Good stay at Hotel Indigo Warsaw Nowy Świat for a couple of days. I could not help myself comparing it with the InterContinental Warsaw, as I’ve been coming there very frequent for a very long time. ||The Indigo Hotel had a totally different vibe: much more informal, with staff having an easy vibe to. The hotel is of course considerably smaller than the IC and was fully booked, so less chance on an upgrade - I did not get any. I did get the breakfast benefit offered (Diamond Elite). ||There was a slight miscommunication during check in: the agent mentioned the hotel restaurant having ‘a Michelin Star’, stating that it was the third best Hotel Indigo breakfast worldwide. Non guests would come to the hotel only to have breakfast. What she meant was that the hotel has a Michelin guide recommendation, and not a star. ||Having stayed in the InterContinental Bangkok less two weeks ago, I found the breakfast certainly at a his hotel was certainly not bad. But compared to the IC BKK I could not help comparing it to coming nowwhwre near that level given the choices on offer. Although the concept of ordering a la carte breakfast is nice. And of course, I’m very spoiled when it comes to spending time in hotels and eating 😉||My (premium) room was nice and spacious and also very light. Since sunrise in Poland comes very early (with dawn starting 03:27, sunrise at 04:15) my room became very light early in the morning with the curtains not fully blocking sunlight. I like to sleep in complete darkness. What also was bothering me was the big lcd display of the phone, lighting up my entire room. Solved ny placing my wallet over it. ||Air conditioning is managed centrally by the reception, you can only adjust temperature +/- 3 degrees Celsius. Windows of my room could be opened. I had a balcony, but unfortunately access was not possible. ||The bedside reading light is placed in a very inconvenient place. Don’t falli a sleep reading, because when you wake you and bash your head against the fully metal, pointy light that was located just about where your head is, you might be painting the very white room red. Also, the master switches of the lights could not be operated from the bed, they were around the a corner where the power plugs were. This illogical layout was due to the fact that the bed was a folding bed. ||Room service menu wise, the choices are very limited. There were only full dining options (starter, main, dessert) on option as opposed to things such as sandwiches. The restaurant had more choices, it is not clear to me why the roon servce menu would differ from the restaurant menu. ||Location wise, the hotel is close by to nightlife as well as shops. Do be aware of the ‘do you want to have a free drink’ scam, as you could end up in a shady bar and/oe strip club where you risk ending up drugged and with a depleted credit card. At some point, my colleague and I were approached about five times when walking back to our hotel. Rest assured there were plenty of normal (cocktail) bars and (craft beer) cafes in operation, but this infamous scam is very annoying as you must shoo the people who approach you away. Some of them are very persistent. Head to the Fabryka Norblina if you don’t want this problem. ||On the day of checkout I could secure a late checkout to finish some work. The lobby had one high table with power plugs where you can work from. ||From a business traveller point of view, the IC offers more amenities and services. If you’re looking for a more boutique hotel experience the Hotel Indigo is a good option.
