We've been coming here for forty years, but probably won't come back. Although the staff are really nice, the hotel had a lot of odd rules. You are required to wear a plastic wristband so that the restaurant staff would know which breakfast option you were eligible for. You can't drink the water, but are only given two very small bottles per day. Extra small bottles cost a buck fifty! No mini-fridge, and they don't want you to bring any drinks or food into the room. Not sure if she's the owner, but there's a woman that seems to be around yelling at the staff. It's a long walk down to the beach, but there are two nice pools. Views from the room were very nice. Great breakfast and nice 2 for 1 happy hour. When I contacted them months before about which room to book that would be the quietest, they never got back to me. Ended up booking Aura del Mar for the last couple of days, which was a huge improvement, but of course more expensive.

Absolutely beautiful views from Irma, we opted with breakfast included that was fabulous, there menu is great all around the food was good for us! Plenty of restaurants nearby, hotel was just as good as the local food! Coconut shrimp was wonderful & grill night on Friday only was good as well..starting with the lady in charge on down to the staff was awesome from bartender Janet ,Isaac John Paul Paco, Daniel Juanita spent three weeks here & we will be back! Mini fridge in rooms would be nice!

Not a fancy hotel but so clean and well cared for. Location couldn't be better. View is spectacular. Pools are wonderful. Fully booked but still so quiet and not crowded. No elevator and lots of stairs, so be warned if you have mobility issues

The criticisms of the rooms are all valid. They are outdated and need to be updated, but mine was also clean and comfortable enough. That said, I would stay here again. The main reason is the views. They simply can’t be beat. The view from my balcony and the pools and restaurant was spectacular. Staff and service were good, too. One thing: If you have mobility issues, this is not the place for you. On the other hand, you’ll get in your cardio.

Stairs, Lots of them, If you’re not capable of climbing stairs or steep grades you may want to find somewhere else of practice before you go. Other than that great staff and views, close to town with a beach boardwalk the while way. Safe and quiet city with lots to do.

Hotel Irma is a beautiful authentic Mexican experience. This is not an all inclusive resort. Rooms could use an update, however the beds are comfortable, the rooms were cleaned daily and despite a minor issue we had, it was addressed and fixed immediately. The outdoor pool area is amazing. Loungers with fresh towels are always available as well as tables and chairs for sitting and relaxing. The 2 pools are salt water which was a nice surprise. Staff and service were excellent, helpful, and friendly. Food and drink is good at Las Naranjas on site. We added the breakfast option to our stay and it was lovely to have fresh coffee, fruit and any one of their breakfast options each morning to start our day. This hotel does not have elevators and is located on a steep hill. The spa is pricier than those “beach massages” but it is definitely worth it! Renia is trained and does an amazing job. We booked her services multiple times during our stay. Loved the access to the public beach via stairs from the hotel. The views and sunsets are spectacular! Definitely will be back. Zihuatanejo is a safe, clean place with tons of charm.

It's not your big chain all inclusive hotel so if you are expecting that this isn't the hotel for you. Location is just perfect, walking distance to downtown and restaurants. Beach front with beach access. Restaurant a bit expensive and can find way cheaper food at restaurants near by, but their food is good. Service is amazing! The bar was great! Will definitely stay here again on my next trip.

Got very sick here from something eaten at the hotel, my wife did as well. We lost 3 days of a 7 day vacation. No longer ate there! Service was lackluster compared to what we were used to. You had to hunt down a waiter or walk up to the bar to get what you wanted. Our room initially had no hot water first 2 days of stay. We complained and I think others did too. They installed a pump that ran every 15 seconds and could be heard day and night. The whole place was very noisy. Rooms were cramped, no extra storage, no fridge, etc. Live out of your suitcase. Pool was nice, but no music (and you cant bring your own speaker).

Yelp
Excellent location; charming and amenable staff; great restaurant and comfortable rooms. The view of the bay over Playa Madera is perfect (sunsets!!) with easy access to the beach and a fast walk downtown. Their recommendations for local restaurants were exactly spot on; and while tourists drive the economy, Hotel Irma does not feel touristy. We will be coming back!

Yelp
We went to hotel Irma for breakfast. The food was a solid 4, pretty good and pretty reasonable priced. The service was ok, took us a while to get the food (but they were busy).

Yelp
In a beautiful Mexican Fishing village lies the Hotel Irma. To say it is special is an understatement. It is absolutely enchanting. Colonial Mexican architecture with beautiful sweeping arches, lots of tile and magnificent colors, overlooking the beautiful bay. I travel here to fish at least once a year and I am greeted by the smiling staff who remember my name and what I prefer to drink. Try that at the Hilton that charges 10 times more a night than the Irma. I could praise the Food, drink, location, rooms, beds and the fantastic friendly staff for a long long time, but let me just say that if you choose the Hotel Irma you, will not be disappointed and, perhaps, be like me to anxiously await the day I can return.

Yelp
Hotel Irma is a very special place to stay in Zihuatanejo. Is is a lovely hotel, with 2 pools overlooking the beach and bay. You are able to walk down to the beach, but the stairs are quite steep. It is close enough to the center of town that it's pleasant walk and there is a partially paved walkway there. You can also walk up the hill and over to the beach south, Playa La Ropa. The hotel itself is really comfortable and definitely feels like Mexico, not a resort in the US. If you opt for the included breakfast, which I highly recommend, you can order a number of breakfasts from the menu, but the best part is the big plate of fresh fruit that is included. The restaurant has a beautiful view and is on a covered deck. The rooms are basic, but fine if you aren't looking for a high-end hotel. One of the reasons I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars is that the beds are rather hard, but what the heck! You are in Mexico!

Yelp
Hotel Irma is a fabulous, low-key and friendly place to stay. It sits 100 steps above Playa Madera and has unobstructed sweeping views of Zihuatanejo bay. Right now I'm sitting on our private balcony watching dolphins lazily break the bay's always calm surface. Irma is a small hotel- 69 rooms. To me it's the perfect size. Not too small that services are lacking, not so big that you are just another guest hoping to snag a chair in the sun. None of that going on here. The staff has little turnover, so you see them year after year. They are typical of this area, friendly, eager to please and sincere. In fact we see the same guests here at the same times, so that really speaks to Irma's charm. The restaurant is very good with something for everyone from traditional Mexican to American- all good. The open dining room overlooks the bay as well. Not a bad table in the house. Happy Hour daily 2 for 1. Two pools, one of which is an infinity are cooling and sparkling clean. In fact the whole property is spotless. Rooms are cozy; tiled floors, firm nice beds, crisp yet soft sheets. Bathroom has the typical shower for the area- big enough for 3 people and nice. TV, safe and excellent maid service as well. Tip her 20 pesos a couple times a week and you'll get special treats. The lobby is softly lit and like being in someone's very nice home. As you walk around the hotel, there are lush tropical courtyards with singing birds and flowers. Irma is located within walking distance of a huge number of great restaurants as well as downtown centrist and Playa La Ropa. If you don't want to walk anywhere, there are always taxis out front. Cab fares are set at 30 pesos for about anywhere you want to go. Irma is perfect for couples, families... Only thing missing here is hordes of young drunks. They don't come here- seems like little of that Cancun-like atmosphere in Zihuatanejo. If you want a nice, inexpensive hotel in a laid back fishing village, Hotel Irma is paradise.

Yelp
The staff is friendly and attentive. The rooms are clean and air conditioned. Great views of the bay from most of the rooms. The hotel is walking distance to downtown Zihuatanejo or a quick taxi ride. The restaurant is great for breakfast. I recommend the huevos rancheros, but get the salsa on the side because it's spicy.
