Lobby bathroom was out of order. The surrounding neighborhood has some good restaurants but very sketchy people on the streets. Went to the Black Market next door. Said they were relocating to a better neighborhood. I don't see how they haven't shut this location down yet. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Yelp
The best part of this hotel was the two friendly staff out of the three I encountered. Hotel Indigo is recently renovated so it's cute. Some modern adornments and nice toiletries. Valet parking is gonna cost around $25 or more ? Online it said $45 but we paid $25 and there is a lounge downstairs/bar so that is good if you don't have a family but it doesn't mention that anywhere prior to booking. If you want a quiet location this hotel is not for you. Personally I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It just was not a good fit for me. The online pictures make it look wayyy nicer than it really is and they have super tiny rooms, tiny beds, and by the way I'm only 5'2 so most of the time it's not a big deal. Oh my gosh the elevators are scary too! LOL !! I totally wish I would have booked a chain hotel and I can't believe I'm saying this because the idea of a boutique hotel sounded so nice but honestly they totally missed the mark. Oh side note carefully use the door knobs my teenage daughter cut her hand opening the door on her way out because it was broken. It had some huge metal piece sticking out! YIKES!!! One last thing. I hope your buff because you are gonna need some huge back arms to use the bathroom door. But they do have a work out room. ***** BY THE WAY IF U PLAN ON USING THE WATER 15-10 MINUTES BEFORE CHECK OUT DON'T BOTHER! THIS HOTEL TURNS YOUR WATER OFF TO ENSURE A SPEDY CHECK OUT. I CANT IMAGINE HOUSEKEEPING CLEANING WITHOUT WATER AND THEY WERE RIGHT BY MY DOOR WHEN I LEFT WITH MY BAGS AT 11am. ***. So I'm taking a star away. That's is next level! If there truly was a water problem I expected a phone call from front desk. I was promptly downstairs at 11:01 and it would have been 11 if it wasn't for scary elevator

Yelp
All around terrible experience. We had booked 2 rooms and they both were clearly not cleaned when they gave them to us. Beds unmade and dirty towels and trash in the floor. This put us in a major bind because we had somewhere to be and no time to get ready. The next morning we got ready to down to breakfast at 9:45 and we're informed that they decided to close EARLY. ALL AROUND A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I don't normally write reviews but I think the general public need to have this information before booking this hotel so they can be prepared.

Yelp
The lack of humanity displayed by their staff was breathtaking. I purchased the room from my hospital bed while recovering from an unexpected surgery at UAB. Due to the pain and overall confusion, I had forgotten my wallet with photo ID in the room when leaving. Upon arrive, when asked for my ID and was shocked to discover I did not have my wallet. They demanded a physical photo ID or I would not be given my room. I had my wrist band from the hospital with my name, my discharge papers with my name, the email they sent me with confirmation number, a picture of my drivers license and a website that had my picture and profile on it. None of these were sufficient. Thankfully, the hospital was able to locate my wallet and I was able to get the room. It would have been better to have waited in the room I had purchased for the night. Nope, I was forced to wait in the cold (around 40F) in pain while coordinating with UAB to get my wallet. Second, I had to go to the front desk to have the temperature changed. You were not allowed to change it yourself. What kind of hotel makes you ask the front desk to set the room temperature. Third. They deactivated my keys before checkout. Checkout was listed at 11:00 AM and my keys would not work at 10:30 AM. So, overall, a terrible hotel run my people who simply don't care about other humans.

Yelp
Don't. Just don't do it. I really feel sorry for the staff here that is trying, but my experience was not a good one. Our car was left in front of the hotel windows down all night. I reported it to the hotel. I reported it to HG today. No one has contacted me. And I won't mention the long hairs in the bed for the record my hair is short. It is a great location, but it is poorly managed and evidently they do not care after they have your credit card.

Yelp
A dirty hotel with disinterested staff TL;DR: This is the worst customer service I have ever received at a hotel in America, it is noisy and it is dirty everywhere. They promised a refund and then changed their mind later (I had three incomplete or dirty rooms and the manager agreed this was unacceptable and offered a refund then changed her mind when she had not issued the refund weeks later). Avoid it completely. After a 4 hour drive I was tired and looking forward to what bills itself as a four star hotel in the centre of Birmingham. The Indigo promises luxury and a convenient location (which it is). Things didn't get off to a good start when I pulled up outside the valet and he remained stoically behind his podium, deliberately showing disinterest as he watched us unload our bags onto the sidewalk, only deigning to bless his with his presence once this was finished. "You want valet?" He mumbled after he shuffled over to me then reluctantly handed me a ticket, leaving me to open the door to the hotel and shuffle past with my bags as he watched us. The reception staff was friendly enough, though oddly dressed in blue medical scrubs and more interested in the headphone he had plunged into his ear - he couldn't accommodate my request for a tub but that's OK. Luck of the draw sometimes.. Room 506, and I was looking forward to resting but felt surprised when I approached the door to find it ajar - blocking the entryway was a large wooden crate, presumably a replacement for the missing shower in the bathroom. We went back downstairs and asked about the room being under construction - "OK" said the clerk, as if he knew this already and couldn't understand why it may be a problem for me to have bare motor and scrap tiling strewing the shower area. Reassigned to room 406, we entered to find it filthy - bits of what looked like kitty litter across the floor and something that looked like wood chipping. Phoning reception, it was answered by a friendly lady who understood immediately "you've, checked in and your room is dirty" - "yes!" I replied enthusiastically, delighted that someone had so quickly grasped the issue and would now take command to resolve it. "Unfortunately the cleaners leave at five", she states before pausing.. when I ask what will be done about the dirty room and say that I've not had a good experience so far, she says she'll see what can be done and promises to call me back. I felt happy that a resolution was imminent..... 15 minutes pass and it sinks in that I've been ghosted by the lady who I thought had such promise and understood me so well. I phone the operator again and am put through to Mr Scrubs at the front desk, to whom I explain the issue of the filthy room and diesel-engine sounding air conditioner. "I can't really move you to another room man" falls out of his mouth, he clearly seems to feel I'm being unreasonable about not wanting a kitty litter and wood chip strewn floor, with mystery brown stains behind the nightstand.. When I say "I'd like a refund", a miracle occurs and another room (306, I can't help I'm progressing down the inferno) happens to become available. I trudge to the front desk and explain I understand that this isn't his fault but that it's been a terrible experience with this hotel so far. He smiles and hands me new keys. No apology, no offer of compensation. I can't help but feel he could have done more. The new room - two floors down.. still for some reason has a diesel powered air conditioner (I packed ear plugs), the bathroom vanity doesn't drain properly and one of the walls is decorated with snot (see pictures) but this time I'm tired and need to sleep. I complained to the manager in the morning and was promised a refund for the poor experience. This was on the 17th April and the refund has still not been processed. Expedia talked with the hotel on the 17th who confirmed that the refund would be forthcoming. It has not been and when enquiring on the status of it today (6th May) I've been told that the hotel now has no record of me being moved and that there will be no refund. Out of politeness and an initial feeling that my concerns had been addressed, I held off posting this review. I had a terrible experience at this hotel and now that they are calling me dishonest I am deeply disappointed. I do not recommend that anyone stays in this dishonest establishment.

Yelp
As others have stated, they have a cleanliness issue, which is ironic considering the new and improved anti-covid measures they claim to be taking. We found hair shavings in the shower, stains on the duvet cover, clothes from previous guests like the room had barely been looked over by cleaning staff. The AC was locked to an uncomfortable temperature and we were hot all night. I had to resort to hacking into the thermostat via YouTube videos to find out how to cool it. Elevators were rickety and smelled like someone had a Brut filled water gun fight inside them. The shower water smelled like sulfur as well--offputting. Essentially, we paid more than $100 but could have had a much better experience at a cheaper place...-a much CLEANER place. Very sad I didn't check Yelp before booking because I would have seen all these reviews talking about the cleaning problems.

Yelp
The area is really run down, not a good area for business travelers or anyone over 25 yrs old. Had a burger and fries ant the bar because very limited places to eat. One of the worst burgers I've ever had, and the fries were cooked in the over and burnt, tasted like burnt popcorn. Go elsewhere

Yelp
Britney is amazing we love her and she helped Us order Food after COVID curfew but I wouldn't recommend staying here if your not here for work at this time. But Britney is awesome !!! Ask for her and no one else!!!!

Yelp
Bottom Line: Pass on this hotel and stay at the Hilton that is across the street. ***Also make sure you are not double charged for your room if you pre-pay!!!*** The Details: I was traveling for work and picked this hotel to stay in for my last night due to its convenient location (pretty close to the airport) and the price. I checked in rather late in the evening and, after a long day, was really looking forward to concluding my trip in a nice, modern hotel room. I was disappointed to find that the room was not properly cleaned: there was trash under the bed and hair all over the bathroom shower and floor. I travel a lot and have really learned to look past imperfect service and inconveniences but cleanliness is just not something I can compromise on. Hair and used tissues are the types of trash that give you that, "Yuck..." feeling. *** One more thing - make sure you check your debit/credit card statements after staying here. About a week after my stay. I noticed that I was double charged for my room despite having paid in advance thorough a 3rd party booking site.

Yelp
The check in staff was very nice. The one elevator that was working was frightening and dropped you off at random floors. The hallways and rooms carried a heavy cleaning smell. The rooms are decorated in mod fashion but are small and banged up a bit. There are no refrigerators in the rooms. The surrounding area has plenty to see and do within walking distance.

Yelp
The "RX lounge" and white coats are creepy despite the buildings history. Parking is $21 a day, which for five points is pretty steep. The room is made to look hip but it's merely a shell, and a dirty one at that. Nail clippings were in the bathroom when we arrived. We moved to the embassy suites.

Yelp
Avoid this place. I got a room to treat myself to a nice hotel, came in 30 min early to ask if there was any way I could check in, extremely rude front desk girl turned me away with her nose in the air like I asked for something crazy. Fine, I was early, I get it. Came back, took 20 min to get checked in and when I got to my room, the ac wasn't working. EcoAC that is controlled by the front desk instead of the guest in the room?! I don't care if the wall says it's 64 in the room, I'm telling you, IT IS NOT. I'm sweating. I sleep HOT. This won't work at all. I complained twice, she says she will "have maintenance look at it." No offer for a different room with working ac. Just reading from her computer that it says my thermostat is set to 64. I'm about to demand a refund and leave. Terrible customer service and weak "luxury amenities"; do you think I care about Aveda soap when I can't get them to fix the ac in my room so I don't sweat all night? I'm so not impressed with this place. Never coming back.

Yelp
Pros : Beds comfy. Lots of pillows. Beautiful view. Cons: Dirty bathrooms (hair everywhere, floors, shower the walls, the mirrors were dirty. I called to have them clean the room again, and I guess they did, but didn't do a good job of it because when we got back there was still hair in the showers. I had to wear shower shoes cause it was so gross. Pubes everywhere. Just nasty! There is NO fridge in the room. Why?! I've never seen a hotel that didn't have a fridge! So we had to get ice and a cooler to keep our drinks cold. Pretty sucky! We had to wait over an hour to get into our room. Cause someone was working on the room so we had to be assigned a different room, which they knew but still assigned up the working room. So they're pretty dumb. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT BOOK THIS SHIT ASS HOTEL. Also Valet is 22 dollars day, if you are staying on the weekend use the public parking garage right next to it, because it's free.

Yelp
We had to run into town for a family issue and since I belong to IHG, I wanted to find a hotel under the brand. We chose Hotel Indigo and when i called to assure there was vacancy, I spoke to Reggie. He was pleasant, engaging and very knowledgeable. We checked into the hotel the next evening and Reggie was working and he made sure we knew where to park (it's not easily seen from the street) and we got into our rooms with ease. We LOVED our king suite. The space, the decor and the bed was super comfy. I think the only thing we needed after a long day on Sunday was a good move on Netflix.....there was no smart tv pull up our fav stuff. Other than that, we had a blast just resting. I took pictures of certaiin things because i wanna buy a home hopefuly next year and i'm always taking ideas from different places. Hotel Indigo offered great service, exceptional accomodating....OH, that shower!!!!...honey, I'm sorry if I ran the water bill up but I could NOT get out of the shower! I had a massive shower head AND a massager. Will I be back, yes I will. This our new spot when coming into town. So done with the other hotels and hard beds. Chile please!

Yelp
What a great little place to stay. Very cool decor with a funky, eclectic vibe. Christopher makes a fantastic breakfast too!

Yelp
A pig dolled up in makeup. When we arrived to the room, the floor was covered in dog fur & had not been swept or vacuumed. Cheap drywall repair. Bar inside hotel was out of basic drinks and the bartenders needed a sheet of paper to make a drink. Intoxicated guy urinated on the floor & Staff never cleaned it up. When I told the front desk all this, the receptionist said they'd have their manager call me for customer feedback. That never happened. Overall, way to expensive for the quality of service & comfort.

This hotel....*sigh*. By Looking at the newly renovated pictures of this hotel, I figured it would be a really nice place to stay but I'll start from the beginning of check in. The front desk lady seemed unpleasant and uninterested upon entering but I just pushed that to the back of my head. We parked our vehicle and came to our room. We entered our room and the floor was noticeably covered in hair, dust, crumbs, etc. Even the safe in the room was dusty. I contacted the front desk lady and requested a broom because of the floors and her response was, "ma'am, I'll see if I can find you one in housekeeping". About ten minutes later, my fiancée decided to go to the front desk and the young lady was standing there not in search of a broom. She appeared irritated because he was following up on the request for one. She finally brought one back but without a dustpan. When he asked for one, she advised him to "just sweep it out in the hallway" (I used a piece of paper as a dustpan instead). Once I swept the entire room, I went to wash my hands and there was used soap on the counter. There's also a stain on the bed and the sheets smell like sweat. In conclusion, you can tell that they literally don't keep this place up. It's filthy. I do not recommend at all. As an IHG member, I will say that this is the worst room that I've ever had.

Yelp
worst customer service ever. Checking time was at 3 PM and the concierge was not there and did not arrive until 3:45 PM. Customers have been waiting since 1 PM with early check-in housekeeping was running the front desk and kept saying that the concierge was in the building, but not answering his cell phone or text messages only to find out he was never in the building at all but instead on his way. The manager was called by the name of Felicia and she said that she was just operations and that she was currently out of town and there was nothing that she could do. There were at least eight patrons, waiting in the lobby for rooms. We were offered free beer , finally after we got our rooms, they were not up to par and look like they had been rushed to get them ready and majority of the rooms that were next-door to our room. Still had the doors open and had not been clean. This was the worst experience ever and I mean ever the following morning when we got up no for our breakfast we were informed the following morning that staff had called in and we would not be able to be served a hot breakfast and was offered cereal and juice and any snacks we want it. We paid for valet service and ended up having to get our own car. WTH!!!

Yelp
If a zero was available that's what I would rate. Nice room on 8th floor, suite with two queens. The sports bar next door is a very bad location next to the hotel. The noise from dj was so loud, the windows shook. Did not say anything until hotel fire alarm starting going off in conjunction with the bar music. After I realized it was not part of the music, I walked down the hall to see if anyone was around. No. Pushed for elevator and it opened. It was operational. Went down to lobby and was greeted by smoke and firefighters. Scary right? The front desk clerk offered me earplugs!!!!! Firefighters couldn't reset alarm until smoke dissipated. The cook was apologizing about making a personal burger next to microwave that set off grease fire. It became an electrical fire. After sitting outside for a bit, cold and raining, I decided to go back up and try to sleep. Music was even louder. Upon checking out in the morning I expressed my extreme disappointment to night auditor and font desk clerk. They kept looking and clicking on computers and finally tendered my room charges and parking expenses. I had prepaid the room to receive the better rate. No offer was made to compensate me but they assured me Melvin the general manager would call me ASAP. Still waiting for a call. Most dissatisfied and scary . Am trying to only give one

Yelp
I should have checked Yelp before booking this one! I have traveled for years professionally and stay at the major chain hotels of which technically, this is one. I figured a boutique style venue would be nice for a personal trip with my wife, but sadly, this hotel failed in so many ways. The rooms were not entirely clean nor were they fully stocked with towels or normal amenities and the bathrooms needed work too. Although our air conditioning worked well, there were other issues such as the mechanical doors that did not function, the door locks that worked intermittently, the garage parking that smelled like the dumpsters nearby and the fact the staff all seemed to know about each of these issues, yet nothing was being done to have them corrected. Although nothing the staff could do about the engine revving and street racing at 2 AM outside the window while we were there, it just iced the cake for first time/last time. The review below is accurate, head down the street to the Hilton or Marriott and bypass this boutique wanna be until it gets the attention it needs.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this hotel. I was down south for a business trip and the central location of Hotel Indigo was very appealing. I'm not from Birmingham but from what I understand this area is called Five Points. It's a charming part of the city with a lot of great restaurants in walking distance. Very close to the airport too, I believe it was a 10-15 minute drive. The staff at Hotel Indigo was very friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive. The hotel itself is pretty chic looking at first glance. There is a restaurant and bar downstairs and the decor there and all the way up to the rooms has a pretty contemporary, modern touch. It's stylish but the rooms definitely need a touch up. Corners of the wall in my room had paint peeling and there were some scuff marks on the walls. The room was nice it was just a bit weathered and could use a little make over. My biggest qualm with the hotel was the air conditioning. I respect they use an eco friendly system but unfortunately it doesn't really work well. I checked into my room and it was blazing. The thermostat was set to 62°F. I turned the fan on high and barely any air came out. Called the front desk, they have access to all the units thermostats and could see my room was sitting at 76°F but was indeed set on 62°F. He explained the eco friendly system won't blast air even when the fan is set on high. A solution was provided quickly which I appreciate, they moved me to another room. It was slightly better, maybe 72°F. I set the thermostat to 68°F and put the fan on high. Even after a day and a half on these settings the room absolutely never got close to 68°F. I like to sleep in the cold so it was uncomfortable. Back to the positives, for a cost they have a valet which is convenient but if you drive the perimeter of the block you'll find some street parking. Conclusion: Not bad, but I probably would not come back solely based on the AC and slightly dilapidating rooms.

Yelp
The rooms are decent. Comfortable for sure. The service needs work. We ordered room service. The bartender "forgot" to put the order in and the kitchen closed. We didn't get a call informing us of this, so we didn't know until I called 45 mins later. This poor service is holding back a hotel that has all the right amenities to be great.

Yelp
I would not recommended staying here other then the guy who checked me in & one of the door guys everyone was rude. Definitely not 4 star service. The room did not feel clean the bathroom had hair on the floor and "curly" hair in the shower. Shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned at all. The bar tender was beyond rude I still left 20% tip but I wanted to leave nothing. The door guy today was rude & unwelcoming as well. I will say the door guy when I checked was actually very sweet & friendly. I called to see about a late check out today and she was very rude and non friendly also. They did extend my check out by 30 minutes just was very rude about it. Other then the two when I checked in everyone was horrible. Rooms are small also. Go to the Hilton Dow the street you get better service for you money. I paid to be treated like crap & made to feel like doing there job was a nuisance!

Yelp
Loved the pharmacy theme, room was nice and the food and drinks were great. Lots of good food and bars within walking distance. In addition to that the hotel provides excellent parking.

Yelp
Hotel Indigo is a great hotel for a getaway weekend in Birmingham. Sam, was amazing! He took care of every need I had via phone before I even checked in. He definitely went over the top to make sure every detail of my stay was perfect! This was my second stay at hotel Indigo and I can definitely say that the next time I'm back in Birmingham I will be staying with hotel Indigo! Thank you Sam for your hospitality, I hope you are recognized for your services!

Yelp
I'm only giving 4 stars because of how amazing my bartender was, Jen. She was great! So friendly, stayed on top of my drinks, and gave great ideas for some places to check out. That being said, the white lab coats are the creepiest thing I've seen in a bar. I was waiting to get a flu shot or bad x ray results. The employees look so uncomfortable in them. Please rethink this aspect of the uniform. It's disgusting.

Yelp
Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. No queen beds though, just 1 king or two fulls. Room was loud from equipment buzzing and street noise. A/C was inefficient and room never got cool enough for my comfort. Asked for technicians to fix a/c but they were apparently unable to correct the issue. No mini fridge; bummer if you want to keep cold drinks on hand. Employees were very nice but...requested extra towels and after waiting 20 minutes went downstairs to get them myself. Found employees chatting and hadn't even begun to find me some towels. Routinely, valet attendant sat right next to the front door, right in front of door, and never once made a move to open the (very heavy) door for us. Also lab coats worn by staff to go with apothecary theme just looks messy and unprofessional.

Yelp
Great service at the bar, very friendly and efficient! However, I felt rather uncomfortable due to the strange and creepy looking doctors uniforms the bartenders wore... Stellar employees in very weird garb.

Yelp
This hotel would have totally received a 5 star rating from me if they would fix a few key things. The fact that you can't control the room temp settings without having to call down to the front desk is very annoying. Had to call down twice before it was half way decent. The fire alarm beeped every other night but was remedied when you hit the test button. Not cool to be woken up at 3 AM every other night. The worst: I Left a note and $5 for housekeeping to leave an extra towel....she took the note and the money but no towel. However, the front desk was super and remedied the towel issue! The bar keep was amazing! This guy doesn't play! The rooms were clean and the hotel is wonderfully located. Other than the few inconveniences, my stay was acceptable.

Yelp
We had trouble with the cleanliness of our room. It hadn't been properly cleaned upon check-in. Nor do they come in and clean each day. A covid thing? Shower backed up. The valet folks were super nice. Check-in was helpful. And the restaurant is very good. Just can't get past the cleaning.

Yelp
Had great drinks and service at the RX lounge, Jennifer was fantastic! I do have to say that the white doctor coats are a little ridiculous. Kinda gives off a creepy vibe plus it looks extremely uncomfortable to actually work in. It's clear whoever made that decision has never actually worked behind a bar bc if they had they'd know how uncomfortable that would be. Besides that, white coats? White anything in food/drink service is just odd...

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience here! Our bartender, Jen, was stellar! Everything was clean and all wait staff was clearly on top of their game. My husband and I couldn't really get passed the white coats that they wore.. very odd to have bartenders wearing white coats as if they were doctors! They seemed hot and sweaty, but only because they were working so hard. Might want to rethink this uniform as it seemed very unprofessional and not fitting to the theme of the restaurant and bar..

Yelp
The dr coats they wear are really weird but the drink I ordered is good, pretty building with a lot of history. I just think they need a change in outfits for the staff. They looked uncomfortable and honestly it just doesn't look right.

Yelp
Our car was stolen while valet parked at the Indigo Hotel. The parking company is blaming the hotel, the hotel is blaming the parking company, and we are left holding the bag, renting a car to get home, and hiring an attorney. Unbelievable

Yelp
The staff here is amazing. Every staff member I met was so friendly and helpful. Loved theretro-modern decor. Our room was clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Super convenient to walk to restaurants and bars which is a big plus because parking is an issue. Your choices are on the street, public parking, or valet. On the street you risk someone hitting your car and knocking off your side mirror (this happened) public parking (risk getting mugged or your car broken into) so just pay for valet. Breakfast is your standard hotel breakfast, edible and it serves it purpose.

Yelp
Kourtney showed us amazing service!! We will be back. She was very sweet and patient with our large group. The atmosphere felt very welcoming thanks to her.
