Hôtel Jacques de Molay

We booked this hotel in September last year as we’d bought some Olympics tickets and didn’t want to chance waiting until nearer the time. There was little available at the time so we booked 2 nights here for the extortionate amount of £1741!!!! This was without cancellation as the cancellation price was even more…. |Any how upon checking in the lovely lady on the desk said you’re not the only guests to mention the price increase and there was nothing they could do as I’d booked with no cancellation. I told her I’d looked that morning and could book for less than a third of what we had paid.. She was very lovely and I could tell by her expression that she felt bad for us. She did throw breakfast in (nice gesture but it was a poor breakfast so we only bothered one day) The lady also brought up to our room a half bottle of Tattinger and sone macarons- another very sweet gesture. |The hotel is in an ok location - a few nice little cafes nearby and an 8 minute walk to the closest Metro, République. |The room was fine, we had a small balcony (too hot to use) the air con was great as was the shower. The lift was a teeny rickety one but up 6 floors what can you do. Hind sight is a great thing and I wish I hadn’t panicked about securing accommodation and waited until nearer the time when greedy hoteliers realised they would not be full.

We stayed here for 11 nights the end of October 2023 for the rugby World Cup. Lovely little hotel and very clean. The rooms are a little on the small side. But, very adequate. Great breakfast in the morning included in the room price. Staff was very helpful. Two block walk to the metro. Lots of little restaurants nearby for evening dining.

Great hotel in a quiet street! A little out of the centre but we love to walk and explore and prefer to be in a quieter location for peace at night! There were a few restaurants near by which were great. ||The hotel was gorgeous, the gym was okay but only used it once - I didn’t feel like it after walking 40k steps a day! ||The room was great, the air con was brilliant and so needed during the August heat! The reception staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome.

The surrounding area is great, many cafes around and also a lovely tiny market is close by. The service of the hotel was always nice and trying to be as helpful as possible. The room we had was really ridiculous though. The bathroom door is right next to the bed and the room itself is extremely small. Not at all what I would expect for the price that we paid. The bathroom itself is also not looking nice, specifically the shower is tiny and the stile is just not enjoyable. The toilet paper is also some of the cheapest I've ever used. Can't recommend this hotel, despite its nice staff but the rooms are just too bad. It is more suited to be a cheap student hotel or something, not for tourists.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in June. The main attraction was the location, as the Marais is our favourite area in Paris. The location was indeed excellent. There are countless cafes, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, food shops etc on your doorstep (notably on Rue de Bretagne). Plus the Marais is great because it does not feel overly touristy, and has more of a local Parisian feel. This hotel is also well located for transport, being close to a number of metro stations (Republique being most useful). We could get anywhere in Paris without much trouble. At the same time, the hotel is quiet, we were not disturbed by noise at all. ||The hotel itself is small and charming. The hotel is staffed at all times, which makes it feel very comfortable and safe, and the staff were always friendly, pleasant and helpful.||We stayed in the superior room. We actually thought it would be smaller. Compared to our previous hotel rooms in big cities, the room was decent in size, and we didn’t feel too cramped at all. The room was always kept clean, and we appreciated the desk space, hanging space and bathroom space. However, there is no doubt that the room is expensive for what it is. I guess that is just Paris prices. ||We also used the hotel gym, which is very small with limited equipment but was sufficient and appreciated in a city where few hotels have gyms. Interestingly, the gym has a personal trainer so sometimes it can get busy with people training.||We did not have breakfast at the hotel as there are plenty of breakfast options close by to the hotel.||We would consider returning to the Hotel Jacques de Molay on our next visit to Paris. |

This was our home away from home while in Paris!!! This hotel is cozy, clean, hip, fun, convenient, and reasonably priced. We were so happy with our time here. What really made it special was the staff. Each member of the team took time to get to know us, to share information about Paris, prepare meals, book restaurant reservations and taxis, they even lit up the fireplace in the lobby, and brought silverware to our room so we could eat sweets while watching French TV. They truly went above and beyond and made our time in Paris a magical one. To top it off, it’s located in the best neighborhood in Paris. It’s not far from all you’ll want to see and explore and there are loads of delicious restaurant choices within minutes of the hotel!!! We totally hit the jackpot and highly recommend you stay here while in Paris. It’s perfect!!!!

This was a one night stay before we flew home at the end of our holidays .|The room was a decent size with three windows , three balconies you could glimpse the Eiffel Tower which was a bonus .|Bed was comfortable with good linen and pillows but the carpet was damp near the bathroom ( remained damp ) which gave the room an unpleasant smell when you opened the door .|AC good which you would need in the summer . Plenty of restaurants very close by and a small supermarket too. There are so many hotels in Paris don't think we will return to this one next visit .|Don't order taxi through reception as although we were specifically told it was a fixed price we had an argument with taxi driver at the airport as he had his meter running and it exceeded fixed price by 30 euros . Luckily we sorted it out but didn't need that stress .

Never have I been accommodated so wonderfully. I have traveled extensively for business and pleasure, and the staff at this hotel were by far the most pleasurable I’ve ever encountered to the best of my memory. Generous, kind, attentive and genuine — each of them equally so. They are the reason for the five star rating alone. ||The room itself was cozy and typically Parisian in size. Fitted with all you’d need for a comfortable stay with a pleasing color palette. The bed was very comfortable and I slept dreamily while there. I wish the bathroom lightening were better for makeup application, but I often travel with a makeup mirror, so for me - that wasn’t a male or break situation. ||I cannot rave enough about the location - right in the heart of the Marais and steps from the Rue de Bretagne with shops, cafes and the Lenfants Rouges market. Ideal area to settle in at “home” while in Paris. ||I WILL be staying at this hotel from not own when I visit until a time when I can buy my own Paris apartment.

Great location in the heart of the Marais. Yes, the room is small but doable for two people. It's very clean. It has updated decor I was hot at night but the staff brought me a fan (room doesn't go below 20'c). Everyone has been pleasant and helpful. I'd stay here again!

My recommendation: book online ahead of time! Free wifi, and close to several metro stops. Metro lines 3, 5, 8, 9 or 11 gets you to the hotel near the République stop, or RER A, B or D to the Châtelet les Halles stop. The hotel is clean, staff is friendly, and the rooms are fairly modern. The staff can hold your luggage for you for a few hours on the day of your checkout...this is majorly convenient when you just want to roam around Paris for just a few more hours before your flight out!

I was there three nights in the summer. The room was VERY small, and the air conditioning ineffective and limited in terms of how cool one could set it. The bathroom had lights of rotating colors! The closet door could be opened only halfway because the bed blocked it. The breakfast was mediocre at best. (I stayed in five European hotels during a recent tour, and he breakfast here was the weakest and the room one of the two weakest.) Although my room was quiet, some rooms were not. Because the building was VERY old, formerly a house, the remodeling allowed is limited. I would not stay there again. In writing this review, I see that two other reviewers have given it four or five stars. I am amazed.

My wife and I spent a week at Hotel Molay in Jan2012. We had the best stay, breakfast and full gym. Staff was awesome, rooms were clean, beds comfy and hotel was quiet!! The Marais was a brilliant local and no tourists but ourselves. Highly recommend this hotel for a great inexpensive lodging in a beautiful city!! Walking distance to everything.
