"When it opened in 1962, the Hotel Indonesia was a 14-story marvel of modernism that became the preferred address for visiting foreign dignitaries, movie companies, and journalists, even playing a prominent role in The Year of Living Dangerously. By the time it closed for renovations in 2004, H.I. (as it is familiarly known) was a run-down wreck in the shadow, literally and figuratively, of contemporary luxury hotels. Renovated—"reinvented" might be more apt—by the Kempinski chain, the hotel once again makes a strong bid to become the city’s top choice. Standard rooms are big (475 square feet) and are designed in a relaxed mix of traditional motifs and contemporary plushness. They come technologically equipped: Wi-Fi, a long-range cordless phone that rings at the pool or the coffee shop, and a toilet with more options than you want to read about. The excellent Signatures restaurant, presided over by life-size photos of Indonesia’s flamboyant first president, Sukarno, with Marilyn Monroe and JFK, is fitting in a city where extravagant hotel buffets are de rigueur. Guests also have signing privileges at eateries in the adjoining mega-luxe Grand Indonesia Mall."

The hotel is in a sensational spot. I a higher room with a view and was glad I did. The room was very spacious, and the bathroom was enormous. I had a fantastic view of the roundabout and the never ending thousands of cars that use it every day. The hotel had direct access behind reception desk to the Grand Indonesia shopping mall, which was pretty handy. Also, over the road was the Plaza shopping centre, which had a supermarket in it, not that I used it. The pool in the 17th floor was fantastic. Just big enough and not used by many. The breakfast selections were endless. Western and Asian food, and even gelato. Overall, a great place to stay. I’m glad work paid for it, but it wasn’t too expensive.

Mrs. Salena Bellatrix from front office was wonderful. She made sure my 3years old son enjoys tent and balloon set up! Room was abosultely wonderful. However there were two disappointment during our stay. First was the cleaniness of the bathroom, the showerhead were filthy. We booked the stay for 3 pax, the amenities such as towels and tooth brush were only provided for 2pax. ||Second our experience at the breakfast was the worst, no escort to the table, no offer for coffe or tea. They welcomed the regular guests rather than people like us. We called for juice and coffee which took 20minutes, mu husband had to go the bar himself to pick the juice and tea. We ordered avocado toast and class egg benedict without smoke salmon which took 45minutes and the presentation was a piece of bread with pouched egg on top with smoke salmon. We cancelled and planned to head out, asked for takeaway coffee, they said we can help ourselves near enterance, the coffee machine needed water refill. We didnt bother to ask because it will take ages again and decided to go to starbuck instead. None of staff at restaurant were friendly to children!||I only chose this hotel because it is connected to the mall. There are many options in mall rather than having breakfast here. It is not worth the price for room with breakfast.

This is an exceptional hotel. It has the elegance and charm of the old-world style hospitality but with modern amenities. The service is exceptional and the food is equal to the service. The rooms are magnificent and comfortable. My family will stay here again.

Our family had the best time staying at this hotel! From the moment we arrived, the staff especially pak dicky & pak felix made us feel so welcome and taken care of. Check-in was quick and easy, and they even had little treats for the kids, which was such a nice touch. Also a birthday cake and decoration for my husband|The room was spacious, super clean, and perfect for our family of four. The beds were really comfortable, and we loved the view.|The breakfast buffet had so many options—even picky eaters were happy.|The hotel also attach to the mall which has a lot of food options|Overall, it was such a relaxing and fun trip for all of us. Highly recommend this place for families!|

One of the best hotel experiences that we have had. Just everything is perfect. The hotel is in a perfect location. Despite is history, the rooms are very modern and stylish. The staff had ensured that we get to adjoining rooms and they were extremly helpful. Very good inroom dining.

Well they lost their touch, some parts still a great place to stay and enjoy. Herewith my honest review:|+ check in was great, helpful staffs and pleasant experience|+ executive lounge was great, day 1 had enjoyable experience (20250501) kudos to staffs working for snack + cocktail|+ got few lovely small birthday surprise! Cakes in the room, towel tower, lovely writing from ladies in red||_ they closed several access for smoking area (near oku)|- i am for sure displeased with cashier/reception, named Rina Febriana. I asked a small gesture for 30 mins late check out (12.30), annoyingly she kept ignoring and asked me to clear the room. Come on, 30 mins wont hurt!!!

Wonderful stay in this hotel with the best location. The lobby, the room and the bathroom were great with a superb view of Salamat Datang. It was spacious and modern.|It is a historical hotel so felt that it was a special stay.|We loved the breakast with such an amazing variety, we got to try many indonesian specialties.|The metro was right outside as well as the mall.|We will definitely chose this hotel for our next stay in Jakarta

I had high expectations as this was said to be the #1 luxury hotel in Jakarta. It's not.|Lets start wuth the Japanese restaurant. Overpriced and underserviced. Way overpriced for what is presented and dished up. $50 for 3 pieces of sashimi? $125 for 21? Also they had no menus. Expect you to scan a QR code like some factory input in a ramen joint. Service was pushy upselling.|The lobby is dufficult to find a place to sit comfirtably if waiting for your ride. There are a lot of cove seating areas along a passage but if occupied you are well out if view of the entrance.|The room was spacious but a bit tired. Silvering on the mirrors missing in spots, lovely teak furnishings and fixtures have unrepaures dents and blemises.|Small but significant : the curtains don't blackout the room. The outsude view at night has lots of bright light and it gets past the curtains above below at the left and right sides and in the middle join that has no overlap. It's made worse by the mirrors stuck on the ceiling concrete beam reflecting it all. |The bathroom window doesnt come close to being blacked out.|To add to the lighting issue they have these illuminated lighting controls where you can hit "master off" which turns off all lighting exceot from the control panel buttons themselves. One is by the door and another right next to the bed. Then on the ceiling is a smoke alarm which stobes a green light every 10 seconds and then the blue light from the tv even when turned off. It's often an extra issue for traveller particularly across time zones that regulating light exposure is a health issue and controlling a fully dark sleep environment manages jet lag and circadian perfirmance. Its a standard expectation of any 5 star hotel to have a dark room for sleep.|There is no really dim lighting setting available.|For the toilet Im sure the phone while you #2 was a real lux item in the 60s, but if you want you can facetime these days.||"High Tea" in the exec lounge wasn't much to write about. Chochies and buscuits really.|The electric toilet with adjustable bidet jet is a fun novelty but besides pisition and jet pressure it would be nice to adjust the temperature. Do housekeeping safety test this?|There was no soap amenity. Liquid soap dispensers near the vanity basins don't help if you are in the bathtub.|No in room iron and the pressing service is good but not immediate.|Staff service is top class. The roof garden is lovely. Gym is good. Spa rooms excellent.|Its a heritage joint and the glass and aluminium soviet style diesn't really grab me but the extensuve timber is great.
