The trip had been booked through a travel agent, who we assumed had done due diligence and knew well the hotels they offered to their customers. However, what we saw in their brochure and whatcee experienced were not the same. On the plus side, the hotel was in a good location; a 10 minute walk into the centre, the staff were friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable had good quality linen but the pillows were very unforgiving.|On first glance the hotel looked to be 4*, however it left much to be desired; a 'Grand' Hotel it was not.|The pictures on line show sumptuous rooms with art on the walls, but our 'Premium' room was bare.|There was tea and coffee facilities but there were no chairs and no table to sit at- how room service works I can't comprehend.|The curtains were full of moth holes and the edge of one had no hook so was coming away from the window.|The paintwork was extremely shoddy and the wardrobe was chipped, dusty and needed a good clean and polish. I dread to think what the less expensive rooms were like.|We had a basic bathroom- no marble tiles like the photographs, - better spec in a Premier Inn, although we paid a premium price.|Unfortunately, this was only the first of four hotels we stayed at, all 4* or 5* that really were not as advertised.|Pre-Covid, the hotels we stayed|at were outstanding. How standards have changed in Italy.
