Hôtel Jeanne d'Arc le Marais

Positives: The location was great, close to metro and grocery stores, and cafes. The aesthetic of the lobby and rooms are cute. Staff was very accommodating. They held our bags for us after check out so we could explore the city some more. Negatives: The beds were extremely uncomfortable. After the first night, our backs were hurting and it just got worse every night. The cleaning staff start cleaning very early on in the morning and they are so loud, they don’t seem to try to be courteous to sleeping guests at all. They also leave their cleaning stuff all over the hallway to where it almost seems like a hazard. Not to mention the walls are paper thin, we could hear water from the rooms next to ours running when they used the restroom. The elevator was very small so we couldn’t bring all our luggage up at once. There are stairs getting from when you exit the elevator to getting to your room which are very narrow and twisty. The hallway by the rooms aren’t very wide. Ceilings are a bit low, so if you’re over 6ft, your head is going to be almost touching the ceiling. Just an fyi that the Tv doesn’t have any English channels, so if you want to watch tv in English, you won’t be able to. The bathroom shower is in a tub where you have to step up pretty high to climb into it and the shower glass only covers a little less than half, so water gets on the floor when using it. When flushing the toilet, the small button to flush got stuck and wouldn’t come out so we were only able to flush using the big button. They don’t give you wash cloths so you will need to bring your own. The rooms are small, we had to rearrange a bit to get our suitcases laid out. We requested a late checkout the night before checking out and the gentleman at the desk said we could do 12pm, however, we received a call at 11:40am from a different employee at the front desk irritably saying “checkout was at 11:30 and its now 11:40”. When I told him about our approved late check out (apparently it wasn’t put into a system somewhere), he said “no, check out is at 11:30am, checkout BEFORE 12” and he hung up on me. When we got down to the desk, he said that housekeeping was pressuring with cleaning the room. It was very annoying and frustrating that one employee said one thing and another employee said another. Even though the price was more affordable than others in the area, we wouldn’t stay here again because of the uncomfortable bed, thin walls, and loud house keepers.

Our group of 5 enjoyed the beautiful, comfortable rooms and cheerful breakfast room, with a delicious start to our busy days. Our hardworking breakfast host served superbly. We appreciated assistance with restaurant reservations and itinerary planning. Great location. Highly Recommend!!

Perfectly quaint hotel in the Le Marais district. Close to a metro station and great location to walk and see Paris’ sights.

This hotel is well positioned in Le Marais district. We chose this hotel as it had a family room. Staff were welcoming and friendly and happy to help; special shout out to the young concierge who gave us great advice on how best to get to the Eiffel Tower from the hotel.||You are right in the heart of cafe culture here with so many different cafes, bars and restaurants nearby. ||Also walking distance to Notre Dam and the Louvre.||The hotel is quite small but has a lift - only takes two at a a time but helpful when family room is on top floor.||Breakfast is perfectly fine to set you up for a day’s sightseeing.||Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was delightful! In a perfect location on a cute side street, our room was spacious and had an updated bathroom. The staff was very nice and even froze our souvenir butter until we checked out. Would 100% recommend!

A charming hotel in the vibrant Marais district. The location is perfect, with everything within easy reach, yet the hotel itself offers a calm and elegant atmosphere to retreat to in the evenings. Beautifully decorated, with impeccable service and a delightful breakfast to start the day. Just around the corner you’ll find a lovely square with plenty of great restaurants and terraces to enjoy. All in all, a wonderful choice if you want to stay right in the heart of Paris while still having a peaceful and welcoming place to return to.

This hotel is placed amazingly well! Nuzzled in between two sidestreets and with access to metro nearby. We walked to most of the iconic places with ease as well! It is a bit loud from the streets at night, but you are in central paris, so what else to expect! The breakfast was not too extravagant, but filling and plenty. But what really makes this a gem, is the super friendly, really helpful, and approachable staff! We just had a wonderful time there, a full week well spent. The only minor detail is the rooms. They get quite warm! And there is no air condition but a fan, so we had open windows.

Great location in Le Marais and the owners/staff were extremely accommodating and flexible. helped us change to a family room last minute and then back to original booking room for the next night. Room 23 sleeps 3 and with the open windows to the small side street, it was quite Paris Charming and what you would envision when wanting to be in Paris. the open courtyard with three restaurants on the same block made it very user friendly and place des vosges only 1 block away. great place, and great staff.

Overall decent stay in a good central location. This boutique hotel is walkable to the St. Paul subway stop and shops surrounding the area. Our hotel rooms are very small and shampoo is not included (only soap and body wash). The water goes from very hot to very cold quickly, and it was not easy to take a comfortable shower. There is also no AC in the rooms, only in the common areas. I realized later that this is pretty common in Paris, though it was hard for us to fall asleep with the fans on so loud at night. There is a weird rule that we had to leave our keys with the front desk everytime we left the hotel, which oftentimes slowed us down as we had to wait in line to get our keys from the front desk every time we arrived back. The cafe area is cute but breakfast is not complementary and I wish they had made this more clear upon arrival because I've read past reviews about breakfast being included in the rate. All-in-all, this is a cute boutique hotel with most everything you need, but not our most comfortable stay during our trip around Europe.

I totally hated this hotel in an old building: rickety stairs, bad shower, no closet space, staff is gig workers who don't know the place...I was very concerned about fire safety, especially because staff kept track of when guests were in their rooms at night. It made me wonder whether this was required by fire regulations. What othet reason could there be? I am very happy to depart!

We recommend! On a quiet street with English speaking staff. Typical European small but very clean, well maintained rooms. Two things to look out for: the shower water can change rapidly to very very very hot. It's like someone else in Paris flushed a toilet. And the stairs. Tiny steps! Go slow. Really good breakfast.

This is a very nice hotel with pleasant staff located directly in the MARAIS. It's close to the whole world that is the Marais. The rooms are small but tidy clean and ours has a bathtub to die for. Highly recommend it.

My absolute favorite place to stay in Paris. The perfect combo of wonderfully nestled near everything and quietly tucked away from everything. Truly charming hotel perfect for couples, solo adventurers, or families. Reasonable prices for the cutest place. Their complimentary breakfast is fantastic. I literally ate here for breakfast everyday because it was so good. Amazing hot chocolate! Also it's walking distance to metro and very close to a multitude of restaurants. I will always stay here for my Paris adventures!

Beautiful hotel, very nice size rooms and quiet atmosphere. Lovely complimentary breakfast with the sweet Mery as hostess. Walking distance to lovely bistros and some very nice restaurants literally next door in a little atrium/garden area. Nail salon for a quick fix up is right around corner. Highly recommend!

Hotel Jeanne D'Arc is now my favorite Hotel I have ever stayed at. The location is perfect. We walked to the Notre Dame and The Louvre. Many nearby restaurants and shops. However, what made the Hotel Jeanne D'Arc truly amazing was the old world charm. The building must be well over 100 years old but they did an amazing job of modernizing the building but kept the beauty of a time now past. It's Beautiful!!! But what made my stay even more special was the people. Kind caring thoughtful are the best word I can use to describe them. I am writing this as I am sitting on plane headed home and all I can say is that I can't wait to go back there! Good job Hotel Jeanne D'Arc you deserve 10 stars but 5 is the max! Thank you

The rooms are decent. The stairs are endless unless you prefer to go in the death trap of an elevator. The wifi on the 6th floor is terrible.

I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Paris. I go twice a year to Paris for business (I'm a painter) and think people who rent apartments there are crazy. Here is a sweet affordable little hotel, in a perfect location (the Marais, two blocks from Place des Vosges), with a wonderful helpful staff. Why plan to cook in an apartment when Stephan can make restaurant suggestions and reservations for you? The rooms have television and free wifi and private baths--there's an elevator and a nice breakfast room that they encourage guests to picnic in for the rest of the day. You are in the charming Marais, steps from the Seine and the odd little antique shops of Village St Paul. There are world class cheeses (fromager Pascal Trotte on rue St. Antoine) and a Monoprix for the facecloth I often forget (well, the French use little terry mitts) and the hotel doesn't provide. You can get lost in the grocery store downstairs in Monoprix, and they have wonderful wines. The 69 bus near the hotel goes to the Louvre and Musee d'Orsay, through the Latin Quarter and ends at Montparnasse. Now to American comfort standards. The hotel is not air-conditioned, but they will provide fans. I go in the spring and the winter, and avoid the issue; but if you need AC, this is not the hotel for you. The same is true of all (most?) 3-star Paris hotels. I travel with friends, and we make the hotel reservations before anything else because Hotel Jeanne d'Arc is quite small, about 35 rooms, and we all have favorites. On the rare occasion they have to put someone on a waiting list, a room has always materialized, but maybe we have been just lucky. I hope nothing ever changes at this hotel.

A grand hotel Brilliant location in buzzy Marais -- near all the shops and bars, but tucked down a quiet side street, near the lovely Place Ste Catherine, so it never gets too noisy. Service is friendly and unobtrusive, rooms are clean and bright and décor is kooky (check out the mirror in reception). Perfect for a weekend break with friends as there are rooms that sleep four costing about £22 each! A real find.
