Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island (Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Indigo, the InterContinental Hotel Group’s boutique-hotel brand, isn’t shy about adopting the visual language of the design hotel — this one, in Wan Chai on Hong Kong Island, is a riot of color, graphic patterns, and eclectic furnishings, an homage to one of the city’s most colorful neighborhoods. Space is always at a premium in this town, but the rooms make the most of it, and add thoughtful comforts like Nespresso machines. There’s a restaurant, Indicolite, serving an all-day menu on the second floor, as well as the 29th-floor Skybar, serving cocktails, wine, and light fare alongside a glass-bottomed swimming pool." - Tablet Hotels

I loved this hotel so much! It's in a great location. My room was absolutely stunning and had a breath taking view! The bed was probably the most comfortable I've ever slept on. I also appreciated the cute details in the room such as small statue, welcome fruit, mini bar with snacks, and cute tea set. I would love to stay here again!

So far the experience of staying here has been a little tarnished by the lack of an available rooftop pool, the likes of which we were only informed about a few short days before arriving and payment had been made. Whilst these things happen as I am told they had to make ‘emergency renovations’ - there has been ZERO attempt by the hotel to compensate guests on the above matter. When questioned about the availability for alternative pool options within the IHG group; the client services team immediately advise this is not an option; but going to a public pool is. It’s quite clear they haven’t even enquired on the above matter (which seems like a missed business opportunity given I would imagine most guests would also pay to use spa facilities at another IHG hotel and drinks/restaurants). Finally when asking following the above discussion if more water could be brought to the room (you are provided with two small cans per day); the hotel staff advised this would be charged. I think the client services team could learn a lot about how to keep customers happy… Is it really worth adding salt to the wound of not having a pool available when you are on holiday at an expensive hotel by charging the paying customer for water??? You can do better… The redeeming feature is the rooms here are very roomy and nice indeed. They could do with slightly bigger TV’s but it’s a minor detail; overall very happy with the actual rooms. As for the facilities and customer services: poor… you can get much better for the same price point.

We had a pleasant stay. The hotel is conveniently located, close to Hong Kong Station and within walking distance of Wan Chai Station. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and attentive both at the front desk and during breakfast. While the breakfast selection was a bit limited and repeated daily, I’d like to express my appreciation to the lady preparing the eggs, she did a wonderful job, and it was great to be able to request them just the way I liked. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay, and I’d be happy to return again.

Google
This is a fantastic hotel in a great location. It's in a quiet, yet still bustling area with lots to offer. Keep in mind this is Hong Kong, so it's still busy around here. Also, there's a great little market by the hotel, and then many restaurants nearby, as well as easy access to the subway. I would like to highlight the amazing staff at the 29th floor sky bar (Kana and Justin). Such kind people, and so helpful. Thank you again for everything!

Spacious and stylish modern rooms with Mountain or city views, a chic atmosphere, excellent amenities like a rooftop pool, Rooftop Bar at $168 for happy hours from 3 pm till 9 pm, Free Buffet breakfast and varied East meets West dining, and convenient locations. Attentive service, particularly the "Whatever/Whenever" philosophy, The hotel is also known for its opulent design and is recommended for its value and unique neighborhood experience.

Returned to this hotel after a 10-year gap. Still liked it very much: friendly and helpful staff, well-designed rooms with floor to ceiling glass windows, lovely little rooftop pool with a novelty overhang. |Main negative was the breakfast. Choice was poor, food was cold and pastries undercooked. Staff not customer focused at all there. On check out when we mentioned it, the reception staff said lots of people were telling them the breakfast was bad. Surely, in those circumstances, you'd do something about it? Also slightly annoying that we paid for it only to find they had a promotion where guests could have it for free (would have expected a refund in that situation but one not offered). Also, it's fine to take a deposit for extras but on check out they tell you it could take several weeks to be released back to your card, which is not acceptable either. Despite this we would stay again, would just skip the awful breakfast.

Google
Generous size room for Hong Kong standards at this price point. Modern, clean and with good amenities. Although in-house food options are limited, the excellent location means that an array of great restaurants (of multiple cuisines) are walking distance from the hotel. The hotel is also situated close to both an MTR station (5 mins walk) and bus stop (across the front entrance), making traveling incredibly convenient without resorting to pricey Hong Kong taxis or Ubers. Would stay again primarily for the room’s price to performance and the hotel’s convenient/vibrant location.

Yelp
This is a conveniently located hotel in the Wan Chai area of Hong Kong, The room was on the 25th floor and a corner unit. Powered curtains, separate toilet and shower areas, separate desk. Beautiful room, The staff is excellent, we interacted with the night manager Alex as we arrived, he came out to greet us in the driveway and helped us take our bags to the lobby. We had many suggestions on where to eat, how to get around and helped get transportation arranged. I definitely recommend the Indigo Hotel in Wan Chai

Yelp
Very nice hotel located in Wanchai, just a little set back from Queens Road East,in a bustling commercial environment with plenty of small shops, eating places and restaurants. The lobby is not enormous, although very efficient and functional. We had adjoining rooms for our party, and it worked out well. Staff members were responsive and attentive and the room amenities, including a large bathroom, worked out well. The room windows were very large and with Hong Kong the way it is, the view is almost always (in Wanchai) other buildings. All in all it was a wonderful experience. Surprised that the room price remained high in spite of low utilization, even higher than Lanson Place which is a bit more luxurious. The hotel has a really nice Chinese restaurant downstairs serving good dim sum.

Yelp
I'd previously stayed at a Hotel Indigo in Midtown Atlanta and liked it fine but that visit in no way prepared me for the superb service and decadent design of this IHG property in Hong Kong. I appreciated so much about this hotel from the Tibetan rose-scented amenities to the motorized blackout drapes in the room (important when you're fighting crazy jet lag and need all the help you can get), and the free wifi that actually worked (pretty much all the time, imagine that!). Location is typically my number one priority and Wan Chai, where this Hotel Indigo is located, did not disappoint. There's loads in walking distance: shops, restaurants, bars, even Rolls Royce and MINI dealerships should you need to buy a car during your stay. The MTR station is about a six minute walk from the hotel, so if you want to explore other parts of HK, that's easy too. We held meetings in the boardroom and they took great care of us - tea, pastries, water, emergency sandwiches between interviews - and were around whenever we needed assistance. Drinking water from the tap is not recommended in Hong Kong and I was glad that along with housekeeping they made sure to keep me stocked with plenty of complimentary bottled water. Spending 10+ nights a month in a hotel for me is not unusual. But finding one that I'm ridiculously happy to stay in certainly is! I would gladly return to the Hotel Indigo in Hong Kong. NOTES - Check out Star Street (it's like stumbling upon a hidden oasis of super cool shops) - Grab a drink at nearby Stone Nullah Tavern (and maybe an order of pig's head nachos too) - Get a foot massage at Happy Foot inside the QRE shopping centre

Yelp
This may be one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. From the moment I walked in, I felt at home. The staff spoke English and Cantonese which made asking for help with reservations and directions so much easier for a traveler from the United States. Moreover, staff was incredibly helpful and courteous; there was nothing they could not handle for us and always with a smile. The room was incredibly spacious by Hong Kong standards. The space was well laid out maximizing the floor space. The shower was amazing; the Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries were a nice luxury. The splashes of color from the goldfish on the pillows, to the tea set, and the Bang and Olufsen speakers that I connected my phone to were wonderful little touches making the stay that much better. Every day there were multiple bottles of mineral water left for us. Our first day, I got a delivery of local candy to my room as a welcome gift. I am usually freaked out by how dirty I imagine a hotel room is and don't even like to walk on the floor but there was none of that here. It was so clean everyday that I forgot I was even in a hotel sometimes. The motorized curtains are a cool feature. And the fact that the lights and the curtains can all be operated from the bed are outstanding. Don't bother buying international data or phone minutes if you stay here. There was a smartphone called Handy that we were able to use every day of our visit for free and it was amazing! We could call locally and internationally with no effort and it was set up so you could easily find directions and look up anything you needed on the internet. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Hong Kong. It is centrally located to the Star Ferry, the tram line and the MTR. You are minutes away from Central and Kowloon districts. You can't ask for much more!

Yelp
Thumbs up! I think this may be one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, or my number one in Asia! The front desk staff spoke English, Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese which made asking for help with reservations and directions so much easier for us. Good location. Very close to the wan chai station. There's also a small night Market close by where we can buy fruits and veggies. The service was great. They were kind and professional. Surprisingly our room was spacious and fully equipped. The view outside our window was great! And yes the rich breakfast was my favorite. Because I prefer toast and omelette, but my sis loves Chinese breakfast and they offer both in the morning. We can order onsite as well for some dishes. Me and my sis loved the rooftop swimming pool. That was a bonus! The view was awesome on the top and we enjoyed taking tons of pics. I would definitely go back and stay there again.

Yelp
Where to start? The surprisingly spacious rooms, delectable bathroom products, thoughtful room amenities, quirky artwork, goldfish bathmat or the reasonably priced mini-bar? Let's just say that the Indigo does all of these things very well, providing a hotel room with personality and charm that won't make you feel like you're waking up in another box in the sky. In addition there's a tiny but welcome rooftop bar along with rooftop pool and small gym for those wanting to stay a little active on the road. The breakfast selection in Cafe Post is diverse, though don't hesitate to walk out the front door and visit one of the many nearby local options serving up milk tea and pastries for breakfast. In a week staying at Hotel Indigo I received nothing but lovely service from every member of staff. It was lovely to walk in to the lobby each evening and be greeted by staff either with "welcome back" or "enjoy your night". It's only a small thing but does make a difference when you're spending nights on end away from home. At first glance Wan Chai might not look like a great location to stay, but dig a little deeper and you will find plenty of local character from temples to street markets mixed in with out-of-the-way streets hiding hipster cafes, bars and shops. The MTR is just a 4 minute walk from Hotel Indigo and from there everything else in Hong Kong is easily accessible. I will absolutely be staying here again in the future, avoiding the more built up tourist areas.

Yelp
Great hotel, exceptional staff and very nice rooms. My partner and I were upgraded to a suite on the 25th floor which was lovely and huge! A big shout out to the guys at the rooftop bar...Jessica, Ducky and Alvin were fantastic! The only negative I have is that it's hard to see at in the mirror at night. So if you're getting ready to go out it it can be a little tricky. Also, the light in the bedroom would go on if someone entered the room through the other door. Annoying if you want to stay out and your partner wants to go to bed. But maybe we were doing something wrong? Lots of buttons. Overall a great stay! The pools nice too!

Yelp
Local charm with clean rooms. First time trying a local hotel over Int'l chain hotels in HK and the result isn't disappointing. There are a minor thing I'd like them to consider changing is bath room door. It's not all the way to the ceiling making less private if you share the room with someone else. Overall, it delivers what I expected so far. Location-wise, it's in Wan chai, 5min walking distance from Wan chai metro station. Taxis from TST don't know this place but all taxis from HK island and central area knew here. 15min taxi without traffic from Victoria Peak tram station, 15min taxi without traffic from IFC, 15min taxi without traffic from Wan Chai pier. Right next street is called 'open market'. Small kiosk with various goods. I scores two rare Cars characters at a local toy store here around $8 each. In 15 min walking distance, there are lots of places you can drink like the street in Central too but here are for much more older folks compared to Central. Much less attractive. I walked back to the hotel right away. If you need to stay in Wan Chai, try here if prices are within your budget. It's not a fancy hotel where you can have great restaurants or health club but it has decent room size, clean and comfy bed and linens, clean shower, and is quite which all I need for my business trip.

Yelp
THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER! The room was dirty and small and the toilet smelled terrible. The most upsetting was the customer service, they did not respect guests at all and they were rude the whole time. I tried to complain but clearly my complaint was ignored. I was deceived by the fake images and description from their website. If you wish to be treated like garbage, go ahead and pay they them a few thousand hk dollars.

Yelp
The Hotel Indigo and I met as I was ready to collapse immediately following a 15-hour flight, and she caught me. No, I'm not kidding - I literally fell onto my plush bed covered with the softest sheets imaginable and slept blissfully... until 5am. Oh jet lag, you are a cruel punishment. Self-induced torture aside, my stay at the Indigo was quite comfortable. Between the spacious size of the room (impressive even to a Westerner), unlimited bottles of water provided daily, luxe toiletries, motorized blackout shades (yessssss), prime location 5 minutes from the Wan Chai MTR stop, onsite restaurant perfect for breakfast and a scan of the local newspaper, and the kimono-style robes that I'm still coveting, you won't want for anything at all. After several exciting and long days of walking around the city, it was always a pleasure to return to the Indigo and sink into that bed for a late-afternoon siesta. Indigo, you can be my home away from home anytime.

Yelp
I am generally not a fussy traveller but one thing I will not tolerate is bugs . One crawled out of the sink. Enough said. Will not be back.

Yelp
Favorite hotel to this point. Service goes above and beyond. I had a hand written note on the pillow welcoming me back when I arrived. Cool rooms with switch operated blinds that black it out so you can sleep any time of day. Awesome pool on the roof that hangs over the edge-29 stories down to the street looking through the glass floor. Nice view of the green clad hills that backdrop the city. Decent bar on the top floor as well with a view that doesn't reach the harbor but is still a nice place to grab a quick drink.

Janice C.

Yelp
Hotel staff members invited a group of protesters into the hotel lobby for a rest but then called the police to arrest them. How chaotic. If privacy is your top priority this hotel is not your choice.

Yelp
This is a nice little hotel (comparatively to other) located in East Wan Chai area on Queens Road. It has plenty of eateries and a flee market around it. It is also a short walk to the MTR / subway. The price was reasonable and the room was clean. You must visit the coffee shop here as they are well-known in Hong Kong. Also, check out the infinity pool at the top floor... a must "check-out" if you are a guest here.
