Where to Go Spring Skiing in North America

"There’s no lodging at A-Basin—which prides itself on having a no-frills, locals’ mountain vibe—but you can stay nearby in Dillon, Frisco, or Silverthorne. The Hotel Indigo Silverthorne, which opened last winter, is within walking distance of Silverthorne’s new food hall, Bluebird Market."

My husband and I got married over at the Silverthorne Pavilion which is across the street. We ended up getting the 3-bedroom suite for the weekend so we could have a getting ready area. We worked with Peter for our room blocks & for the 3-bedroom suite as we wanted to make sure it would make sense for us. Peter was extremely accommodating and helpful. The location of Hotel Indigo is great. Across the street is Red Buffalo Coffee & Tea and that was one of our highlights for the weekend. Every morning, walking over there, and spending time together. The only minor complaint wasn’t to the staff or this location. However, the hotel franchise when calling makes it difficult to get a hold of someone at the front desk at the Silverthorne location. It was always just a representative for the Indigo franchise. Other than that, lovely stay. Our guests loved it as well.

The hotel itself was clean, and we were initially booked in a room with two beds and told we were upgraded. However, the couch that was supposed to pull out did not, which immediately created an issue. Ernesto was extremely professional and did his best to help, but he was clearly set up for failure by a system that allows overbooking and does not properly recognize the needs of elite status members, or guests in general, especially during a holiday weekend. Our room was not cleaned a single time during our stay. We had to repeatedly request fresh towels, which became inconvenient and frustrating. The pool was extremely cold and essentially unusable; no one was using it during our stay. Given the high price of this hotel, the experience did not match the cost. The property appeared to be operating with bare-minimum staffing, which negatively impacted service overall. We typically choose IHG when traveling, but this was one of the worst IHG experiences I’ve had.

I attended a conference in Keystone but stayed here. Less than 15 minute commute. My room was very impressive and well appointed. Good bed, very clean and easy access. It had everything. I was able to work in my room part of a day and relax at night. Restaurant was really amazing and fun. We had a large group for heavy appetizers and good drinks! Even with large group we could hear each other talk. Food was fresh and tasty! Parking was easy! Easy check in and check out. Santiago texted me throughout stay to make certain everything was okay. Very accommodating! Will return again for pleasure!

IHG Diamond/Platinum beware - no breakfast. They advertised this room as a 2 bedroom suite, but it’s not, it’s a 1 bedroom suite with another bed in the main/living room. In fairness it’s a very nice room, but to make matters worse, they don’t provide IHG benefits, including Diamond breakfast. That is worth about $50/night, so I asked for the equivalent points instead (IHG points are worth about $0.005 each so 10k/night), and was pretty rudely told no, despite spending over $500/night to stay here when it isn’t even peak season yet. Not even an attempt to offer something else of similar value instead, just straight hostility. Disappointing from a hotel I’ve stayed at multiple times and used to really love. It’s really a bare bones hotel - you get the room and nothing more. I expect better for a $500/night full service IHG property.

***Review for Weddings/Events*** This review is not necessarily for my experience staying as a guest, that will be closer to 3-4 stars (I will elaborate why) but is a review on my experience with having Hotel Indigo in Silverthorne as the wedding block location for my wedding at the Silverthorne Pavilion which is across the street. The two stars are primarily due to the very poor communication and customer service that we have encountered. It was surprising, considering I assume they host blocks and events fairly often, with the pavilion being across the street. To summarize: -Set up our wedding block under my last name and not my husbands, not really an issue for us but some couples might be more upset with it. It was just strange considering it's hospitality and a weird miss for a location that likely hosts many wedding blocks. -My guests were booking the rooms under our code and rate; I wanted to know where we were at capacity wise and the Sales & Marketing director stated he did not see any rooms booked and proceeded to then state either myself or my guests were doing it 'wrong'. It's really not a very complex process so I was confused why it wasn't showing up in their system. Once I talked to the Assistant General Manager about it she confirmed it's because he never submitted the wedding block request and it was in the system as 'pending'. I never did receive any sort of acknowledgement or apology for blaming myself and/or my guests for the blocks not showing up on their end. -Getting a hold of the front desk can be nearly impossible at times. Both myself and a few of my family members would have to try multiple times, if not over a span of more than a day, to get a hold of someone with a question. I have also seen this reflected in other reviews and comments in Colorado Travel groups. I have no idea what is going on but not being able to reach the front desk for a few days is a concern. -If we did get a hold of someone, it would sometimes take weeks for them to get back to us to answer a simple question. -I emailed the AGM, Kathrine Goodman, a few months before our wedding to share our concerns and negative experience with poor communication. I sent that in July 2025, it is now October and never received any reply from her -I want to highlight that we were bringing in ~60-80 guests right after Labor Day from Wednesday-Saturday, during a historically slow period in the industry AND we booked our welcome party on the onsite restaurant. So essentially, we brought in a decent amount of revenue to the hotel (or I assume so) so the lack of attention to our experience during planning was surprising and I do not believe the guest experience/customer service is a priority. Our actual stay: -Overall, I will say our stay was positive. We rented the two bedroom condo suite for 4 nights and it was clean, modern, and spacious. Our guests also enjoyed their stay and the location was perfect. Kucu Tequila Bistro, the onsite restaurant and the outdoor firepits were a great value add to the experience. -However, we never did receive housekeeping when we requested it and they did not pick up our trash until we were checking out which sat out in the hall all day. -The morning of our wedding I was using our suite to get ready with friends and family. ALL of our key cards kept deactivating where people could not get into the room and this happened multiple times. It caused a bit of overwhelm as I needed people to be able to get in and out while I was getting ready AND we had our dog there who was going to be crated during the reception and I wanted peace of mind that people could get to her easily to take her out and feed her. -When I checked out the suite I left items in the drawers of the bathroom. I called within two hours of check out to see if housekeeping found them and for 2 days was in limbo that they did not which told me they did not do a standard turnaround of checking drawers from a longer stay. The items finally surfaced a few days later I mentioned that observation.

This was included in our Vacations by Rail trip and was the favorite of mine. We stayed there two nights and the only complaint I heard from anyone in our group was the room lighting, but our experience was perfect. Very clean room, staff was friendly and helpful. The decor was unique, seemed to be everything my husband and I loved. |The only negative would be the location was a little out of the way for folks with difficulty walking.

Google
The worst customer service… Katherine Goodman, the general manager is always hiding, she don’t know how to run a business… If you want a good customer service don’t even try this hotel, is a complete waste of money (plus keep an eye on the reservation, they like to tell you that is more after you make the reservation). At the end one of the employees started being rude and started telling me “Dude it is like this and that’s it, I’m not wasting my time with you”…

Stephanie C.

Google
It met all my requirements, I have nothing negative to say about this hotel. The bed was very comfortable, it has free parking. It is a perfect location if you want to visit Vail and Breckenridge as well as Frisco. It is also in walking distance to a few restaurants.

Yelp
Dur to 1-70 being closed down we needed to stop in Silver Thorne for the night. Googled places to stay and this place popped up. Very glad it did. The $130 fee was reasonable and we were pleased with the "Boutique" Hotel. Very clean and quiet. The furnishings were very unique and refreshing. Parking was convenient. The only bad thing was that they didn't serve a breakfast of any kind. We would stay here again in a heartbeat as we make the trip from SW Utah to Denver and beyond to Nebraska several times a year.

Yelp
We had a fantastic experience. Stayed here for a girls trip I was out on. We arrived in town around 1 pm. Stopped and got lunch. But still had an hour to kill before check in. I called to see if it might be possible to check in early. The front desk guy checked and he said yes that would be fine. Google took us to the back side of the hotel, the entrance was on a side street across from the parking garage. Front desk was very friendly and helpful upon our arrival. He gave suggestions for hikes and also chatted with us about cross country skiing which we were planning on doing. This location had a great location. Close to lots of stuff. There is not free breakfast. They were offering smores from i think 5-7 pm. It was not something we were interested in but thought that was a cool and unique thing they were doing. There was a restaurant down in the lobby area. They give you a tag to put in your car to park in the parking garage. There is not an extra charge for that. Rooms were modern with cozy beds. They had cozy looking robes available for use in the shower/bathroom. There was a TV in the room though we did not use it so not sure what was available to watch. There was also a small fridge. Front desk was again very helpful on our way out. I would definitely come back to this hotel if I were in the area again.

Yelp
Stayed here one night and what a lovely hotel! Beautifully decorated, clean, great lobby, s'mores which were yummy at the fire pit! And Katherine at the front desk was delightful and very professional! The perfect, first face for any hotel. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
We love this hotel! Fantastic room, lobby, outdoor area. The restaurant serves wonderful Mexican food and margaritas. The food hall next door and the deli across the street provide a fabulous location. Welcomed our sweet Clarence!

Yelp
The entrance was a little hard to find. It's actually behind the main road, so you need to turn onto a side street and then that back road it's on. It's right across from the parking garage and I got a really close spot. No issues leaving my car in their entry circle while I brought my luggage to the room. The room was nice and the people working the front desk were friendly. My only issues were finding hairs in the room and housekeeping knocking on my door when I had late checkout.

Yelp
Closed the bar on a Saturday night at 10:00 after a wedding!! Do you want to make some money in this business? You gotta stay open on Saturday til at least 1:00. The night manager insulted the bride, turned off the fire pit and threatened to call the cops. Paid over $300 for a room and bad treatment. Would not ever recommend this hotel. I ran restaurants and tended bar for twenty years. I've NEVER SEEN SUCH A SHIT SHOW!! Learn how to run this type of business for Gods sake or give it up

Yelp
March 2022 - STAY AWAY. We are not difficult or demanding people. I never leave reviews, and a laundry list of complaints on social media isn't my style, but I can't find anyone at corporate to hear my concerns. This hotel is awful. If you want to step into the lobby and snap some shots for The 'Gram, have at it. Do that and then walk out. If you want to stay at a hotel with an expectation of a luggage cart upon check in for all your ski gear, housekeeping more than once in 6 days or the most basic of amenities (daily coffee with sugar/cream, fresh towels, non-freezing pool), then steer clear. Staff was friendly enough when you could find them. We saw many staff simply standing around and chatting. There was a sign that said "request housekeeping." Upon check in, I did just that; I requested daily housekeeping. Everyday thereafter, I requested housekeeping. I had to do so from my cell phone, since the in room phone was decorative only. Our room was serviced once in six days - and only because my husband ran into someone in the hallway. We had to go to the pool and grab some pool towels to use. On the last day, housekeeping entered our room without a knock and got a fantastic view of my 11 year old's post-shower towel-off. Good thing she's cute, I guess. Other issues - no TV/cable service; no ability to charge a coffee purchased at the attached restaurant to the room; strange lighting - glaring in some places, non existent in others. I hate to be so negative, but this place was a disaster at every turn.

Yelp
TL;DR: Great hotel with excellent amenities and walkable eating options My son and I stayed at the Hotel Indigo over Spring Break in March. Despite being at 80% occupancy, it was extremely quiet and well kept. I was concerned about the reviews I'd seen when the place just opened, but all seemed in order for us. There was one charge pending for the room due to booking.com and IHG's systems not talking (the reservation was paid, but IHG held a charge on us until checkout). The desk staff was very understanding and walked through it patiently with me until I was satisfied. Furnishings and amenities were very clean, very new. While there were only four Nespresso pods in the room, we were able to get more at the desk. The staff was working hard (and long hours for some) but with great attitudes. The Kucu Bar and Grill is accessible from the lobby and is a great bar. They open early, so you can get coffee from them and stay open late. The Bluebird Market is right next door and offers several great (and cheap for Silverthorne!) options for food. Great space with an arcade upstairs for the kids and a bar and espresso bar (depending on time of day) in the center of the main room. Overall, great stay! We'll come back to stay here as it's close to Keystone, easy on/off I-70 to get to Breck/Vail and with plenty around it to make walking easy. Plus parking in the garage next door is free with stay!

Yelp
Tried to make a reservation or at least speak with someone at the front desk..A very ignorant woman yelled at us through the door then came over and asked if we had a reservation, we said no we were interested in making one and she said no we're booked slammed the door and walked away. Cold snowing and she didn't even offer us inside. Horrible woman to be in customer service working the front door at a nice hotel

Yelp
We had a great time with our family! The front desk people are very friendly! We recommend it for sure!

Yelp
Second time here and just as great! Everyone is so nice and really appreciate you. Rooms are perfect and the bed/pillows very comfortable. Rest downstairs has killer margaritas and is very close to everything you'd want!!

Yelp
Overall fantastic stay! The hotel was clean and well decorated. Solid fitness center. The lobby and decor is very welcoming. The staff was my favorite part of our staff here. The front desk personnel were all very helpful and accommodating. WILL BE BACK!

Yelp
Feb 2022 - This is a brand new hotel. I didn't find many photos or info online at all but took a chance. Myself and a girlfriend booked a last minute snowboarding trip and almost everything was booked up. We had the option of paying $1,000/night at a fancy place or $200 at a basic hole in the wall not even close to the resorts. $500/night is steep but height of the season and Friday and Saturday night it is what it is. Overall we were very impressed with the accommodations and they should really post more photos cuz it's really cute. The beds are super comfy, soft sheets, lots of fluffy pillows, beautiful bathroom with a Delta rain shower head and lots of towels. The decor is super cute and perfect for the area. Aveda bath products. The parking garage elevator wasn't working so we parked on the 2nd floor and had to lug our snowboards down the stairs. There's a tiny refreshment area for purchase down stairs which is convenient but also a liquor store across the street. There is NO jacuzzi on the property which is really too bad, maybe it's in the plans. Guests were super loud on Saturday night which sucked cuz we had to wake up early to ride the next day before catching our flight. There is a Nespresso coffee machine in the room but no sugar or cream and only 2 coffee pods. House cleaning did not come. I guess you have to ask for it. We didn't need it, just mentioning. Overall I give a four cuz it's cute with potential and close to the resorts. Pricey for no jacuzzi, no sugar for my coffee and loud neighbors.

Yelp
Great room great rate. Only thing missing is a pool/hot tub for those apres' ski moments. Hotel we had originally booked was victim of a power blackout so headed here. They were very accommodating.

Yelp
This will be a nice place to stay, just not yet. The hotel is beautiful, has a large parking garage, and there are many restaurants within walking distance. However, after checking in I discovered the hotel did not have local or cable television. Only Roku TV was available. This may be okay for a night, but not a week. I immediately checked out and was given a full refund. I'd highly consider staying here once this is resolved.

Cheryl L.

Yelp
Beautiful rooms!! We had a problem with a vibrating noise in our room I thought it was construction but I was wrong manager was very sweet gave us a gift card for their restaurant they will look into the issue!!!

Yelp
Hotel Indigo in Silverthorne was absolutely beautiful. The design and attention to detail of the decor is immaculate. My boyfriend and I had a 8 hour drive and this was such a nice refresher and slice of heaven to arrive at. The place was incredibly clean and very affordable. The staff, Ashley, in particular was very kind and friendly. The restaurant /bar attached to the hotel is very convenient and serves a delicious breakfast. I would definitely recommend staying here any time!
