We came for a few days away to amsterdam and found this hotel. We can’t fault this hotel, the location is perfect- close to Lidensplein and also a tram stop to get you to Amsterdam Central Station. The surrounding area is quiet and we couldn’t hear anything from our room. The rooms were lovely, very clean and plenty of storage. It was amazing value for money and again we can’t say anything bad about this hotel. The room has temperate control, a waterfall shower, a mini fridge- literally everything you need! The staff were all lovely and helpful, all very chatty too!! They upgraded us when we arrived and even let us check in super early which was a lovely surprise. They also had their christmas decorations up which is a lovely touch! We didn’t have breakfast in the hotel so can’t comment on this. The honesty bar is a good idea incase you need anything also. We would 100% stay in this hotel when we come back to Amsterdam and definitely recommend that you do too!

Our first stay in Amsterdam and love this hotel! It is ideal for families with spacious rooms, great transport links, plenty of eateries within 10 min walking distance and an honesty bar in the lobby. In addition to all of this, the staff are great! Very friendly and accommodating. We would absolutely stay here again, highly recommend!

Excellent quiet location. Room clean and spacious and made up each day with fresh towels. Supermarket within 5 minutes walk and also close to the ice rink and Christmas market. Not many eating options round about but would recommend Bakers & Roasters about 15 mins away. Expensive but worth it. Great location for reaching attractions by tram. Heineken Experience, Amsterdam Ice Bar and Anne Frank House all well worth a visit. Lastly, the staff are a credit to the hotel. Nothing too much trouble.

Google
What a totally perfect spot! My friend and I were on a work trip and stayed here for 2 nights. The location is fantastic -- very walkable, safe, and on a gorgeous tree lined street. It was away from the chaos of the city itself, and was near so many great cafes, restaurants, and sites. The grocery store (Albert Heijn) is a 10 min walk and there is a very clean self service laundromat 15 min away (Wash Queen) if you need to do laundry like we did. I didn't have the breakfast but our peers did and said it was excellent and well worth it. They were accommodating to our arrival time and were very helpful the whole time. The rooms are VERY QUIET (great sound proofing!) and I'm a super light sleeper so it was well appreciated. Thank you!

Mixed feelings about our stay here. The hotel itself and the location are very well positioned. Onto the positives: The location is great — right behind some luxury shops and only a short walk into the southern part of the main area. The staff were genuinely pleasant, always happy to chat or help where they could. The room is where I ended up feeling mixed. They’re decorated nicely, the bed was comfy, and the bath jets were great. But the layout was a bit strange — not awful, just odd. You walk in and the first thing you see is the sink right next to the wardrobe. I had a real issue with noise. For any light sleepers or anyone who wants a quiet night, I’m not sure this is the place. The room had this low bass-type noise running through it — no idea what it was, but it was enough to make the bathroom door vibrate. The aircon/fan was loud as well and didn’t seem to change speed or temperature no matter how much you adjusted it, which made it feel pretty useless. I also think you have to get lucky with the other guests. You can hear people in the corridors very clearly, and at times it sounded like people were stomping around upstairs. But the worst bit by far: the room hadn’t been cleaned properly. On the second day, my partner ended up standing on a sharp piece of plastic that was shaped like a shard of glass. It almost pierced her skin — she was just lucky with the way she stood on it. I showed it to the front desk and got a small apology, but that was it. The hotel has some really great parts… but a few pretty bad ones too, especially on things that should be basic.

Google
This really is a first class hotel in our opinion. The room was beautiful with french doors and a quiet sunny balcony which we enjoyed every morning before we sampled as much as we could of Amsterdam in a week. *Hint* One week is not enough! Located in the Museumkwartier, surrounded by luxury shops such as Cartier, Louis Vuitton and Hermès, and perfect for the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum and countless more, you would think that this boutique style hotel (made from two 19th Century mansions) would be very expensive, especially as it is so well appointed, but in fact it's very affordable at around £/€/$120 per night. The street is quiet, despite a nearby school. Public transport (Trams/Busses) just a street away with easy access to Schipol and Amsterdam Centraal (railway) Station. The staff were fantastic: spoke perfect English; Very knowledgeable; Always happy to help, and when we had to go home, they looked after our luggage (for free) so we could enjoy our last free morning in Amsterdam unencumbered. We did not eat at the hotel, so cannot report on the food, but our room had a good size refrigerator (useful if you need to refrigerate med_ication) or drinks as you can purchase snacks and drinks near reception. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hotel JL No76, and will probably want to stay again, if we stay near the museums again. (We WILL!) Trip Advisor gives it 4.5/5

Google
Solid hotel. Staff was very friendly. Rooms themselves were just... Meh. They were cutely decorated and had Comfy beds but poorly lit, the housekeeping seemed to do the very bare minimum when they came in, and my room had this weird creaking noise coming from the toilet/tub area that was annoying but not obstructive enough for me to report to the hotel. Wifi was fine but kind of slow depending on where in the hotel your room is. Location is super hard to beat though, felt extremely safe at all times.

Google
Andre and Doorben (sorry if I spelt the name wrong) were brilliant staff. They made us feel soooo welcome :)) especially Andre! He is one of the kindest men ever! I will definitely be coming back. Thank you for our stay! Room was lovely and the location is brilliant .

Yelp
Hotel JL no. 76 is a boutique hotel with about 40 rooms near the museums of Amsterdam. We stayed here for two nights in November 2023 and had a great stay overall. The location is about a block from the tram stop and a few blocks from the Rijksmuseum, MoCo museum, canal tours, and other attractions. The hotel as a whole is small, but we were surprised with the size of our room. I was expecting something close to a cruise ship cabin- the room is smaller than an American hotel room but very cozy with a lot of storage. We had a mini fridge and two sinks, and our bathroom had both a shower and a large whirlpool tub. Unlike many hotels, the curtains closed completely without any large gaps that let the light from outdoors in. We didn't try the breakfast or use the "honor bar", but it's nice to have those options. For snacks, we walked to a nearby Albert Heijn grocery store and stocked the fridge. The gentleman who worked the front desk during the afternoons we were there was super nice and talkative, and the staff were great about fulfilling our requests, like extra pillows. If you arrive prior to check in or want to sightsee before taking a later train to the airport, the hotel will also hold your luggage for you. I wish I remembered the workers' names- he quickly learned ours. The only issue we experienced is that the bathroom shower dispenser did not have body wash our second night- both bottles were shampoo. Also, the hotel does not provide washcloths, which seems to be a thing in some hotels in The Netherlands, so you want to pack one or pack a loufa. I'd still give this hotel five stars- but I will check the bottles in any hotel bathroom now to make sure it's the correct product. I really appreciated how this hotel was just outside the hustle and bustle of the city and rather quiet, while still being walkable (within blocks) to so many attractions. I'd certainly recommend Hotel JL No. 76 over a massive chain hotel.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here to see the Vermeer exhibit at the Rijksmuseum. The hotel is located in the heart of the museum quarter and is near several restaurants and public transportation. Rooms are small but the bed is very comfortable and there is decent storage. The front desk staff is very helpful and called us a cab upon checkout because I was too ill to take the train. There is an honesty bar in the lobby and you pay for everything on checkout. The location, service, and room comfort are the reasons why the Hotel JL no. 76 is my go to hotel in Amsterdam.

Yelp
We are rescheduling our summer river cruise due to pandemic restrictions beyond our control. The airlines, the cruise line, and our post-cruise hotel have all been wonderful helping us to rebook REGARDLESS of the original booking guidelines. To be clear, we did not request a refund from this Vonder Hotel, we asked to move the date to align with our new travel plans. There was a flat out refusal to cooperate in any way or offer any type of solution. Vonder Hotel chain could institute a change fee for these extreme circumstances. There are countless examples of companies choosing to do the right thing at a time like this and it most definitely will be reflected in who we do business with in the future.

Yelp
Incredible service. Great location. Very nice accommodations. I could sleep and was treated to great conversation, service, and tips for traveling. Mitchell (sp?) from the Caribbean made me feel like I owned the place. This is why you stay in a 4 star hotel. The next night, I stayed in a 3 star and there was no comparison. The bar, snacks, and overall professionalism here was much more than I paid for. I will absolutely stay here again. The rooms were quite nice. The service made the difference for me.

Yelp
Great Hotel. In the heart of where everything is (museums, bars, canals, etc) Great service, great little Honesty Bar, Great cooks! Would book this place again.

Yelp
No refunds or changes due to Covid 19. Absolutely the worst customer service by a large hotel chain that I have ever encountered. I live in New York. We have the highest rate of the virus in the country. Not only can I not travel would you really want me there given the circumstances. All of our other travel bookings airlines cruise lines and hotels made changes for us. Disgrace policy

Yelp
LOVE this little boutique hotel! It's fantastic! If I come back to Amsterdam, this will definitely me my choice hotel! The staff is extremely friendly, the location is wonderful if you came to see the major museums, rooms are clean and updated. When we first arrived in the evening, we decided to try the little built in restaurant. I had a burger, my mom had soup. Both of us were shocked by the quality of the food! So fresh and flavorful! My burger had a different but delicious bun, with some sort of scrumptious relish. Was great! And not too pricey! We wanted to explore the city and see the art museums, so we trekked off. It was an easy walk to the tickets and tour place where we got a metro pass. There's a metro stop about a 5 min walk away from the hotel. So easy to get to, and the streets are well lit so there's no worries. The offer a breakfast at the restaurant, and since we were there on Christmas Day, we decided to eat at the hotel. They have a buffet with options you can order off a menu included in the buffet. My favorite? The leige(sp?) waffle. If you have never had one, try one. However the down side. We each had a waffle and a couple items off the buffet. When we got the bill it was about €20. That was kind of shocking. Everything was delicious, but I wish I had gotten something more substantial. Everything was so delicious I can't complain too much. If your visiting Amsterdam, this is the place to stay.

Yelp
I had the best sleep of my life in this hotel. I am not sure if it was the bed or the jacuzzi that knocked me out but I wish I could sleep like this every night! Not to mention the location! A block away from designer shopping and a couple blocks from the museums! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Superb location - easy 10min walk to most attractions I wanted to see and the Rijksmuseum stop is super close so you can easily catch buses/trams etc. The rooms are small, but pretty spacious considering it's a boutique hotel and in a quiet area. The employees were all so friendly and despite our arriving hours ahead of check-in they were able to safely store our luggage while we walked around Amsterdam. I wish the rooms were a little more thoroughly cleaned (before our arrival, not expecting spick and span dayto day). Would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
Very nice comfortable hotel in a great location. Staff was exceptional. Rooms were very clean and modern, they even had one USA style electric outlet for charging.

Yelp
If I could give this hotel 10 stars, I would. The room is very comfortable, the food is good...but it's the service that takes it over the top. Every single person we have come into contact with (especially Thomas) has bent over backwards to help in any way they can. All six of us traveling together feel we have lucked into the best little hotel in Amsterdam.

Shirl E.

Yelp
Beware: They charge a deposit up front which was not explained prior to arrival. They told me "it will be refunded upon check out." I have emailed with these people back and forth for 2 months after my stay there and the deposit was not refunded. These people are thieves and I would 100% NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. Also, stains all over carpet along with disgusting balls of hair when I first stepped foot inside the room. It's a shame places and people like this can ruin a vacation with such a bitter memory.

Yelp
Clean, simple, and contemporary hotel on a quiet street close to Vondelpark, both Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum, and the boutiques downtown. The single elevator is small and the stairwell is narrow and bit difficult to navigate with bags. I stayed in the Executive Suite and was happy with my room size for the cost, and was pleasantly surprised by the jets in the tub. Very nice to settle into after a 9 hour flight and carrying bags all day. The hotel staff is very pleasant, friendly, and helpful. I would stay here again.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel JL No76 recently, on our first visit to Amsterdam, and it was a wonderful experience and we look forward to staying there again. The staff are excellent. When we arrived we were greeted by Thomas, who checked us is and provided personal recommendations for restaurants and tours, including drawing them up on a map for us. He also reserved our tables for us, which was one less thing we had to worry about. All of his suggestions for dinner and lunch were excellent, and the rest of the staff we interacted with were helpful as well. The room was a pretty good size for a boutique hotel in Europe. Whoever designed them rooms did the most they could with the space. We're tall, so the high ceilings were a blessing and made the room seem a bit larger, and the bed was extremely comfortable. There was a large window that let in plenty of natural light. The rain shower head was a welcome surprise as well, as many European showers are pretty short if you're over 6 feet tall. The hotel itself is on a quiet street right by the Museumplein and easy walking distance to just about everything in the heart of Amsterdam. If I had any complaint it would be that the WiFi was a bit slower than normal, but that's about it. Thanks in part to the excellence of the JL No76, we are looking forward to our next visit.

Yelp
We cannot figure out why so many people rant and rave about this hotel because we had a different experience. We booked this hotel based on a friend's recommendations and the great reviews on Trip Advisor, we stayed three nights and we were just not impressed. First, the positives, the hotel is in a great location, close to the museums, Vondelpark and Concert Gebouw, the lobby is cute and hip, the room was very quiet, and the beds extremely comfortable. The cons, we reserved an executive room and were surprised at how small the room was, also the bed was two twin beds pushed together. At breakfast they frequently ran out of items and when you asked, their standard response was, "We are all out", end of story. Also, we reported the batteries needed to be replaced in our room safe and they said they would get right on it, it was never fixed. We are puzzled as to the positive reviews of the staff, we just did not have that experience with the exception of one gentleman who was working an evening shift, he was terrific, helpful and friendly. When we checked in the woman at the front desk did not even greet us, she had a rather glum expression on her face, asked our name and basically handed us our card keys, we had lots of luggage as we were traveling in Europe for four weeks and did not ask if we needed help, did not explain anything about the property. Other personnel at the front desk were similar, disengaged when we asked questions of one woman she said they were short staffed and although she was polite, she said she was sent over from another property, was just filling in so she was not able to answer our questions. This hotel was not cheap, so not sure if we just happened to stay at a time they were short staffed and the regular personnel were out but I had higher expectations.

Yelp
So my wife and I went to Amsterdam for the first time and stayed at the Hotel JL no 75. Our stay there was amazing. Upon our arrival the gentleman that greeted us was great and very knowledgeable about the area. The hotel is literally right across from the Van Gogh museum and near all of the major museums. Your steps away from a smaller red light district and from a local party area. The Heineken experience was steps away from the hotel and the area is very safe. Also there are premium retailers right behind the hotel. The room was a little small by American standards but it's cozy and very clean. For hard working people I suggest the jacuzzi tub it was great. If your going to Amsterdam this is a hotel to stay at.

Sharron W.

Yelp
Superb location, but the room was very small. The carpet is stained and worn, and smells like a wet dog, likely due to the dogs who have stayed in the room. The bathroom and bedroom are so small and the bath had a tiny shower with some glass door contraption that only a very small person could enter. The front desk staff was wonderful and the location is fantastic though. Because of the worn and stinky carpet, I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend this hotel. Seriously, the carpet stunk up the entire room.
google avatar

Carmen S.

Yelp
This was our first stay in Amsterdam, and this hotel was wonderful. The rooms are small, but typical for European rooms. The bathroom is awesome and so nice to have a bed. They serve food, and everything we had (breakfast and dinner) was excellent. The service is impeccable, and Thomas was an absolute gem. He's so friendly and goes above and beyond for everything. He even fixed my broken suitcase when I arrived and always gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and things to do around the hotel and around town.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
Lovely, quaint hotel in the museum quarter. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere in the hotel. Rooms are not huge but a comfortable base for your trip around Amsterdam.

Mihai M.

Yelp
The location of the hotel is very good, but otherwise I cannot say anything very good about it. Old building with about twenty rooms in it, mix of OK decorations and cheap IKEA cabinets and furniture. Cramped lobby, cute but small. Very expensive breakfast, you can buy coffee to go from the machine in the lobby - why pay for a simpke cup of coffee after paying a lot for the room?!?! No pool, no gym, of course. Mattress is very thin and has indentations in it from overuse so I had back pain after 2 nights. They rent bikes (seriously? Not even a bike for free? A bike, not a car!) at a price way higher than rental places in town. Employees are nice and professional but that is not enough to make me recommend this place to a friend.

Sara W.

Yelp
Great location. Quiet. I've stayed in two different hotels in Amsterdam. This was amazing. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept on in my life. A lot of the features are limited because it is a hotel in Amsterdam and should consider the city you are in and the standards of the country you are in. The staff service was standard and even the room was quiet. I really enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.
google avatar

Yelp
I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel! I am not one to write yelp reviews often but I was compelled to share about this hotel in hopes that other people will find it! It had all the good things you can expect from larger chain hotels; cleanliness, comfort, and assistance, but in a cute small hotel tucked away in a residential area. Everyone who worked there was extremely helpful, especially Thomas at the front desk who went out of his way to help us with everything we needed. The rooms are very nice and clean and the beds are super comfortable! There's a restaurant on the main floor, and plenty of restaurants within walking distance that the staff will help you find. The location is also wonderful, in a quieter part of town but a 2 minute walk fro the Rijksmuseum. Honestly everything was good about our stay at this hotel, if you need a place to stay in Amsterdam, this is the place to go!!!!
