I was largely happy with this hotel- location is pretty good and the themed rooms are a great idea, that are well executed. I really liked our ‘Tudor’ themed room, complete with modern touches, a really comfortable bed and complimentary drinks and snacks. A hotel with a fridge is always good!||The bathroom, especially, was very nice- and even included a volume-controlled TV speaker. This is unusual, but again pretty cool. As with a lot of hotels, the shower grouting could do with some black mould remover, but other than that the room was clean. ||Now for the downsides. At check-in, around 3.30pm, we were told that our room wasn’t quite ready. At around 4pm, a whole hour after normal check-in we were told that the room was ready- which when we went up, wasn’t. After another 10 minutes of awkwardly hanging around in the corridor, we were allowed in. Turns out the cot, that was requested several months ago, was forgotten about and the team had to put one in. We had plans in the evening, so for the room not to be ready at 3pm was disappointing.||Fortunately, the staff at reception were apologetic and offered us a complimentary breakfast, which was well received by us. The breakfast was decent, although we had to pick a half-hour slot for it. ||The room was quite loud from doors slamming in the hallway, slow closing doors would be ideal.||The biggest downside though was the lack of parking- the closest multi-storey is about a 10 minute walk with heavy bags, subsidised from £20 per 24 hours to £12, but is probably the worst car park I’ve encountered in terms of how tight it is, and how the lifts don’t go to every floor. I know this is nothing to do with the hotel, but if we were to stay here again- we’d probably get the train. ||Decent enough hotel, though, with lovely rooms.
