After a long hike up mountain we were ready to get a refreshing beverage. It took ages before the waiter came to our table. If he would be even slower, time would go backwards. It's a good place for a quick drink, order it at the bar and take it up the mountain to enjoy it in peace and avoid the crowd at the street.

Three generation of owners have been building this hotel. And what a great job they have done!!! If you are after slick instagramable shit. Please stay away. If you savour and value old world charm and quality: this is the place. The owner, who reigns her revered kingdom from a huge desk at the top of the stairs at the entrance, knows exactly how to provide an unparalleled experience for her guests. Great respect for that. An host of young very friendly waitresses dressed in nice uniforms swarm the restaurant (problably fresh out of good hotel school) and provide great service. Food is good, but atmosphere is absolutely five stars. Wonderful table linnen and decor. Great shoutout too for the people in the bar downstairs who are friendly and professional. This is everything a good old fashioned hotel- restaurant should be. And We LOVED IT. Please don't change? Please don't give in to stupid modernism and paper towels. You are right... the others are wrong.. ;-)))) Italian etiquette for Germans and Americans (they were at tables beside us) 1. Don't ask for parmingano on your white pasta (they don't give it to you for a reason: IT DOESN'T BELONG THERE) 2. Don't order cappuccino after a meal (it is a MORNING drink) 3. Don't put water in your beer. 4. You are not supposed to put your pasta in-between a folded piece of bread 8-|. We are not in Kansas. 5. Don't get up to get your condiments from the serving table: just ask... (you might even take the pains of learning 4 words of Italian...) 6. Don't be on your phone in a restaurant (it is rude, and shows contempt for the people who cook for you)

We decided to have our last cappuccino in Italy there before going home again. Coffee and briochè were okay, service as well. But it is unclear why there are different prices on the same level between two bars?! What is more, we had to pay €2 for „coperto“ simply because they served coffee. I have never experienced that in Italy in my entire life!!! After having paid, I wanted to use the toilet and was told in a very unfriendly way that it was free for guests only. Thanks god I had had coffee before! It is understandable that toilets are popular for a lot of people at such a place and that it can be annoying but I felt quite inconvenient to defend myself against a furious Italian waitress. We definitely don’t go there again.

We spent 2 days on the top of the pass and went several times at this place to grab a coffee or a slice of pie. The staff was very welcoming and coffees were delicious ! It’s a very cosy place that I’d recommend without hesitation !

WhatsApp response are better than email, it's strange to not have a booking system but we had our room when we got here. You can have a meal when you get here (reserved to the room) and kitchen closes at 8pm. Lovely place, nice drive up the mountain (lots in 2nd). The restaurants is nice, rooms are basic (Italian plugs).

Such a pearl in the Italian alps, only a few meters from the Swiss border. The old building and its interior is a work of art, full of original design and history. The dinner in the restaurant was delicious, the local Aosta wines and their knowledge about it was superb. Rooms clean and beds comfortable, standard as expected. Breakfast also top. Busy café on ground floor with lots of visitors, but still very friendly staff. Shorter and longer hikes available from the doorsteps.

I absolutely loved this hotel. The location, right beside the lake, is stunning. The hotel itself was really great. Lots of real wooden panels and decor. No TV blaring and a peaceful atmosphere, the way the best hotels used to be. The staff were so nice and the food was great. I would definitely stay again
