"From the Adirondack chairs lazily spread across the pier and the seafood restaurant’s waterfront deck, it’d be easy to confuse the Hotel J for somewhere in New England. Even the rooms are decked out in a healthy dose of Americana, with tasteful white cotton and stars-and-stripes accompanying the natural wood furnishings and nautical memorabilia. And the seafood-focused restaurant—which, frankly, feels like a luxury yacht—channels American favorites in its brasserie-style menu. But, fear not, the Hotel J is also very Swedish. Located on Nacka Strand 20 minutes from Stockholm , it capitalizes on the Swedes’ love of boating, especially in the summer months, when the archipelago’s 30,000 islands become day trip and vacation destinations for the entire city. Not only is it affiliated with a local kayak and canoe rental center—just ask if you’d like to spend a day on the water—but the ferry to and from Stockholm stops in front of the restaurant, allowing city dwellers to make pilgrimages to the eatery at will. The hotel’s sprawling, wooded grounds, too, are exceptionally Swedish, especially with the 19th-century summer mansions that dot them; most are used as event spaces now, but don’t let that curb your exploring."

"Just to the east of Stockholm proper is the island suburb of Nacka Strand, a place where the living is truly easy, even by Swedish standards. Here, just outside the city, is where you’ll find Hotel J, a modernist seaside structure housing a boutique hotel as well as a restaurant that’s popular with overnighters and day-trippers alike." - Tablet Hotels
We must have found a second home from home. We really enjoyed our stay here and are eager to come back and repeat.
Surely, big part of the experience was the fact we decided for the sea-view panoramic room with a terrace. Yes, pricier but worth every penny.
Good service around and nice breakfast with plenty of choice. The best thing perhaps was that we could use the outside terrace to have the breakfast with great view of the sea canal.
Parking good but not plenty, so booking is needed.
The hotel restaurant had great food. Really enjoyed that too.

Besides that they threw away some personal Beauty items , we can recommend it. Food wise and location wise a very nice place. The sauna however could get more love though- like putting a little bottle with sauna oil or something ..

Booked a superior room with a sea view. Unfortunately our main view was just a pile of construction materials on a trash pile. Very loud music from a function could be heard til 2am. Room is not well sound proofed. Although pretty tasteful decoration, there was a strange strong smell in the room and basic things like tea bags weren't supplied.
Amazing location but very disappointed with the standard to price ratio.

Hotel itself is in a great location near nature with very pretty views of the water. We booked last minute hoping for a comfortable stay. However the fittings were shockingly poor quality for such a highly rated hotel. The bed frame and tables were wobbly, the sink was mounted at an angle, the bottom part of the sink was not attached to the floor, which I only noticed because the sink was not draining properly. For some reason the drain for the shower was under the glass partition, so the floor near the sink gets wet. The build quality of the room is overall poorly done and the floor is already squeaky. Seems like it was renovated not long ago so on the plus side it was relatively clean.
Some building works were going on nearby. Fortunately it was the weekend and the noise wasn’t too loud. The room was fairly small and not very soundproof, so we were woken up by doors slamming in the hallway. Very loud footsteps from the room above.
The hotel we stayed in was in a separate building to reception. There was no room service and the mini bar was empty. You are asked to go to reception to get mini bar items. It’s basically a 3 star hotel at best, at least for the separate hotel building as some other reviews mentioned room service.
Another odd feature is the cleaner leaves the bin bag roll inside the bin. There was no space, especially in the bathroom bin, so I had to remove the roll first and refit the bag…
On check out day, the cleaner was already knocking a bit after 10am to clean the room. We had a Do Not Disturb sign on the door. Checkout is at 11am. First time this has ever happened in any hotel I’ve stayed in.
Overall a strange experience with some questionable design choices.

The room was neat with a good view of the sea, the breakfast was excellent and the hotel environment was therapeutic.
Now comes the the software issues:
I had clearly told the front desk upon check in on 27 July that I will use my debit card for the hotel charges and that my credit card should be used solely and strictly for my deposit due to the significant disparity in exchange rates between the two cards. Instead the front desk went ahead to charge my credit card even before my checkout on 30 July causing me to incur at least USD 25 equivalent in hotel charges in my home currency. This was terribly annoying.
Additionally housekeeping went to dump our favourite stuff toys on the floor on one of the days. I voiced my displeasure and showed the images to Anna of front desk who did absolutely nothing about it.
There was also no airconditionjng in the room and we had to open the balcony door at night when we sleep whereupon insects started flying into the room . On one of the nights when it rained heavily we had to sleep with the balcony door closed and it was really stuffy.
You can have good hardware but if your hotel’s software is substandard, you will amount to nothing .

Cozy Hotel, nice personal, nice area and view. We love the Marriott Group. Room and beds are very comfortable and the breakfast very delicious.

The hotel is in a beautiful, stunning location. It’s super peaceful and is a fantastic place to stay rather than in the heart of Stockholm as it’s so calming. The hotel rooms are well designed if slightly basic. Staff are really friendly. The only negative I had is that the bed and pillows are a bit uncomfortable - could be better. If going into Stockholm for work at rush hour beware as traffic can be quite bad. I’d be very happy to stay again!

Good hotel for a stay in Stockholm. Very nice and calm location at the sea and close to the ferry terminal where you can take ferrys to the the City Center. Rooms are well equipped and big, the staff was okay and breakfast was good although in other hotels in the same price category the breakfast buffet is more diverse (for example there was no hot milk or no cakes and only two types of cheese and no vegan options at all (besides Hummus))

Yelp
Beautiful boutique hotel tucked away in Nacka Strand. This place is a relaxing oasis modeled after Newport, RI and the J series boat. You can easily hop on a ferry to get into the city, so being a bit farther out is worth it! The staff was very helpful and always there to help with any questions or requests.
The ONLY suggestion that I would make it for them to get better, more comfortable mattresses. This place is pretty upscale and there bedding should match.
Other than that, this place is a hidden gem!

Yelp
Incorrect charges and unsatisfactory service
Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was very negative. I got a message via Whatsapp from the Hotel prior to the checkout, offering a transportation service to the Airport. I asked and I was told by the reception that this service was included in the stay and would be free of charge. However, after the transportation, I was wrongly charged nearly €40 for this service.
When I tried to resolve the issue with management, the response was unsatisfactory and even arrogant. Management claimed it was a misunderstanding and said I should have asked beforehand - which is strange because I did ask and received a clear response that the service was included.
After requesting a refund, I was told it was not possible, but they could offer a 50% discount on a future stay, which is completely unreasonable since the issue should have been resolved at that moment, and not trying to get more money with this situation.
I recommend avoiding this hotel if you are looking for honest and professional service. The lack of transparency and the uninterested attitude from management made the experience frustrating and unresolved.

Yelp
The rooms are very clean with a beautiful view of the Baltic Sea. There is a fresh wood smell from the pine floors and oak furniture. There is both a ferry and a bus stop within a 5-minute walk from the front door. Their breakfast is my favorite hotel breakfast out of all the places I've been in the world. There are multiple options for fresh breads, yogurts, breakfast meats, eggs cooked multiple ways, a medley of juices, and fresh coffee. The staff member named Adis was very kind and knowledgeable, and she represented both the hotel and the Swedish people well. The price was fair as well. Nacka Strand's neighborhood is quiet compared to the middle of Stockholm, and there is a large grocery store named ICA Maxi a 20-minute walk away. There is also a shopping mall named Nacka Forum a 20-minute walk away. I would say it takes 20 minutes or less via public transportation to the middle of Stockholm. Hotel J is the best place to stay near the Stockholm area for most.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel tucked away from the city! The rooms are lovely and the reception staff are very nice. The hotel restaurant has a very limited menu and it is almost impossible to order room service. There are only a few items available and the hours are very limited for room service. They also almost never answer the phone when you call! The hotel is in a beautiful setting but because of the lack of service I don't think I'd stay here again.

Yelp
I love this hotel. It's beautiful, very quaint, and peaceful. It has the cutest cozy little lobby/lounge area. I went down there one night to work on my laptop be enjoy a glass of while. There's also a cozy restaurant and bar on the property. The property is split up into 2 or 3 blogs... reminds me somewhat of a dorm but really nice. My room has a spacious balcony and the bed is really comfortable. There's isn't much to not like about this place. One thing to note, there isn't an iron in the room but there is a community ironing room where you can find one. Also the mini fridge is pretty limited. To me heated floors in the bathroom made up for both of those things. The hotel is right on the river if your room Is on a higher floor you probably have an amazing view. There's also chairs outside to sit an enjoy the boats going by or all of the swans and geese that have made a home here. I would love to come back someday :)
