Hotel Johann Strauss

Hotel is in a great location, less than 100 meters from UBahn stop, lots of restaurants near by, city center is only a few stops away or you can walk to it in 30 minutes or less. I slept very well. Bed was comfortable and it was perfectly quiet in the room. Breakfast was nice, there are options for yoghurt, cold cuts, eggs/bacon/sausage, fruit, vegetables, bread, sweets. Staff is friendly and helpful. Overall excellent hotel and if possible I will try to stay at Johan Strauss next time I am in Vienna.

My wwife and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in December. We stayed for 6 nights and loved the location, the room, the breakfast, and the front desk service. The room was the largest and most comfortable we had in our 2 week trip through Germany and Austria. Lots of space to move around and a very nice washroom. The cappuccino the gentleman at the front desk made for us was one of the best I've ever had. I tried to replicate it with the coffee machine in the breakfast room but it wasn't the same. Breakfast was amazing. The hot food was mostly the same every day with some small variations, but the cold cheese, meat, and smoked salmon (and other treats) in the cold section changed often and it was always a delight to see what was available. The selection of pastries, crepes and breads was something else. So much to chose from. Sachertorte for breakfast? Why not? The hotel was situated right next to a very convenient subway stop and not far from tram stops, restaurants, shopping, and Karlskirche. Overall a delightful stay. Thank you.

I spent week here in November. The hotel was charming with modern ammeties and some old-time touches. I loved the big brass room key! I hit a really cold spell and appreciated that my spacious room was warm. The bed was cozy and comfortable. Breakfast had a good variety. Location is great - within walking distance of most places I wanted to go, but with a subway stop on the block. The staff were friendly and accomodating.

OK for a night or two when traveling for business. Nothing to complain about, but there’s other 4 star hotels that offer way more. Standard breakfast buffet, no restaurant, small bar and lobby. No gym and comparably small rooms. Clean and tidy, staff always friendly. A bit noisy - but that’s the price you pay for the convenient location.

Got a room for three people, and it worked out beautifully. Great size - it was not crowded at all - with a lovely bed + a sofa that turned into a bed. The hotel is centrally located and within easy walking distance of lots of Christmas markets, which was the main object of this trip. Breakfast was good, staff was friendly, accommodating, and approachable, they kept our luggage before check-in and after check-out, and got us a car to the airport. I would not hesitate to stay here again on another trip.

This hotel was perfect for our 3 day city trip to Vienna. The hotel was conveniently located next to the U-bahn. The bigger Karlsplatz U-bahn station with more connections, including to Schönbrunn, was in 10 to 15 minutes walking distance. The Vienna Hauptbahnhof was within 20 minute walking distance or 1 stop removed by U-bahn. The hotel staff spoke both German and English. Our room and bathroom were both very clean. The rooms were well isolated, I didn't hear any noise from outside or from other guests, and slept very well. But note that our room was on the top floor at the end of the corridor, and didn't face the street side. 2 Pillows were provided per person so you could choose your preferred pillow height. Minibar was available for additional payment. The bathroom has a two-combined-in-one shampoo & body wash in a big dispenser, hand wash & lotion in big dispenser, and hair conditioner in a small bottle available. There also was a hair dryer, two glasses and a sewing kit. The only very minor downside of the room was that the water temperature in the bath/shower was hard to regulate and not very consistent. The hotel offers breakfast, but plenty of breakfast options are available outside too.

Had a lovely 3 night stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the room immaculate and the beds very comfy. The hotel is in a historic building and has a lot of character. Excellent location right next to the underground and tram so you can get into the centre of Vienna very quickly. Yes the decor of the room is a little dated but the bathroom was updated and the other benefits outweigh some slightly older style decor! Would return

Clean, wonderful breakfast. Super nice staff. They packed a breakfast when I had 7 am busses to catch. Not one complaint.

Stayed here during a weekend trip down from Prague. I was in town from Phoenix, AZ USA. The front desk manager happened to have just moved from the Phoenix area as well (small world literally). They were very nice and the hotel and room were clean. I highly recommend this place especially for the rates. Close to the train station and the central area near the Opera.

Amazing! Quiet street, steps away from Taubstummengasse U-bahn stop. Service is top notch-- attentive and friendly, but not intrusive. Giant old school room keys. Solid white tablecloth breakfast.
